I still have not even updated to ICS from Ginger Bread lol. My phone is completely stock though, and it took me a long time to actually find a phone where the WIFI calling is perfect. I am so afraid of upgrading to ICS and ruining the feature that I just kept GB. I remember back when ICS came out for the S2, people complained about an echo or delayed voice in calling, and thats the exact reason I switched to the S2 from the Amaze. ( The amaze was fine with wifi calling until I upgraded to ICS )
Has there been any other updates since the original one a few months ago? Or am I the only one still using GB 2.3.6

sorry can't answer your question about wifi calling and call echo, but i believe there's been like 2-3 updates since the first ICS update. I THINK. Well from what most people say, 4.0.4, the latest one is actually very good compared to 4.0.3. you should change your title to something like "is there echo in wifi calling for ics"
Gb is good but new updates means more fixes on pending issues... Nothing wrong with ICS in my opinion as long as you look on the threads for what your needs are and if they can be met. Theres still wifi calling without issues in a few of the new ROMs just not ready to call JB dd material yet dues to the small bugs. That's just my opinion. Some like them and others dont. To each its own. But make the jump and try stuff out, besides, thats what its all about
I just went to jellybean and really love it. GB works, but jb is just so much more aesthetically pleasin. If you don't mind the small bugs and no WiFi calling you should do it

Well he said Wi-Fi calling had to be perfect...op I recommend the Beastmade Rom. It's stock 4.0.4 and its what I'm using now. I rely on Wi-Fi calling and it works flawlessly for me.

Well, I did it yesterday. I went back to GB (Darkside Digital Warfare 2.7). This was my daily driver for I dont know how long, and I dont recall switching ROMS for one reason or another like I have with ICS based ROMS. Ive tried most of the major ICS ROMS (of course including Beastmade as I mentioned above), but after a few days or a week, it gets...glitchy. Hang ups, strange call issues, gets laggy, whatever. Maybe Im expecting too much from my phone, I dunno. What I DO know is I didnt have ANY issues on GB. Zero. None. Nada. Maybe >>my<< phone just doesnt play well with ICS *shrug*.
After 24 hours, Im not noticing any speed issues after being on ICS ROMS for the last couple of months. Everything just works. I also have missed not having BLN work for stock messaging app...which it does on DDW 2.7. Also the low vibration levels on all ICS ROMS vs GB. Maybe it sounds minor, but its an annoyance for me.
Anyway, since this is kinda the topic of the thread, I thought I'd post.
I used Juggernaut 5.0 (GB) as my DD for so long. I upgraded to T-Mobile ICS when they released it, and had issues receiving/sending text messages. People would say they would never get them or I would never get their response. This might be due to the radio I was using or the location i'm in, but I never had that issue with GB.
I don't use Wifi calling so I can't answer that for you. I recently upgraded to JB (cm10) and am so happy with it. Buttery smooth and no issues for me so far. However I have heard there are some extremely stable ICS roms available (Jedi Knight). I have yet to try that though, I just went straight to JB and love it.
I'm running AOKP Jelly Bean. I have been used to no WiFi Calling for a long time now. If you can get used to the fact that there is no WiFi Calling on AOSP ROMS, than you will be fine.

I think the only echo was from the leaked stock roms wasn't it?
Nope
So I use to run Juggernaut 5.0 and loved it. My phone started to stop charging, no fault of the ROM. My charging port went bad. Sent my phone back and got my new sgs2. It was already on ICS 4.0.4, it has wifi calling. So stock ICS has wifi calling. Its the only thing keeping me from downloading a ROM at the moment.

If it's like ICS I would say you will get a good stable build from Cyanogenmod before Samsung does anything.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
No, we will not get Jellybean OTA, we were lucky enough to get ICS OTA, and the OTA ICS we did get is full of bugs and issues. AOSP is you're best bet.
Samsung did announce sg2, 3 and notes will all get jellybean. How quick sprint does an ota is different.

Also, just to add.....If the GS2 for some reason does not get the full JB update, Samsung said they will release an update with different features from JB.
For those that followed the fh13 may find more info on the jb update from an inside source.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
I dont see why not. The E4GT is still a high end phone and should be able to handle JB. But Sprint will most likely take a long time to roll it out and by then, we'll have a stable cm10 build
im pretty sure after all the gnex do. hell even the nexus s has it already
With the disaster that ics turned into I can't see jb doing any better.
The Epic is a high end gingerbread device, and will always be a top contender in the gingerbread arena.

I'm sorry but I'm tired of seeing you post the same thing over and over and over again. We all get it, you don't like ICS, or it doesn't work well for you, maybe it kicked your dog... something... be that as it may this is only your OPINION. You refer constantly to the ICS debacle. I'm not sure what this means, as ICS seems to work very well for the large majority of users around here. I'm sure at this point you be tempted to bring up what you think are bugs. Keep in mind these issues do not apply to the vast majority of users. Keep in mind that most of the people posting about how bad ICS is don't even understand why not doing a full wipe and keeping the GB app framework would cause the majority of the issues they are having. Keep in mind most of the people posting these issues seem to be allergic to research and problem solving skills, instead choosing to post "dis broke,y u no fix it for me naow!"The only issue I EVER had with ICS was sub par battery life until I took the time to set things up properly, then I was back to 18-24 hours to a charge with ~4 hours of screen time. Insofar as JB I've been running sbrissens aosp, it is fantastic, definitely an improvement on ICS and I can't wait to see how awesome it ends up given its useability in these really early alphas- I've had no problems using it as a daily driver....lastly as to why you think this is a "GB device" I just simply do not understand. The hardware in this phone is still better than 3/4 or more of the devices currently on the market. Are you telling me you don't think a class leader, like the e4gt, is capable of receiving an os upgrade ~7 months after its launch. Hell, until June this was still the best phone out. Hell, ICS runs awesome on the og evo and the damn hd2! The argument that this phone is a "gingerbread device" is just downright stupid, sorry.
I did not mean to flame you nor am I trying to be an ass. But I've seen you post the same thing so many times I finally had to say something. Your opinion is not fact.
And on topic yes I think we'll see official jb, I could care less though, other than for kernel source , I'm never leaving aosp/cm10/eventually aokp jb for anything... too good...

Is it the new 4.1 update? Because when I flashed it, it was horrible. It was also the Alpha 2. I kept getting lost signal, my 4G kept dropping, my phone stayed in Airplane mode when I turned it on. I kept having to do a reboot.
I don't think I'll be using CM10 until an Alpha 5. I'm running CM9 Alpha 6 and it's running nice for me now.

All those issues have been mostly fixed in the alpha build. There's little to no reports on LOS now. I suggest you give it a try again, you're missing out
I guess Google Voice Dial is still broken and that's a Google issue that only they can fix. If so, that and the small and dark desk dock screen are enough to keep Jelly Bean from being a daily driver for me on any phone.

Rather mobile network or wifi calling. No matter what ROM either. As well as wifi calling sucks ass! No matter what router or flashable zips that are suppose to help with the issue. Swapped out two different Sim cards. An nothing phones work fine for the first day or so after that turns to ****. TMobile an there retarded Reps an so called tech support oh do a reset maybe a factory restore that should do it. Doesn't fix a damn thing. Oh and a trouble ticket every three days that they never call back about. As well as I have to dial a number a couple of times to get a call to go through. Never had these problems with my HTC phones. But we love our Samsungs. Anyone with the same consistent problems? Something else a rep said was the phones are having issues due to 4.0.4 update and they are working with Samsung to get it resolved but when I called back to find out about the trouble tickets this rep said he doesn't know anything about that.....retards

I remember having this problem as well a while back on certain roms that I used, including stock, but I have not had a single issue since I switched the CyanogenMod10 rom. I would say give CM10 a try if you haven't. It's built from the ground up so it doesn't inherit all the weird issues that stock and modified stock roms have. I have never used WIFI calling so I am not sure if that works on CM10, but since switching to CM10 I have not had any of those weird issues where one person can't hear the the other on a call. Also, if you do try CM10 and people you are talking to complain about the voice quality, try enabling Noise Suppression in the phone settings on CM10. Overall CM10 made me fall in love with my phone, its rock solid, stable, fast, and has great usability improvements over the stock based roms.

Well in 4.1.2 (NexusMod Reloaded) with K3 modem, the data droppage rate was absolutely terrible. However with the h9 modem, it was more bearable. 3g would wink out for a couple seconds and reconnect immediately although juicedefender still wasnt working too well. I say, create a nandroid backup and flash a 4.1 rom of your choice. Run with it for a couple days and if youre still having issues, go back to your backup. As long as you don't upgrade your modem, shouldnt be too bad.

Try the update again and see what happens. Did you do a factory reset the last time you did the update? If not I would give that a try if the problem happens again after the update. Reading through various forums, it seems that a factory reset after the update has fixed some of the issues people are having.

Odd...I've actually had exactly the opposite experience with the new modem. My cellular connection seems to be a bit stronger and my wifi range has increased significantly. Whereas with the H9 build, I could only go a couple of rooms over from the router in my house and still maintain a wifi connection. Now I can go anywhere inside the house and still have a connection.

I have used Bacon Rom , Loser Rom and stock rom with zero problems with data
Yeah I did a full factory reset thrice . I was even having the problem where most of my calls I would make would beep once then disconnect and the phone would go to the lock screen.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
My issue that I experienced ever since I flashed the ATT official JB update was that I could send texts and use data and everything, but my contacts would go missing, I couldn't receive text messages and since my contacts would go missing the people in my messaging app would show their number and not their name. I would restart my phone and it would work for a little bit and then would go back out again.
I also switched from the LoserRom which is when I first started experiencing this. I don't think it's ROM related as far as what the developer is doing because I'm experiencing the same thing on ktoonsez AOKP rom.
I also thought it was modem related so I flashed my the LH1 to the CDLK3 Modem and was still experiencing issues. So I went to the CLI5 modem and it was still not receiving texts.
I started to think its my sim card. I turned my phone off took the sim card out and put it back in and powered my phone on. It seems to be working now.
Sorry for this kind of lengthy and out of order.
Please if you have any idea or have experienced this issue as well, please let me know.

Me again.
I posted a few hours ago about a problem with my SMS and text messages not being sent if they were over 160 characters. After receiving help about that and since I'm trying to hit my 10 post mark, I figured I'd make another thread about the other problem I'm having.
So I'm running LiquidSmooth JellyBean 4.2.1 Beta 2 on my Sprint Galaxy S3 and I love it. The only problem I am having is that my headset, a basic Skull Candy headset with the button to stop/play music, mute/unmute calls and also fast forward and rewind music does not seem to be working. I mean I can hear music through them fine and the mic works fine for calls, but the button no longer works on this custom ROM. It was working fine on 4.1.1 stock.
Anyone else have this issue? Any help would be appreciated. It's not a big deal but it is nice being able to cut off my music without even taking out my phone.
Its most likely because JB 4.2 is still in development and doesn't have all the hardware features of the stock ROM built in yet

Or maybe point me in the right direction for T-Mobile user issues...I have seen some of the other carrier ones, but I am concerned with T-Mobile....Thanks!!!

Roger on the OCD! I have my issues too....has anyone come out with a mod for that?..I can live with it. I'm hoping there's no performance issues like the S2 has with Wifi calling...everything else, I can probably live with....I hope....
I wouldn't call WiFi calling a "performance" issue but I would call it an issue with the s3. Comparing it side by side with my old G2X the s3 is a flop sad to say, with WiFi calling. I'm pretty sure 4.+ ROMs changed WiFi calling and made it terrible.
Other then that the S3 is a performance beast with tiny hardware stuff... screens having dead pixels, very un-common. loose hardware buttons, little tiny things like that.

WIFI calling works fine on stock rooted. I have no signal in my house (from any network) and rely on WIFI calling there - and I've never had an issue. I've heard some people are having issues that might have to do with their router set-up.

Really?
What is aosp influenced ROM?
why is that?
I am using the Wifi calling feature on my S2 now...is this why I have calling issues?
Hey man I used to have a tmobile s2 and now I have an s3. I loved the s2 but I hated that I used to have a call echo on every rom out there. And for that reason I was confuse on having another samsung device. I got the s3 as a christmas gift. so far I love it. No call echo or issues. I think samsung listen well with its last galaxy devices like the galaxyS/galaxys2. I have no issues with the s3 no how. About the wifi calling I cant answer that I dont use that. other than that the S3 beats the S2 big time

AOSP influenced is anything available for the SGS III that is not TouchWiz, CyanogenMod, AOKP, AOSP, Parandroid, SlimBeam and so and so on. None of those will have Wi-Fi calling built in natively. There are apps out there though be people stand by to do them well (BobSled) I think it is.

It doesn't have to do with rooting.. I am rooted right now and I can use every feature the stock phone comes with, but if you start flashing different roms and want to keep the same features like WiFi calling and a few others, you would have to look for a touchwiz based ROM..

Exactly. You should read more though if you weren't sure of those kind of things. Look into backing up your imei, and which recovery to use, and how to revert to complete stock after rooting and flashing. Best recommendations I can offer to someone so they don't have to make a thread on something that has been discussed countless number of times like others do everyday haha.
