Don't forget "Root Explorer" which can be found in the playstore:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.speedsoftware.rootexplorer
To me that's even more important than Titanium Backup.
Good luck!

I've had that app since the G1 days lol.

How to remove bloatware from Galaxy S II?

I have the t-mobile galaxy S ii and I wanted to know if there was a way to delete some of the stock apps and if there is could someone tell me how or link me to a tutorial how to? Thanks
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
You need to be rooted. Then download titanium backup, free version will do, and use that to delete bloat. Be careful what you delete though..

^ what he said except I'd go with titanium pro so you can just freeze em oppose to straight deleting them... That way there's no chance on deleting something you actually needed

I dont use 99% of these apps. At the same time i dont know what is safe / not safe to remove.

Try the GS3 R6 ROM. I think you'll like it.
I just got the sg3 today after having the nexus one last couple years and xda nexus one forum. Loved the n1 but just time to upgrade. I have a lot to learn about the sg3. How do you root the easiest way? Also best idea for long battery life. Any other info I need. Thank you and glad to be here.

Welcome to the S3 family
Easiest way to root?
Download the T-Mobile image from this thread and extract the .tar file
Flash with ODIN.
Or you can choose a different method, but you will have to ODIN custom recovery onto the phone first.
Go to this thread for guides on rooting/flashing, etc.
As for the battery, read this article about battery conditioning.

Well for starters you can look at whats been removed from the debloated rom and debloat yours to match.
Additionally, you can just search these forums as there will likely be multiple threads about whats safe to remove.
Additionally+, you can buy Titanium Backup and freeze the apps one by one. If they dont cause problems when frozen they are safe to remove.

Hey Mike,
I would recommend installing a custom recovery, I highly recommend Clockwork mod. Make a backup of your system to be safe, so that you can always restore if needed. Next use a file manager with root permissions, I HIGHLY recommend Root Explorer. Create a folder on your sd card called backup_bloat (or anything really). Go to your app drawer and start jotting down the bloat. I'd recommend getting rid of all the TMobile stuff, as well as most of the samsung apps. Once you have a good idea of what to get rid of, go into your system -> apps folder and look for the same icons. Instead of just deleting the files, use the multi-select option in root explorer to select all the ones you want to get rid of. Once done, move them into the backup_bloat folder. Reboot. Test your device out thoroughly for a day or two. If it works great, you can get rid of the backup_bloat folder. Any errors, and you may have removed something needed by the phone. This is my standard debloat process, and it works well for me without having to install any custom roms.
Hope this helps!

Uhhh that's illegal and not allowed on xda. Better change it before a mod catches it

Well I was hoping there was a free legal way to get it.... like taking a offer or a survey. Kinda like how akinator lite offer akinator pro to people who like their Facebook page or tell a certain amount of people about the app.... free doesn't always mean steal. Remember that

Did you leave the box checked that said sync with Google (OE something like that on the first boot)
And as far as tb goes give app to zip a try. Its a great app, and there is a free version that will do all you need. And the pro version is less than three dollars

LOL I love starting my morning with a good chuckle
I guess that it only working when an official ROM is installed. I tried more than 4 custom ROMs and all cannot get my apps back

Saving my apps to an sd card works for me. I also tend to modify roms via the android kitchen and while at it, place a few apps I need accessible prior to flashing (root explorer, etc).
Well, I've noticed that they don't restore all the time unless you use the same ROM. But even a stock rim misses the occasional app. Titanium Backup works great for me.

Remove your Google account, and just add it back for auto restore to work again.

Just a kick because if your apps don't start to auto restore and you want them to, simply go to Settings, Remove your Google account, and just add it back. Worked for me.

Root explorer or ES file explorer and delete apps you don't want in /system/ app

Mind you, for system apps you will need root access.
Titanium backup and root paid version just freeze them.

What bloatware do you think is in your Nexus 7 anyway? Just disable them using the built-in mechanism, no need to remove anything.
Yea I've compiled aroma installers just for removing bloatware but this is usually carrier related garbage or touchwiz/motoblur/sense stuff. None of that exists here so I wouldn't even spend the time creating that. I don't think there is any bloatware here just maybe "unwanted" apps. which once rooted can be easily removed or just frozen/disabled.
where are bloatwares in a stock jellybean rom?simply deactivate what you don't want\like..no need to cancel..for example a rom like bamf has built-in the tool to deactivate system\apps.very usefull for a person in yours position..
As a matter of interest what apps/files can be frozen via titanium? Anyone got a list of which are safe to remove?

I'm interested in this too. My device isn't yet rooted. You can force stop apps from settings but I believe they start up again at reboot which is annoying. Maybe time to root my device!

NO! There is a Disable button on the same screen with the Force Close that disables apps since ICS.

Yes and yes. Also what he said. Reading is key and this is a touchy phone so if u do boo boo with out reading u will be getting a refurbished one
TWEAKED 2.0 ELEMENT V3.0 NOTE 3
The key here, is Root de la Vega, and unlocked bootloader/improved Wanam. You can use all the root apps that don't have to be flashed, no open Recovery, and there are scripts available,as well as common sense, what is safe/you don't want, to freeze with Titanium, fix UI safely with WANAM, and themes galore with different launchers(I prefer Apex, and you have a minimum 24 hour mid/heavy use battery, that looks and acts like YOU want.....til you change your mind)
