Hi.
I don't know if this is an issue with the phone's hardware or my service provider.
First my phone was working beautifully everything was fine until one day I accidently dropped my phone and after a couple of hours the data was playing up. But I don't think that dropping the phone would do such a thing.
Any suggestions?

Define horrible..
i've had somehow the same issue until ARHD 9.7.2 ..
when the phone was stock my 3G connection was blazing fast and reacted instantly ..
After flashing roms the connection become slower at reacting but the speed tests was still the same ..
however after i installed 9.7.2 the 3G speeds has been faster than ever for me!

Anyone else noticed their Desire getting extremely hot? Noticed it when connected through Tmob UK HSDPA - haven't noticed at any other time but then I have only had the Desire a couple of days and have used it mainly on WiFi.
I noticed the bottom of the handset was getting VERY warm, as was the screen! Turned off sharpish and it's been alright since but then I haven't been on HSDPA again, only WiFi.
i thought it was just mine, also gets quite hot during charging as well.
mine too
hi, mine is very warm too, not only during charging. Battery gets hot after about hour, using wifi, installing, etc..
not just me then, that's a relief. Come to think of it I had just installed a few apps. Wondering if one of those could have caused it. It really was uncomfortable to hold and quite worrying!
Considering a hard reset just in case.
Got my desire yesterday...and I've been using it non stop...and its hotttt!!!

Hmm, I have been using it all day long as well ... but on Wi-Fi ... also played some games for couple of hours.
No hot .... Slightly warm yes, but un-notice-able.
I turned off almost everything:
- No auto-update
- Bluetooth OFF
- Animation off
- Always on off
- GPS off
Am I lucky?
My Battery is (apparently) running at 40.7C, and its not even warm to touch, God knows what yours may be at!
The cause may be the HSDPA, i remember when my S730 was getting really warm when connected through HSDPA, but when 3g or wifi was connected.
I dont think it will get too hot on wifi .. seemed to be just when I was on hsdpa. Not been on hsdpa since home tonight, only wifi and its not noticeably warm tonight.
Will see what happens tomorrow I guess. Maybe I should get a temp monitor ready!
Mine never gets hot over wifi, i've been using wifi only for about 10 days as i used my 1 GIG data bundle. It does get bit warm while charging and as soon as it charge to 100% then its cool as ice.
Generic one from CPW.
Welcome to smartphones . They all get hot these days, especially after an intense data session.

Obviously wern't as smart as your desire..... All my HTC's with big processors and integrated GPU's have got hot after long sessions. I'd say that the 200mhz processor wouldn't get very hot........... compared to a 1ghz processor.......
mine got really hot today, only noticed it after taking it out of the table, it then switched itself off, I actually thought phone went kaputs!
removed battery and left it for a few minutes to cool down and after switched it on no problems!

No.
HSDPA = 7.2Mbit/s
3G = 3.6Mbit/s
Doesn't get even luke warm for me under any usage scenario... around 30c is max I've yet seen under videoing loads with WiFi and a bunch of other things running. Had this for 2 weeks now.

Was just pointing out that I've used smartphones for some time, not necessarily making a direct comparison. Same processor as the HD2 though and that never reached the blistering temp my Desire seemed to reach yesterday.
Odd, not done it since, even on hsdpa so perhaps it was a hungry app after all!
Mine getting hot everyime I use 3G data connection. even 10-15 mins and the back will be hot, getting hotter with further use.....
Normal our faulty set
I think it's quite normal they get hot. Also depends on how you use the device (what kind of connection etc) and how good the signal is.
If you charge your device at the same time you use a heavy data connection and/or playing a game I guess the battery will get quite warm!
I apologise if this has come up before. However, and I don't understand why, my HTC DEsire was running perfectly about 2 weeks ago. But for some reason after I installed the iNSertCoin ROM my internet speed and market download speed is INSANELY slow. My phone says that I've got a 4 bar HSDPA connection so this really shouldn't be occuring. I've reverted back to the GingerVillain ROM (the rom I used before iNsertCoin) and it's still a problem.
I've tried many different Radios with the correct RIL's and nothing seems to work. It works fine with wifi (don't know why that would help but meh )
Help would be much appreciated guys. THanks.
Is anybody there?!
Come on guys. Someone help lol
You do realise that using something like HSDPA or 3G connects maybe miles away. It also depends on how much connection your carrier is giving out. Just use Wi-Fi or something but using something like HSDPA isn't always guaranteed to be 100% fast at ALL times.
Check at your carrier if you have any kind of maximum bandwith use. Maybe after like 200MB data transfer your account gets limited speeds. Fair use policy or something. Maybe that's why your speeds are so slow.
My plan is Unlimited Internet and I'm 100% sure I don't use so much that I exceed the fair-use policy. And my point is that 2 weeks ago it was perfectly fine. The speed was fine and I haven't moved house or anything. Just seems very odd that it would drop so much. For example, it takes me A VERY LONG time to download an app now. Before, this wasn't the case.
A few weeks ago, I rooted my brother's Evo 4G. Everything went as smooth as possible. Well, he's a cop, and their air cards suck, so he's been using his tethering quite a bit. The last few days though, he's noticed that his phone has slowed down considerably. In fact, he has a hard time texting because it's so slow. My first though was overheating, but he is using Wifi Tether (with the battery temp) and has been keeping an eye on it. Is there anything that tethering could be doing that would cause this? And no, he hasn't installed anything on his phone recently. At least not in the last 2 weeks or so.
I noticed that I have to reset the phone allot. If I am in an area with no reception for a while then go back to an area with reception it wont automatically reconnect and the LTE stays off sometimes. I have to reboot the phone.
The same problem is with signal strength too, it will not reconnect automatically sometimes. My 4G LTE does this allot. It does become annoying. I am afraid to get another phone in fear it will be worse then this one. I already had to exchange my phone and am running out of exchange days. (14 day period)
My first M8 I got on June 30 was slow, incredibly laggy and very buggy to the point it was nearly unusable. That first M8 had a mind of it's own. Maybe it was the first gen, I do not know. This replacement phone has been good to me minus the fact it sometimes drops calls and gets SUPER warm RANDOMLY even when ALL the apps are closed. The new phone is MUCH faster with the same settings and runs much smoother.
These connection issues are bugging the hell out of me, my iPhone never had this problem and would always reconnect fast. I do not like the S5 and I like the HTC but I do wonder about it's quality control and the quality of the internal components inside.
I hope its not hardware. I hope an update fixes the issue I'm constantly restarting.

good day - i have not had any of these issues with the m8 at all. has been snappy since day one. i have had little to no connectivity issues either. i have gone from way out in the country back into coverage, 2g snaps on immediately, then 3g, then closer to the city, 4g. my wife and i have a family plan and both devices switch within seconds of each other. different phone, she has the g2 but zero connectivity issues there too. we are in northern IL / Chicago market so it might be different. might be a dud phone? i do not think it has to do with hardware quality though. i went from an htc incredible that i had to replace a speaker in after 10 months but had no other issues with, to an incredible 2 that i had 0 issues with, to a S3 that was awesome, to a note 3 that was great, to the m8 which has been wonderful. my wife went from a blackberry that was crazy solid, to a S4 that was total CRAP, to the G2 which is amazing. if you can i would try and get a new one?

Hey, thank you for the response.
I went to T-Mobile today and they Factory Reset my phone.
I left to mobile and they told me to come back within 24 hours there is a failure
I ended up having a buggy phone with artifacts and flashes similar to an overclocked GPU. T-Mobile told me it might fix the phone.
Tomorrow, I am going back for my 2nd replacement. I like this phone, it works much better then my first phone but the connection problems are extreme and it starting to feel like faulty hardware. My first phone was full of lag, it was factory reset and lagged on the machine as well. The machine(a laptop) even had to be restarted.
Some guy had same issue and replacing sim card fix it. You should give it a try

I read (in the note 3 forums i think) that data dropouts were an inherent problem in android 4.4.2, and the code was fixed in version 4.4.3. Don't know if it applies to this phone as well, but if its an android system problem it could be.
This problem is really annoying happens too often.

Yeah it's happening more often that I would like but it's not a daily thing
hey guys, my beloved htc m8 which hasn't been dropped and is on 10 out of 10 condition was suddenly started playing up
few days ago, the message app kept crashing, then my phone started getting warm, and battery life was reduced...
but today things seems has got worse, i keep loosing signal, then it gains full signal looses signal over and over, it seems to settle down, and then it starts losing signal again.
so i decided to reinstall my custom rom wolla v7.0 still no luck
any ideas? anything i can do?
flash stock RUU and see how it goes
just my opinion
hey, thank you for your reply, i did think of giving it a go. just an odd update, the symptoms seem worse if i disconnect from wifi, its as if the 4g lte connection is making the issue worse. also its is actually showing no sim, then ee sim and no sim in the setting menus. does this sound familiar to anyone. just flashed elementalx kernel.
any other help would be great
