Yup yup and yup. I agree, $350 per line. Sorry man! I just bounced on them. They failed to provide the service I needed and they didn't. Wouldn't budge with letting me out...so I bounced on them and had them eat the money. On my credit report, I wrote off "Not my debt"= Clear off my rec.

Did it for a month or two without Sprint batting an eye. It would take months for Sprint to notice, all the while your phone depreciates further. Either bite the bullet and pay the fine, or reneg and hope you can have the collection erased from your credit report. How anyone can have that erased by saying 'not my debt' is a complete mystery and should not be heeded as sound advice.

Three options:
1) Pay the ETF
2) Just live with it and leave at the end of the contract
3) After choosing #1 or #2, never sign a contract again

The fee is to cover the cost of the phone. Pay the ETF, sell the phone and get a GSM one.

So there was no guarantee of service speed or anything of the sort in your contract. When you signed a contract, there is no clause that if they don't provide a certain service to you that you're entitled to leave the contract. You either have to pay to leave, or continue to pay out your remaining months of service, those are your only legal options.

Just roam on Verizon a lot. Flash a modded prl. You'll get fast speeds for a few months then Sprint will terminate you.
Worked for me

I know what you mean by the data speeds. Currently I'm blazing at a whopping 22kbps! I keep calling about this and then sometimes after, the speeds jumped to 2Mbps then back down to nearly unusable speeds. You can't connect to the Play Store at speeds this low. It just errors out saying that the connection timed out.

You're fooling yourself if you think it won't end up on your credit report. All you did was dispute it. The CRA will verify the debt is yours with Sprint and it will be on your report until you prove that it is not your debt or you settle with Sprint (or several years from the date you left Sprint when it falls off automatically). And no, saying 'not my debt' does not prove that it is not yours.

Hey OP, have you tried playing with PRL's and Radios? On my E4GT I was able to get up to 2MB/s(?) down and 1up. U sually averaged around 1.5MB but it was nice being able to stream HQ videos and music. On my Gnex I get about half of that but my upload is way high an dI have yet to play with PRl's or radios. It's just a thought but it's worth trying.

Congratulations on them not verifying the debt. I wouldn't count on them always siding with someone just saying "it's not mine" when common sense says Sprint has every right to try to recoup the money per the contract all users agree to. I didn't remember Sprints ETF being $350 three years ago. I'm pretty sure it was on $200 back then when I was with them.
Didn't you have an Evo3D when I did (like less than a year ago)?

Flash a roaming prl and download as much data as possible.
I believe that they let you out if you move to an area that they don't cover. Use their coverage map to find some areas they don't cover. Call them and tell them your job is transferring you to Billings Montana or something and you want to check coverage at a couple addresses you are looking at (check realtor.com to get a few addresses). Make sure you already know there is no coverage based off of coverage map. When they tell you no coverage ask them how they handle it if there is no coverage. Chances are you get out right there. Especially if you've already been roaming a lot.

Wait...I wouldn't invest in anything 4G right now even thought the E4GT is a beast. I would rather have something that will get me on Sprints newest network that is LTE!
I do not know why anyone would buy a 4G phone right now or even sign up with Sprint at this time. The only way I would is if Sprint allowed anyone in doing so a 2 year upgrade price to an LTE phone when released and I do not see them doing that.

I dont now, but if sprint does in fact get rid of wimax, and our phones are no longer capable of 4g, then they have to drop the premium data add-on, and that would be a change in contract, then they would have to allow you to terminate contract free of charge, then sign up again and get the nexus, or other lte phone for upgrade price....but I would be willing to bet that you could get an upgrade discount before you would have to terminate.

Well, it still does not look very promising for LS: http://www.pcworld.com/article/249082/sprint_gives_lightsquared_six_more_weeks_for_fcc_approval.html
There is another article that indicates that Sprint basically 'forgave' LS deadlines, likely because LS's issue is more relevant to the FCC than to LS itself. Until they get the approval they need from the FCC there won't be LTE for sprint users.
Screw the GNex. I love the phone, but, I'm an absurdist at heart....I'm going to wait for the Galaxy Note. I love my ET4G, but, I'd love it to be absurdly large and perhaps a little faster.
4G? Who cares, I barely find a signal now and even if it was LTE I'd barely get a signal for another year or two...
Get what you want, write off Sprint 4G for another year or two...unless you are in one of their pet markets and it means that much to you.

Interesting... I didn't know that. My mom has the LG Optimus and my sister has the Samsung Transform and neither of them have the $10 fee. Are those phones not considered smart phones then?
They're included, my brother has the optimus and we had to add the premium data to our account. If they had their phones activated before they did it for all smart phones they will be an exception to the fee.

Yea alot my friends want to xfer to boost for their low price plans but wanted a awesome phone. Now with the et4 in the future if roam is not a big deal for a persons cell usage and sprint coverage is good for their needs this is a no brainer.
Heck i pay half for unlimited everything compaired to what i was paying with sprint, not having roaming is no big deal for my cell usage so that is ok.
This kind of makes me sick to my stomach.
This is my first smartphone ever, purchased only months ago.
My 30 day return ended only a few days before the release date of the galaxy s3. Sprint saw me coming.

Unless you are going to get LTE in your market I can see staying or need LTE speed.

I honestly think Sprint will be involved. They're building out their network but there's no way they can get a nation covered by 2013. They will likely partner with Sprint with their lte network for its coverage until they get a hold of things. Reason being, they want to compete against Verizon and At&t, and T-Mobile has the speeds they need, but not exactly the coverage. When sprint finishes their network vision, it'll be on par with Verizon in terms of speeds and coverage.

Agree with you on that one. I actually think it might be better as Sprint is upgrading every tower in their network with a few exceptions. I'm also excited Sprint just bought some people and spectrum from US Cellular in the Chicago market. In two years, Sprint will have THE best network in Chicago, and I'm happy about that.

They will probably be very tempting when it comes to their entry level pricing. Google likes to recruit a lot of customers by promotions that they lose money on, then make the money from elsewhere. (Ie: Google Play Market. If they sell only Android phones, more android apps will be bought from the market.)

The article says the Google network will be data-only, no call minutes or SMS/MMS. That stuff would be handled as VoIP, most likely through Google Voice.
So, I'm guessing it would be $20-40/month for unlimited data. Any sort of cap obviously wouldn't work for a data-only network.

Dish Network owns AWS-4 spectrum at 2000Mhz/2200Mhz spectrum. This frequency covers slightly less customers with slightly less building penetration. The best way to think of it is between Sprint's 3G and Wimax coverage.
If they decide to go with Sprint in the meantime, they'll probably be forced to have a cap on data until they get their own network on the ground. Google will definitely have a strong presence in the U.S. cellular market.

Just bc they didnt want to give em more money, its been over a year and they still have yet to come to a resolution. If google goes through with this I seriously doubt they'd use any CDMA carrier for any kind of backbone.
Every nexus device they've released has always been on GSM networks first and I don't even think the Nexus 4 will hit Sprint or Verizon.
Google loves the sim cards.

Google's looking at data only network, which means it'll need fast speeds to support voice over IP. LTE is a gsm based technology and Sprint is Google's best carrier friend (Google Voice, Google Play bill to account features, etc.)

agreed. they can try to entice new victims to join them all they want but i dont see them lifting a finger to keep them. once they get a whiff of their horrible data speeds they are going to want out. hopefully it happens soon enough for them to get out of the contract.
they can cry "network vision" all they want. fact of the matter is that they should of been had a solid 3g network in preparation for the icrap, but they fell way short of that
I love Sprint, but $25 a joke, can't do better than that? I get $50 just for referring someone to CREDO, and they lease Sprint's network. Weird attempt to draw in customers.

In my area (Washington DC) sprints network is almost non existent. It's so bad it is literally unusable. wimax is ok but constantly drops out if you are moving. This just has to do with the origins of wimax I think.
I've tried T-Mobile and Verizon. T-Mobile ironically had both the most consistent coverage and fastest speeds, even faster in real world use than Verizon.

Sprint kicked me out...

Got kicked out yesterday. Sprint saw all my Roaming (PRL 1) and it also helped me the fact that there are a lot of coverage issues in the El Paso area because they are ¨upgrading¨ their antennas. In order for Sprint to waive the ETF their service has to be at less than 93% for 3 consecutive months in your area. In El Paso it is right now at 80 and it will be like that until october (3 months).
I have one rooted LGOG running Lifeless. Its brand new, I've only had it for a month (Sprint replaced my old one because my computer couldn't recognize it) and also have two Galaxy Nexus (one rooted running CM and the other stock).
If anyone's interested in any of those devices let me know. They all have clean ESN's.

They told me about the coverage. To load custom PRL's I followed the guide that's posted in the Q&a forum... Im already going to bed but if you dont find it let me know tomorrow and I'll link u up... Or you can buy my LGOG which already has the custom PRL lol... On the gnex was super easy with the lgog is kinda tricky!

Interesting. I roam constantly and am in a major metropolitan area (smack between NYC and Philly) but they've always tried to blame it on hardware. To that end, I've done my best to ramp up my unlimited data usage to try to make it an issue, but they don't seem to care how much of that coveted Unlimited 3G I suck up.
This month I am sitting at 40 gigs so far with a week to go. 40 Gigs of 3G downloads. It has not been easy....
ive got one with a cracked back and a bad esn ill sell cheap haha

LMAO! I am fairly certain that to get to 40 gb of download over 3g you would need to be awake 22 hours a day! That's the best thing I have ever heard! We should take up a collection on XDA to buy you a case of energy drinks to see if you can break 100 gb!

LMAO! I've used it as a hot spot on and off and was sure to download some massive 4 or 5 gig torrent every night only to turn around and delete it. I truly felt like I was sticking it to 'em. Oh, I also borrowed my gf's phone to join in on the torrenting. Her's helped pick up a little of the slack (6 or 7) I'm sure.
Keep doing it. They'll notice. Their policy says that if a subscriber is excesively roaming for 3+ months they will send a stop letter and will afterwards cancel the service...

The bulk of my downloading/data is done on their actual 3G network. I roam for sure, everyday, but when data roaming I am picking up what seems like a 1x signal. Data speeds of maybe 10-15 kbs a second. I almost give up trying to do anything with the phone during those periods....except maybe fire a game up.
Sprint deserves to take it up the A**! I take full advantage of my hot spot...

I would if it wasn't such a massive downgrade from my cable connection at home.
Sprint 3G = 1 MBs Optimum Online = 45-50 MBs
Until I see it on a day to day basis with my own eyes I am gonna call bullsh*t on this Sprint 4G LTE network they advertise and some of you seem to be able to enjoy. Bullsh*t on Sprint.
I am sticking it to Sprint. I am averaging 6GB/day (roaming data)

WoW! Must be nice! WiFi in my area gives me 1-2 MBs if I'm lucky! 3G averages 50 KBs...4Gs a little better but not by much and 4Gs a hit and miss where I live. I use WiFi at my girls house but I've got none at home so I just tether my Optimus G to my 7 and alternate the 2 on a charger. Its enough for simple tasks like Google+ and email.
