There is no best ROM, it's subjective. Find one you like the look of and give it a go, don't like it, try another.
I understand m8 but I'm kinda new to all this flashing custom Rom stuff and just want a stable and fast Rom that does everything the stock 2.2 does and more with the g1 only cm was available through Rom manager so just used that where the desire has a lot of options lol

I like sense but can do without it

If you want sense you should either go for a SenseHD rom, or a MoDaCo one.
If you want stock Android, I would recommend CyanogenMod!
You know you don't need to download and flash roms solely through ROM Manager?
My advice is just to look at the ROM forum and download the one with the most hits, it's popular for a reason. There are really only two different types of ROM, Sense and the stock Android bundled usually with ADW.Launcher. It's not like WM where there are a plethora of different mods and registry changes, at least not in my limited experience.
I agree just neva been this spoilt for choice

Was gonna use defrost Rom but it says I need to download radio update there's also two 1133 kernels do I download both or just one

have you updated to Froyo yet? As far as I know, they are just 2.2 Froyo radios. So if you have updated to 2.2 chances are you don't need to update. (Double check with the radio thing, I am an Android newbie as well so I am not 100% sure.)
As for the kernel, as far as I know you don't need to update this either.
For Sense roms I strongly suggest LeeDroid, and Desire HD roms I'd go for RCMixHD (Camera still not working yet, but it should be fixed soon), non Sense roms, go for OpenDesire, Cyanogen or MIUI
Agreed, if you want to try something refreshingly different, try MIUI.
Still ain't a clue which one to try lol
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
well try Leedroid first, then MIUI for non-sense, and see if you are attracted to sense or not

Also try CyanogenMod or OpenDesire to see if you like Stock Android.
There is no harm in trying different roms and switching if you want!
I've used cm 6 before Ive not flashed roms without using Rom manager and leeroid isn't available through that there's only a small section like cm, defrost nd others
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
IT's not too hard
1. Download Leedroid rom from their minisite's dropbox folder.
2. copy file onto your sd card
3. reboot into recovery
Important part!!
DO A NANDROID BACKUP!!!
i. select backup/restore
ii. select backup and let it rip
iii. return to menu
4. select flash .zip
5. find the leedroid rom & select it
Cheers for help just one more question once I've flashed a custom Rom if I ever wanted to return to stock how would I go about doing it

Hello guys,
Im currently working on a custom ROM based on CM, but I dont get the new market into it.
There are several .zips and vending.apks online but none of them seems to work for me.
Any ideas?

Are you removing the old market before you flash the new one?

hello..
i have started using cyanogenmod 10..and my phone is rooted also..
it wass working fine but from last one day..superuser is not working..and when i open any application which requires permision to access..
the message is displayed IT works only with Rooted phones please help..me!!!
Now what to do too root the device??
By installing cm10 realize you are rooted. There is an issue with some builds that broke superuser, go to the thread you downloaded cm10 from and look for the fix or flash a different build/rom that doesn't have this issue

So can you suggest me the best rom of cm or others?
There are many to choose from and best is objective
For now try out mimicry and make a nandroid back up and then try others to find what suits your needs

Try reflashing the ROM and see if that fixes that.

Today i rooted my htc buzz wildfire and installed cyanogenmod 7.2
I wanna know how can i change the rom?
And which is the best rom available? In terms of speed and one last question, does overclocking really boosts up the speed. Should i really do that?

Cyanogenmod Is a rom, and so is htc sense and miui ect. You have already changed rom! And yes, allowing you don't over do it there should be no harm bar the battery will run down faster.
I think with cm7, some apps still lag. For e.g xda app crashes at times and it gives the error "force close" which never really happened before.
2) And can u tell me should i try cm9 with jelly bean / ice cream sandwich.
3) and how can i use rom manager? I rooted yesterday and didn't use it. What's the first option i should use etc ( a forum link would be appreciated) i couldn't find any.

CM 7 is a really smooth ROM no ICS ROM is faster. I think you should stay on CM7.
You can use ROM Manager if u want to flash a new ROM for example CM9 or a new ClockworkMod recovery. You can also Download the newest Version of CM7 (gApps etc.)via ROM Manager.
Maybe you should try to clear the app cache and data to get the app working

Thank you.
But can you teach me more about Rom Manager? I had it pre-installed in cm7 but don't know how to use it.
I heard that rom manager can get phone's bricked. I haven't even made a backup of cm7

Here is a complete guide how to use ROM Manager and what exactly it does
I've heard about the 'brick'-issiue too but i think that's a rumor. I flash ROMs with ROM Manager for about 1 year and i hadn't even one issiue with it.
Thanks man you're genius.the kind of info i needed, i got it.

fix miui v4 video problems
here are ics kernels included in viper rom (chinese ota kernel) and tazz's rom (leak kernel) to be used in other sense ics roms.
I actually made these to work with miui v4 as those have garbled video.
Any other rom which needs kernel updated can use this without any problems.
All credits should go to nitsuj17, tazzpirate and microdroid. All I did was extract kernel and hardware drivers from their roms and make a kernel update pakage.
flashing these kernels will fix garbled video problem in miui. both f these have working wifi and data. tested. these will not wipe data but make a backup just in case.
there's no point of flashing these kernels for a viper user. but tazz user may flash viper kernel to fix occasional wifi drop issue
flash only one.!! either tazz's one or viper one
thanks. :good:
new version added. people having problems can try flashing that
Any one still having problems with these kernels just flash this boot.img from 4ext recovery after flashing the kernel zip fie.

I recommend to use viper.

I'm familiar with Viper's kernel since I've used viper rom but how does it differ from the one Tazz used? Is it just the Viper one having the wifi fix or is there more? Better yet is there even a reason to use Tazz's over Viper's?
I flashed the viper kernel over Miui and it gets stuck at the white HTC screen. Anyone else?

I think only viper kernel has fixed WiFi drop issue. Tazz kernel hasn't fixed it. And tazz kernel has some graphic driver issues so some items doesn't render properly in some games.

thanks! :fingers-crossed:
I tried viper kernel on tazz rom and it worked. So I think these kernels will work on any Rom as long as its a vivow, sense based ics rom.

Using this on MIUI, good work. Now all I need is to stop the radio from disconnecting for a few seconds when WIFI connects and I will be 100% content, until I get the itch to flash again, that is. Thanks again
