Does anyone know how to enable the spell-check and suggested words for non-English languages on 4.1.1?
In addition to English which works great, I have e.g. Swedish as an input language. Selecting this doesn't spell-check or use in-line completion. Other languages are the same.
Any ideas?

Hi all, I've been digging in xda-developers for some time for a software to input Chinese characters, let it be in SMS, or even composing emails in WWE rom.
So far I learned that Droid can only read but cannot write.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=469199 this link here is either dead or no people know the answer.
I even tried the msjh.cab but I don't know how to input in sms.
So I brought this here, maybe anyone can show me something?
do you want to input Chinese by pinyin or strike? also, do you want to input simplified or complicated Chinese? I have a few software like A4, PlumSIP6_1008 for you which are for Chinese simplied.
finally there's reply
I need pinyin simplified input. But so far I haven't see anything that can input Chinese Characters in eg SMS.

is it? I tried HelloNasty's rom before. But XannyTech still the best (personal opinion). Anyway, is there any other ways?
Chinese Input
You should try - CE-Star Standard for WM5/WM6
http://www.mobem.com/products/Personal.php
Various versions available, which include Pinyin, Stroke, Handwriting recognition (which I bought, but don't use).
Has worked perfectly on WM6.1 and WM6.5 Xannytech ROM.
Switching between WM6.5 keyboard and the CE-Star keyboard is a little slow, but works well. Also toggle between CE-Star English mode and pinyin mode sometimes a little irritating. Suggest that once Pinyin Mode is working then switch to WM keyboard for English and not use CE-Star for English.
Chinese Input PS
PS When you install CE-Star it will change your language settings to Chinese, so things like GoogleMaps will start to display all menus in Chinese, Just set Language to English in Regional settings, and everything is back to normal.
Hello i own a european HTC Hero and i have recently updated to ROM v2.73.405.5. It has been bought in Italy so only english and italian locales can be selected. I have selected Greek locale using Customlocale.apk, and now all menu and keyb are in gr language, but Greek T9 is missing. Updated to the latest German BTU ALJ3 firmware, everything is GREAT except one problem. The handwriting recognition only works on the 3 preinstalled keyboard language packs in the firmware, German, (English)UK and I think Korean. I downloaded the (English)US keyboard language, everything works except no handwriting recognition window option.
Any help guys? :crying:
I'm using the UK English keyboard right now, as far as I can tell it works and looks the same as the US version. Any difference I should be concerned about? It's strange that handwriting recognition is missing with the US Keyboard with this firmware.

Same happened to me. I lost my polish handwriting recognition toggle. Any idea how to recover it?
UP!
I have the same problem on the stock ALJ2 (my phone hasn't even been rooted yet). By deleting Samsung Keyboard's cache and data and adding just the language you want afterward, you can force it to do handwriting recognition in that language. However, the moment you add one of the stock languages (German or English (UK)) it hijacks the handwriting recognition again and it only works for that language from that point on.
It definitely looks like a bug. I hope Samsung fixes this in the next update. Has anyone submitted a bug report yet?
I have searched for this on the internet but can't find any useful info.
Since one week I'm proud owner of Note 2. It's a fantastic phone. There is just one rather big problem I'm having with this phone.
I have a stock phone and I would like to use handwriting recognition for different languages. I have added and updated English, Dutch and Croatian. It is possible for me to write with S pen when I select English or Dutch. But when I select Croatian, the handwriting option in the menu disappears and I can only choose to use on-screen keyboard or speak-to-text recognition.
By the way. I need to use handwriting recognition for writing: SMS / Whattsapp / E-mail mainly.
I really need Note 2 to be able to write text in any Ex-Yugoslavian language (Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian), preferably Bosnian or Croatian. Does anyone know if a solution exists for this problem?? It would help me very much to use my phone to it's full extent.
One maybe important piece of information. My phone is an international GT-7100 version.
Tried:
- So you just know when I try to write serbo-croatian, with English or Dutch selected, the phone just tries to change the words to English or Dutch. So this is not a workable solution...
Bump!
I would like to know this too... Writing in english is perfect on this phone. But most of my sms i send in Serbian (or serbo-croatian, whatever you like)..
@OP : pozdrav tebra
I have the same issue with Lithuanian language. However I have checked on other phone with exact same software version and settings and it had the functionality. No idea what Im missing - any help appreciated.
Hi All,
We have released a Pronunciation/Translation App for beta testing here:
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=saypu.com&hl=en
The App enables you to convert text written in foreign languages into SaypU spelling, whether the foreign language uses non-Roman characters (e.g. Arabic word ‘كلمة’ would be ‘kalima’) or Roman script (e.g. French word ‘chat’, which means ‘cat’ in English, becomes ‘sha’ in SaypU).
In addition, you can convert English text spelled phonetically into the traditional spelling (e.g. ‘frend’ --> ‘friend’).
Also, you can use the EngSMS language to convert English words into shortcuts (‘good’ --> ‘gd’) or to convert shortcuts into English words (‘gd’ --> ‘good’)
It is very easy to learn the SaypU alphabet using examples from popular English words (e.g. ‘very’ --> ‘veri’), by clicking on Menu, then Alphabet.
If you could test on various devices and forward any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.
