Does anyone have a link for the drivers for the Epic 4G Touch? My phone is not showing up on adb and I can't seem to find them.
they should be the same one as the epic no?

Should be there when they're released ... all that shows up right now is the user manual.

I don't think so.
what drivers are you refering to? are you trying to access your USB storage inside the phone on your computer or what are you trying to do? which USB drivers are you refering to?
Connect to the computer with usb debugging disabled. It will install a driver, then unplug, enable usb debugging, and you should be able to see it with adb

I did actually, and Kies couldn't see the phone.
Also, the phone did not see a USB connection, though it was charging
per the documentation I tried to mount as mass storage device through Wireless and Networking. This didn't do anything either, phone still charges.
I had borrowed the USB cable from a co-worker, I had him plug it in to his phone, and it works just fine, just XP machine sees his phone.
Turns out, its something with the cable.
rummaging around for another cable, I noticed I had my XOOM and its cord with me. Its the same type, but its the Moto brand one (if that makes it any different?)
plugged it in instead just for ****s and giggles. It works.
Phone just doesn't like his cable for whatever reason.
Now Win7 sees the phone, and Kies sees it (doesn't like the debugging mode but whatever)
His cable was an LG branded one. Any one know if there's something different?
I've tested 2 LG branded usb cables and they do not work. Same thing you described.
I found it in pull it out half way the phone recognizes USB and the computer sees the phone but if I try to transfer files I get a "device disconnected" error... Or something like that. I can see the files, just can't touch 'em.
I could not believe that the cable is have been using on tons of devices for years wouldn't work only on this one. I'd sooner believe it was the computer. So I grabbed a coworkers much newer LG branded cable and same thing... I still didn't believe it after testing 2 cables on 3 computers... Though I had a hunch from the first second I plugged it in I still can't believe it... And then I read this.
Explanation please, lol.

I downloaded Kies as well, and it did install a driver called "SAMSUNG Mobile USB Composite Device", but I don't think this is what I need (trying to root).
Whenever I open Odin w/ the phone connected, no COM port mapping number displays...
Using the USB cable that came w/ the phone.

FYI - I had to use the provided Samsung USB charger cable for my computer and phone to communicate. Otherwise, my phone would only charge, but it would not show up as MTP-Connected (or USB Connected).

Have you considered getting your USB adapter/port checked for issues? It could be possible that the adapter no longer has the ability to send data, but only charges the E4GT when connected; try using another USB port on your computer.

I have three computers here and none of them are working with it --- and the weirdest thing that I just noticed === it seems like its just showing the charging animation... I left it plugged into my computer when it was supposedly charging, screen turned off, check back in 20 minutes and it had gone down by 20% --- it's just like its triggering the charging animation
If your phone will charge but won't transfer data, there is a strong possibility it is actually a problem with the cable. I tested 3 LG micro-usb cables which all worked fine with an LG phone, but would not transfer data with the Epic 4G Touch. The would only charge. I thought my USB port was busted at first also because I tried 3 different cables and this is the first time I've encountered a situation where micro-usb cables were not universal.

Thats strange because that is all I've used were LG cables... they have worked fine for me since day one?
My Nexus is stock but it is unlocked.
I have the latest CWM on there (touch 5.8.0.2)
I was currently downloading all the necessary stuff to flash to AOKP but havent even got there yet because all of the sudden my USB isn't working.
I have tried two different cables, the stock one and a different one (both which were working before).
I get charging working through USB but no file transfer.
I just did a wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache via Recovery, and still nada.
Am I cooked here? B-stock with no warranty from Expansys, now currently kicking myself for not buying brand new.
[edit] yes MTP and USB Debug were/are both checked on
[edit2] a lot of my searches seem to indicate that you can move and transfer via adb in recovery or fastboot while having this error. I am not finding that to be the case.
[edit3] windows 7 does not show any indication of a usb drive or anything plugged in as it used to before. This is obviously making it hard for me to try things like reinstalling drivers and whatnot.
thanks
It probably has nothing to do with the USB port...
Plug your phone into your computer, and then scroll the status bar down. You should see a notification "Connected as xx" Select that, then make sure connect as MTP is checked, if it's connected via ptp (camera) it won't allow you to sync files, for what reason so ever...
If that doesn't help, then reflash stock ROM, that usually helps.. With most problems anyway...
If both of these don't work, then I'm sorry, but I can't help you. I'd then call Samsung, and send it in...
LG Simon
Yea MTP was already checked on. USB debugging being on would have auto kicked in as well.
I flashed AOKP but still the same issues. The hardware might have gotten bonked - I hate how fragile these tiny little ports are!
Is there some kind of diagnostic I can run to see if it is truly a hardware issue?
It's the kernel, try another one
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Just swapped to Faux kernel... still persists.
I'm really starting to think its the hardware but crossing my fingers there's a fix.
the same thing is happening to me, it started yesterday too!
I am on AOKP b-23, Faux kernel....
plug in my usb, it can charge but absolutely nothing happens on the computer side, try it on number of computers too... but the phone is able to charge.
EDIT:
try this:

or this

Mine started doing this. Would charge‚ but sometime I couldn't transfer data or use adb. It seems that the USB didn't like to stay in my computer. Any little movement would unplug it just enough to keep it charging but nothing else.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
I've since tested the MHL cable and also tried using the usb host cable to connect a mouse and both work... does that mean my data connection theoretically could be fine?
I'm using AOKP #23 with Trinity and not had this issue at all. Whether it's because I combine the ROM, Gapps and kernel before flashing I don't know but my phone is running fine
im having this problem as well. does anyone have a solution?
So all you guys that are having problems have enabled MTP through Settings >Storage?

Had this same issue yesterday ( phone was 1 day old ) had it plugged into my windows 7 machine and all of sudden the machine couldnt see it. So I wiggled the cable sure enough the computer saw it, jiggled it again and it would lose connection to the PC. Tried this on several PCs with Several cables and same result everytime. If I held the cable connected to the phone at the right angle it would never lose connection.
Ran to Verizon and the numbskull behind counter tried telling me that is normal and I would just have live with it, almost punched him in the throat. Demaded he go get another phone and show me if that one does it. It didnt so he swapped it and was to hasty about it, ended up giving me another cable charger and headphones WOOT WOOT
new phone doesnt do it as of this writing
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427539 This is probably the issue you guys are experiencing. Seems like you should swap it in or try to fix it yourself by changing the USB charging board.

i used a samsung usb charger last night which i usually never do (i usually just charge it on the computer) and now this morning i have no data connection.
Hello,

And MTP now working .
Anyway there is an warning about fast charge - " Enabling this will disable access to phone storage" .

Just so y'all know...Fast Charge is simply tricking your phone into thinking it's plugged into an AC outlet...rather than a USB port.
Thus MTP won't work.
same issue here
I'm having the same issue here. Charging works fine with 2 computers and multiple USB cables (as well as AC and car charger adapters), but data transfer has completely stopped working. My computer won't see my phone at all. I have the correct drivers (given that I used them to connect to my computer when I first rooted and unlocked the bootloader). Tried changing the drivers, but I can't get my phone to show up in Device Manager at all. MTP and USB Debugging are enabled.
The only thing I can think of is that I dropped my phone while it was connected, and now the USB cable only charges the phone if I bend it in a certain way (it usually requires upward pressure where the cable plugs into the phone to work). However, other USB charging cables work just fine without any pressure. Is there any chance that a new OEM Samsung USB cable might solve my problem? The other cables I've used weren't OEM.
I normally use a wi-fi data transfer app because the USB data transfer has been slow since day one, so that can be worked around. What IS a major problem for me is that I'm trying to re-root my phone after my root access was lost with the 4.0.4 OTA update. I didn't keep up with the news and only realized last week that my root access had been lost because I tried to do things that required root. Since the OTA update trashed my CWM recovery image, I seem to have no way to re-root and reinstall CWM aside from going back to my computer and doing what I did the first time. But if I can't connect to my computer, I can't do that. It also seems that I would need computer access to remove root in case I bring it back to Verizon for a replacement under warranty.
So on another note, if you guys know of a way to re-root my phone without connecting it to my PC, I'm all ears...

I have run into a lot of USB defects on the phones I have received. It might be wise to get Samsung to repair it, but you will be without a phone for a week. You could also try another cable.
I used to have similar issues except where the power got routed into the data port, frying my phone in multiple areas.
On Samsung's repair ticket they said REPLACED COMPONENT (I'm assuming this is the usb controller and port) this could be the solution but it requires sending it in.
Just came back from holiday so I've got some pictures to store on my computer, but I can't get my phone to connect to it. It charges fine when connected which is also bemusing, since it can't do anything else. It's definitely not my computer's problem as I've tried other computers to no avail. I've been looking around the internet but none of the solutions worked for me.
My Nexus is rooted with stock ROM on 4.2.1 Jelly Bean and hasn't had many other problems in it's lifetime, although sometimes when I go into the Gallery app it will tell me "No external storage available" and I cannot use it until I restart the phone, where the problem diminishes and reappears after a few days. I was wondering if these problems were linked in any way perhaps?
Thanks for any input guys, would really appreciate it

That cannot be the issue. I did not have USB debugging enabled but I was still able to transfer the files. But, you can try re-installing the Google USB Driver or Samsung Driver for I9250 or was it I515?
Cheers
Check on computer that device is showing in devices and has correct drivers installed. If not samsung official manuals and downloads website (google it) has a driver pack (approx 30mb) which when installed should have every samsung driver you could need, download and run then reboot computer and plug in phone, all drivers needed should now install correctly.
Also check in usb options when first connected that mtp is checked so storage is visible to computer. Best of luck and if all else fails pc out of window sounds like fun
P.S. try flashing latest gapps to fix gallery issue, after dalvik and cache wipe, may solve gallery issue...

I have a tmo samsung galaxy note 2, that i purchased in December. I have not rooted the phone, thus stock ROM and all. The phone is up to date with the latest updates from tmobile. just two days ago, i tried to pass some photos from my phone to the PC via USB Cable. i connect the phone to my pc and it only goes to charge the phone, no connection notifications on neither the phone side nor the PC (Windows 7 home premium 64-bit). so i went to samsung for support, and got the run around of re-install the USB drivers, re-install Kies software, etc. after the un-installs i reset the PC, and after the re-installs, i reset the PC but nothing changed. also i soft reset the phone (turn it off, take out battery for 30 seconds, then turn it on), and still nothing. i have tried all different USB ports on my PC, have used different USB cables (my brother also has the GN2 so i tried with his USB cable). tried again on my mom's laptop, brother's PC, and i get no response at all from the PC's nor my GN2. could something inside have become damaged, i mean i take care of it like it was a baby, but maybe...???
on a side note, i used windows media player to transfer music the last time i was able to transfer, but the playlists showed up in both ext and int storage, so i deleted the int storage playlist files. could there be a problem stemming from WMPInfo.xml in the both the int/ext storage card?
if i'm missing any info to help with the problem, just ask. i'd like to get this resolved asap, since transferring over Kies Air is a hassle and sometimes doesn't respond properly, since i use my phone as my main camera and like to back up all my pics/vids on to an ext HDD.
After you plug the usb in to the phone and pc are you putting the phone in storage card mode? The phone will ask you.
it doesn't ask anything. the phone isnt recognizing that its been connected to a PC. it only goes to charge the phone, nothing else happens... :/
Bad usb port, try a different one, also another basic USB fix (with other devices) is to actually unplug the CPU/laptop from its power source for like 5 minutes... have you factory reset your phone? After re reading, if it's not ports, drivers, or bad flashing, and assuming you have made sure all your files are in order (mention of removing double files?), then Id say it's some sort of internal configuration with the settings of your cpu to your particular phone. Either some program is taking over how your cpu reads the device when plugged in, therefore causing your phone to behave the way it is, or usb ports need some inspecting. I wonder if its just MTP that is "under control" (maybe qualcomm usb "troubleshooting" could confirm this, of course Odin could too, perhaps)

i thought at first it was Kaspersky Internet Security, but if that had been the case, it would've blocked my phone from connecting from day one. could it have something to do with the ext storage card (going out on a limb here)? i ahve contacted tmobile directly, to see what they say, but i'm trying everything, even have disabled my KIS, restarted my PC and still nothing. i'll try the troubleshooting your talking about. hopefully that sets everything straight. the wierdest part is that now Kies Air is picking up my phone and all, it just isnt working over USB cable ...
also, i haven't factory reset my phone. saving that as a last resort option if all else fails. quick note, this problem seems to have presented itself after the latest Kies update. but wouldn't explain why its not responding after re-install.

Guys, I hope the following helps you.
When you plug the Note to the PC USB cable-computer, you will see the USB icon on notification bar as charging.
Pull down the notification bar with your finger and tap on the charging USB notification.
Change the setting to the Camera and then unplug the phone from USB and plug it back again.
That should work. Look in the computer for devises and you will see the camera icon on your PC and also your C drive
and other devices.
Click it and the card/phone storage part will show up.
If it does not, re start PC and plug un plug the cable.
Work for me every time.
I too run Windows 8 Pro and that is how I do it.

the problem is that the USB icon never appears on the notification bar, nor is it anywhere to be found when i pull down the notification bar. something is interfering with the phone recognizing connection to a PC's USB port...I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium x64
still haven't figured out what the problem might be. definitely going to T-Mobile store tomorrow...
Did you try another cable? Another PC?
If your brothers phone plugs in and is read perfectly fine on your PC then it's something with your phone... probably fixable with a reflash of stock.
It seems to me that your device is having an issue with MTP connectiviry (as your phones USB still charges when plugged in) and like I said, if you download the proper Qualcomm drivers for the GNII onto your pc, and use your phones dialer to adjust qualcomm usb settings (for example let's say) to enable QPST connectivity, then you could confirm its just MTP that is malfunctioning... if it's just MTP then as a troubleshooting guide, you could start disabling/reset settings to default/reinstalling apps on your phone or programs on your pc that are directly related to your phone being connected to your PC through USB (Kies, Windows Media, any other 3rd party apps or programs you may use, etc)
Eventually when disabling one of these apps you should get MTP working again (and at least then you have found the culprit-rogue app/program)
If it's not the PC (ie you still can't get connection to work when plugging into a different PC, and have troubleshot all your phones apps) then might be time to file a warranty claim

i thought at first it was Kaspersky Internet Security, but if that had been the case, it would've blocked my phone from connecting from day one. could it have something to do with the ext storage card (going out on a limb here)? i ahve contacted tmobile directly, to see what they say, but i'm trying everything, even have disabled my KIS, restarted my PC and still nothing. i'll try the troubleshooting your talking about. hopefully that sets everything straight. the wierdest part is that now Kies Air is picking up my phone and all, it just isnt working over USB cable ...

And to answer your question, yes... As a "basic" troubleshooting option, one should always try to use different SD cards in their phone to see if there is any difference!! Considering your brother has a GNII, I'd say not only do you have all the resources needed to find any problem any your phone ever has, but the resources are there to fix them as well

If it's not the PC (ie you still can't get connection to work when plugging into a different PC, and have troubleshot all your phones apps) then might be time to file a warranty claim

i will definitely take this advice and try it out in the morning. hopefully this helps. otherwise its off to the T-Mobile store.
on a side note, i read recently somewhere that the issue i'm having may be presented while using a USB 3.0 port. Even though i do not have a USB 3.0 port, i recently purchased an external HDD which runs on USB 3.0/2.0 (compatible). could it be possible that such a configuration might have caused the issue (again going out on a far reaching limb)...??

Maybe if your hdd tried to auto load something onto your phone upon plug in... considering your stock, I don't see how this issue is even happening... outside of some app/program settings or some type of "hung" connection, the basic steps you have already covered with drivers/ports etc, should have nixed the problem

okay, so weirdest thing ever. I took my phone into T-Mobile store, where they connected it to their PC and boom, it picked up without a hitch. So they gave me a new wire, and when i got home the problem was solved. the GN2 is now back in order, responding as it should. thank you everyone for your input.

Thanks a lot. In my case it is not the cable and I'm still lost here. Not really sure what could be. I plugged in another GN2 using the same cable and the pc sees it.
Hopefully someone out there could advise me.
Thanks again.

I have having the same issue with a Galaxy Note II Verzion SCH-i605v and its pissing me off LOL. The computer picked it up at one point as gadget serial and installed the Samsung drivers but after that it the computer will not pick up the phone. The phone won't even be picked up on my roommates laptop. I am like please tell me what too do here?!?
also I can get the computer to pick it up in Odin mode which is so flipping werid lol any suggestions would be greatly as I would love to use this phone. I am currently using it with a cricket sim card. only getting 3G and HSPA+ at times. NO LTE or 4G. I'm trying to fix that problem but can't try unless the computer will pick up the phone.
About 2 weeks ago my phone started having issues with the microSD card. I was plugging it into my computer off and on trying to get the card to read. Then one time the computer just stopped recognizing the phone. Since then I haven't been able to get any computer to recognize my phone. I plug it in and no MTP / PTP options show up, nothing in the system tray to indicate I have attached a new USB device. It just charges the phone.
Phone info:
Samsung SGH-i747m
Android version 4.2.2
Baseband version I747MUMLL1
Kernel Version 3.4.37-cyanogenmod-g7b457dc
What I've tried:
Uninstalled and reinstalled drivers
Every USB port on the box
Factory data reset--both from the setup menu, and the diagnostic bootup menu
USB debugging mode, both on and off.
Changing the UART and USB settings in the *#7284# PhoneUtil. After my last factory reset, it's set to PDA/MTP+ADB.
3 different computers, one Win 7 64 bit, one, one Win 7 32 bit, one Win XP SP3
about 5 different USB cords
I tried a touchwhiz rom CSROM
Cleaning the USB connector with a pin / air can
Changed the Kernal
Anything else I should try? Is there a way to determine if the USB plug on the phone is bad?

What ROM are you using? Not stock obviously running 4.2.2
Make sure fast charge isn't selected. You can't use USB with fast charge enabled. There is either quick tile setting for it (aokp) or under performance settings or in ktweaker.

Is your USB port open? Example: at my office desk, USB only charges but does not allow devices to connect.

Thanks for the reply. I've tried about 5 different roms, some touchwiz some not. Haven't gone back to stock yet though.
However I went back to a AOKP rom, Tasks650. Haven't been able to find the usb charge toggle button yet but I may have a kernal not compatible with it. However when I plug the phone into my computer and look at the Battery is says I'm on AC charge so that is likely a good place to start looking for a solution.
Thanks again.

If plugged into USB it says ac charge than fast charge is enabled. That's what it does. Goto setting and find the sub menu for the quick setting tiles. There will be one for fast charge. You select it, drag down your quick tiles and you can select and deselect it.

Faulty cord. Go on amazon or order another one. I use a heavy duty one from mediabridge for $5 and it does data and charging. Many times over the years I get an OEM micro usb cord that charges all 3 different galaxy S models I have then after use it will work on 2 and then only one. Sometimes it will just charge and not work with data transfer.
I highly doubt it's your phone.
I saw you tried different cords but were they new ? A picky microUSB or one that's more worn out might only work with a certain cord.
You can replace the microUSB port and it's cheap and I assume there a video on youtube for it but off course it's up to you.

Downloaded a new version of Task650 and enabled fast charge, reset the phone and then disabled it and reset the phone again. Same issue. PC does not recognize the phone but it charges. Check battery and says its on 'AC' charge. I wonder if somehow the two middle pins on the phone got shorted out so it permanently thinks its on AC charge?

Yeah, I just got 10 new microUSB cords to the house. They are cheap ones. However I tried a few other ones I have around the house. I don't know if any of them are the original Samsung cords but I certainly have original HTC microUSB cords. I've probably tried about 14 different ones in total now. I don't think its the cord.
I am in the same boat , my phone works perfect on Win 7 but not on Win XP.
I use airdroid or mmc adapter only if needed.
I did try a web link to fix the mtp issue ( before my xp pc was refomated ) and have had the phone recognized as a USB drive , can't find the link anymore. It has something to do with windows media player .
If I find something , I will report back.

Warranty exchange ? If it is the port.... It won't get better. I'd exchange or try a swap

On your windows XP device, download the newest version of Windows Media player. That always got it working for me.
I have this same issue now. Is WMP update really the issue here?

I've been having the exact same problem with my Note II - couldn't get my PC to recognise the SD card but it would charge.
However, then it stopped charging my phone, too. I naturally assumed it was the USB port or the lead, but having tried four different leads - all tested on my wife's SII and all working fine - I realised it was something else.
So I swapped in the spare battery I have and that did charge; swapped back to the old battery and that charged, too.
Weird...but OK, phone is working again.
Next day, no charging again.
Swapped batteries - no change.
Swapped batteries back - no change.
Reflashed ParanoidAndroid ROM - no change.
Flashed Samsung base ROM - no change.
Flashed ParanoidAndroid again - batteries start to charge on USB and on wall charger.
WTF????
Two days later (yesterday) - batteries no longer charge. I'm having to use an external battery charger that plugs into the walls (take the battery out of the phone, plug into the charger, leave to charge).
I've tried different kernels (Devil, NEAK), leads, batteries - nothing.
It's just goddamn weird - and a real pain. :crying:
Sounds like I would start with warranty for the batteries. Stranger things have happened because of batteries. On the inspire, when a battery would start going bad the phone would reboot when trying to take a photo with the flash on.

I Managed to fix the "Usb not detecting with PC when you connect it but only charges the phone. With me it was a software problem because it happened after i installed the new firmware. what i did was root my phone using Framaroot 1.4. its a apk application, then i installed Titanium Backup. went into titanium backup then to the MTP application and backed it up. then i restored it +all date,. plugged my phone in with the pc and it worked.
Mine turned out to be a software problem, too. I moved to the Beanstalk ROM and that fixed it, weirdly.
I've changed ROMs since (PACMan and SlimBean) and everything's still fine...
Try This

By default my phone was already set to the right settings for USB file transfers so I’ll assume most of these ship with the same configuration, Somehow it changed. I found this on a forum - it seems a few other folks declared it a success.
1.Launch the phone key pad on your note and press *#7284# (don’t forget to start with that * symbol!)
2.When you press the last pound sign (#) this will bring up an option that will allow you to change your USB connection settings (modem or PDA) – change it to PDA.
3.At the bottom there is a button that says Qualcomm USB. Click on it.
4.In that menu click on MTP + ADB option.
5.Save and reset.
6.Wait for your phone to restart.
7.Plug the micro USB cable to the Note 2 and the the other end to your PC or Mac
8.Let your computer down load and install drivers.
9.Once installing is done, unplug then replug phone.
10.There should be a USB symbol on your phone in the status bar - click on it. It should ask if you wsnd to use mtp or ptp. Click MTP
11.At this point your PC should open the phone’s folders in explorer.
12.You may have to repeat this process a few times....it worked for me after 4 tries.
Remember, you do not need to use Kies or root your phone for this to work and you should not have to fiddle with manually installing and downloading drivers in Windows 8, it should work no problem as is.
Good luck!
