I don't believe your phone will see any more updates. It's well past the updating period, you're never going to get as good as you'd get rooting and a custom rom.

Orange desire owners please read..

hi..
im trying to find some one with a desire from orange that has not rooted their phone yet..
and if possible for you to make a rom back up and send it to me please..
mucho appreciated if any one could do this..
( this is presuming its possible as the stock orange rom is the only one i cannot find available online. )
It's a paradox. You can dump it without root, and you get root without dropping to generic. If there was some way, it'd have probably been done by now. It's asked for a lot.
Dawm, if you posted this one day early I could have help'ed you, yesterday I just flashed my orange locked desire.
Sorry

In the hope they could copy the un rooted Rom
a previous poster suggested away of extracting something to then be able to re flash another phone making it stock.
I only want this for warranty reasons as well as just so I can go back to full stock default if needed

,,,,,, I've said it time and again,,,
If you flash with the Orange* stock ROM you have a stock phone with no root
*change to your provider where needed

I'm not planning to do it I would just like the option to. As I totally forgot to back mine up out of excitement of rooting

i dont know, i got this phone a week ago and tried the ota updater and it had nothing. this just popped up today. i do not plan to install it either way but are you sure this is the same update?
I'm 99% sure. If you update you won't be able to root phone until HTC release new unlock.
My WFS has bootloader unlocked, S-ON and rooted, running JxMatteoROM v1.1.
No need to use any updates from HTC anymore. I froze update with link2sd and no more nag to install it.
What is the Android version? Is it 2.3.5?

[Q] Rooted phone + OTA Three UK

Hey guys I just released today that my phone had the OTA update and i'm on Three in UK.
Anyhow I'm really wondering how I can update it with my rooted phone i'm pretty sure it will cause problems. What is the best way to update to the latest software with a rooted phone?
Do I have to unroot it?
Do I have to relock bootloader?
I'd like some clarification!!
Thanks a lot.
i just done the same on my three Uk version, i had to uninstall cwm install original recovery lock the boot back and download update and install,
priesl forpage
I swear you only had to relock the bootloader.
well i guess i done all this for nothing as i just come of the phone to three, i got the black version of htc one x, i found screen flickering so they going to send me the new one , well i thought ill go for the white one lets hope the new phone is ok

This is what I'm wondering. I'm running stock rom (rooted) and from what I can gather you have to unroot and reflash HTC stock recovery. I'm waiting for confirmation before I go ahead though

Well exactly what you just said, I don't see the point of doing a recovery though (if you're on a stock rom) anyway i'd like a explanation from a guy that knows a lot about it, would be appreciated.

I asked in another thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25508923
Looks like you havn't got to relock bootloader, just unroot, flash stock recovery (if on a custom recovery) then update
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
I may be wrong but I though it still updated if on stock, you just lose root so you need to root it again afterwards. That's from past experience with Samsung phones, but thought it'd might be similar on other phones which is why I added my input.
Ota updates check system files before it reports if an update is available (does it not?), if it reports an update it must be fine IMO.

Thanks man =) will do right now and report if successful, for other people.
You'll have to delete clockwork recovery mod before updating.. not sure how but i'll find out. I'm still a noob since I switched to android a few weeks ago.

Delete supersu app and Su binaries. Go into system/bin or xbin and look for a file called Su, then delete it. You could try to update while rooted but people have reported errors and stuff messing up

well, i don't think there is a stock JB root, you can unlock the bootloader then flash recovery and then flash a custom rom ... remember to do a nandroid backup before doing this
Thanks bro. I was looking for this answer on google and no had seem to do this... Full OTA and then root.
I think I would wait until someone makes a root method for Stock JB (OTA) on HTC One X
It's exactly the same process as with ICS. What's the problem?

Yes and please do not forget to backup the original JB rom before you root and put a custom rom .... so you can go back to stock at any time, there is no RUU available yet to get it back to stock at the moment.
Edit : sorry i just saw that matt also gave the hint to back it up
Nandroid is ur best friend when coming to installing any ROM. Don't forget it. It'll save a lot of time if any problem is encountered.

How to find a ruu is for every cid number the same process ! And this process has been covered millions of times in the Q&A.there are also clear guides in the dev thread under stickies. It should be mandatory to read them before continuing.
Don't know what else to say about it !

Why is that all I want to do is roll back from the OTA to the previous state before any OTA updates as I can no longer access the beats audio settings I have no interest yet in rooting the device with a custom firmware unless i really have to as like I said i am a complete noob to all this.
