Best File Manager? - Nexus 7 Themes and Apps

I've been using FX File Explorer for a while and really like it. Developer just made several features a paid key; and root another paid key. Not sure if I want to buy unless I've ruled others out.
I just tried ES, and find the font way to small to read. Same problem with a couple others. Are there any good ones with adjustable font?

I just use androzip or root explorer.

Root explorer is great worth every cent! Its a must have.

Solid explorer by a mile. Anyone saying otherwise hasn't tried it yet.

I'm using Solid Explorer as well and can only recommend it.
It's still in beta though...
Besides Solid Explorer I use File Explorer when the former is buggy.

Own Root Explorer but mainly use Solid Explorer.

Root explorer. Always used it

Hopefully solid explorer get some root support sometime in the future, the only thing keeping me from using it.

Well, since it's listed on their market Page as a feature, I guess it will before its released out of beta.

I was using File Expert "Dream Bubble Theme", but latest update seemed to ruin FE. Don't like how you can't sort by descending date.
Probably going to buy FX, it has the best ui of any suggested here (imo). Astro isn't too bad.

Solid explorer has complete root support for both system and data. It has for a while.

Another vote for Root Explorer, here. Worth every cent, and an absolute must-have

I'm not rooted, is Root Explorer OK for that? Tried "Solid", didn't like it as well as FX or Astro. Astro says it has themes, where are they? Do you have to buy it to see themes?

Don't know anything about astro, but the non-root version of root explorer is just called Explorer (by Speed Software), and it's free

Root Explorer, hands down.

Root explorer, but solid is growing on me.

Used to use ES File Explorer but found it was a little slow in picking up LAN, Net and Dropbox accounts.
So, I shifted to Solid Explorer and have not looked back since.
I can now log on to any of my WiFi PC's/Laptops or Cloud accounts practically instantaneously and love the two pane windows.
Plus it looks much better than an outdated ESFX.

Solid explorer is the best

ICS scrolling speed/weight fix?

After playing around with ICS ROMs, I finally settled on AOKP. I'm liking the look so far, but I can't stand the way scrolling works. It was so much faster and smoother in gingerbread, is there any way to get that scrolling back? Right now it feels like I'm dragging a brick along with me when I scroll.
Sent from my Incredible 2 using XDA
I had the same feeling initially. After using it for several days I got used to it - I feel like your fingers adapt to the new scrolling algorithm. Gingerbread was often hyper-sensitive in terms of scroll-touch response. You can definitely get fast, smooth scrolling in ICS, you just gotta give your fingers time to get used to it.
I haven't run aokp or cm9 in over a week because at the moment I need everything working at 110% but when I did I had no problems with aero's v9 kernal and a lil overclock

On CM9 it feels the same to me as well.

Not that I've seen. You really do get used to it though, I don't notice it at all any more.

You get used it, especially if you have flashed the very first versions. It has progressively better, but things won't work 100% until ICS is released.

Do you have all the root options checked in ES? Windows explorer wouldn't work, and make sure you aren't looking in /sdcard.

But seriously, I did set it =8000 and it seems to scroll a bit quicker for me in my simple contact list testing. AOKP R37.

You need to make sure that you have the latest busy box installed. For me, root didn't work properly until I did that. It really is a great file explorer for the nexus, being that our screen is large and I love the drag and drop.
God bless

I can't get root access files with this file manager so its fairly useless but it looks pretty I guess just not practical, went back to root explorer an es file explorer an yes I have latest busybox as most root apps need it :screwy:
Best looking file explorer app, but depending on the ROM I'm running I can't get root access because the ROM is using a custom busybox. This is the only app I ever have this issue with unfortunately.

Root access works for me now, click jump tab at bottom of app screen, then device then system root, then try open a folder in root location an the app should ask for root permission from super su or superuser

Yep, I know how to get the SU dialog to pop up, but another message saying Busybox needed to be updated would always come up as well, depending on the ROM I was on at the time. Just letting others know.

Thanks. I'll give it another try.
Edit: Yeh, this thing is the shizz. If I don't run into any root issues I think I'll keep it.
Edit 2: Spoke too soon. It FC'd while doing a moderately large move of about 90 small files. Sure is pretty but I need something I can depend on. Back to homely old Total Commander...
Thanks for the heads up, its the best file browser I've used to date.

Im glad you enjoy it. I use this an root explorer at the same time to easy up my transition. Maybe that's why i haven't seen certain things. For root stuff, i use root explorer and for basic stuff, i Use Solid. Gotta say that the UI is incredibly nice. but remember guys and gals, its still in beta form. hit the dev and "telem!"

Hi all new M8 user!!!

Hi I recently switched from a iPhone 5s and I'm kind of lost I still trying to get used to the ui but I have a few questions. I have a AT&T branded m8 I'm going to root soon aside from that. I'm having trouble keeping finding a video player. As well as my downloaded files.
Is there a file navigation app I need?
Also my battery life is not very good any tips?
0
And lastly what are must have apps for this phone? I really don't have much in here yet although the transition is a little cumbersome I'm in love with everything about this m8
Thanks in advanced guys!
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
Movie player - try mx player
Navigation - Google Maps is built in, but this requires data connection. You could try Copilot or TomTom
Battery life - go into settings and click on battery - this will show what is eating the power. (Screen is a big user - set timeout to minimum)
Other than that look at those apps you enjoyed on your previous 'toy' phone. There should be a similar type app or one by the same company in the App store.
Enjoy having a proper phone.
Sorry I wasn't clear I meant file locator I download a few videos and can't find how to navigate to the folder they are in

Try Solid Explorer https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.solidexplorer
FX File Explorer https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.fx&hl=fr
or ES Explorer https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop
See which one you like better :good:
There're more on the playstore but these are the best in my opinion.
