[Q] HTC Desire Display problem (Kernel suggestions??) - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hy everyone
I've currently switched my old CM7 rom for a MIUI GB Rom, and I must say I'm really impressed
They say when you try MIUI you don't wont any other rom, and I have to say they are right
So let's get to the point, lately I've found out that my HTC Desire is behaving strange. My display is starting to go on and off on itself, I haven't installed anything to mess with the interface or the lockscreen itself, I'm still using the default theme.
So I thought maybe my Desire is gone crazy and I've tried the latest CM7.2 rom, and my "display" problem solved itself, I've used it for a week just to be on the safe side - so my question is:
How can I fix this ????? I really like this MIUI rom more then the usual Gingerbread/Cm7 roms.
I even managed to install the latest AMARULLZ DATA TO SD-EXT(A2SDX)
script so that I can use the 1GB ext4 partion as my internal memory space.
Please let me know what I have to do to fix this. Do I have to install an other kernel to fix this, or do I have to use an another boot image, or something else ??? Or at least let me know which is the best kernel for every day use ( for MIUI of course )
Thanks in advance
PS: Here is my current rom and kernel info:
Boot:
Stock HBoot
Baseband version:
32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.23
Kernel version:

I am lost, seriously!

Howdy!
I am currently pulling my hair out because I tried so many roms and I lost control over my HTC Desire. I am guessing I am currently on Android 2.1. I want to use a ROM that has no HTC Sense and is rooted. But all those roms are coming with so much annoying extra's I just don't want. And some of those roms tells me that some things are working and some not, that olso scares me.
When I click 'About my phone' I see the following information:
Firmware version: 2.1-update1
Smallband version: 32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2
Kernel: 2.6.29-0cb9f166 (htc-kernel - and18-2 #1)
Build number: 1.21.405.2 CL174215 release-keys
I hope somebody can point me in the direction I want because I am fairly new to the android phones,
Thanks!
i had kinda the same problem as you.tryed many different roms and now i'm happy with opendesire + launcher pro instead of adw launcher.
I think LeeDrOiD Mod might be good for you. Froyo with sense and not much extras. Just need to format and make ext partition to your sd card and you are good to go.
Edit: SPEED READ IS BAD... sorry. I thought u was looking for sense rom. .. lol
Edit 2: LeeDrOiD is still good point to start. I dont run sense either but adw, but i still like to use htc calendar etc.

Thanks guys. I decided to use the HTC default rom and rooted. I'll try from here out to tweak and remove some stock applications.

[Q] Camera resolution/ color depth problem - COREDROID

Hi @all,
i tried to find a solution for my problem, but i still couldn't find one.
My Desire HD:
ROM: CoreDroid HD GB 2.3.3 V5.0 & FROYO V3.3
Android Version: 2.3.3
Sense Version: 2.1
Baseband: 12.28e.60.140fP_26.04.04.17_M2
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.10-g1418c33
Software Number: CoreDroid Desire HD V5.0
My Problem:
I flashed my original ROM with the CoreDroid HD GB 2.3.3 V5.0. Everything works fine, except the camera. If I try to make a picture, it seems, that the color depth is like 8bit. -> See attached picture.
Flashing another ROM like RCMixHD_v5.6_ORG -> same problem.
Is there still existing a thread for this Problem or does some knows what i can do?
Greetz Andy
That looks awesome
A question: Does the live view of the camera show the same picture? Or is it correct and only changes when saving?
Anyway I would recommend a full wipe & reflash of the ROM. If that doesn't fix the problem, there might be a serious problem.
The picture looks also on live view so bad.
I tried different ROMs and for wipe datas i allways used the Full_wipe_1.3.zip
I don't think that it's a hardware problem, because with the original ROM it allwaxs worked fine before i flashed.
I did following things:
- had original ROM
- downgraded from Baseband 1.75.x to 1.32.x (followed Forum Thread HOWTO...)
- Radio S-OFF and ENG S-OFF
- Flashed new ROM CoreDroid
- Radio Update to 12.28e.60.140fP_26.04.04.17_M2
I hope this helps....
Thanks
Did you already try other ROMs? It might fix the problem, if you do a full wipe and flash a different ROM, if it is ROM specific.
Have you already tried to go back to stock ROM and checked whether the problem persists?
Yeah, i tried the RCMix ROM and the Revolution HD ROM.
I didn't try stock rom yet. Didn't still found the thread with stock ROMs, so, don't know where to download from.
Does someone knows the title of the stock ROMs Thread?
Its definetely a ROM issue . So my suggestion to you is :
- Either the issue come from not properly functioning ROM or not properly functioning KERNEL . By re-flashing them , I guess you would managed to fix the problem .
- If you have made a BACKUP before flashing your new ROM , you should just restore your previous ROM and maybe the issue would disappear .
Ok, so i'll make a Kernel Update and try another ROM or Stock ROM (tomorrow) and then post you my results.
I hope that works
I die a kernel update, Radio Update, flashed stock rom 1.32 but this didn't fix the Problem.
Any other ideas that can be a solution für my Problem?
Hi,
I have the exact same problem with my DHD. Was a solution ever found?
For me, 'till today, sadly not
I think the camera sensor is busted. If you already flash lots of different roms and still not fixing it, best probable guess would be the hardware itself.

[Q] Stock Kernel for HD on Vodafone

Hello. I flashed my HD with Leedroid HD V3, and also used LeeDrOiD GB V3.0.3 - 2.6.35.13 kernel. This was a big improvement on the stock ROM.
I now have a warranty issue with the active buttons and I need to send it to Voda AUS / HTC. I have a backup of my original ROM, which I have flashed back to and all works fine, but my kernel version now shows as unavailable.
Do I have to flash the kernel back to a stock one to avoid warranty issues? Do they look at this?
Trying to avoid them saying it's my fault the buttons stopped working, well just the lights.
Thanks for your help.
Dont know how to get the original kernel back, but I had Leedroid kernel, then when i flashed the new RCMix rom(Kingdom v0.1), the kernel no longer said Leedroid, it reverted to something that resembled stock (obviously it wont be the Vodafone stock, but it might look 'stock enough').
So you could try doing full wipe & flashing that rom & then restoring your original rom & hope the kernel is changed.
there is probably an easier way
thanks for that.
How did you find the RCMix ROM?
I can't even remember what the original kernel said!
Any ideas?
No idea what the original kernel was, probably should have written it down somewhere!
The new RCMix was really good, but had a lot of bugs though. The next version should be awesome with all the bugs ironed out. It's the only one that's got full 3.0 sense, rather than just bits and pieces.
The live weather lockscreen was pretty cool!

is that what you wanted?
Yes that looks like the original kernel details,.
I tried flashing kingdom and then my original voda rom and the kernel stayed as per the stock kernel supplied by kingdom.
Thanks for all you help.

Overcome v4.0

Hey all, mega n00b here
My story; I was running Froyo on my P1000 until last week, Kies told me there was an upgrade available to 2.3.3 GB which I undertook.
I took exception to the navigation button lights always on. I looked and searched all over for fixes and tried in vain to root my tab. I even installed a new Kernel that was supposed to be rooted - it installed but no root!? PLUS my WIFI was now f***ed and either would not connect or continuously dropped.
Anyway, the installed kernel had CWM Recovery in it.
I found another post that led me to the Overcome ROM & Kernel.
I installed the Kernel first and was shi**ing bricks when all that happened was the word "andriod" flashing on the screen!
After friggin about with CWM I found I could load the ROM from the external SD which I duly did and Voila a working Tab, and boy is it slick.
Now, I have two questions - any and all help greatly recieved:
1.) What is up with the website for the install guide and other files?
2.) What do I need to do to install a modem and which one is most suitable for my tab I am in UK on Vodafone.
Device Details:
Model Number: GT-P1000
F/W version: 2.3.3
Baseband version: P1000XXJPZ
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7 Overcome-v4.0.0 #40
Build number: Overcome 7 Series v4.0.0
IDK and no
OK
So, no modem needed? ...I've not tested the 3G data on the Tab yet.
I found the issue with the w/s...

...from the horses mouth so to speak.
EDIT: Tested 3G and all is perfect!
