[Q] How to install apps at cwm? - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How to install apps at cwm?
When I install new rom, I have some apps to install, but I should install file utility app first.
if possible, please let me know how to install apps at cwm.
Thanks in advance.

Well gapps is exactly the same as installing the rom, if it a general app then why would you do it through cwm? If its on your SD then download a file manager and install through there, make sure you have unknown sources checked in settings as well

you mean flashable zip? just choose "install zip from sd card" like you choose zip for ROM

Are you trying to say each time you flash a Rom you want an automatic way of installing your applications after?
You could just make an 'update.zip' that contain your applications.

if you want your app included in your rom.
you can extract the rom.
and pick your app to "system/app/" after that zip your rom like before.
and then flash the zip via CWM.

Does your comment mean simply making apps into zip file?
app1, app2, app3, .. -> 7zip -> apps.zip

Just like this?

A simple way to create an update.zip is with e.g.: Titanium BackUp. It has an option for it. Just pick all apps you want and it creates a flashable zip file.

edit: I just realized I gave you "false info", TB only creates update.zip, which only contains Titanium BackUp app... sooory...

On a related question, is there a way to uninstall a zip (notificationfix) I flashed?

Yes, manually delete the files that the update.zip installed, of course you would then have to replace the originals if it replaced any. Best thing is to create a backup before installing.

Or just install any backup app from market like (my backup) and backup your apps. then just restore backup you made when flash new rom.

So basically I have to reinstall the ROM because I had no backup :crying:
Well thanks anyway!

There is an app in Play Store named "App2Zip". Try it!

Okay so after i flash a new rom, and make a backup. Am i able to delete the zip file? Say ive been using jugs rom. After each update i create an backup in rom manager just in case. Then i delete the old jugs zips. Am i able to just restore an older rom from manager without the actual zip file saved? If anyone knows what i am trying to say.

It's better to keep the .zip file handy in case you gotta do a full flash

I might be wrong but I think you can't backup odexed system apps with TB. It just never restores. o-o
Wait uploading.

You Are Correct Silvane, Only way to reinstall app is to push it via adb, or flash it, or include it in the zip file of the custom rom you will be using
Pushing them to system with root explorer apps work though.

These are all deodexed stock apk's. I wasn't sure which apk's you needed so I just dumped them all in. No stock email apk btw. Just gmail.

flash it? did you mean with cwm? or odin? (i heven't any experience with odin )
include that? how???
No you don't flash it. It's just a bunch of apk's in a zip file. Copy/paste the apk's you need to system/app then change permissions to rw-r--r-- then reboot.

[Q] HOW TO....

There are 2 points I need some help at.
1. Is there a possibility to remove (automatically) some apps after each ROM install? Even with a striped ROM, there are some apps that I don't need or I want replaced.
2. How can I make a pack of my personal apps that should be automatically installed (silent install, no confirmation for each app)?

I dont think there is.. if you really wanna do that you gotta run some sort of script through terminal or something..

1: u can manually delete them with root explorer
2: either with titanium backup or make a zip and flash through recovery
You could also open the update.zip in WinZip remove the things you don't want and drag the files or .apk into it.

If I put the .apk for titanium backup in system apps folder will the app be available in the app drawer if I do a full wipe and flash another rom? Will it be installed already?

Thanks! Where does this update.zip file get stored? Do I choose apply update in clockwork mod or install?
Sent from my HTC One X
Been a while since I've done it, but I think it creates update.zip on root of SD. Flashable from CWM (recommend booting the ROM between ROM flash and update.zip flash).

Titanium Backup question

I have the full paid version of TB. If I create the zip file to install TB in recovery mode, does that install the full paid version or will it just install the free version?
I believe that just installs the free version but if you have a backup of your pro key just restore that & then restart TB.
As long as you don't wipe the "External" memory you will be fine. That is where your registration sits, therefor just wiping System/Data/Cache and installing a new ROM with TB you will be running TB in it's paid version.
Just FYI. After installing the zip on a new rom, I had the full paid version and not the free one.
