low quadrant scores? heating issue cause underclock? - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

So I just got a white at&t s3 and loving it so far. Rooted with custom rom. I tried to see if my quadrant score would be about the same as everyone else. Every one getting 4800-5500 scores. For some reason my scores average are in the range from 3800-4000. It seems likes its under clocking the cpu maybe because of a heat issue? I managed to score 4800 once. Any help or ideas please.

Who cares anyways. It spits out numbers. I had 7800 on one test. 5 min later I had 3000, 20 min later I had 4500. Does nothing

i see your point, but I just want to make sure I don't have any defects on my phone. I wouldn't want a car that says its labeled to go as fast as 200mph but I only can get to go 120. What if mine is just bad you know. Jw if there are any test or apps that can check everything and make sure its running the way its meant to be.

Yea i hate it

Use ktoonz kernel it comes with ktweaker u can set it where u want ..or if ur in stock kernel use setcpu and set ur phone to the speed u want

I would not think my device is not working properly because it didn't score as high as other people say in Quadrant Standard. LOL

They are not worth crap but its kinda fun sometimes if ur bored ..just dont live and die by it

Calkulin's Rom is Fast...

Anybody with questions about the speed of Calk's Rom, here it is. Not sure how this compares with other, more modern phones. Quadrant seems a bit out dated at the moment. This is at forced 1.6 ghz with the LoST kernel Exp build. I don't particularly trust the kernel that gets up to 1.8 ghz..

Try it with Renegade kernel.
It is extremely fast!
I'm loving it but I'm just wondering how to add TSMParts (such as multiple lockscreens like Starburst has or extended toggles). With those tweaks, this would be nearly perfect.

3g and wifi are internet speeds. Benchmarks are your cpu speeds. Neither wifi or 3g will affect the benchmarks.

You realize that none of these "fast" roms are actually faster than stock?
All of them use various tricks to improve the sd card score without affecting the cpu/gpu scores. Quadrant is a flawed benchmark susceptible to cheating that way.
None of those "high" scores truly translate to real world performance improvements.

Who gives a damn?
Kernels don't "go to" megahertz. Your hardware can either handle it or it can't.
Get any kernel which allows cpu voltage tinkering, and figure out your best speed.

First off bench scores are about the same with any Rom depending on the Kernel and they really mean nothing other then posting them.
I have and i am still on this Rom right now but all i get are reboots and when i do reboot my phone loops and i have to flash all over again.
And yes i wipe all before i flash.

[Q] what ROM has the best benchmarkz

Hi everyone just ported over from the evo 3d. I would of thought the e4gt would have a lot of fast roms with my eco on antutu I bench just alil over 7000+. I thought the e4gt would get over 8000 if not close to 9000. but I can for some reason the best ROM I can find is just alike 7600+ and that's with it clock at 1.6. Can someone point me in the right direction? OP yea one last thing how come every ics ROM I tried has some serious low benchmarks I thought ics was going to be God compared to GB?
Cause ICS are leaks right now and overclocking is not able to be done yet. Remember benchmarks dont mean squat.

My benchmarks were all over too.. on GB, blazer 4.1 with gunslinger oc'd to 1.6g got close to 7300 in antutu, but gets 6600 in quadrant. On ICS, CM9a2 had a quadrant score of 5850 and antutu was about 6300.. (can't OC yet on ICS)

Using the optimization settings you should be able to get a little higher. Getting the voltage right is going to be the trick for sure.

Epic touch phone of xXHELLBoy91Xx
I have pulled down quadrant scores of 4100 easy running blazer 3.8 rom with stock EK02 kernel some reason my phone really like that one. I have since upgraded to 4.1 and EL29 still able to hit between 3600 to 4000. I have manage a 5550 with gunslinger at 1.6 but it was a clean install NOTHING but setcpu was added and quadrant. to be honest after all that bench marking didnt see a bit of feel diffrence only thing I noticed was how bad it hurt my batt life. I have been playing with supercharged v6 script on stock el29 blazer 4.1 for the past few days seems like it did smooth out a few things and didnt kill my battery maybe you could try that see what happens.
BTW wasnt desperado the kernel used with blazer rom that got like a 6000 not 100% on that but I think it was

im not to sure but calkulin rom is better. for some odd reason i couldnt Oc blazers rom but i ran it stock vs calk el29 stock and calk won. though there was another rom that was ics and did beat calks rom but thats when my gpu friend and im gonna try to find it again. it did beat claks stock Non Oc by like 400 points. i know if i could find it again and try messing around with the Oc i could get real close to 8000 benchmark we will see what happens

In my eyes i think GB is faster than ics i used Calkulin's E4GT v3.0 EL29 Oc to 1.6gz. i have tested over the top roms and nothing comes close i have even Oc to 2.00 with other roms and still doesnt beat this rom. though other rom due look better.

Regular CPU Settings or Reduced CPU for Battery

Does anybody know if having the normal settings are better or under clocking (say 1Ghz) for battery for this particular phone?
I also know that a higher speed can perform the calculations faster and thus save power. But, I'm just curious if there is a sweet spot.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Have you tried under volting, by using a custom kernel. Word of warning not all CPU built equal.

The best way to really tell woukd be to step the max freq. down by one or two and run it for a day or two. If it runs stable and you don't notice any issues you'll prob be good to go. My guess would be running between 1.2-1.3ghz would be a good spot.
I'm honestly not sure you'd see much difference in battery though since its probably running much slower than that most of the time its not sleeping anyway.
Plus I think I remember seeing somewhere that the power used to run at 1.5 is the same it uses to run at 1.3.
If your going to see improvement in battery its more likely you'll get that from voltage adjustments and your governor choice. You'd probably be best served by reading through the kernel thread to see what others have tried and reported.

It's more based on how the rom works, and the kernel yes helps with CPU and GPU scores but I noticed his GPU scores are lower than mine, one of the nation reasons I'm still stock. Because it's probably persues kernel and has issues with FPS in real world and quadrant performance.
He probably ran it 1600/1600 on performance or something on those lines
Edit: this is mine stock rooted GPU much better than his, until persues can match this without overclocking the GPU just to get the same performance I do on stock I'm not switching.

Maybe you should consider that you're not the brightest, most experienced person in this thread before talking smack.
Exposing a component to more heat means you are shortening its life, there is no doubt about that. Those with overclocked desktop CPUs often have elaborate setups with overclocking in mind. You can't add a better heatsink, or a fan to your phone. Mobile CPUs, especially, are designed to be efficient at a certain range of clock frequencies. Moving it too far from the norm means you eventually see diminishing returns.
I've fried everything from my first Commodore 64 to my current box, and everything in between. If you think the phone can function at that level for an extended period of time without failure, best of luck to you.

Dude it was part of the whole meaning of rooting and tweaking. Checking different settings for a little bit, testing them and then reverting back to defaults. I will never leave overclocked/ undervolted or vice-versa settings for a whole day... its just part of the fun of tweaking and experimenting with our devices...

I am all for overclocking, modding, tweaking, hacking, etc. Breaking **** is the best way to learn. But that doesn't mean you should push your hardware past the point of exponentially diminishing returns, and increased risk of burning your chips out. That is, unless, you have no problem with the very real possibility that you'll need to buy a new phone.
That being said, kudos on "going plaid" with your Quadrant score
