OK, I have a question, does anyone know of a good app that can make user apps into system apps and vice versa? I know one exists, I use to have it, but can't for the life of me, remember what it was calked!

Never mind I had a backup of the one I use to use. If anyone knows a better one than system tuner, let me know though. I could use a better one.

Titanium Backup has the option to when you long press an app in the backup/restore menu.
I had read this before, but I could never figure out how it was done until you posted. Thanks, lightningdude!
Also systemcleanup (yes, no spaces) can do that too!

Hey all,
I did a short search for this info both in this forum and outside, and it seems like no one has come up with a solution yet. For the last thread like this one, please look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13160755
I flash ROMs regularly on my DInc, and I would like to start consolidating as much info as possible. Does anyone know of an app that will either transfer or sync bookmarks between phones/ROMs (ie, get the data on a SD card)? I am not interested in third party browsers - I'd like to keep it simple.
If I have to go searching through data directories, I will. But it seems as if this should be easier than that. I have heard of issues with Titanium Backup - often causes errors/fc's, so I am also not looking at that as a solution right now.
Thanks in advance for any help!
I back mine up and restore them issue free across roms with Titanium Backup. Never had a problem, always use stock browser.

Is there any way to add some apps/games to pre-installed ?
If there is a way to do it please tell me how im a newbie and I might ask alot of questions.
Regards,
JC2
Well basically pre-installed means "installed apps, (if paid or under the copyright such as google apps) still protected by the law but legally and originally dependend to the ROM provided by manufacturer/producer/network operator/developer and free to use for everyone who owns the device" which is mainly the phone.
So I think there is no reasonable way to add pre-installed games/apps, but only download/buy them and just install...
I don't really see the point of this question but I'll be happy if my post helps you.
Cheers!
Put the apk in the system/app folder then install it.
That doesn't sound like what you're asking, but the closest I know you can do. Or you can use Titanium Backup to convert it to a system app.

How can I use titanium backup to convert it to a system app?
In Titanium Backup long press the app and choose convert to system app. You need the paid for version though.

Hey, I have looked at the ''junk app thread'' but I did not see any google apps on there. Does that mean they are not safe to remove? I do not use any of the google app's and they are clogging up my app tray, can I remove them without them having an affect on the market or youtube? Thanks in advance
Safest answer? DON'T! Most google apps and processes are inter linked, so messing with one app can cause force closes on another. worse still you may no be able to make calls or send texts.

Hey guys!
The title says it all! I am wondering what apps you guys believe are a must have right after you flash a new rom.
My first ones are Xtreme Alarm clock and To.do. Both are brilliant at what they are meant to do!
Stryg
I don't download apps when i install a new ROM for the first time. I restore my apps through TWRP. I use app2zip to generate the scripts.

I reinstall all necessary and desired apps from the play store by sliding going to the "my apps" page, and sliding over to the "All" apps pane and individually choosing. This is because I know sometimes, depending on what rom and phone I'm restoring to, there may be some apps that I see as obsolete and choose not to reinstall. Then, using the app "Datasync" I pull down all my old settings from the apps from my dropbox account back onto my phone. Saves me 30mins of reconfiguring many of the settings. I can also automatically back up to the dropbox account using "Datasync" so that it is always up to date.
Another alternative to datasync is carbon, from clockwork recovery. And for those that are wondering, I tried setting up some "social gaming" using datasync pro on my device and a friend's, so that we could play and beat games together, like angry birds levels, etc, but datasync does a full wipe and backup for both uploads and downloads, and not partial incremental changes like I originally thought, so my social gaming idea failed.
Titanium Backup! Ever since my G1 its been my method of choosing what to restore and backup. Lol I've had it so long its before there was a pro version and you donated to unlock certain features.

Titanium backup and rom toolbox, sometimes Google play store doesn't download my apps so it's always good to have a backup with titanium. I also use apex launcher and have a backup made in that so I don't have to set it up again just click restore

I do this exact same thing when flashing a ROM from a clean start. Usually I do pick AdAway first from the list (I know it not on the Store anymore, so I install the APK from my SD. Then Root Explorer and XDA Premium, then whatever else I feel I want at the time.
On a side note does anyone know when the XDA app will be back up? It's been days (if not weeks?). My subscriptions don't show. That's the only (main) reason I paid for it. Easy access on the go to my threads.

Just wondering if i create a backup of my apps (whats app, games etc) and then restore them after installing any custom rom, do i need to re-register them?
Like for whats app, do i need to register it again? Asking this question because i used a number which was 'accidentally' transferred to someone else by vodafone and yet my what's app works fine right now.
Sent from my LG-E988 using xda app-developers app
No, you don't need to re register again.

Sent from my LG-E988 using xda app-developers app
You cant restore apps from a unrooted phone. You need root. You can it do with titanium backup.
Sent from my LG-E986 using xda app-developers app
For non-rooted apk backup.
"Appmonster" is the one i am using now. It only will backup your added stuff easily. Different programs have different mechanisms for licencing, so there are some that certannly will have to re-connect with the store or something before they will be the paid version. Others that it is a part added securely, and one (piece of crap) wanted to licence verify every day. Appmonster does not backup extra external data stuff, So i do that manually, and again it might still have to connect to finish. or check licence.
there are 2 others that do the simple backup installed apps to apk packages, both worked (unrooted) for what you can do unrooted, i just happen to be using appmonster because it was simple, and aimable to a folder. Some paid programs are not able to be backed up with it, some secured stuff .
Try Helium too. Need to hook up to a PC for it to work though. Works with uprooted.
