My point exactly! And those new stock JB firmware's gonna help our devs in getting us to CM10 faster (I hope).
Let's just continue supporting our devs guys. As far as Samsung is concerned, we're on our own

don't think like that.. for what if we have phone that has many bugs.. and then we get stress to our phone because of ROMs with bugs..
-you were on a party, but your camera doesn't work..
-emergency situation, but you can't call..
if like this? what will we do? blame our phone? ridiculus right?
so better the original Samsung team make it..
BUT THEY WON'T MAKE JB TO OUR PHONE!!! -_-

Well you do have a point there Ivan,
but still, if i see how they made ICS possible for our phone,
i'm quite sure, after a while, JB will also come, and bugs wil possibly be solved in the future.
atleast, that's what i hope
ow well, i'm already really really happy, i'm running on CM9 now
yes.. hope like that.. yeah I'm running on CM9 too.. maybe the reason why SGW doesn't updated:
-SGW has only one version
others are the second with a little upgraded hardware..
-SGW: 1.4 GHz - Single Core
SGAce 2: 1.6 GHz - Dual Core - 800MHz each..
SGW and SGAce 2 has only 200MHz difference.. for what they upgrade ours? people will think to just buy the Ace 2 (for now)
-or this is an experimental mid range device.. SGW is the first SAMSUNG Galaxy mid range device that has a good graphics and quite good processor.. *THEY WANT TO SEE HOW'S THE MARKET AFFECT*
hope Samsung will release upgrade to our device..
I think the main problem in Samsung's point of view for SGW is neither our CPU nor GPU, but the amount of RAM, maybe you guys didn't notice that most of the devices(even with a worse CPU & GPU) which will receive the update are having more than 512MB RAM
all has their alternatives right.. like acro.. he can compress the system memory to smaller.. but yes like ypu said.. maybe our device will be more lags.. but apps will be better.. as long as they know how to manage their apps..
hell ! , someone open online petition to break that samsung neck please !! , i concerned not only SGW is being dissapointed
I asked to Samsung Portugal if Samsung Galaxy W will receive any more updates. The assistant told me that only after all the 2.3.6 firmware updates be released, Samsung will release updates to our (and other) phone.

But mini 2 has 512mb ram, 800mhz cpu, adreno 200, HVGA sceen, 176 ppi, 3mp camera with vga recording and no secondary camera also no flash.
Galaxy w- 1.4GHz -512mb ram, adreno 205, WVGA screen with sharp 254ppi, 5mp camera with hd 720p video recording and vga front camera and it also has flash.
This clearly tells that OUR SGW is hell better than Galaxy mini 2. But it seems most of the devices receiving jelly bean update has NFC even galaxy mini 2. But galaxy beam does not have NFC and it still does receive a jelly bean update. It would be very nice if SAMSUNG gives us a DAMN jelly bean update. If there is cm10. No problem.

Yeah i noticed that one 2. It can't be a hardware problem. It is most likly that the galaxy w didn't sell that well and the market is to small. The only thing we could do, would be to start a petition and send it to samsung OR start developing ^^, but since i'm pretty new to this level of programming, this option kinda falls through for me^^
Do any of you know if a petition like this ever worked? I know there was one for ICS and the galaxy S, but as probably most of you know samsung just released a statement saying that it wasn't fit for ICS.

Hi guys could someone guide me...i want an htc..as i use galaxy 3 is the wildfire better compared to the samsung galaxy 3

Depends on what factors u consider. each of them have their pros and cons..
U said u love the htc sense, but AFAIK it decreases some performance and has fewer options. Of course i agree that its widgets are cool. Many people (+me) with wildfire use custom launchers. But i think there are similar touch wiz widgets in samsung.
--SAMSUNG GALAXY 3
The pros will be -- has slight better resolution, more cpu clock 667MHz, has bluetooth version 3, divx playing support by default, easy root support just by super 1 click short fuse,
The cons will be -- has just 3.15MP cam, slight lower ram 256MB, video recording QVGA @ 15fps.
--HTC WILDFIRE
The pros will be -- 5MP cam (although video recording sucks), comparatively more ram 384MB, 4:3 screen area will be slightly more,
The cons will be -- perma rooting, screen resolution (limits gaming), write support on system partitions, video recording QVGA @ best 21fps.,
Before u go ahead, just learn something about the NAND security in wildfire. It makes the wildfire root far more complex than other rooting procedures. Rooting the wildfire requires its specific NAND exploit. The froyo update came to the wildfire in december and updated the hboot and made it unrootable even for now. Although paid solution is available by xtc clip.
And remember all the newer htc phones have heavily locked bootloaders. Think twice before going with htc. It is really painful if u r a fan of htc.
MY OPINION: if i were u, i wouldn't just drop galaxy 3 and go for htc wildfire. Both those devices are obsolete now. I would choose a high end device with more hardware. If i dont have budget, i would just stick with galaxy 3. But i would never from a galaxy 3 to a wildfire.

Galaxy ace is definately preferable over galaxy 3 and far more preferable over wildfire. I would prefer it.
Pros of galaxy ace: has some more screen resolution HVGA, got official gingerbread, better cpu clock 800MHZ, better cpu architecture MSM7227 chipset.
dont know about its video recording, ram and rom. pls check urself.
If u can afford some more budget, go with a device with 1GHZ snapdragon chipset. It can record 720p video. And those devices will have much more better screen resolution (atleast WVGA).

Ya thats a better option to wait for 3months and go for galaxy sl. that even has 720p video recording, 1GHz Cortex A8 CPU, WVGA screen resolution, PowerVR SGX530 GPU, TI OMAP 3630 chipset. And the price of it might fall a little bit over 3months.
Seems like u r a fan of samsung. But my only android phone is wildfire. Wildfire has a "custom recovery" option for installing custom roms. Just mere root is not enough for installing custom roms in wildfire. I dont know if there is a similar "custom recovery" option in the above galaxy 3, ace, galaxy sl. Please consider this, whether u can install custom roms or not in those samsung phones.....
LOL, I THINK GALAXY SL DIDNT HAVE CUSTOM RECOVERY YET. SO, CUSTOM ROMS ARE NOT POSSIBLE IN THAT YET. CHECK THAT BEFORE PURCHASING.
Wait for 3 months and get the Galaxy SL. You should be far more happier with a top end Android than a higher mid range one. Definitely skip the Wildfire. It's no longer recommended anymore.
Thank you both for the advice...i'll get a galaxy sl only...

Yes. The Nexus S is getting it, and that's a 1ghz, Cortex A8 single core from 2010 with only a 200mhz PowerVR GPU and 512mb of RAM.
The A100 is a 1ghz dualcore Tegra 2 (Cortex A9) with EIGHT graphics cores and double the RAM at 1gb. There's absolutely no reason Acer CAN'T push an upgrade. We'll see. But if Acer doesn't, there is absolutely no limitation that will prevent a 3rd party dev from doing so (probably in the next few weeks).
Why wouldn't 4.1 come out for the A100. It's only a minor upgrade. If it was going to 5.x then I would say that it's probably not going to come to the A100.
I hope so. I don't see why Acer wouldn't, unless they want to focus on other newer tablets. It would be a shame though, considering its 7 inches just like the Nexus 7 and could easily be on the a100.
If it doesn't, I may consider the Nexus 7, and sell the a100 for about ~$120.
I hope that they do. This tablet is a direct competitor with the Nexus 7. Sure, this is beat on the CPU, but it doesn't have a rear camera or SD slot.

Not counting dev work, its entirely up to Acer. They have to decide if it's worth their time and money to create another update for this device, or count the ICS upgrade as final, and focus on newer devices. Honestly, most devices only get 1 major upgrade before being forgotten, and we had ours. The newer Acers are coming out, I wouldn't think Acer would spend the time and money to make JB for us.
Of course I hope I'm wrong.
Ill be glad to test a 4.1 build you put together, your CM9 is running so well.

The a110 sounds great and all, but unless they paid some serious attention to viewing angles and battery life, it'll be even worse then the a100 is now with only 2 cores to power.

Unfortunately the hands on vids I have seen, it looks like it still has that one terrible viewing angle. But the battery is slightly higher capacity.

Unless I see USB host confirmed, no way I would spend the cash for such a minimalistic upgrade.
Ultimate Android 4.1 Update List: Which Tablets Will Get Jelly Bean?
Acer Iconia Tab A500 and A100
Acer updated both the Acer A500 and A100 with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. However, the software was delayed a bit before it actually rolled out.
Given that the software may have caused Acer some headaches and that these are aging devices, an upgrade to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean may not be in the cards.
Remember, Android 4.1 is an incremental update which means there is a chance but at this point, we would start crossing those fingers A100 and A500 owners.

I just really hope a developer makes a 4.1 ROM. The a500 just got a 4.1 ROM so I don't see why it can't be ported over to us a100 users.

I am addicted to this game and really want to know if it works with the Note II. It doesn't work with the S3 but this might just be an ICS issue. Both devices have the same GPU, but the Note II ships with JB.
If you could install it and see if it loads and what not that would be great! The only real downside is that after you install it and launch it, there is a 20 minute download. The game really is amazing though... :good:

Yeah, that's the game but I also have the Nexus and it works just fine on JB. Granted, I am using jakeday's Jelly Belly rom but I don't see why it wouldn't work on the stock...? Also, I don't have an issue downloading it from the play store.
The closest test I can come up with is that there are reviews on the play store that say the S3 doesn't work with the game (and the S3 has the same GPU as the Note II). However, the S3 is also running ICS so that might be the issue... that's the big thing that iOS has going for it, you don't have these huge compatibility issues.
Anyway, if someone with the Note II could try to download this game, let it install, and test it out I would greatly appreciate it!
Bump.
One last bump now that the note II is out...
Hello there peeps, I'm an X Note I user, really enjoyed the experience until my phone got broke heh! And then I bought an S3, my current phone. Im currently running CM10 on my S3, runs good, but because of the close sourcing of the Exynos processor, its still not THAT smooth as it should be. But my taste always is a bigger screen, so I want to get back a Note II. I highly DOUBT that Im ever gonna use Touchwiz....
So the question is, will the Note II get a hands on from Teamhacksung? And we'll get an official support from CM10?
Besides, Samsung has finally decided to give devs some documentation of its Exynos4 source !
Replies would be appreciated as I'm considering to buy the Note in few days, still not so sure! Hope you can help
The current CM team isn't touching any future exynos devices besides the S3 and the Tab if im correct. But if someone new want to come in and start developing for the Note 2 than it would be possible, which we already have a few members here working on CM10 for the note 2 and made some progress. CM10 in the works
Don't expect any official support for CM tho on the Note2..
Running a AOSP build just goes against everything the Note 2 was meant for

because it uses a older processor than the new Note 2 and GS3 (Exynos 4210) we use Exynos 4412, the GS2 even have problems with CM and other aosp roms. (Didn't some of your roms the menu button didnt work?)
Also the US version of the Note 1 came with a snapdragon processor..
Samsung just don't want to release the right docs for the Exynos line. you can build a AOSP rom for the note 2 it just would be a a$$ to get everything fully working with out the sources you need.
Reb0rn and simone are both working on an unofficial CM10 for the note 2, and I believe Entropy said if they get it working and all their gerrit **** is OK there's no reason for it not to be made official with them as the maintainers.
I may be wrong about that last bit though, it's best to just go read that thread.
I believe cm10 is a downgrade from the stock software. Multitasking for example separates this phone from the rest. Never thought that I'll say a phone out of the box better suits my needs than cm10, aokp, or paranoid. Sorry

Considering we're still only on 5.0.2 and 5.1.1 has been out for many months I'd feel there is little chance this year if ever. A custom ROM will be our best bet. Also be careful what you wish for as you still see many posts from people reverting to KitKat while Lollipop has been great for me.

M is supposed to be optimized and with several improvements in comparison to LP.
So if it can run LP than it will fly with M.
It's Samsung obligation to provide Android M, because of the 2 year firmware support. No excuses are accepted!
Being fed up with all my Samsung devices firmware sluggish and dated updates, I'm considering in the future moving to Nexus or Apple.
Samsung, please don't ask premium prices, and then provide the cheapest support.
I agree @pacc I think I will move on to one plus LG and nexus my next device wont be samsung
I read the other day that galaxy tab 4 is receiving android 5.1.1 around now , so I'm hoping the tab S will get it too...anything else doesn't make sense; both devices released around the same time, and tab S is the premium one...
As for M, that just wild speculation. My money is on "no, we won't get that"

IMHO, and I'm no expert just an end user, Android and Apple bite. Not ONE Android based device I have is capable of browsing the internet with the same functionality as Chrome, Firefox or IE. Facebook apps are lame at best and I prefer the interface we are given with a browser over any of the apps. I'm not going to buy any future Android based devices. I totally refuse to purchase anything from Apple after being stung buying an iPOD years ago.
So IF I ever buy another tablet, and that's pretty doubtful, it will be Windows based, cell phone too.
Samsung, Asus, Rockchip devices using Android....no more of my money....
Samsung suckered me in with a great price for awesome hardware but I am more educated now I would never buy a Samsung these days. I originally installed a custom ROM because I got tired of all the lag and bugs of Tab S stock kitkat. Expensive lesson as now my knox is tripped.. Samsung probably isn't excited to release software because everyone is wiping to get rid of lag then never reporting into their service. I lasted two months.. I would type a sentence then wait as it slowly came out, it was epic bad lag.
I lasted 2 days and tjen wiped and flashed a custom rom lol I guess thats the reason why they dont update

They may be using Tab 4 as a test before putting their eggs in the basket with the Tab S.
I must have lower expectations of my tab than you guy`s, I am still on kitkat and apart from rooting to get full microsd access i have had no problems at all, I don't care about updates they seem to cause more problems than they are worth.
John.
Great devices totally ruined by that crappy samsung software
