I see the suggestions but when I press the space bar it wont insert the suggested word. I have looked everywhere to turn this on. Any ideas? This is the Sprint version.
It doesn't work on any Note 2 at the moment, not your fault or any config that you can change.

Wow, that is pretty bad. I tried to use just a stock Jellybean kb and had issues with enter key on the email app.
What other keyboards are you guys using? I hate swype... thanks!
I use SwiftKey 3.
Samsung keyboard seems broken to me.

It's a bit painful, that, since so many good things are tied to the Samsung keyboard (Handwriting recognition, floating keyboard in multiscreen, one-handed mode, and parts of Swiftkey for that matter).

I recommend swift key 3 until Samsung gets it out. In fact I recommend it over the Samsung keyboard. But from what I read the new Samsung keyboards are based on swift key. Is that right?

This is annoying... I hope their is a fix for this
The more I use the keyboard, the more I like it. There are pros and cons to having the spacebar auto correct. I do agree that they should make it an option though but after a couple of days with the Note 2 keyboard I find that I have less errors and am almost typing just as fast as SwiftKey. If you stick with the Samsung keyboard, you will get better at it.
Plus the numbers at the top and the pen input is too hard to give up. The pros outweigh the cons in my opinion.

TouchPal is a good keyboard too. And it's free!
Samsung has purposefully left it out. Your keyboard is fine. Although it would have been nice if Samsung had actually included the option to enable or disable auto correct. I use the Jelly Bean Pro keyboard from the Play Store. But I switch to the Samsung one if I am using Multi Window functionality.

Handwritten from my Galaxy Note II
The Hong Kong stock firmware keyboard I loaded a couple weeks back did perform autocorrect but the performance was so iffy (guessing the same incorrect word over and over rather than learning from prior corrections being the biggest issue) that I moved back to SwiftKey. I'm bummed about losing easy handwriting and the number row but as a whole I'm happier with the Swiftkey.
Some others stated that they got used to the stock keyboard without autocorrect but after a week+ on the English keyboard I decided it wasn't worth it.

Well mine worked fine until yesterday. It corrects its to it's automatically. But it doesnt work anymore.
I dont know why it worked at first place then not working anymore..
Btw I updated language as soon as I booted phone up for the first time..

Totally agree with this!!
It might be worth everyone giving Ultra Keyboard a try from the play store. It does Google voice typing, better swiping than the stock keyboard and allows a permanent number row. Also has long press secondary characters. The only thing you give up is the handwriting but for me that is infrequent enough that I'm prepared to switch keyboards just for when I need it.

Does anyone think we will get the autocorrect back?
As title states...just picked up my Note 2 today. Best phone I've ever owned hands down, but the spell correction is non existent...literally. Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere? I see the correct spelling as suggestions, but if I hit the space bar they are not chosen. Thanks in advance.

I didn't like it at the beginning either, but it sorta grows on me now. I like the feature that it predicts my next word if I type part of a phrase. Also I can type a few words without hitting space, and the keyboard can insert space between the words. That's really neat.

Try the swype keyboard that's pre-installed. It gives you the option to choose the correct word. Another step but I like the swype keyboard better. Give it a try.

SwiftKey on all my devices.

Not a huge deal but very odd that if you type like normal, text just doesn't spell check...ever. It shows the right spelling above the keyboard, but won't automatically change to that word. I still think I'm missing something.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
yeah same as OP i thought auto correct automatically would change the word for you but nope

Yes that is weird. But if you swype the word it will spell check it for you.

My experiences on keyboard accuracy. 1. Swype beta is fastest and most accurate with voice swyping. Much better than pre-installed Swype. HOWEVER s~ pen does not work at all. There is a microphone button. 2. Swype installed had no Mic button and short several features of the free beta...i guess s~ voice may cover that but haven't figured that our yet and too many steps when likely to use Mic.. 3. Samsung keyboard a good compromise but a compromise it is. Swyping less accurate, Mic button buried, voice recognition not as good as sywpe beta, s pen works well, no navigation like the beta, but I really like the always present number row. Now if Swype beta fixed the s~ pen problem and adds a number row it will be perfect. In the meanwhile i am compromising by using the Samsung keyboard.

This. I like it better. I sometimes text in Spanish, and the auto correct was a nightmare, also if you use abbreviations or slang words. I also like that I can put the cursor on a word I already wrote and it will give me the correct spelling. I have big fingers and hit the c or v key alot with the space bar, I can fix those mistakes easily now.
I want the Samsung keyboard from the note 1 on the note2

Hi, i would like to know if it's possible to resize the keyboard in landscapemode, because when I'm using whatsapp etc. it covers more than half of the screen.
A noobfriendly way to make it work would be awesome guys
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Yeah it is quite big eh... Just tried it now. But maybe as the phone is large there is no need to use landscape on it.
The portrait on this is like landscape on an Iphone lol

That's true but I'm used to write in landscapemode cause i have big thumbs so it would be really nice if someone found a way

Hey guys,
SwiftKey seems to be somewhat proactive about the "features" they pursue. There are two features that would make SwiftKey killer, don't troll me with "stock keyboard", IMO it's terrible and an afterthought:
Number Row (toggleable?): http://support.swiftkey.net/forums/...uggestions/2220958-number-row-optional-5-row-
Condensed keyboard (for one-handed operation,): http://support.swiftkey.net/forums/...ensed-mode-for-one-handed-operation-slide-all
Hit the links and submit your votes!
A dedicated number row is the only reason I'm still using the Samsung keyboard. I prefer Swype, but I think I bought Swiftkey, so I'll definitely check out that first link.

I too prefer Swype, but I think SwiftKey is more pro-active with customer support and whatnot. I switched to SwiftKey b/c with the Note II's size, I found myself "pecking" away with my thumbs more often and it seems to perform better.
Anyways, just trying to manage-up and get the keyboard I really want
Thanks!
Ya the only reason im on stock is there was no number key
Sent from my SGH-I317 using xda premium
I actually vastly prefer the way Swiftkey handles numbers. It's much easier, and quicker, for me to type numbers when they're in the same layout as everything else: phone, right side of the keyboard, calculator, etc. A row of numbers, like the stock keyboard, is frustrating IMO.
I've tried them all. SwiftKey is the best IMO - shortcomings or not.
You can't beat their predictions.
Just wish SwiftKey Tablet had arrows like standard SwiftKey.

I wish I could say that, I'm just saying that we've definitely made a big dent in voting up these ideas, 50% increase on on and 33% increase on the other, if we can keep it up, I'm sure they will see the value of implementing these functions, especially since larger devices are going to become more mainstream.
Absolutely men I with SwiftKey I write like 3 times faster and in two languages really is amazing

I would love the hell out if this keyboard if it had proper auto correct
SwiftKey plus a number row would be a good substitute. Although the keypad sounds for SwiftKey are downright grating compared to stock.

I use Swiftkey as my typing keyboard, when I pull the Spen my phone automatically switches to Samsung keyboard. Get S-pen switcher then you can have the best of both worlds.

Have any of you guys notice that the SAMSUNG on screen keyboard lags when pulling it up from a text field? After clicking on a text box it takes so long for it to pull up the keyboard.
Sent from my SM-P600 using Tapatalk
I'm noticed this too, a little annoying to be honest
Sent from my SM-P600 using Tapatalk
Me too. I started using SwiftKey and I think it's a little better. I recall the lag being worse while using the small sized floating keyboard. SwiftKey has that same option though, so I've been using that. Multiling O keyboard had a bunch of options as well and is free, unlike SwiftKey.
Yeah i notice it more on certain apps like chrome more than i do on other apps like tapatalk....tbh on tapatalk its rapid on mine but overall nothing too annoying for me.
