No, there are plenty of good TW based JB roms and even a Note 2 rom that is rocking JB.

Yeah, plenty of those as well, check the original development forum, that's where all of the CM10 and Aosp based stuff are located.

what is AOKP and AOSP

Hi everyone
Can u tell me what are AOKP and AOSP roms?
what do they do?
are they better than sense roms?
AOSP is an original ROM unmodified as Google intended it to be.
AOKP is based on AOSP but has some slight modifications but not modified to the extent of CM (Cyanogen)
As to if they are better or not well that is a matter of opinion, in terms of performance yeah all AOSP, AOKP and CM ROM's will run smoother and faster than a Sense ROM but there are plenty of people who enjoy the functionality of a Sense based ROM and those who don't.
Thank you! always wondered what that was.

awesome............ dud....
aosp = android open source project
aokp = android open kang project (link https://sites.google.com/site/androidopenkangproject/)

It's not really about the Samsung/Sense apps more about the whole "layer" that i.e. Samsung/HTC put over the basic rom, (touchwiz and sense in the case of samsung/htc).
So if you'd take those layers/apps away you would just have the basis which is just AOSP.
Personally, AOKP is better as it takea some influence from CyanogenMod, which is THE most popular ROM available for devices

They are finally in milestone 6 , ICS final and will start in JB from fresh! That's awesome news because DHD is still supported. There's pics with DHD working with JB.

No. AOKP ROMs are like any other ROM; they can be flashed from any recovery compatible with your phone.

Generally, can we classified ROMs as AOSP, AOKP, CM, MIUI, Sense. Am I right there is other category ?

It depends on the phone. For example, on this phone we have Sense because of HTC; other phones will have other overlays (like Samsung's TouchWiz). Also, some ROMs don't reside neatly in one category; for example, we have codefireX because of Team Codefire, which is descended from AOSP, CM, and some AOKP ideas.

[Q] Compatibility Of Kernels Question

I have recently installed CM10 on my AT&T galaxy s3(sgh-i747) and was wondering how to figure out if a kernel is compatible with my device. I was looking at the Devil kernel and didn't understand how to know if it would work with my phone.
Read the kernels thread OP. It should specify if it's for AOSP ROMs or Touchwiz ROMs. Kernels for our devices can be found in the Android development and original development sections.

You mentioned CM10, so you want one that works with AOSP based ROMs. Also make sure they explicitly say CM10(Jellybean 4.1) or CM10.1 (Jellybean 4.2.1), depending on what version of Jellybean you have.

So im I'm looking at the kernel kt747 by ktoonz and there is a version for jellybean 4.2.1 and one that just says jellybean would it be safe to flash the one that just says aosp jellybean version (BTW I have cm10 so I have 4.1.2 not 4.2.1)? Thanks for all of the help.
Flash the one that says jellybean AOSP (12/11).
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Yes. Flash the normal JB version. 4.2.1 is solely for 4.2.1. Not 4.1.2
Thanks
It worked well, thanks everyone for the help.

Can i get Stock JB rom for Xperia Ion?

Hi guys:
My question that if we can find a stock JB rom exactly like the Nexus 4 rom but working on Xperia Ion?? And what is AKOP and AOSP roms?
Sony not yet released any JB ROM/ Firmware for iON. It's due in May.
You will get official JB fw from the end of May.
AOSP means Android Open Source Project.
It is the "stock ROM" (or pure vanilla ROM) made by Google and is Open Source.
Lots of custom ROMs base on this rom, e.g. CyanogenMod, Panaroid Android, etc.
AOKP (Android Open Kang Projecy) is a custom ROM base on AOSP.

It depends on which ion you have. The international versions that can have the bootloader unlocked there is a CM10.0 (JB) ROM out. If you have at&t one then you're out of luck.

I had typed an explanation for you with the differences between all those roms, but then I figured that everything I said could be easily Google'd, and if you didn't bother doing that, I shouldn't bother explaining what every rom is and waste my time...
Just know: AOSP is stock Android (it's what's on the Nexus 4, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10, with a bit of a different layout for the tablets). CM, AOKP, Slim Bean and Paranoid Android (you should check PA out as well) are all basically AOSP with some extra options. The only way of really knowing them all is trying them. They're all pretty much the same but focus on a different aspect (AOKP and CM are in my opinion pretty much the same though). Also every rom has some screenshots in the thread to show what's new or different, just take a look at those.
One major advantage that all of the custom roms that I mentioned have over AOSP is that they support the theme engine, so you can easily change the looks by installing a theme app. There's lots of those on the Play Store. They're a handy way of changing the looks of your phone once in a while without having to flash a new rom.

The reason why i don't search on google that i am not very good with english language so i can't ream much to find the answer....
So what you are trying to told me that CM and AOKP both are stock android roms right? I tried them both and i saw them both exactly the same , just so small defferents.
Thank you because now i know what i have to search for: "JB 4.2 from CM or AOKP".
I tried both AOKP and CM10 , but also both have the same Wifi problem , it can't find any network.

The only difference, pretty much, is the launcher is trubutch in cm and in google aosp its googles clean rom
But cyanogen mod gives you more options
And it has the tmobile theme engine
So you can do anything with cyanogenmod and almost anything with aosp

Probably AOSP roms only, which I've been running Illusion 4.3 for as long as it's been out with no issues.

Not much, most AOSP ROMs are built around CM, plus other sources like Paranoid, MIUI, Rootbox, and AOKP. CM version will change once and if they upgrade to 4.4.
CM is basically AOSP with tweaks

First of all, wrong section.
Now to your question, openSEMC or the AOSP one if you want aosp based ROM, the AOSP one is claimed to be more stable, but with lesser option. If you want stock based, then there is only a few to choose from. Personally i will say go with aosp based, but its up to you. Paranoid is a nice one as well, all AOSP based ROM shares same bug as in openSEMC

AOSP/OpenSEMCis out of the question with locked bootloader. You have to stick to stock based rom.
Difference between AOSP and OpenSEMC is customization. You can't flash these roms unless you unlock your bootloader.

Firstly - Please, please post in the appropriate section. This is a development thread and not the place for such posts.
Secondly - Do some research yourself, read all the threads , you'll surely find what you are looking for.
Thirdly - If you are locked bootloader, forget about all the CyanogenMod or AOSP ROM's. There's just one CM10 ROM that works on locked bootloader. This is because you can't change the kernel on locked bootloader's
And last - Google all your doubts. Google is your friend. You'll get answers a lot more quicker.
I think it's wrong section for this.move thread to General Q.

In my opinion, stock is the best. Just came back from OpenSEMC KitKat. Rayman's ROM is great for sure, however, the user interface is a bit laggy and it's quite buggy.
So there's no need to be sad at all.

i love ExistenZ rom but i prefer black so mine is stock deodex + black system apps + zu framework by jjwrong + xperia z1 task switcher + full screen caller mod by rajeev + few extra themes = perfect rom i love this combo for speed, looks and mediocre battery.keep in mind i am a heavy user with 100+ apps installed.
I'm more of a performance guy...
n i have about 7 apps+only 87 system apps(only the skeleton)
