Where can I download all the ringtone/notification sounds from cyanogenmod, aokp, etc?

You'll be needing root explorer for this.
Go to system/media and there will be some folders like notifications, ringtones.

The poster is asking where to get the sound files, presumably off the net.

I noticed it now. It would be better if he could extract the sound files from aokp and cm10 roms. Or someone could just upload it here.

You can download a CyanogenMod ROM and unzip it. The files are in \system\media\audio\.
For your convenience: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/17898103/CM10 audio files.zip
THank you guys I will just download the roms and take them from system\media\audio\.

First of all, thanks to Rockstar52 for scaling these files for the Galaxy Nexus.
This is just a variant where the text "GALAXY NEXUS" stays on the screen until boot.
The animation is the first 10 seconds of this clip, then the text "GALAXY NEXUS" is displayed until the phone finishes booting.
Tested and working good on my GNex with AOKP.
Please let me know which ROM you are using and whether it works or not.
Disclaimers: I claim no credit for the video used, and I am not responsible for anything you do to your device.

v.2 uses additional frames from the video. with latest AOKP and franco kernel, works flawless.
do inform me if you get lags and which ROM you are using.
How to install:
Rename downloaded file to "bootanimation.zip", if it isn't named as such
You should have root access.
Push/copy file to data/local

Sweeeeeet........
I just rebootet 5 times to see the animation again and again!
The best I have ever seen.
Send from my pimped Galaxy Nexus running on ICS
Pushed to data/local rebooted and nothing changed.
system/media fix permission rw-r-r
Very coooooool! I wish if the first animation was longer than 10 seconds. It's gonna be much nicer if it stops at exactly second 15 of the youtube clip attached. if someone can make it, please.
Thanks for the great bootanimation.
Doesn't work on rooted 4.04 :-(
Please help!
Thanks

I'm a flasher via cwm user so bit of a novice when it comes to copying/moving internal files.
can't find local in data folder any help please?
I copied file via file expert sd card/data no local file.
also looked under phone internal storage data no local file
please help.
I'm on aokp rom build 22 4.0.3
don't worry got it working tried different file explorer "root browser".
if you can't find data/local, try creating local folder within data.
or as romgorz suggested, try putting it into system/media

will try to see if I can find a good tutorial on how to make flashable zips.
for now, you just have to copy it to data/local or system/media.
doesn't change your bootanimation by the way if you upgrade from the same ROM

;I think so, ROMs like Remics that contain samsung framework; might only need a bit of tweaking & xml file
Sorry for this request, I need the stock music and sound player apk and odex files from XWJW8. I have deleted them from my system, and didn't do a backup... I did a lot of modifications to the rom, it took a long time, so I don't want to flash it again. Someone please upload them

i saw that the update rolled out, so wondering if anyone can get the launcher apk from their system files? thanks

it should be easy, but first we need root.and we can't extract files from .dz file.
Here http://depositfiles.com/files/0gkbxwjsa
But i think it will not work without LG framework

Nah its ok. Im pretty new to linux either
You can read /System/ partition, but cant change it. Therefore you can copy files it contains, but cant install root.
Exploit/injection is needed.

Hi Guys,
Losing my patient on laggy Samsung Dialer and Contacts, so I decided to replace it with AOSP dialer and contacts. It didn't work out 100%, but it works to some extend
Contacts - so far all working as it should.
Dialer - in call screen doesn't work. It will use Samsung in call screen instead. Well, is good too because I can use call recording feature
Missed called - show in lockscreen but only open to contacts instead of the one who had called.
If you wish to install AOSP Dialer & Contacts, here's how:
1) Samsung mms.apk won't work with AOSP contacts. So you will need to replace the SecMms.apk with AOSP mms.apk. You can do that from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36617379
2) Next, download the zip file below. Then navigate to system/app. Find SecContacts.apk and rename it to SecContacts.apk.bak (do not delete)
3) Reboot into recovery and flash the zip file you just downloaded. All contacts will be cleared. So make sure you have backup.
4) Reboot your phone. Navigate to system/app. Find ContactsProvider.apk (not SecContactsProvider.apk) and rename it (do not delete) to ContactsProvider.apk.bak
That's it. If you found any bug, please let me know. Or if you have other method to get AOSP/CM10 Dialer and Contacts to work with Samsung based rom, please share.
Thanks.
Do this at your own risk.

Sadly I wasn't able to get this working..
Also the step where we rename contactsprovider after a initial reboot.. maybe theres some way we can merge contactsprovider similar to the mms method.
Would love to see this working tho !

No errors in particular.. dialer didnt show up in launcher.. Iv added this as a aroma option in my rom, so I havnt followed your instructions exactly right..
Hence why im wondering if we can do a similar method to mms.
EDIT: This has to be possible look at chameleon rom on the SII, his managed to get a whole bunch of AOKP & CM stuff working on stock..

Yeah, hopefully some great developers can help to merge the apks into Samsung framework. In the meantime, this is a workaround.

or you can use Ex Dialer with the ICS theme. No lag, and it's somewhat better than AOSP/CM dialers. It has lots of options to chose from, it's free and has an option to be kept in memory

Contact.apk required the file to be present. Deleting it caused FC. Since we already have SecContactsProvider.apk running, there is no point leaving ContactsProvider.apk running too. Is fine though if you do not want to rename it.

Hi,
While searching for ways to install Google Car Home on my Galaxy Nexus (Verizon), I see lots of posts where people make the Car Home apks available for others to download.
Where do these apks come from? What I'd really like to know, how can I get this kind of apk without having to trust someone else who posted it? How can I get something like that from the source?
Does Google post these files on their site? Or maybe the source code?
There is a guide on a roundabout way to getting Google Wallet installed: http://www.droid-life.com/2012/02/0...m-the-market-on-the-verizon-lte-galaxy-nexus/
I tried to do the same thing for Car Home, but it didn't work.

Also, are there any pointers on pulling an apk from a ROM?

Here are the apk's if you want. I have used them for over a year without any issues. Not sure where to look for pulling them from an image.
