Titanium Backup question - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I have the full paid version of TB. If I create the zip file to install TB in recovery mode, does that install the full paid version or will it just install the free version?

I believe that just installs the free version but if you have a backup of your pro key just restore that & then restart TB.

As long as you don't wipe the "External" memory you will be fine. That is where your registration sits, therefor just wiping System/Data/Cache and installing a new ROM with TB you will be running TB in it's paid version.

Just FYI. After installing the zip on a new rom, I had the full paid version and not the free one.

[Q] titanium backup question

PAID VERSION IS THE MOST USEFUL APP ON MARKET!
Now that i got that out of the way...
Am I correct in my assumption that the "create update.zip" function on TB will create a zip that i can flash in amon ra and restore all of my apps from recovery and not have to boot download tb and then restore ?
No, the update.zip just flashes TB so you don't have to download it.
You still have to manually restore apps.
And I agree, it's the best purchase I've made from the market... aside from Root Explorer

Your settings for Titanium Backup are stored on your SD card, so when you switch roms they're automatically recognized.

I never bought root explorer, I like es file manager cuz it gives the same permissions.
I'm just the opposite. I like Root Explorer over File Manager, which reminds me to much of Astro.
As for TB, only backup and restore the apps/data that you installed, not your system and on board Google stuff.

[Q] How to install apps at cwm?

How to install apps at cwm?
When I install new rom, I have some apps to install, but I should install file utility app first.
if possible, please let me know how to install apps at cwm.
Thanks in advance.
Well gapps is exactly the same as installing the rom, if it a general app then why would you do it through cwm? If its on your SD then download a file manager and install through there, make sure you have unknown sources checked in settings as well

you mean flashable zip? just choose "install zip from sd card" like you choose zip for ROM
Are you trying to say each time you flash a Rom you want an automatic way of installing your applications after?
You could just make an 'update.zip' that contain your applications.

if you want your app included in your rom.
you can extract the rom.
and pick your app to "system/app/" after that zip your rom like before.
and then flash the zip via CWM.

Does your comment mean simply making apps into zip file?
app1, app2, app3, .. -> 7zip -> apps.zip

A simple way to create an update.zip is with e.g.: Titanium BackUp. It has an option for it. Just pick all apps you want and it creates a flashable zip file.

edit: I just realized I gave you "false info", TB only creates update.zip, which only contains Titanium BackUp app... sooory...

Yes, manually delete the files that the update.zip installed, of course you would then have to replace the originals if it replaced any. Best thing is to create a backup before installing.

Or just install any backup app from market like (my backup) and backup your apps. then just restore backup you made when flash new rom.

So basically I have to reinstall the ROM because I had no backup :crying:
Well thanks anyway!
There is an app in Play Store named "App2Zip". Try it!

TWRP Backup Can't Be Deleted

I was backing up the Rom I'm using. Jedi X11 (I back up every 4 weeks) when during the process it says "back up failed".
Something to do with the MD5.
Now in the back ups folder I got this weird folder that I can't delete. I activated the necessary permissions and it says delete failed.
The contents also can't be deleted.
Any idea on how I can delete them?

I see your using root explorer.
Select the file you want to delete with a long press, not a tap.
Press and hold down the selected file until another Window pops up and gives you the option to delete it.
Yeah I got through to that but it just says "delete failed".

Your ext sdcard might be failing. Same thing happened to me. Get your stuff off the card just in case. Go back in recovery and go to settings or advanced and select use internal sdcard for now.

If that fails, formatting wouldn't be a bad idea right?

See attached pic for help
This method never fails, if it fails in an app.
Boot to twrp and use the terminal in there
Also because there is a funky character in the name. You may need to just delete the backup folder. .. Since I don't see any other files in there if shouldn't be an issue

UPDATE: did the GooManager install method, but when i reboot to recovery the TWRP touch interface isn't there, just a basic push button recovery with no backup or restore options? do I try again? do I need to remove the initial install first & if so, how? would CWM be a better option on 4.1.2?
UPDATE: after messing with it, and discovering I can't use CWM, I basically just need help on how to completely remove all traces of & the app itself from my phone so I can do a fresh install, just uninstalling it doesn't help. When i reinstall the program it doesn't give me the chance to reinstall the script, like its already there but messed up somehow. phone is still rooted & functions fine. go figure
FIXED!!

Figured out that all I had to do was reflash the .tar file of TWRP 2.4.4.0 manually with ODIN & it worked. Didn't reset my device at all. :victory:
Thanks to anyone & everyone who helped & put up with my NOOB to Samsung, ODIN, etc.. Hopefully day 2 with this phone goes a bit more smoothly.
Don't know what I'd do without this site!
As this topic came up top on Google for 'TWRP backup can't be deleted' I thought I would add that I managed to delete the backup by changing to the non touch CWM. I did this with the play store Rom Manager so I did not have to flash from download or Odin :good:
Use Data/Media insted of sdcard/ solved
I just had the same problem, wanted to delete 2 failed TWRP backups from my internal memory, had a good backup on my external, all delete attempts failed.
No need to flash or install anything... I used ES file Explorer.. (any root file Explorer should work).
Changed the path on top to (Data/Media) and browse to your backup, delete successful
Had to reboot to see the new free space back.

[Q] CWM recovery browser

Anyone know of any tools that can open a nandroid I made on cwm 6? I lost a db of a program and have an old nandroid, but can't seem to find a program that will explore a backup image made with cwm6 that runs on a PC. There's a nandroid browser on the play store but only works on cwm <6
Titanium Backup should be able to extract from both TWRP and CWM nandroids.
Not sure if the free version does, but the paid one will.

Backup of Rom Manager backup

Hi guys
Maybe I'm a moron for not being able to find the answer to this but here goes:
I can see that with ROM Manager my backups are stored in a "safe" location out of reach no matter which file manager I'm using. And then with ROM Manager Premium it's possible to transfer these backup to your PC. But how do I get a backup transferred back to my phone if I need that? I haven't been able to find any information about how to do that.
So before I invest in RM Premium can anyone tell me if this is possible?
"Backups can be pulled using adb or by using ROM Manager Backup Download Sever." To use the sever method go to ROM Manager -> Manage and Restore Backups -> Download Backups It should start a server and show a link you put into your computer browser which will download the backups

Yes as I understand it that's Phone -> PC. But what about the other way?
I've just reinstalled it to have a look at the options. I've never used it for at least a year.
From what I understand now (I didn't want to flash cwm) when you store them on a PC they're on a .zip format. To restore you just copy it back to your internal storage/sdcard then use the backup/restore option.
Personally I wouldn't buy the premium. I did long ago but it's outdated and rarely updated.
Best option for backing up is Titanium Backup Pro. Constantly updated and responsive devs.
There are loads of free options. You can even use something like obackup to perform online nandroid backups or just even use recovery and perform a nandroid.
