[Q] HTC One X - Big Problem RUU

Hello XDA people
Im new in thread, but im follow the XDA at many time, so i hope im doing the right way
Explanation of my problem.
Im from PORTUGAL and i use a HOX with the VODAFONE rom...
When i buy it i see all that vodafone apps and i dont like it.....so what i do?... I make the bootloader unlock, the ROOT to my
HOX and everything goes fine to install in the future a ANDROID REVOLUTION HD, and that is the rom that i downloaded the version 10.6.
I put the rom in my SD, put the phone in fastboot, first the image via CMD, and the install ZIP of the rom
So far all normal.
But when i boot my htc it stucks on htc logo................
Well, i try again and again and nothing, do a wipe cache, wipe dalvik, and nothing.....nothing.....and again......nothing
After that
i thought to going back and RELOCKED the bootloader to put a STOCK RUU...
The RELOCKED works fine, but the problem it´s the RUU ---------- I dont find any compatible RUU for my HOX.
In this moment i have the 2.17.161. 4 and the radio is 2.1204.137D1.21 ------ i dont find any RUU compatible with this.
I try the RUU´S 1.26, 1.28, 2.17 and nothing
Allways the ERROR 140: Bootloader version problem.......
What can i do to REVIVE my HOX ?
Please if someone can help me i will be very grateful!:crying:

if i understood you are trying to install the new JB Hboot right?

For me at this momento ICS or JB it´s the same, what i want is to REVIVE my HOX.
I need a RUU compatible with 2.17.161.4 - Radio: 2.1204.137D1.21.....this is the original of the HOX.
I try another RUU´S but i have always the same problem when the instalation start´s ( ERROR: 140: ) BOOTLOADER VERSION PROBLEM
I need a compatible RUU to put my HOX working..........!!!
What can i do??

Did you take a nandroid backup before trying to flash arhd 10.6?
If not, you could just flash arhd 9.7.2.

The HOX now is RELOCKED.
and i can reboot to stock to put another custom rom, or it´s possible put a custom rom
on HOX in bootloader mode?

leave apart RUU, they are difficult to find for each one of you... answer, are you trying to flash the new JB's HBOOT? if yes then you don't need to flash a RUU

follow this guide from master Shnizlon
Download the ROM and place it on your virtual SD card.
Relock your bootloader via HTCDev.
Go into fastboot mode and type 'fastboot oem rebootRUU'.
Flash new firmware using the commend 'fastboot flash zip firmware.zip'.
On first time running the commend you will see FAILED, don't panic and just run the commend again.
Reunlock your bootloader via HTCDev.
Flash custom recovery using the commend 'fastboot flash recovery recovery.img'.
Download boot.img and flash it using the commend ‘fastboot flash boot boot.img’.
Use the commend 'fastboot erase cache' to avoid boot issues.
Go into recovery and install the ROM.
Reboot your device and enjoy from JB!

You'll need to unlock and install clockworkmod, then you can restore nandroid backup (dont forget boot.img) or install custom rom.

OK. I leave apart the RUU, only some question, because im a noob!!!
1º I can not enter in the HOX only in bootloader mode, how do i create a virtual SD ?
2º the HOX is relocked, i have to relocked again ?
3º which JB rom i install for this ?
sorry for this questions, but i have done so much, that i´m afraid to brick my HOX.

leave also apart the rom for now skip the steps about roms and boots img... now we need first to wake up your phone

But to wake up i have to follow the spteps you said...or not?
My HOX now is fully charged, and is in BOOTLOADER mode and is RELOCKED.

you have to do the steps that will take you to flash the new HBOOT so...follow step number 2,3,4,5,6,7... when it's done you should get into recovery... do this and then we will continue

no worries mate till now nobody has succeeded in bricking the one x

the virtual sd is the internal storage of the phone...

Ok, the only thing that i dont understand is:
The HOX is only in BOOTLOADER mode, how can i install a ROM if i dont have acess to the SD ?
I´ts possible in bootloader mode install a rom on the sd ? via cmd or other ? i dont know how to do that!!!

in fact you first need to follow the steps 2,3,4,5,6,7 to be able to use recovery again! and flash the rom

[Q] HOX could not go into recover mode in HBoot

Hi to all,
Good day to all who is reading and helping.
I am not very sure if this question have been asked before but looking at the first few pages of tread, I did not come across this question, else i am pretty much blind. heehee.
I am having this problem with my rooted HTC One X (asia version). Previously I could go into the recovery mode in Hboot to perform backup and recovery but recently when I select recovery at Hboot, the phone with show a logo of a phone surrounded by green circular arrows and followed by a logo of a phone with a huge exclamation mark. It will remain so until I press and hold the power button to restart the phone.
The phone is working fine otherwise.
Is there any way for me to get the recovery to work again? I am using clockwork mod btw.
Could any bro or sis help me with the above issue?

It seems to me that you have the stock recovery installed. You can flash the cwm custom recovery again.....
Or did u get a notification from an update to JB in your running OS. Boot it up and check if you have an update waiting.

What do you mean by stock recovery installed?
Yes, I have a JB update waiting to be installed.
Previously I have to go through some steps to prevent my rooting from being wipe out before performing an OTA update and one of them is to head into the recovery of Hboot before running some app to prevent the removal of root.
Just a quick info, I did not install custom rom on my phone, just a stock rooted phone.

If everything is 100% stock except the recovery , you have to flash the stock recovery back. It tries to update to JB but it runs in an error because of the (what i assume now) custom cwm recovery

No, I have not perform the JB update yet.
I am just trying to access the recovery at HBoot but got that error.
Is there a way to check if it is stock recovery or custom cwm recovery?

Don't know really, well if you flash the stock recovery over the existing one you will have for certain the stock
And if you downloaded the update it will continue to try to update everytime you enter the recovery, you said you are using clockworkmod recovery (5.8.4.0 ?)

I dont think so, it should either be 5.8.2.7 or 5.8.3.1.
I just hope to upgrade to JB without losing my root.

I think for the moment I would just like to have a stock JB OTA update and hoping that it wont wipe up the setup I currently have in my phone.

If you go into HBOOT and select recovery and you are getting those green arrows, you have the right recovery for installing the JB stock OTA so you don't need CWM yet, Does it say relocked or locked at the top of the HBOOT screen mate?
If it's unlocked, run the command, "fastboot oem lock" as you need to have the HBOOT locked with stock recovery installed for the OTA to install
Also the OTA won't delete any apps or settings

Actually, that exclamation mark you are mentioning is ringing alarm bells, you may need to reflash the stock recovery via fastboot, can you post a pic of the recovery screen you get? I will be home in an hour and can upload the file you need

At HBOOT, the green arrows is follow by a red exclamation mark if I select recovery, so I can still install JB OTA?

Hi home now
what you need to do is put the attachment into your fastboot folder (where your unlocktoken.bin was when you unlocked your bootloader.)
Since your bootloader is unlocked, boot your phone into fastboot and then connect it to your pc
open a command prompt and link it to your fastboot folder (cd c:\fastboot - or whatever your path to this folder is)
then type the command:
fastboot flash recovery recovery_signed_1.28.img
then type the command
fastboot oem lock
your Hboot/bootloader should then say relocked at the top and you will have the stock recovery installed.
reboot the phone, download the update and before long you should be basking in the fabled JB goodness

Are we sure he needs the 1.28 stock recovery and not for example the 2.17 stock recovery.....these are different ?!
Please do this command in fastboot USB mode
Fastboot getvar version-main and post the result ....if it starts with 2.17 you need this recovery

[Q] HTC One X rooted, can I still get OTA?

Hello everyone.
I just rooted my phone using hasson2000 all in one tool kit, and everything works great.
I am in the UK, with network called Three. (currently waiting for the JB update)
I am currently running android 4.0.4 with sense 4.1.
My question to you folks is will be able to receive OTA updates?
I have heard having a unlocked boot loader prevents the phone from receiving OTA updates.... is this true ?
And will re-locking the bootloader mean I will be able to download OTA update?
I know this is a lot to ask, but as this is my first time I am still what you might call me a noob.
Any help would me much appreciated.

If you did NOT make any changes to the rom, like deleting bloatware and system apps. Then you are still able to fully update the phone. Bootloader can stay unlocked and root too. Don't worry about that.
What you need is
1: stock rom (root is no problem)
2: stock boot.img
3: stock recovery

I'm using the stock rom, haven't touched anything. But i am not using the stock recovery - currently using twrp.
Will i still be able to receive ota updates with a custom recovery? or do I have to do the whole ruu thing?

No you can check and receive ota's you are just not able to actually update, you need to flash back the stock recovery to update. That's all :thumbup:

Say I decide to update my phone, can I just flash the stock factory recovery?
And does flashing stock recovery mean I lose super su and root previlages?

No you only lose the SU when you officially update the phone. Flashing back the stock recovery will not change the rom or root !

Yeah if you rename my file to
Recovery.img
Then copy it to the fastboot folder on the pc, put the phone in fastboot usb mode and flash with commands
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Fastboot erase cache
This will flash the stock over the twrp recovery ....then you are able to receive and update the phone

Unfortunately, I do not have the fastboot files as I used hason2000s all in one toolkit.

I flashed the stock recovery and it works. Still no update, but hey I at least know how to flash recovery.

i just bought a secound hand used htc one x and i found out that it was rooted and i am experiencing problems with the battary and the overheating so i was told that i should update to jb but there no menu for that in the device so guys plz help me

To check for any update on your one x, go in settings - scroll to about - then click software update. By the way do you know android version you are running?

Please my htc one x is s-on , HBOOT 0.96 and unlocked i got a virus on my htc so i formatted my sd and now i am stuck on the white screen.

I did the command then restart the phone but nothing happened

First how is the battery ? Charge it in the recovery if needed. You need at least 30% of power for this !!
1: put the phone in the bootloader and lock the bootloader
Fastboot oem lock
Keep the phone in the bootloader and execute the ruu with admin rights (right click the ruu.exe and select it)
This will flash the phone to stock android 4.0.4 sense 4.1. After this all you go into the settings and check for manual updates, update it to JB !

Check in the phone
Settings - about - softwareupdates and do manual searching now !

I did the same stupid thing with my HTC One (v. 1.29.651.7) I cant find an RUU to restore. Any suggestions?

I've been running LeeDrOiD now since last May and i've bean really happy with it but i now feel it might be time to move on to Jellybean.
I was just wondering what other LeeDrOiD users moved on to?
I quite like the look of Team Venom viperX but maybe there's a better option.

first, update your hboot version mate so that you won't encounter any problem. And look no further, ViperX has the most customizable and best-looking rom currently available!

KERNEL - STOCK
RECOVERY - TWRP 2.4.1.0

I've already downloaded the firmware update with HBOOT 1.39 in, can i just flash that and still keep with LeeDrOiD temporarily?

You must reflash a rom. Because you must relock and after unlock the bootloader,it will factory reset the phone so the rom is gone ......
I say backup what you need ..... Flash the firmware and also update the recovery if you didn't already. Then flash a clean cool JB Rom

I didn'r realize you have relock the bootloader too, never done that before.

Fastboot oem lock
Unlock

And yes 5.8.4.0 is fine....but you mentioned you where on leedroid since last May.....I thought I mention to update the recovery

Just to clarify the correct order of play, at what point do i relock and why?

you relock the bootloader and do the whole firmware flash
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
then you unlock the bootloader, flash the custom recovery and install a new rom including flashing its boot.img file with fastboot commands
fastboot flash boot boot.img
and dont forget to do a full wipe in the recovery before you install the rom.zip

Heck! Bit more involved than i was expecting then.
It's bin a while since i've done any of this, will have to do some backups and go for it when i have more time at the weekend.

I had a bit of spare time on my hands tonight so i went for it.
I am now running ViperX 3.3.7 and so far so good.
