Just curious if there's a guide or tweak to lock apps into memory for our desire z devices?
Wat app u wanna lock? Use v6 bulletproof work..

I am slightly perplexed at your query. If you speak of what I surmise, you may attempt the following
1) If you refer to the data of applications, they remain lest you perform a data wipe.
2) The applications may be preserved via numerous Back-up applications (I personally prefer Titanium Back-up).
Should the above fail to aid you, I implore that you further explain your intent.
I'm assuming the op doesn't want a certain app(s) to fall out of memory as in keep that app(s) locked in ram. this will make it so you don't have to wait for an app to load. off the top of my head the only way I can think off is what steven how is saying, to change an apps priority/oom grouping with v6supercharger. I can post a link when a get to a computer for a better explanation

as promised! and if you need further help setting it up this may help

Anybody can tell me which system apps i can remove from sprint lovers roms without ruining the phone? Thanks guys

I'm not at my MacBook at the moment, but if you do a search for safe to remove apps for the EVO, you will find several lists. There is also a sense removal script floating around that you can alter to your liking. If you're new to rooting, I would suggest you use the Titanium Backup app and "freeze" the items you don't want instead of removing them. If, by chance, the frozen item causes problems or you find it to be something you need, you can always "defrost".

is there an app to stop apps and games loading in background
No it's the way android works, kill one background app. And android will just let another one start up.
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk
Do not use task killers. They probably do more harm than good.
With the "Autostarts" app, you can actually prevent the app service from loading in the first place. Is that what you mean?
You can try titanium backups freeze mode where you can stop certain apps from loading without uninstalling them. There is a safe list on these forums, have a look for them.
This is all pointless though, As i said before freeze or stop one process, and android will just let another one start up. The only way around it is like only having 5 apps installed . Anyway lots of free ram is a bad thing on android, it means your system is not optimised. Remember android uses ram diffrent to windows. You should have 40-60mb of free memory. That means android is running it's own workload well
If you don't have the paid version of titanium backup you can also try bloatfreezer. You can get it from the android market and it's free

I use app quarantine, it'll stop apps from opening/running you don't want to run without changing the system... You need root, tho

Any help here would be appreciated. This happened twice with google maps and once with facebook. Instead of integrating, apps are being removed from phone.
I am on stangs rom the latest official deodexed gingerbread rom...never had this problem before.
Are you restoring data+apps? And if so what Rom did u back them up with?
Sent from my ADR6300 using xda premium
Nah. When I install a new rom (like this one for instance) I only restore user apps and data. I leave all the internal apps alone.
Soo after getting updates for internal apps (like Gmail/Maps/Facebook) I use the intergrate button and then **poof** the apps are removed. Icon still shows up under system/apps in Root Explorer but the app and icon don't show up anymore on phone.
So what do you guys recommend? Should I just do this manually in Root Explorer? How can I integrate on my own to save some space?
Just wanted to bump. I know I can do this the reverse way while rooted. I guess by removing the app and reinstalling again but anyone else have any ideas?
Still getting this problem.
How much free space is is /system? TB may fail on moving if there is not enough space free.

Hmmm I bet you are on to something. Only about 3-4 mb free. Even though I can free up about another 40 mb by deleting an app.disabled folder I created. Thanks man I bet this is why.
I've been reading this forum for about a week or so. I was wondering what that "partition" means. I have cm 7.2 but haven't done that.
Other question is that when I use SetCPU to overclock my gio then when I reach to about 900 MHz, my Gio freezes and I have to take out my battery to reboot. It happens always I try to overclock.
If you need more information then ask
P.S. I have Galaxy Gio S5660 CM 7.2 RC-1 Patch 4
Partition is a part wich you can create via an program on computr to crrate a partitioon on your sd card..
Then data and caches can be moved there using root acces and special app..
So you get more internal memory free.
Only thing; it slows down apps because of the cache and data is moved where it isnt normally.
Thats why im not using it any more

So it isn't necessary?

Well if you run out of memory it is, I got 40 MB free, all apps on Sd, data and cache on intrnal.
Howeverrrr you can delete some apps in /system wich frees up space, I got rid of all unneeded CM7 apps.
I dont need it to run cm7 with much apps and games

Can you make a list for me what apps to delete?

Im using an app called system app remover, can be found free if you seatch google....
You can set assist for it, wich gives green, red or yellow colors, what users thought about removing it.
I only remove green ones, back up them, and yellow ones If I know what app it is, like google search or voice dialer wich I both dont use.

You can use Simple2Ext with CM7.2 i am also using it. It will make your internal memory free i managed to get 172mb free from 178mb total.
First you have to make an ext4 partition from the pc by putting the sdcard in the sdcard reader. remember NEVER use the phone or usb cable to make the partition.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cygl0qZnbaM
This video will help you make it and afterwards you can follow the instructions of enabling simple2ext from the CM 7.2 thread.
and you dont have to use SetCPU to overclock. Just go to cyanogenmod settings and then go into performance, there you can set the minimum and maximum speed. Different models of gio can clock sometimes higher sometimes lower.
Well yes I know about cm being able to overclock from settings but the problem is freezing. It freezes even when I overclock from settings. And ty for the material on partition.

Freezing must be because your gio wont support that much overclock, try something lower than that. and welcome you can always press the thanks button

It totally depends upon your needs. If you do need some apps but can't have them because of space issues then sd-ext partition would definitely help you. Otherwise, you don't really need it. I went as high as 107 apps installed and still had 57MB or so free. Also, the slowing down of apps is not noticeable (not talking about games etc.)
You should define your needs first and then proceed. Plus, you can always undo that so no harm in trying.

Nah, he already has CM installed. That must be hardware problem.
From what I read that other users post our Gio vary in hardware part - somebody says their CPU runs smooth at 950 MHz, and somebody says "hey, mine freezes at 845 MHz".
So it's just a matter of experiments that would allow you to find maximum stable frequency (just like in a world of "big computers" - different chips could be OC'ed to different frequency even if they were initially labelled the same)
As for external SD partition... I certainly recommend SD class 6 as minimal to do this (and 10 would be much better). I think internal memory is something around 10 class (that are my observations, no tests neither official publications to back this up).
To find out what SD class is read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital#Speed_Class_Rating
OK, I have a question, does anyone know of a good app that can make user apps into system apps and vice versa? I know one exists, I use to have it, but can't for the life of me, remember what it was calked!

Never mind I had a backup of the one I use to use. If anyone knows a better one than system tuner, let me know though. I could use a better one.

Titanium Backup has the option to when you long press an app in the backup/restore menu.
I had read this before, but I could never figure out how it was done until you posted. Thanks, lightningdude!
Also systemcleanup (yes, no spaces) can do that too!
