I can see the prefix/suffix "d2" in front of some ROM and/or kernel names ... what does it stand for ?
Ex :
[ROM][4.1.1]Slim Bean-d2(att/bell/telus/rogers/t-mobile)
d2-tmo/att/vzw-ICS/JB[Linux 3.0.43]kernel for AOSP/AOKP/CM9/10 ROMs[Sep-24]
[CM10][Jellybro] d2ATT Nightly Kangs
It stands for what your phone is. If you have an AT&T I747, then you have a d2att.

Thanks for the answer ... however, my mind mind isn't fully satisfied yet.
It's an acronym for what exactly ?
Ditto. This has been buggin' the **** outta me haha. First and foremost, what does the 'd2' designation mean, but furthermore, why is it not d3?

Hey guys, I'd love to ask this in the kyanROM thread, but I don't have permissions yet.
My phone is telling me that I have a I747M even though I am on AT&T and in the US. I remember seeing it as an I747 when I got it. Did the kyanROM flash change the way my phone sees what model it is? If so, is there any way to change it back? If there is a way, I could check the hardware to see what I have. I am currently seeing it as an I747 in the about sections of settings.
If it wasn't kyanrom that changed it, what could have?
Thanks!

So do I treat it just like an I747 without the M? Like all the modems and kernel and all that other good stuff?
Is there any way at all to change it? I went to change it in the build.prop, but after changing, the phone wouldn't start. I used a nandroid backup, and everything was fine, but still showing I747M.
Thanks! I will thank the post tomorrow, I am limited to 8 a day, and have given that out today I just joined so am thankful for many more than 8 posts now lol.
Just use it as usual. It doesn't affect your radio so it won't mess your connection. If you are on att it may cause trouble for some att special useless thing but I cant be more specific since imbwith rogers

Sorry for the total noob question here, but how long do you think it will take for Cynogen 10 to be release for this phone? This is my first I have bought a phone at launch.
My best guess, month or two
http://www.cyanogenmod.org/blog/cyanogenmod-10-m2
Says galaxy note this month but I'm not sure if that includes the note 2

Looks like they are supporting the International version. http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/articles/4...android412-jellybean-samsung-galaxy-note2.htm

So by supporting the International version does that mean that US versions such as AT&T will not work with the same version of Cyanogen?

The only way CM will come to this device is if someone who knows how to setup a device tree does it. They don't just magically appear guys. I'm working on the tree for the t0lteatt at the moment, but its an on going process. I've built, modded, compiled, you name it, done it, however never setup a device tree from scratch.

On XDA they do, are you sure man? No but seriously I hope it isn't that difficult since all Note 2's are the same (mostly). Wish I know more about android.
Patiently waiting, for now
Hey guys, is there a TW Lean Kernel for our phones?
I checked here: http://imoseyon.host4droid.com/s3/
But anything that says TW is from 2012.
Man that was difficult. I had to type "lean kernel i747" into Google, click the first link, click another link then copy and past ANOTHER link just for you.

Yeah man I know that link. I use it currently. It's for AOSP.
Since AOSP isnt TW, I was hoping for the TW version. I was browsing around and somebody mentioned that you can get lean kernel for TW, that's why I'm asking because I can't find it.

It's a fine kernel, it's just im wondering if there is a current build for JB of LeanKernel. I've been using it for a very long time now, and now that I am switching back to TW would like to know.

I did also find that thread, but apparently according to ppl in there they say that it won't work for AT&T since its for VZW.
Oh well, looks like there isn't a current version for AT&T.

If We Download This And Flash It In The "Download Target" Screen or "Download Mode" (power + Volume Down + Home Button) Does This Mean I Can Upgrade To Google edition (Or Are we somewhat close to the port) ?:fingers-crossed:

I would not expect too much interest in a kernel that can't be used on this device for TMo service.

First off, you should not even joke about telling someone to flash something they shouldn't. EVER. Some people will take you seriously. Please don't do that...
Second... you and others should realize by now that our M919 can flash 95% of all software items made for the international i9505. M919 is simply the Tmo version of the 9505, as you should know....the hardware is identical. So many people still think they are different phones just because ours say M919. The only catch is you can never flash another carriers modem...it's that simple.
99% of the ROMs from the international i9505 forums and all other carriers...Verizon, AT&T, Sprint etc, run perfectly on our M919....ya just gotta flash a universal kernel directly after flashing the i9505 ROM....ie, Faux or Ktoonez etc. Aside from people who have to have certain Tmo specific software (WiFI calling, visual VM etc)...I have no idea why people are still using the old and outdated MDL firmware.
To the OP...wait for the ROM and kernel to be released in the international forums and then wait again for Faux or Ktoonez to make the kernel universally compatible with multiple variants of the i9505.
Seems there are still peeps out there that think they are stuck to using only Tmo M919 software. I'm surprised more Tmo users are not using the latest and greatest firmware for the i9505. Smearing, camera lag...you name it, was fixed long ago on the international firmware.
My M919 is FLYING with Wanam's 1.2 MF2 ROM, Faux v6m kernel.
@ Hoggles
Thanks for that informative post.
Regarding the WanamLite ROM you installed, is Call Recording operating properly?
Skvalex from CallRecorder asked me to try this
http://galaxys4root.com/t-mobile-ga...i9505attt-mobilecanadianapp2sdcall-recording/
to see if CallRecorder works. It's version 1.1 but I read it may break 4G LTE.
I see the ROM you installed is 1.2 and just wanted to know what your experience was with either the call recording feature native to that ROM, or if you've perhaps tried CallRecorder, and if 4G LTE is working without issue.
@ luckyduck69
The op was just trying to be helpful.
Everyone is learning, and not just on xda, but in life in general.
Hoggles just didn't want the op or anyone else to Bork their new, expensive S4 and was passionate about that.
As we all know, sometimes things are said that are taken literally, and considering their are millions of xda members, there may have been several that would have flashed something they're not supposed to, and have a brick in their hands.
The above is just my observation. Nothing personal

The googy-max kernel says its for cynogenmod 10.2, but do not use on the samsung galaxy s3. It hard bricked my phone. I'm not new to flashing roms and kernels, so this wasn't a mistake on my behalf.

Are you sure you didn't make a mistake? I don't doubt that you're a veteran flasher, but you definitely messed up this time. We only use d2 kernels here.
I only see it as available for the international model S3, which we already know not to flash. Lots of veterans have made the exact same mistake. Just reinforces that no matter how much you think you know, you still should always read the stickied threads. Doesn't matter how much experience you have, every device is different.

No, i read it was ok to use with the dtmo t-mobile version of the cynogenmod nightly, here on this site. I'll try to find the forum again and reference to it.
Please do. I've never heard of any kernel, Rom, mod, or anything from the international S3 that was ok to flash to any US model.

Even if you read it in one place, that is the kind of thing you confirm before flashing. There are lots of rumors and misinformation floating around.
I can tell you that ATT and T-Mobile kernels can be cross flashed but I wouldn't know about others.
