Latest cm7 nightlies seem to have a regression that affects notification bar... it crashes just after boot
With cm-7-20120916-NIGHTLY-buzz.zip all work as expected. Does anyone have noticed the same issue?

Wrong forum use the Q&A-forum, could sb. move that pls.
Why don't u use a stable release i'll promise u that you won't notice any difference. That's a typical issiue for nightlies so just flash a stable release and wait for the next release of a nightly, may this will be working
i have the same thing , and i reported this bug , but they classify it as invalid , don't know why , may b because it is a nightly not stable

right, wrong forum. Even worse: this issue now is spread over 3 threads if I'm not mistaken. Really hard to follow up. Else you'd have noticed that this nightly has some interesting new features (regarding the question why not using a stable).
Swyped from my HTC Wildfire (Buzz)
Yep. Didn't attach a log, which is the reason why it's invalid.

Few n00b questions.
Firstly, how do i flash a nightly on my phone? lets say im running ofw 2.2 SEA edition? Do i follow the same procedure as if to flash RC1... do i also need to flash gapps similarly.
Secondly, are the links on quarxs' CM7 for defy thread up-to-date? or are there newer versions of gapps and nightlies floating around somewhere
Third, i have noticed that there is an issue with network and wi-fi when i flash cm7 RC1 over the nordic sbf. when i go back to official 2.2 SEA there is no hassle at all. Since i live in india i was wondering if that was the issue. I can easily take care of the network problem using "baseband switcher for defy" but it still doesnt help the wi-fi problem.
My question is.. will using the new BOOTSEA nightly solve this problem. I am assuming from the name is boot"SEA" im assuming its built southeastasia specific.
Fourth, ive used CM7 RC1 for a while and apart from the wifi issue i got problems with camera and video... it absolutely doesnt work, wether it be in potrait or landscape or whatever setting... the app just force closes. Any fixes for that.. ive got green lens.
please help!!! and i hope other similar questions can be added by members here so as to make this thread an FAQ for distressed users like me.
Thanks

--> I'd say install RC1 and gapps first, then try a nightly by just wiping cache and Dalvik - no need to install gapps again since they're on your phone now. If you install a BOOT version and want to go back to an earlier CM7 nightly, then you might want to start from scratch, reflash froyo and install RC1 + gapps again.
Secondly, are the links on quarxs' CM7 for defy thread up-to-date? or are there newer versions of gapps and nightlies floating around somewhere
--> mostly up to date, but I don't worry about gapps too much as I believe that the Market gets updated automatically anyway (but I might be wrong about that). On the OP, the link to the gapps should show you up to date versions; but read the comments on there - very important.

---> same here my wifi DL speed was really bad for the last month or so on CM7; only after BOOT179-4 install, my wifi speed somewhat got back to normal.
Fourth, ive used CM7 RC1 for a while and apart from the wifi issue i got problems with camera and video... it absolutely doesnt work, wether it be in potrait or landscape or whatever setting... the app just force closes. Any fixes for that.. ive got green lens.
---> My camera and video worked on RC1 (and earlier) but video recording had some chopiness at times. Around July 11th nightly, Quarx released a camera fix (in that nightly) that solved the problem for me. But then days later, on newer nightly builds, I got the FC problem on video camera (same as you but red lens here). Then with BOOT179-4, camera was fine again and so the wifi speed; so all good for me.
--------> I really don't know what's going on with the video camera: many poeple have problems and many have it working on every nightly builds. It has been a problem from day one for Quarx on CM7-jordan... You have to try and see which build works for you I guess. And like you said, BOOT-SEA definitely looks like something you should try - many people liked it and many people say yesterday nightly is the best for them so far... so go on and have fun with testing
---> Before you do more testing though, you can always do a backup from the custom recovery so it will be easy for you to restore your current phone state -if nothing improves. I do this all the time: stock recovery factory reset, nordic flashing, RC1 install then restore my (BOOT179-4 now) backup.
Please help!!! and i hope other similar questions can be added by members here so as to make this thread an FAQ for distressed users like me.
---> I did try to help - I hope I did! If so, you can use that "Thanks" button - hehe!
---> Not sure that a thread entitled "nightly doubts" will become a very popular
FAQ thread though

i went thru the whole FAQ but my doubts are regarding the nightlies which it doesnt address hence the thread.
thx for the concern though.
downloaded the BOOTSEA, but there is another file "cm7-110726-0018-BOOTSEA-Jordan.zip.md5sum" mentioned below it. ( there are similar md5sum files for all nightlies...) are they essential ? and how do i use them.
wanted to clarify before proceeding.

Md5 files are to verify your download is not corrupted one. Which you can compare the md5 after downloading the zip file and regenerating the md5 of downloaded file and check against the one in the server.

No problem.
Go read here on the official CM7-jordan thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033654&page=943
And from post 9429 particularily; pretty much goes in the same direction I was pointing at regarding the wifi and video camera...
How's the BOOTSEA doing for you?
The nightly ones is just the output that the ones who are working on the rom ups to us. Normally have all that part on topic that say "next version:..."
If you wanna try the nightly one, use as the *.zip that you download when got the "rc1 v2" for exemple. So wipe the phone, choose install from a zip of the sdcard and choose the *.zip, been it the rc1 or the nightly build.
The md5sum file is the one that contains the 5sum from the file. Its nornaly given when you have to download a big file and have fear to corrupt the file. If you use linux, go on terminal and type "5sum file" when file is the name of any file that you have. It will give you a big number. This is the 5sum. The *.md5sum have the 5sum of the respective *.zip nightly rom.

You need to update to a current rom to get any support.

Alright, I'm new to CM10, do you have to update the rom to the latest nightly build every day until a stable on is available?

Well, if you want support you should. If you don't expect support you can use the most stable one you can find. I suggest updating, although stable will be available today probably. I think it is being compiled right now.
in People, there's an entry for you at the top. there, you should be able to change your own contact details.
also: he isn't reporting a bug or anything that could be a problem related to an old, unsupported version of a rom. come on guys. he just didn't know how to do something. :|

It isn't guys, it's me. My point was, if it was a bug he needs to be updated. He might have also learned something as he is now on a newer build and knows that he needs to keep up to date. It seems as if it worked after he updated too, so I am pretty sure he did need to update.

BTDT. But, I can't ask there (new account), the beginning of the thread is outdated, the end is about other problems. I want to know, what are the exact problems. I don't wanna disturb the developer with PM, but can't ask in thread.
I have used a lot of ROM-s before, on my V, and on my Huawei pulse, I have experience with these things. I just don't wanna make 10 dummy post, just for the permission.
I have a primou, and as I see, the developer needs testers for this variant. But if I can't use it daily, I won't test, cause don't have any other phone.
That's why I need exact answers.

My only guess is the maintainer is on vacation or had an emergency of some sort.
The latest build is pretty decent IMO. We will just have to wait and see when an update comes. It will come most likely. They could be trying to iron out major bugs they overlooked or something. We just have to wait and see what happens.

Actually, I always try to build it locally and it's is broken. It says 'touchpanel_sysfs is undefined'.
I realize that it's in these 3 files, which gets generated during compilation (I guess)
cm12.1/out/target/product/e980/obj/ETC/sepolicy_intermediates/policy.conf
cm12.1/out/target/product/e980/obj/ETC/sepolicy_intermediates/policy.conf.dontaudit
cm12.1/out/target/product/e980/obj/ETC/sepolicy.recovery_intermediates/policy_recovery.conf
After defining the variable, the compilation went smooth and I got the build. BUT my phone would not boot with it. I had to roll back to the previous working build.
So, I'm guessing it's nothing to do with any major change or update.
Anyways, if anyone could build the latest code and get it working on their phone, I'm very much interested in knowing how
Im thinking it may be the firmware cuz installing cm13 broke my GPS. lock utility apps aren't seeing a single satellite I'm wondering what the best way to fix this would be
Wait for CM13 to be stable.
Builds are now experimental and a lot of features have to be polished before it can be a stable release.

firstly, why do you bother posting... nothing you said makes sense.
They fix basic functionality in nightly builds they don't save the fix for a stable release the reason they release nighties are so people can find issues and resolve them by submitting bugs and logs to cm team and/or discuss issues on forums to brainstorm solutions... i literally was only asking if someone else had already found a fix for it, sometimes there are simple fixes you can do in seconds like alot of video glitches in nightly builds can be fixed by changing video settings in dev options.
second, cm 12.1 doesn't even have a stable release yet so ur asking me to wait several months , if everyone had that ****ty attitude nothing would ever get fixed.
thirdly, i didn't say i was surprised something isn't working when the first nightly was released on the 25th there is obviously going to be issues but the people who are running it already are the ones trying to advance the releases to stable by using the report to CM team feature on the phone from the earliest nightlies to provide them with information to do the polishing you speak of, so why say something like that? it just doesn't make sense. If there are no fixes available (which is why i posted to see if anyone has one) then maybe i'll spend some of my time troubleshooting it... not that i'm a pro engineer or anything but i've found fixes to issues before, plz don't tell me to wait for stable, again if everyone had that attitude there would never be a stable release.
I'm having the same issue on my d852 with the latest CM13. In the d855 cm13 thread someone posted a flashable zip that fixes the problem for them. All it contains is a modified gps.conf so it's safe to flash on our d852. It didn't work for me but it may for you.
