Hi,
I am planning to sell my phone, HTC Droid Incredible 2. I do not want to leave any traces of my data. For this, what all things should I delete?
There is also a 16gb memory card. Should I also format it?
Guys please help me out soon. I am gonna sell it within few hours.
Thanks.
If you're giving it with the memory card, format it. Factory reset, flash back to stock, that's about it.

I am already on stock. Will factory reset be enough?
format sdcard
if you are including your sdcard in the sale, make sure to format that as well, can be done in the storage area in settings.

Its been a while since I've been unlocked rooted and running custom roms. When you switch roms you have to wipe data factory reset. Do you loose pics, music, anything on the SD card part of our memory? Thanks

No you don't... You do however when you unlock your bootloader which is needed when you start rooting and flashing. Don't know if yours is unlocked allready. That will wipe your entire device. If you have done that: keep it unlocked and you will be fine the next time you want to change ROMs.
The "SD Card" is located in /data/media/.
A factory reset in any custom recovery ignores that folder.
So no, you don't lose anything.
Just make sure you aren't factory resetting with the STOCK recovery as it DOES erase the SD.
ClockworkMod, TWRP, Etc: do not.
Thanks for the quick help!!! Yes its unlocked and rooted already running liquid 1.4 but I think I wanna start to test some other roms. Thanks again!!!!

I have flashed multiple roms since I purchased my s3 a few weeks ago. I really want to get all the leftover junk off my phone from the multiple flashes. Will odining back to stock take all the leftover trash off my internal SD card? Is there any other method that can restore my internal SD card to factory freshness? What task does FORMAT/ SYSTEM perform? Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.

Odin back to stock, then go to settings, then back up and reset, then do a factory data reset. It will wipe your sd card, all the apps, data, everything.
I just visited the FAQ & I saw that if I flash a ROM it will wipe my internal storage. Is there a way around that or is that gonna become a part of life for owning the S3? And also, when flashing a ROM, do you always to flash that firmware/modemAIO.zip? Sorry if these questions have already been asked but like I said, I'm new to the S3(not new to android/flashing ROMs)

When first flashing you want to make a back up on your computer . So back up your internal sd and external sd if you have one . To do so you will need to install the samsung drivers on your computer. The modem firmware is only flashed if the rom hour flashing is not updated with the latest n greatest which most are . Be sure to only flash roms that your carrier specific. Let us know how it goes.

It only wipes your internal if you choose the option to wipe data in recovery

Well yes, of course. Most ROMs call for you to wipe data/factory reset to flash them. My question was if there is a way to wipe your data without wiping the internal storage.

Nope, sure isn't
I'm sorry but wiping data/factory reset will not delete your internal storage. If it did then I would never be able to flash any roms or kernels lol. It wipes your data clean and any stored personal info and accounts, allowing a clean install of a new rom. All your stored pictures, files, downloads will remain intact.

Flastnoles11, what are you hitting that it clears? Internal SD or External SD do not get touched on factory wipe reset. You should not loose anything.

Idk man but it clears out my entire internal storage when I hit wipe data... even warns that internal storage will be wiped before hand...

Ahh, I see, I'm hitting format data when I should be hitting factory reset! Lol... what I said still holds true though, internal storage is only wiped if you select wipe (or format I guess) data.. thanks bud, thought it was weird that kept happening.. learn something new everyday

No he was just hitting the wrong option. You only need to hit wipe/factory reset when installing a new rom and it will not wipe your internal or external.

You dont loose anything stored on the internal memory . But you always want make a back up to your computer or make a nand back up just in case something goes wrong in the process.
I just got an extended battery and wanted to wipe my internal SD so I can have a clean start and flash revolt with lightning kernel. I have no access to a computer. Would it be safe to put the ROM on my SD then wipe internal, then flash all in one recovery session? Thanks
It is probably ok. Although just to be sure I would stick a reboot in between.

But if I reboot I wouldn't be able to get back into recovery though right? Or would it not wipe that part?
If you just wipe internal only you still have a rom. If you format system your rom is gone. And you can just reboot recovery its much faster. You can go ahead and try it all at once. Worst outcome is you reflash the rom. No biggie

Yeah I just wanted to do a complete internal SD wipe, I didn't want to get locked out with no recovery. I'll wipe, then reboot then wipe ROM I guess then flash

If you go to settings/storage and format your internal, it will wipe it clean, but you'll still have your ROM.Just did it the other day.

Thanks guys. It's just internal SD, not sure why I was thinking about the internal phone storage.

Well to me internal phone storage is internal sd card. The reason I didnt say for you to wipe that in setting is because I was unsure of the rom. As far as I can remember some stock roms had the brick bug still in it if you access the wipe by settings> storage.

Either way, I'm on a night shift and tired as hell, didn't think it through haha. Thanks for the help

Hi, i just got my nexus and have flashed a rom onto it but i want to try another rom and dont want to do a full factory reset and scrub and loose all my stuff on my internal storage.
I have used a superwipe script on my previous smart phones, is there something like this available yet? if not how do i go about changing roms without deleting from my internal storage?
Thanks for any help:good:
Well to try a different ROM, your going to have to factory reset, that doesn't mean it wipes the internal memory though. Just put the ROM on the root of the tab, and flash it. Shouldn't wipe anything off the tab besides data and cache, leaving everything else intact.
