My camera lens is damaged. I want to repair it - HTC One X

Hey guys, the HOX device have a little problem that the camera is too easy to damage and vonrable.
Anyway I want to repair mine.
I found on ebay that I can order the camera lens.
The question is when I get it, how can i change it with the original camera lens glass.
Is it easy to install it? And how do I do it?
Thanks.

If you are refering to the glass on the back cover, i'm afraid you have to replace the back cover completely. If it's the camera module which is broken, you have to disassemble the back cover of the One X and replace the damaged part. Probably you will need a special tool to remove it.
Good luck if try it yourself!
Sorry for bad english

Are you sure?
Try to get into: ebay.com
Search for HTC one X lens.
You will find there something pretty cheap and looks like what im looking for.
I don't see there any need to buy and replace the whole plastic...

this is the like by the way:
ebay.com/itm/Silver-Camera-Cam-Ring-Frame-Lens-Cover-Replacement-Repair-Tools-For-HTC-One-X-/330779268339?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d03fb14f3
nvm... I cant post a like because I dont have 10 massage here yet.
just search on ebay: "one x camera lens"
you will find it first thing

He is right, the whole back cover has to be replaced mate, the actual lense is built into the polycarbinate cover.
You may be able to replace the lens by itself, but this myfriend is what you call a "Bodge job".

Wow... Thats pretty sucks.
Than how do I replace the whole cover?
Is it hard? Can I do it by myself? And can I order from ebay this back cover part?

use this Video to see the opening Process
youtube.com/watch?v=r-vdrbiBePA&feature=related

Thanks, looks pretty hard I hope i will not break anything...

You can also just use Crystalusion Liquid Glass to try and fill the scratches.

I wanted to order one but, I am afraid I won't be able to change it properly and screw up my phone! Is there any video/picture guide on how to change the housing on the arc?
I tried to replace the blue housing to silver before. There's pda file about how to change it properly. In my experience, the hardest part is how to remove the lcd from the housing(need a special tool for it), the rest is actually pretty easy.
Oh here's the instruction and pdf
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1086178
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1123609
So you managed to replace it?
I need to change the front buttons, how hard/dangerous would that be be?
i already did it once before, so it shouldn't be too hard for me. For the LCD part, because the entire lcd is glued with the housing, it takes a bit skills to remove it.
For the front buttons: you need to separate cover rear and the front housing, then remove the sub pba. After that you can replace the front button. As long as you follow the instruction from the pdf, then it shouldn't be too hard(in my experience).
I'm very interested in it, please can you upload some pics when you'll receive it?
wow, original?
well ya, that's what the seller said. It will takes times to ship, i will post some pics when it arrives.

I'm waiting! I have never heard about this housing
Wow, thats what Im looking for cause my camera has a scratch.... Cool
*edit*
In the working instructions it says, that two peaces cant be reused (ant gps flex & audio jack). Thats true? no way to remove it undamaged??
Sent from my LT15i using XDA App
oh, that 2 peaces i can actually reuse it after for some reason without any problem.
(Maybe it said the mid housing can't be reuse because it use tape to stick both peaces on the housing, so once it removed from the (old) housing, the tape on the old housing can't be reuse because it is not sticky anymore.
Still waiting for the housing, hopefully it will arrive soon....( i hate canada custom, always take forever....)
I bought it from a German store so it will hopefully arrive today or tomorrow. I take some pics of the"not reuseable" parts.
Wohoo, I will not have a scratch at my camera.

If so, where do you get it?

yes you need special tool to remove LCD panel. I bought the tool from dollar shop(suction cup) and it works well lol.(However, you still need to find a way to hold ur housing while you remove the lcd panel.)

Not, think best way to do is with HTC Warrenty.
Or if you already bought a new housing, go to a repair center en give the housing with the phone to let them fix it.

It might be wrong, but I guess you can open the phone by pushing the bottom part where the sensor buttons are down and to the back so the polycarbonate case peels off like a casemate case or so... I played around a bit and saw that possibility I'll return my One X because of flickering issues the second time, so I won't open it!!!

yes i think this is a possibility there is a mechanism in place
my one x came out of box with slight softness to the left side, i pressed this whole area down and it locked
no problems otherwise, no flickering, i wish we can figure it out ourselves and be done with this whole flex thing

Replacing the lens cover of the camera

The little square plastic cover of my camera lens has got a ding in it. Has anyone else replaced one of these and if so how difficult is it. Also where could I source one from? Thanks in advance.

I replaced the whole back part at a samsung official technical shop because of a scratch but if it's not a scratch, just open it and clean it with pressurised air (but it's a bit risky because you might loose warranty)
here's a guide i googled ... : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65pvAINg2ME&feature=related
Hi Nik
Thanks for the reply......
Are you saying it was done by someone else? How much did they charge you? Warranty isn't a consideration but obtaining the part may be difficult.

I bought the part from ebay for about 12 CAD shipped and replaced it myself. Quick and easy job, took about 10 minutes altogether.
Great video, it actually looks fairly easy to replace the back cover...thanks man that's a big help

Yes it was done by samsung's affiliated repair shop in France, it was because le little plastic was scratched very hard with sand (beach etc) so all photos i would take were blured with a white fog
I'm not a huge fan of opening anything except my computer but i'm sure it could be done easily since it's just opening and cleaning (or whatever, i have not really understood what happened to you camera )
to find the part, i found someone on xda that had provided a link to the original parts of the samsung galaxy S2 for like 10 bucks which was very difficult to find because as a french i wasn't knowing the exact word for the "backplate or whatever it is"
now i know it, just google "galaxy S2 original housing" and you'll find plenty results like this one here (assuming you have to change the whole back cover )
and last things it cost me 25€ for the back only with no extra battery cover which is a bit overpriced :V
I actually just wanted to change the mid part to white to have the contrasting black/white lol. just give my phone a bit more character. The hardest part about replacing the housing though was taking the speaker out of the old one and putting it in the new one (where the hump is).
Fixed
Wow...that was easier than I expected. The kit is the same quality as the original as far as I can tell. The case cost me about $30on ebay.
Following the video I'd say that most people could probably repair their phones without too much trouble.
Thanks for your help
Have anybody actually tried to change only the camera lens cover?
I can find the part here on ebay, but I can't seem to find any instruntion or teardown on how to exchange it.
Is it glued on?

I've done this, and it's relatively simple.
1. Remove battery cover and battery (you can remove micro sd and sim if you like).
2. Remove the 7 screws with a precision screwdriver, do not lose.
3. Carefully pry back half of phone from front half (I just used my thumb nails), be careful not to lose volume & power buttons.
4. The lens cover has three tabs that enter from the outside of the phone, and fold over on the inside to prevent it moving. Fold these out so that they are vertical (in doing so mine broke, but this does not matter as we are installing a new lens cover).
5. Once tabs are vertical, push lens cover out (this may take some persuasion).
6. Install new lens cover, fold tabs back and put phone back together.
Let me know if you need photos or further details.

Replacement back cover

Hi Guys,
From youtube videos (I know great source of info) it seems that removing back cover on HOX is quite easy.
So two questions come to mind first one no one makes entire back cover replacements in many colours?
Also anyone know where I could get the least original white back cover?
I want to sell my HOX and camera lens is scratched. Does not interfer with pictures due to location of it but still.
Cheers,
Luka
I found a lot of them when looking for a black and white one.

it's not that simple!!
at first you will void your warranty as soon as you detach the cover...then believe me that it's very difficult and you could damage the inner frame or other components, since there's a lot of glue that make you feel the phone very solid in your hands...
but believe me that it's a real pain to change the cover...the most difficult part of opening your phone...
however you should do it just if it's stricly necessary imho...
Nah it's really easy. Takes 10 mins to switch over. There is no glue really. For the most part it is clipped on.
I say go for it. I got my white original cover off ebay for £30.
my camera lens also got little scratched. Is there any chance to replace it only? anyone with the same problem?

My One X has a creaking corner, where the original back cover seems to give in a little. Any guesses if getting a replacement (because the camera lens also has a few scratches) would help? Maybe the fit would be better... or is the creaking problem something related to how the phone itself sits inside the cover, and getting a new back would be pointless?
Has someone experiences with cases from Hong Kong?
They are cheaper and include the SIM Tray...
Sent from my iPad 2 using Tapatalk
After putting the whole thing back together, doesn't the phone start creaking, especially at the bottom part?
No
Opened mine 2 times and the bottom fits better than when it came out of the box.
Only opened it to clean the camera lens from inside and always used the same cover it came with.

Great! That's really nice to hear.

I think that work. I'm gonna buy too maybe. My photos now are blurry and no focus.
I suspect this is a screen out job to fit. Anyone tried?
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Mine is still fine, so I won't have to change it by now.
But I assume that you might just use the little plastic lens instead of the whole ring so screen out wouldn't be needed
I just ordered the eBay lens and round frame only. My lens actually has a crack in it (if yours is just scratched, it can generally be buffed out). Before I ordered it, I tried prying along the LED flash to see if I could get the current one to lift up. Going slowly and carefully around the perimeter, I popped off the current lens cover. It can be done, and is sure a heckuva lot easier than removing the entire back housing.
How you do?

Hey Clitoridys,
Can you please explain what kind of glass you used for this and what scissors? Did you have to paste the new glass lens into place?
My hox+ lens is slowly getting fkd more so everyday and I'd like to replace with glass rather than plastic.
