[SCRIPT]Wipe All Zip - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

I made this for Micronads but thought I would post it for everyone to benefit from. This is a zip that will wipe cache, data, system and dalvik. This is meant to be a quick pre-wipe for flashing roms. You would flash this first and then the rom right after. This wipes data but will not wipe the /data/media folder. So your pics, music etc... will be safe. Basically everything in /sdcard will not be wiped.
Download: http://goo.im/devs/crawrj/Android/ATT_GS3/CWM-Wipe-All-GS3.zip

Thanks for this! Also whats the benefit using your script instead of doing all this manually aside from saving time? Is it a better wipe or something?

Just meant to save time. I think the recovery wipes have been fixed to not wipe /data/media. I know twrp has. I haven't tried CWM. That would be the only other benefit if they did wipe media. But I am almost certain they don't.

Thank u for doing this. I've been hoping someone would put this together. Especially someone as talented and trustworthy as you

Nowadays the rule of thumb is to never use ROM manager to install cwm unless its specifically stated to do so by devs for that particular model. I've seen it cause too many bricks. It may work but it may also brick u. U are better off using the recovery provided here.

Well, if you've checked the IMEI thread and read my posts I've done quite a lot today using TWRP. Even restored back to stock unrooted via Odin straight from JB AOKP. I'm not sure if it's how CWM does something with the partitions or what. I used TWRP because there weren't any reports, so I wanted to test and see.

Ok Guys Here is the 4-in-1 reboot mod for the MA5 system. This is for dodexed roms.
Note: after flashing you may need to fix permissions for everything to work. just letting you know incase you reboot your phone and your like wtf this doesnt work. Because it does lmao.
DISCLAIMER: Me nor xda are responsible for you flashing this and lets say your phone grows legs leaves you comes back and then you get a cold soar from it.

I can't speak for all the xda devs but I have been programming for 12+ years and let me tell you my file structures become a mess in a hurry. I am constantly deleting doubles and triples of files in different directories . One thing that keeps me sane is keeping my code neat and properly formatted.
Good work on this it is always a good learning experience to port mods from scratch but can be a PITA.
Than you for the mod. Very nice work and handy.
File this under "cool story bro", but... have to laugh at myself after installing this. Of course, I want to see what changed, so when I long-pressed to close and saw the few menu items, I was kinda disappointed. Then I hit the Restart option and saw "what the fuss is about". LOL.
At first, I was like "Dude.?!" Then I was all like, "Duuuuuuude". :good:

Submenus are added when powering down. IIRC, the screen used to give options for "Shut Down, Reboot, and something else", along with volume options. Now, when reboot is selected, a second option window pops up and asks which reboot option you want (see attached).

New TWRP..wtf!?

what is up with this recovery? This is the 2nd time I have put a new rom on my phone, went into recovery, wiped and lost EVERYTHING on my phone! including the rom of course.
The first time I just used the regular wipe which is supp to wipe system/chache/dalvik...factory reset..well that wiped something, but not the whole system, becuase the new rom had all my old apps, wallpaper, even the same lockscreen choice. 2nd wipe I wiped data....everything gone
Now I had to again ODIN baack to stock but have no IMEI
Why did they change all this? It was so simple, wipe chache, dalvik, format system and factory reset...none of these EVER wiped any root files on my sd...now they do...WHY!?

Because in the new version of TWRP they changed the placement and layout of
the WIPE option in such a way that that unless you are very careful, the format
sdcard is right next and looks to be part of wipe options.

And people say that TWRP is more "user friendly". I would recommend that you use CWM, its simple and reliable.

Just from personal experience. Problems with flashing ROMs with twrp.
Don't get me wrong, I like twrp and how you don't have to use the volume rocker and power button to select things. But cwm is just simple and straight forward.
I keep bouncing back between the two recoveries, I like them both. I don't really care for the recent update if twrp and how the options have been moved around, I think it makes it less "user friendly".

You completely took my post out of context. I wasn't asking what the difference was or what the average person thinks of a specific recovery. I was asking him to explain why HE recommends CWM. So unless he previously posted a thread about his thoughts about the different recoveries, search would be no help.
As you said, "most" people recommend TWRP. And he was recommending CWM. Instead of confusing users with people always recommending a different recovery, I was just saying it would be helpful if users gave an explanation when recommending a specific recovery to another user.
That's all. Carry on.

I've never been able to get TWRP to not spaz out on me. It likes to pretend you hit the back button when you didn't. Dev doesn't know what's wrong with it. People have reported this bug in the past, but not lately. They either gave up on trying, or don't want to deal with the rabid fan boys. Timezone implementation is silly and over thought. Layout is weird.
Nobody uses CWM. We all use CWM Touch. CWM layout is balls terrible. Seriously, fix it. Koush is a mad genius, unsure why layout is so bad. But it has not one time failed me. File manager would be nice.
User error doesn't make TWRP a bad recovery.
+Cool story, bro!

[Q&A][DISCUSSION] Unified Sense 5 ROM Q&A and Discussion

Please keep all non-development posts and questions regarding the Sense 5 ROM in this thread.
The rules are simple:
No flaming
Posting bugs:
If you are posting a bug POST IN THE DEV THEAD (graphical issues only)
Pull a logcat. If the bug could be kernel related, pull a logcat AND dmesg. I will not be covering how to pull either of these.
When should I post in the DEV thread?
If you are...
...posting some patch for the current ROM.
...posting some very insightful information about how to potentially fix a bug/issue.
...discussing bugs or issues at a technical level.
You can find the dev thread here.

I have fixed the permissions in recovery mode. I have wiped Davlik Cache... At this point, I'm unsure of what to do. Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

Yeah, None of this helps, sadly. I have no .odex files in my phone, unfortunately. I can't even install that "Lucky Patcher" they are referring to... b/c my system is SOOO FULL... psshh I'm gonna wipe and restore from my last restore point and just see if that helps. I hope you find a fix for you, man.

Did all that already.
I finally got it, though. In Rom Toolbox, I had set the apps to install to the SD card and apparently, in 4.2.2 or...who knows when, the last OS I was using was Gingerbread on my Amaze 4G, well, anyway, 4.2.2 doesn't like TRYING to install apps to the SD card. It stupidly wants to fill up the phones internal storage, and not use the SD card at all, I guess. Well, anyway, I changed it to Auto, and I was able to install and update again. Sheesh. What a headache this mess is.
That would explain it
