I have been using the stock 4.0.4 ics software on my arc s.
Not really happy with ics. I want to roll back to gingerbread. I dont have any idea about rooting phones.
Pls help me out if anybody knows the way to rollback to stock 2.3.6. Gingerbread software.
Provide with the name of relevant softwares n firmware link.
Well first of all there's no 2.3.6 for the arc. The last GB version we have is 2.3.4.
That being said I'm sure if you search hard you'll find the ftf files for GB. Might be hard since ICS has been the main topic nowadays but go search and you should find something.

Not an issue but just want GB back anyhow!
Before you downgrade your arc s from ICS to GB, you must backup data, contacts, messages, etc. Else, you will lose all data, contacts, messages in phone. This downgrade method (flash method) not delete your SD card data.
1) Install Flashtool. Flashtool file can get from:-
http://androxyde.github.com/
2) After install Flashtool, install ADB driver from Flashtool\drivers folder (file name: Flashtool-drivers). Make sure check the component "Sony Ericsson Xperia arc,...drivers" during Flashtool driver installation.
3) Get GB firmware (4.0.2.A.0.62) for your phone model. The firmware can get from:-
http://xperiadev.wordpress.com/flashing/xperia-ftf-firmwares/
4) Enable USB Debugging before connect your phone with computer. Go to phone [Settings->Developer options-> Check "USB Debugging"].
5) Connect your phone to computer.
6) Launch Flashtool program. [Don't click on the Flashmode (Thunder icon)]
7) Drag and drop the *.ftf (firmware files in ftf format) into Flashtool main window and the Flashmode window will automatically open with the *.ftf file.
8) Check "Wipe data", "Wipe cache" and "No final verification" at right hand side of Flashmode window, then click "OK".
9) A messages pop-up (1-Unplug the device,...,4-Plug the USB cable). Turn off phone, press and hold "BACK" button, then connect the phone to computer.
10) It will start flashing the firmware.
11) Once completed, disconnect phone from computer.
12) The phone will reboot automatically. Done. If you do everything correctly, GB will be installed on your phone now.

If you want root access on .62 build - flash any available custom GB kernel and you will be fine.

Then flash .62 build (or better - the more unknown, Germany exclusive .69 build ) thru Flashtool.

Hi just scrolling thru.I am on 4.0.4/0.587 too.Tried flashing down.562 but when i did the root it got stuck midway. After that i had force close issues.I then downloaded SEUS and did a factory reset and got updated back to 4.0.4/.587.Right now on my windows7 i have:
1)SEUS
2)PC companion
3)SDK
4)Java JRE
5)Flashtool
and Rooting toolkit
I am sure one of this actually screwed up my root.I was just wondering if this could help me do an easier root process and than get back to
ICS.
maybe your .562 isn't flashable. I know for sure that this one is flashable. try it out

Ok, so basically my Xperia play used to work fine on WiFi on (2.3.2I think?), but have been on 2.3.3 for ages; and all my WiFi does on it is connect, disconnect, re-connect. This will go in an endless loop and I cannot use it
I updated to 2.3.4 hoping it would work afterwards, but no, still the same problem.. It there a simple fix for this? Or will I have to downgrade (if that's possible) to fix it?
I haven't tampered with my phone at all, it's an UK factory unlocked one.. I REALLY need my WiFi back..
Thanks in advance!
Might be a conflicting app or something, couldn't you just backup and flash the newest rom or 2.3.3 rom/erase data and see if it works?
An easier way would be unlocking the bootloader, flashing doom's kernel and backing up in CWM then reflashing etc

I would suggest that you first try a hard reset on the router. If problem remains check if you can update the router firmware.
What router model is it?

Try connecting to other Wi-fi networks if it's still not working then try changing some wifi advanced settings by pressing the options buttin on wifi settings and select advanced, change the channels, if it still doesnt work go back to 2.3.2 and if it works fine from there then...?
My LT15i got upgraded to .62 version via OTA and I wanted to downgrade it to .42 to root it safely and easily. Something didn't work out and after flashing the downgrade my phone got bootlooped. I downloaded different official ROMs to go back to, but I can't flash them

Any ideas what can I do? I didn't use fastboot since I'm not sure what should I do with it, just flashtool.
Just keep flashing it or use Update Service to repair it.
There are dozens of generic ROMs.
e.g. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1491066
Use Flashtool repeatedly.. doesn't always work the first time around..
Does the LED indicator change after a while of being plugged in in flash mode? Check this, as I kept having the same issue. I just kept yanking the cable out and plugging it back in and repeating the procedure over and over until it fianlly flashed the kernel for me.
Was using arcknight kernel when i got stuck in bootloop, flashed to stock kernel and repaired over SEUS before unlocking BL and rooting once again using zergrush
Follow these steps.
pre requisites - Rooted/Bootloader unlocked.
1. Download the Flash tool.
2. Download the generic global rom - LT15i 4.0.2.A.0.42 (.ftf) [Search in the forum]
3. Flash the ftf using flash tool. (google how to flash using flash tool. There are numerous threads)
4. Once you successfully installed .42 firmware. [Using flashtool root the mobile using zergrush method. if u want]
5. Install busybox using flash tool.
6. Install x-parts from play store to install the CWM.
That's it.

The problem is, I used to have root and CWM installed, but now I can't enter it, because when I flash the ROM, it gets stuck in certain moment. I'm stuck somewhere between 3 and 4 point, where my flashtool doesn't correctly flash the ROM onto my Lt15i. From this bootloop I can't reach CWM or normal system to enter the google play or something.
I'll keep on trying flashing it, I'll also try to flash it from another computer
Is it possible that flashtool is being blocked by certain application like, I don't know, PC companion?
Additionally, I can't go back to the stock ROM via PC companion or SEUS, because when I'm in flashmode and phone is ready to flash, the PC companion says that my phone is already upgraded and there are no new updates to it, so it can't be upgraded, even tho there is some old flashed ROM inside ( I think PC companion reads the old ROM, that I used to have before bootloop, I believe it was the 4.0~~~~.62 version)

Hi Everyone,
Can anyone help me out in rooting my Xperia Arc Lt15i?
I'm trying to use the SuperOneClick to root my device but I don't know how, it so much complicated. Even through I followed the steps in online but I stuck in the middle of the steps. Does anyone could kindly please post up any good instruction for me to go on for the root process?
*I have downgrade it to 0.42
I'm a new android user.
okies i'm going to assume you want to have the latest version of android OS on your arc
1. Download a ready to root ftf for your Lt15i. Here is one
2. Use flashtool to flash the ftf onto your phone. There are a lot of tutorials on youtube, but here's one I thought was great.
3. Download this and unzip it. Put your phone in debugging mode and plug the phone to the PC. Run the 'RunMe.bat' file and the file should root your phone automatically.
4. When the program says 'done', close it.
5. afterwards, download this kernel and flash it to your phone and you're done!

Thanks for providing the instruction for me. Anyway I've flashed my phone with the reference here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1560777 with the link provided by jlmcr87 for the firmware and flashtool. So it became from version 0.62 into 0.42. But the tutorials on youtube was something 0.283? Looks weird. Can you tell me whats the difference?
The only difference is the version of firmware you are flashing. You can always update it through pc companion once you've flashed the firmware

Hey,
seems you need to flash an older firmware:

(question 2)
the tutorials related should help!
Also, you might want to back up apps and things because flashing a firmware resets your device.

not necessarily.
i haven't tried this on the .79, but as it works for .69 it most likely works for it aswell.
take a look at this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1299729
Yes but that's for unlocking the bootloader.
You can root anything after that, however if you don't want to do it then 62 is the limit, at least according to the stickied FAQ, which I'm assuming would have been updated had it not been the case, no?

afaik unlocking the bootloader is just for flashing a custom firmware (cm7 in that guide) and is not needed to get it rooted.
No, you can flash a firmware without unlocking. (firmware (like .79 or .62) =/= rom (like CM7) =/= kernel (Doom LuPus etc))
Honestly, it's all in the effing FAQ in post 2.
Unlocking voids your warranty but allows you to install custom kernels, which are pre-rooted. However it's not required if all you want is a root access to debloat your stock rom. In OP's case, he wants an older firmware to get root with superone click zergrush method (because he's above .62).
However it's true it's not needed to unlock the BL to get root in general, just if you want to root above .62 and don't want to downgrade (and are willing to void your warranty for it)
Note: flashing roms doesn't actually void your warranty seeing as you just have to factory reset before sending your phone to customer service if you ever need to. But you can't relock your bootloader, because you need a key from sony to do it, and so they keep a record of you voiding your warranty in the process.

If you want everything stock do next (this works, I have the 79 fw in my Xperia right now with stock ROM and Kernel):
1. With Flashtool, flash the 4.0.2.A.0.79 firmware (Don't close flashtool)
2. Disconnect the Xperia and connect it in Fastboot.
3. In flashtool go to mode selector and select Fastboot mode
4. Now go to "Select kernel to HotBoot"
5. Select the "recoveryPlay.img" that I put in the attachments. Wait for your phone to reboot into the recovery by itself, don't disconnect yet.
6. Now in the recovery select "Install zip from SD card" and flash the "RootXperia.zip" that I put in the attachments.
7. Restart and disconnect your phone. Now you should have the phone rooted.
Go to Google Play and update the superuser app. Then open Superuser and update the su binary.
If you have the bootloader unlocked you can flash any kernel (Lupus or Doomlord) and thats enough. That Kernels are rooted.

Will this work on the r800x model as well? I tried the method " [HOW-TO][zergRush Root] Root w/ v2.2.x-2.3.x (NOT ICS 4.x or GB after 11/2011)" but it is GB after 11/2011 and did not work. If this wont work how else can I do this? I would also like to unlock the bootloader and install JellyBean for my son but I am not sure what really the disadvantages are of doing it. We just got the phone today and I havent never had Sony Phones.

After installing xposed and Wifi Hack for the google play to work on reverse tethering. I used the update/install function on framework pannel. After installing xposed and Wifi Hack for the google play to work on reverse tethering. I used the update/install function on framework pannel. After it the phone simply rebooted itself and now it stops on the boot animation. On the middle of the screen there these color blury lines. PC doesn't recognize the phone. It will charge up the battery but system doesn't even see the phone. (I am using Win7 and a stock rom 4.1.2 JB)

Your phone is not breaked i think it's just a problem with the rom, you can reflash the current rom (wipe data & everything). If it's important to you to keep the current rom and if you have unlocked Bootloader and have Recovery, then go to the Recovery and flash Xposed-Disabler-Recovery.zip located in Internal SD root.

If you already unlocked Bootloader, you can flash a CWM integrated stock kernel from here and flash it via Flashtool or fastboot, then turn on the phon and when LED turns on press Vol+ side buttons to turn the LED blue, then select "Install from Zip" and select Xposed-Disabler-Recovery.zip . then reboot and thats it!

Flashtool doesn't have Xperia M in “Flashtool-drivers”
Bro in the flashtool driver installer just select the flashmode drivers and xperia p,xperia u drivers because you won't find xperia m drivers in that.

Hello Abrakader225,
the easiest way to fix this is to reflash the phone using Sony Update Service or you can use Flashtool to flash a firmware file.
You can find flashtool at this url:
http://www.flashtool.net/index.php
Simply install it and after that go to the drivers folder of Flashtool and install the Fastboot, Flashmode and device specific drivers. After you've done that, download this FTF file and put it in Flashtools firmware folder:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701246
Then open Flashtool and press the bolt, and then pick Flashmode and select the firmware file, then press flash and put your phone in Flashmode.
I hope that my answer helped you and I hope that you'll get your phone up and running soon, have a great day!
