I have ported the famous theme, Minimal Matte onto our galaxy s.
it is orignally designed for the android 2.2 froyo and have ported it to android 2.1 (near abouts). It isnt exactly the minimal matte but is most like . screens are below.
Orignal Concept by: shiftedx
BUT made by : webstar1
Includes:
*Full Framework
*Launcher Pro (Themed)
*Geniewidget
*Skinned Swype QWERTY Keypad
* and more!
If you like it, please support me by donating below, ill be doing more ports and maybe even a custom rom .
Tested on a European JH1 Firmware with root
Download
Donate
EDIT: Ok so people are having problems flashing this:
The way i did it:
Downloaded Minimal Matte by webstar 1 directly to my phone
booted clockworkmod recovery and chose install zip not apply update.zip
then navigated to download/minimal matte
once its installed rebooted and voila, its worked.
im using a JH1 with root access.
make a nandroid backup before applying.
ive flashed this 5 times now and have had no problems
Just in case, THIS IS FOR ANDROID 2.1 not 2.2
EDIT: I forgot you also need a deodexed rom, here are some to flash:
Doc's RomMod
MoDaCo Custom Rom

Yup, ur free to post themed free apps (unless the developer has issues with it). But paid is always a No.
Btw:
INSTALL PROCEDURE:
just flash it with clockwork mod recovery or rename to update.zip and flash in backup mode (vol up+home+power when phone is turned off)

Black screen when rebooting. Forced to reflash in JM1new through ODIN.
What I do:
Downloaded Minimal-Matte-By_Webstar1.zip
Renamed it update.zip
Placed at the root of the SD
Launched clockwork mod from Rom manager
Apply update.zip
Reboot
Black screen! -> Reflash in JM1new + backup
What I do was the right approach? This is the first time I try to install a theme.

I know what might of happened, I have removed the bootscreen of samsung galaxy s where the S is made by tiny dots fusing. Basically if you flash this, I think it might wipe the boot screen as well so after flashing this, let the phone work for 10 minuets and the phone should definatley launch. You can get the bootscreen back by installing ryanz one click lag fix and the app had an option to restore bootscreen. Do that then uninstall app.
Try again but give phone time to work

Hi, sorry for my english i'm french
I waited for at least 30 minutes during the black screen but nothing happened. The black screen occurs after the animated galaxy S logo. The menu and return keys are lit during the black screen if I press them.
Has this worked for anyone at all

So was this theory proven correct?
I tried three times but it never worked (black screen). The last time I tried with a fresh installation: install the JM1new, root, installed rom manager, flashed clockwork mod, installed thre theme. Result still the same...
Use theme porter and see if it works
I think u must have a deodexed rom

it worked for me with clockwork recovery
here are the steps i did
1. download I9000TGYJH1
2. download root/busybox @samdroid
3. flash I9000TGYJH1 with repartition
4. apply root
5. install clockwork recovery
6. download this rom
7.flash it with clockwork recovery
so you dont need a deoxed rom...
my guess is that it needs a jh1 rom

Hey guys found this while looking through the Desire Z side. I'm running Virtuous 0.7.1 on my G2 and installed most all of them and they all work. Just thought I would post them here in case people haven't found this already. See post #10 just below for some trial and errors on my part that may benefit you.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=801928 See this link for Themes and also see post #6 for some custom notification bars.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9526289&postcount=249 See this link for an even more customized notification bar with great battery icon. These files must be flashed via clockworkmod.
Requirements
1-Have a T-Mobile G2
2-Your G2 is perm rooted and S-OFF. SEE http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833965
3-You have clockworkmod recovery flashed. SEE http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=834731
4-You have a custom SENSE based Rom flashed on your G2, be it Virtuous, eVil D's Desire HD, MoDaCo,VillianRom. I do NOT think that this will work with eVil's My Touch 4g rom because I believe it uses different framework. SEE Virtuous: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=837042, eVils http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835687, MoDaCo:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=837389, VillianRom:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=855560
STEPS-4 icon sets
1-Download eitheryour desired iconset/notification bar and place on your sdcard where you will easily be able to lacate later.
2-Boot into clockwork recovery(with phone off press in trackpad and then power and hold both, press power buttom to select bootloader, then vol down to select recovery
3-Once in clockworkmod recovery go down to backup and restore and push in trackpad and select bakup.CYA
4-Press power button to get back to first clockwork screen and move down to "Install zip from sdcard"
5-The move down to "Choose zip from sdcard" and then find your downloaded Theme/Icon set. Once highlighted press in track pad.
6-Move down to"Yes-install(yourfilegoeshere)
7-Once done installing press power button to get back to main screen and select reboot phone.
8-ENJOY!
STEPS-4 sopL87 Themes
1-Donload desire theme/skin from links above.
2- Have Astro File Manager installed from the Market Place. It's free and a handy app anyways.
3- Navigate to your downloaded theme and select it and a box/menu will appear and you will want to selecte open app manager.
4- Select install app- You may be asked to change a settings for installing from unknown sources. But you'll be fine cause you did a NANDROID backup right!
5- Once installed go to you HTC Sense Skin Picker and apply your newly installed theme
6- Enjoy!
Also I take no credit for any of this work, just wanted to post it in a new area for more eyes to see and use some of this great work.
Thanks to sopL87,vibez icematrix for making these and all their work. Also THANKS to rmk40, eVil D, Paulobrien and nprussell for their amazing Roms and kernels. YOU ALL ROCK!
Hey, I'm new to Droids and noticed my friend has this clock with weather (I think its like Beautiful widgets) on their evo and I was trying to find something similar for my new phone. Is this what you're talking about in this post? Does it require 'rooting' or 'hacking'? Thanks man!
Lol I am in the same boat as you g2man. I'm new to android also and after playing with my friends evo I fell in love with the weather clock and the bookmark widget. I found the clock under beautiful widgets on the market but I am still looking for the bookmarks. I also don't know what's up with hacking or rooting lol.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
if you want those cool widgets then you need to load a sense rom. There are similar ones out there just look in the post your home screen thread and stay looking at other people screens to see what they have and what you like. If you do decide to go with a sense rom then yes you need to be permanently rooted.

I installed them all through Astro File Manager and then you can toggle between all of them through the skin selector. Also to answer from the second post yea you will needto root and install a customsense Rom if you are on the T-Mobile G2 which I would guess you are. These will just change certain aspects of the HTC sense operating system.

If you look in post number 6 on the link I supplied there are some frameworks there and the RougeSense one has a circle battery indicator with number in middle. Those files are also .apk format and could also be installed via Astro if I'm not mistaken but I have yet to try that so don't quote me on that. Also there is this link that have and very nice mod for the notifacation bar that has great icons and even better battery icon.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9526289&postcount=249 The files from this link MUST be installed via clockwork recovery.
I would say if your going to try these before I do I would do a nandroid back up before just incase something goes wrong. CYA(Cover Your A$$) if you know what I mean. I'm going to try them right now and I'll post and let you know how it goes.
Well I flashed the v3 with animated menu onto my G2 with Virtuous 0.7.1 and all is well. It is currently charging and battery circle is rotating as suppose to. All icons seem to be working just fine. Have to side affects that I can see yet. Posted a screenie for you all to see. Also just want to say this again, MUST flash the icematrix frameworks via clockwork and I highly recommencd doing a backup. If no problems are found the just delete the backup and no harm done. CYA!
EDIT: Find small glitch with v3 w/ animated menu. When screen is unlocked you will get a very quick flash of the home screen preview except upside down. Then just goes to the main screen. So far this only seems to happen if the phone was locked when on the main home screen. Going to try v3 with out animated menu.
EDIT2: Currently running v3 w/out animated menu and seems to be unlock glitch free. But with the animated menu option menus that would normally pop up while using your phone have a effect where it looks like they come out of the side of the screen. But I just really wanted the custom icons.
EDIT3: Well after running v3 for awhile still not having any problems but have noticed a change though. If you look at my first screen shot you'll notice that my contact app is named "Contacts". Well after two reboots my contact app is now named "People"(see screen shot two below). Not that this is a big deal just thought would let you all know.

If you are wanting to flash the icematrix icons then you MUST do it through clockwork recovery. So yes your phone must be perm rooted and you must have a custom Rom installed such as virtuous or eVils desire hd roms. These will only work on sense and NOT stock or cyanogen.

Look under G2 Android development and one of the top posts is a guide on how to perm root and s-off. Then you can install ROM Manager which can flash clockwork to your phone from within the app itself. There is also a post in Android dev about clockworkmod recovery.

No there is no need to rename any of these files. The custom icons from icematrix are installed through clockwork recovery and from clockwork choose "install zip from sdcard",the select "choose zip from sdcard" than just navigate to where you placed the file on your sdcard and will flash it. There is no need to wipe anything when flashing one of icematrix frameworks. The other files from sopL87 are all .apk files and those all install from an app like Astro File manager which can be downloaded from the market for free. Great app to have even if not using it form this reason.
Tried installing the other icons from sopl through astro and it said launch or uninstall. When I hit launch it said it could not. To afraid to hit install unless you have done this already and it works.

Wondering if someone can help me. I'm looking to change my battery icons. Having a hard time finding them. Can I get a path and what I should do to change them? Can I just swap them out in a file explorer?
Thanks for any help.
What i am really looking to do is get calks battery percent in the unnamed rom. if anyone can help.
thanks

Ok i was able to extract the images from calks rom using apk manager but really dont know what to do from here well enough to try it. what would i need to do next to get the images in the unnamed file?
thanks
idk i extracted both and i cant seem to tell the difference however when i am using the roms i thought there was. who knows...
bump... I'd also like to know how to change my battery indicator. I want to have a numeric percentage up there. i don't want to install an app that adds a separate indicator either. My phone is rooted, and I'm hoping I can do it without installing a custom rom.
Gentlemen, all you have to do is download ROM Toolbox. Once installed, go to interface, then icon changer, there you can choose from a large variety of icons to replace the battery icon.

Awesome, thanks. I checked it out, and it gives a warning that not all the battery icons will work with all phones, due to different increments. Anyone know if the ones with 1% increments will work with the Epic 4G Touch?
It also says that I should do a nandroid backup first, so I'm gonna figure that out before I try out the icon change. The first "how to" that I read for doing a nandroid backup says that I need to install ClockworkMod Recovery, and to do that, "In ROM Manager, tap ‘Flash ClockworkMod Recovery’". I can't find any mention of ClockworkMod Recovery in ROM Manager. I'll look for an alternate way to install CM Recovery, but I thought I'd mention it in case I'm missing something in ROM Manager.

Hi all, I'm currently having issues with almost any AOKP ROM I am downloading. So far I've run PAC MAN, SOKP, and Google Play Edition ROMS and have run into the same issues across them all, so I am starting to think it was the way I've rooted my phone or a setting that I have made. My camera app keeps closing with "Unfortunately, Camera has stopped". Other apps randomly FC as well. Apps like Snapchat work, but not while using the front camera. I downloaded Google Camera and that app still FCs before I can use it, just like the stock cameras.
I am using a Samsung Galaxy S4 for T-Mobile. I rooted using ODIN, using CWM via Rom Manager app. My KNOX settings are 0x1. Does anybody know how to fix this? I did full wipes between each ROM, and this has been happening ever since I installed a custom ROM. Maybe some settings in CWM?
I have tried looking up the issue myself, but I have not yet found a solution to the issue. Also, I am a noob still, therefore please forgive me if this is a redundant question or if I ask you for further explanation. Thank you, please help me

I tried rebooting into recovery via Rom Manager, it doesn't even do anything once I click reboot. And so I ran fix permissions from Rom Manager and rebooted, still nothing. Would anybody happen to know the default mounts? Maybe it has something to do with those? Again, I'm a noob so I have no idea. I try to boot into recovery by holding down volume up + power + home key, and nothing happens. I've also tried booting holding down just volume up + power, still nothing. Maybe I have to do a complete re-root/reset of my phone? I downloaded a TW based ROM as opposed to AOKP, but I can't even get into recovery at this point. Is it a SU issue? Please help
