[Q] Best Way to Root an ATT GS3 - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

I searching for the best root method, for an ATT Galaxy S3. The toolkit does not work on the latest update. And who wants to screw around with ADB. Is there another method similar to SuperOneClick that will root and install CWM and superuser at the same time.
CRzy

Toolkit is the easiest way. If not working try Odin. And if you search a little there is plenty of thread about this subject...

Ok
I tried the toolkit, but apparently it doesn't work with the latest update. I have also tried to download a root injected rom. That didnt work either.

Thank You
I am giving it up, and taking it to ATT. Worst case scenario, is I will just have to get a new phone. Could be worse, at least I am eleigible for an upgrade. Thanks everyone for your help

How getting a new phone will help you? You just need to go back before the last update

Idiot proof, up-to-date rooting tut for completely stock phone?

Like the title says, I need a completely idiot proof rooting method that's up-to-date. The methods I've tried have not worked and I was forced to factory reset twice to return to normal.

Need help removing Custom Rom, Odin and Cwm Recovery no go's

Alright, I'm hoping I can get some quick useful feedback on this. Posting this here in the Hercules Forum because of device similarities. I'm currently on AOKP Official Milestone 6, and every time I reboot it reverts me settings I had on August 28th. I've been going thru this all day long, Google searching, scanning forums for my device and the T989.
I've attempted Odin flashes 13 times today to go back to Stock Gb and Stock Ics, the flashes show successful, yet AOKP boots right back up. Recovery does nothing to wipe, currently on Clockworkmod Touch Recovery.
Formatting all caches and partitions, Dalvik wipes all 5x each do nothing, even flashing something after this does nothing. I can't even reset AOKP, it takes me right back to the same condition from August 28th, same theme, apps, etc, all there. I've even formatted both emmc and sdcard, nothing. Whatever I do gets overwritten to the previous condition.
Can someone please help me out with this. I'm not even sure what to classify an issue like this as.

Another no go. Vincom over in the Skyrocket forums schooled me on what's going on. Its a failure to write to the nand. He was trying to help another guy out with the same situation, and nothing worked for him either. I'm on my second Skyrocket, my luck with 3's hasn't ever been so good. I'm within my 30 days still, if I can brick it, I may be able to get a new phone.
Thanks for all your help tho man, really appreciate it

Damn that sucks bro and I tried sorry couldn't help ya and yeah brick that sucker n send it in ha

I am having the same issue right now with my t989. How did you end up bricking your phone in order to send it in for a new one? I have tried just about everything to brick mine but have had no luck because nothing will install properly.
Open ROM manager and flash a recovery not for a galaxy and you'll brick it

[Q]I may have soft-bricked my phone?

I tried to backup my data apps by following this Samsung galaxy S3 SnapDragon toolkit. But I was stupid enough to not read the Warning about it doesn't work with Jelly Bean 4.1.1 and how unfortunate I do have Jelly Bean 4.1.1 on my phone. So now my phone reboot constantly with Samsung logo and a black screen with LED lighted up.
I can boot into recovery mode. I did try your typical Wipe process but the phone is still reboot in the same result as mentioned. I am planning on trying to recovery it with Odin. So anyone have advices on what happened and is it even possible to fix it?

Backtrack 5 on Android

Im trying to boot backtrack 5 on my i747. I got all the files on by when I type "sh bootbt" I get an error. I took a screen shot and ill post it on here as well. Also, what things on it will work? Will any cracking stuff work or am I wasting my time?

Do you have VNC viewer app installed?

And unless things have changed since last time I've tried, you won't be able to use your WiFi in monitor mode. So backtrack will be pretty much useless but everything else works.

This app will guide you through the installation of backtrack on your phone.

But remember this is more an emulation than an installation.

Yea. If you want it for wifi cracking it's not gonna do anything since our modems can't use promiscuous mode. Check out the xda thread on the app posted above you. The dev will get you up and running it's pretty easy to get up

Yes, I do have VNC.
And thank you guys. Im looking into the app right now. And yea, I did see something about that you must have WiFi. Idc. Im just doing it for the experience and enjoyment.

Software number? !

Just got my phone back from sonic and had him put it back to stock... software number 1.10.605.8... Which root, unlock, s off method do I need to use?! Htcdev or rumrunner?! Thanks in advance

If Sonic did his java card magic, you are s-off. Search this forum using the exact words from your question and those exact threads regarding root, OTA updates and how to unlock without HTCdev. Great threads and easy!

I started with a 100% stock phone direct from Verizon. It had the 1.10.605.8 on it. Before I planed to use rumrunner I let it do the system update to 1.10.605.10 and so that is the version of rumrunner I downloaded and used. The post above mine has the links that I used.
