Can not install Cyanogen nightlies or others. - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

I am running CWM v5.5.0.4 and I can't install any of the nightlies at all. I installed BlackJelly and it runs just fine. . . But, what gives?
Also, is there anything better about the nightlies compared to the BlackJelly?

CM is AOSP and Black jelly is Touchwiz. You need to give us a little more information. Is there an error? What?

Oh sorry about that. When I try to install through SWM it aborts the install and I get the garbage can looking robot laying down. lol
I tried like 5 or so different builds.

Update CWM. Download the one in my signature and flash it. More than likely this will solve your problem.

I figured it was the CWM not being up to date.

ROM Request?? Tablet/Hybrid

OK so, I was poking around the EVO 4G forum (I like to check in on my old flashing buddies every once in a while) and seen this ROM that I thought was sick! Its a tablet/phone crossover type thing with CM9.
CM9 Tablet/Hybrid
I would so love anyone that can port this to the Epic 4G Touch!!! I will confess my love to you! LOL.
Thanks in advance

WHAT?! I LOVE YOU MAN!!! Thanks so much!!!!
So.. is there just not enough interest in keeping a tabUI/hybrid rom current??
When AoKPm5 fell off the dev table, I was a little bummed, then PA was ported, and I felt like there was some promissing hope that we would be able to keep the development cruising along for the tabUI/hybrids..
Well.. maybe its just a matter of having the source for the ICS kernel for the E4GT, but with the "source" already floating around.. I'm thinking that the kernel source wasn't the hybrid answer.. I hope I am wrong here though..
Maybe if we have enough voice to say the hybrid roms are still wanted, the development will continue.. :/

ONLY reason why Slim nTrim lost tab UI was cause the Dev who did tab UI stopped working on it, otherwise it would still be there. But Slim n Trim 2.0 has it still

it needs to be flashed using twrp, it will still say error 7 but it will still flash.. its an assert error in twrp that only show when a rom is built natively with twrp
Gotcha, thanks

Hey Chris, I've been avoiding TWRP cause I thought it had a more "heavy" process to replace your recovery from TWRP. Is all that is needed to restore back to a backup with agat or cwr recoveries would be to just go back to stock first with a one-click or something? Or is that even needed?
This is the only thing keeping me from testing anything with TWRP.

i dont understand the question? if you flash a rom with twrp you will have twrp, if you flash one with cwm you will have cwm.. its no different, just a different gui.. you dont have to go back to stock. or anything like that

I just thought I had read before that the only way to not run into issues after using TWRP was to go back to stock and then reinstall rom or backup after getting back to stock first.
If you don't have to do that and just factory reset is done from within FF18 (TWRP, CWR or Agats), then my concerns were mute at this point and I should have no problems going back and forth.
I am assuming that you are saying the latter is correct.
Edit: so if the latter is true, then I can flash kernels with different recoveries and they will overwrite eachother no problem? Does mobile Odin work the same if you have TWRP recovery?
The onther thing is that I didn't realize is that you helped or built TWRP, if that is the case, I would feel very comfortable using it, and I also didnt realize you built an FF18/CWR kernel.. I will have to grab that too..

yes i helped Dees_troy with twrp for this device, and I continue to help work on it, I consider it to be a great recovery...
I include it in my AOKP builds.. it includes safety features implemented and designed by Dees_troy and myself..
Those same safety features have been implemented in CM9 alpha6 and recent nightlies as well, so they are also safe.. which means those CWM versions are safe.
Any recovery made by me, Dees_troy, or TeamEpic since the release of TWRP would be considered safe..

IMHO I don't find Tablet UI on a phone useful or desirable, why a tablet UI on a small screen when you can enjoy it at its fullest on a Tablet. Just my opinion no pun intended to anyone. There is a reason to it not being enabled on a phone trust me.

I know some do not like it, but I personally think it looks better smaller, and compact. I do not find it difficult to read as some have described. There are many was to increase font size and still use the compact UI. I don't need to increase however as I like the size it is .. and even though most of the development for that mod has slowed, some roms still have it incorporated to use if desired. I myself have an excellent backup of AoKPm5 with the modded system apps so that everything works perfect.. but its stuck with FF02 as the latest kernel, I haven't tried the latest AoKP kernels with it yet.. maybe m5 will still work with TI, dees_troy & Chris's kernel but I'm not sure..
But anyways, my point is as with most every mod and customization we have for this device, ppl use what they like cause of personal preference and what they like.
You are more that free to not like the tUI mod, but there are still some that like it..

What's best for nitro p930?

Hi guys, got nitro hd a few weeks later. Till now never rooted and it's still in gb 2.3.5. Now wanted to try something and thought of upgrade or flashing a roms.
So what I need is, should i go for official ICS or cm rom. And as I'm a noob would like a detailed tutorial on flashing/rooting.
Thanks in advance.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Here's my suggestion of how to progress into the custom ROMs world...
1. Read about rooting your Nitro. Look in our Dev Forum for guides on doing it.
2. Root while you're still on 2.3.5 (to circumvent any of the stated issues with rooting Official ICS), also install CWM (ClockworkMod) on it as it will allow you to easily install ROMs.
3. Then try the CM9 ROM nightlies. It's fast, stable and smooth.
4. After you've gotten comfortable with that and have gone through a few nightlies...Then you can feel free to venture forth into the other custom ROMs (MAKE SURE you're familiar with making proper backups in case you want to revert back to previous builds/ROMs), or even the CM10 Preview builds.
Good luck!

Sorry to Hijack .But isnt it like a Pain to Root the Official ICS update ,wouldnt it be easier to root on 2.3.5 and install CWM and then flash ? Im not second guessing you ,I just got my Nitro HD today but been reading that the process to root ICS is kind of long and tricky.

You could be right. I rooted mine back on 2.3.5 so I haven't gone through any of the hassles as have been stated with rooting from official ICS. I shall adjust my original post.
Doble check.
OP double check your baseband version cuase if its 2.3.5 V10j ,it has been stated that its nearly impossible yet doable after many tries.
To be honest, I don't know more details about the android world. Can someone plz link the basics of android like cwm, adb & so I can have some basic knowledge about it.
Actually, I feared I would brick it.
And thanks guys for the replies.

If you wanna try the official ICS, get cwm from ROM manager. Then download honos flash able official ICS. Try it out, if you like it, keep it, if you don't, switch to something like cm9 or cm10 or hono's full throttle or honos aokp, the choices are endless, all you need to do is search .

Try the official ics before custom ics, it's WAY faster than official gingerbread, it's stable and once debloated it's pretty perfect as it is to me.
Then if you want to taste something else, try the cm9/10 but I would let them as a second passage to ics/jb.
For the official rom you can either flashing with lg tool (using the before - after rooting method brianlily posted here) or go with cwm as stated by rani9990, it should be the same.. the substantial difference is that if you don't put the cwm recovery before ics, then you'll need to go through partial unbrick process to revert back to gingerbread, because on ics the cwm won't be possible to install.

Best AOSP Rom?

Hi, I am not new to rooting and custom ROMs but it has been a while and the forum has so many roms that it is hard to decide which is the most stable.
Would you guys please recommend to me the best/most stable/most customizable(cyanogen) AOSP rom for this phone? Basically I'd want the best CM9 rom and hopefully CM10 once its stable.
Thanks

1. I believe the difference between the to sections is that Original development is for AOSP based roms while android development is for roms based of stock or leaked firmware. That being said i dont think that many people understand that when they post and it has been kind of a Cluster f.
2. Are you currently on the OTA? you will need to odin a kernel that has a working recovery with it. If youre going to another rom right away it may be easiest to odin EL26 cwm, then load into recovery and flash because this will install the kernel/recovery packaged in the rom.
3. Ive used AOKP some and its pretty nice but i am one that likes to stay with a rom that still has activity. That way if i have problem there may be a chance that it is going to get fixed. But if you are ok with a few problems here and there go ahead and test out CM10 or sbrissens AOSP.

[Q] No LTE!!

I keep running into this problem of not being able to connect to 4G after I flash a custom ROM. I flash back to stock and I'm fine. I also tried flashing the modem. If someone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated
first, make sure 4G is suppose to work on the ROM. It's possible it may not.
If it suppose to, you may want to update your PRL and Profile. May be worth effort before you flash the new rom as well.
A
I've had this problem once or twice before. It was simple, but everyone's case is different.
Try going into settings, under wireless and networks click more settings and make sure you have lte along with the other 2 enabled. Could only be on cdma. Who knows, it fixed my problem.
Hope it works!
The ROMs I have tried have been cm10.1 based. I'm sure it is LTE ready but I could be wrong.
The ROM didn't have the option to update my PRL or Profile, is there another method?
The ROM is Avatar 2.13
My modem is MC2
My PRL is 55014
Galaxy note 2 SPH-L900
Yeah I tried rebooting the phone in CDMA/LTE still no luck. Only get LTE when i reflash the Stock ROM (rooted)
I don't know. I haven't tried CM since I've gotten the GN2.
Yeah I haven't flashed CM since I've had the Note either. Wish I could of been more helpful to you. Try pm'ing someone who's made a cm Rom?
There are a lot of nice people on Xda that are really helpful.
I assume you've tried using the search bar at the top?
Yeah I tried a few things I found but nothing worked. Gonna try hash codes next.
Would you recommend a good Custom Rom?

It is all user choice. Try them all, easy to flash. I like the minitab which I am currently running. Jellybomb or slimrom are other choices I would pick from. There are usually twerks and perks of custom roms. Make sure you read the op to the exact t.
Thanks man, im lovin Minitab. Having trouble getting youtube or netflix to work but sofar so good. I downloaded JellyBomb ill try it out tonight.
Its a cm10.1 problem. I'm in the same boat right now.

I have tried CM 10.1
PacMan v. 23
And I can get everything working but 4g.
