Hi,
I am about to flash my S3 i747M (Rogers), and I have stumbled upon couple of ROMs, and I cannot figure how to make the difference between these roms. So what is the difference between these 2 ROMs:
Jellybro: http://fitsnugly.euroskank.com/?rom=cm10&device=d2att
d2att: http://get.cm/?device=d2att
For what I understand, I can flash these 2 into my i747M using CWM... is it true? And also which one should I pick.
Thank you!

Those are two different roms.
Jellybro is a CM10 based rom with cherry picks.
CM10 is the official AOSP JB ROM from the Cyanogen team.
d2att is the name of your device. d2att = ATT Galaxy S3, d2vzw = Verizon Galaxy S3 etc...

Does the CM10 AOSP is viable for daily usage for a non-dev like me? Else, which ROM should I pick for casual utilization?
Cm10 is perfectly stable.

AOKP has become my new favorite custom ROM to flash. i have it on my Nexus 7, and when i used to own the ASUS TF101 and Galaxy Nexus, both had it as well.
i'm looking into flashing AOKP to my Galaxy S3 now, but i'm a little confused what's the difference between these:
[ROM] AOKP(Jellybean)Task & Ktoonsez (10/5) (AT&T/Rogers)
[KERNEL][AT&T][AOSP/Touchwiz][JELLYBEAN & ICS][10/3/2012] KT747 - LG8 - KTweaker (i thought custom ROMs already come with a custom kernal?)
How to flash AOKP custom ROM on the AT&T Galaxy S3 SGH-I747
[ROM][JB] Unofficial AOKP D2ATT (obviously unofficial, but is there a difference?)
and AOKP JB Build 4
in the past, i've just looked for my device on the official AOKP website, but the d2att device isn't available on any of the 4 JB builds.
so yea, any advice on which one is the most current and stable version i should use? or should i wait for it to possibly be added to build 5?
and an unrelated question... is it possible to change the default location/folder when performing a nandroid backup? i would like it to get saved to my micro SD card instead.
I've been using task and ktoonzes aokp since, well since it was ICS lol. I can't really compare it to any other ROM as I haven't seen a need to flash anything else. Ktoonzes kernel adds more functionality over the "stock" kernel that comes with it including over clock and under volt not to mention his own app to control the kernel settings and a widget to keep an eye on it.
thank you for the information.
i just noticed that the [ROM][JB] Unofficial AOKP D2ATT thread has some thanks to task and Ktoonsez for contributions.
and the Android Authority article links to a Ktoonsez download link.
i guess i should just go to the source of all these and flash the [ROM] AOKP(Jellybean)Task & Ktoonsez (10/5) (AT&T/Rogers) one?
All you need is tasks rom
No brainer

You don't want this one. http://rootzwiki.com/topic/34159-romjb-unofficial-aokp-d2att/ . Its some guy that has no clue what he's doing.
This is the most updated and it gets kept updated.

No, there are plenty of good TW based JB roms and even a Note 2 rom that is rocking JB.

I maent Galaxy Nexus style JB roms like CM10, AOKP
Really? You made a thread for this?? Did you even bother to check both Android Development & Original Android Development for your answer?

Yeah, plenty of those as well, check the original development forum, that's where all of the CM10 and Aosp based stuff are located.
I have recently installed CM10 on my AT&T galaxy s3(sgh-i747) and was wondering how to figure out if a kernel is compatible with my device. I was looking at the Devil kernel and didn't understand how to know if it would work with my phone.
Read the kernels thread OP. It should specify if it's for AOSP ROMs or Touchwiz ROMs. Kernels for our devices can be found in the Android development and original development sections.

So what specifications would it need to be compatible with my phone.

You mentioned CM10, so you want one that works with AOSP based ROMs. Also make sure they explicitly say CM10(Jellybean 4.1) or CM10.1 (Jellybean 4.2.1), depending on what version of Jellybean you have.

So im I'm looking at the kernel kt747 by ktoonz and there is a version for jellybean 4.2.1 and one that just says jellybean would it be safe to flash the one that just says aosp jellybean version (BTW I have cm10 so I have 4.1.2 not 4.2.1)? Thanks for all of the help.
Flash the one that says jellybean AOSP (12/11).

Yes. Flash the normal JB version. 4.2.1 is solely for 4.2.1. Not 4.1.2
Thanks
It worked well, thanks everyone for the help.

2nd that whx aokp builds are good. Running his milestone 1 build now. No problems at this point with Uber 5-11- kernel by ci3kener
So guys. I've installed CyanogenMod 10.1
Swapped memory seats with a modified vold.fstab
And installed the stone kernel.
I want to install CyanogenMod 10.2 or CyanogenMod 11 or OmniRom but I'm pretty unsure if I'm gonna get bricked. The main question is. is it safe to flash a custom Rom while you have a custom kernel installed?. Thanks.

Yes, you can insatall any one ROM that you like Every ROM contains its kernel and when you install ROM you also install new kernel.
You can flash any other kernels but this in ROM is optimized for it.

Mostly correct, but some cases are troubling (most notably installing 4.3.x over 4.4) so if it rejects known good ZIPs try flashing them over stock kernel+cwm6.zip
Anyway it's better to not change kernel from custom ROM's because they are good enough
