The volume levels are abnormally low using headphones. When playing through the speaker, the volume as expected though.
Is there a way to increase max volume from the phone?
I've been thinking about buying a bluetooth receiver to a stereo, but do I have same issue, even with the volume?

I'm having the same issue. On my Philips headphones the volume is very low. The same headphones give superb sound when used with my iPad. Don't know who to fix this issue.

None that I am aware of.
Some manufacturers have lowered their maximum volume output due to safety concerns.
I think it was Apple that got sued for ear damage from their iPods right? It was some big manufacturer, they lost big time.

Thats disappointing i have to have my volume at max on most songs to have it at an acceptable sound level. Some of the quieter songs I don't get a good sound level at all.
I just bought this xmi x-mini II speaker
the sound is incredibly loud and crisp and has very good bass for its size
when connected to my laptop, ipod or iphone...
while connecting it with my desire hd its volume has just enough loudness,
on max volume on phone and max on xmini speaker...
i wonder if how many power output from the 3.5mm earphone jack the desire hd have,
does it cause this or is it just a software issue since the speaker has built-in battery that could last up to 12 hours on normal playback so i guess power output is not an issue.
anyone got this speaker?

Anyone else noticing hiss through the headphone jack when sound is played?
Steps to reproduce:
Use earphones
Get sound to play shortly or at low volume (a notification works fine)
I'm hearing a good amount of hiss through earphones (loudness depends on headphone sensitivity: much less audible on my stock ipod earphones, much more noticeable on my Shure IEMs)

nope...sitting here as I write this listening to music using Samsung Focus S buds. NO hiss at high or low volume.
I tried a koss headset this morning and my phone rebooted.....but no hiss.
I have also noticed the hiss whenever watching movies or listening to music. Depending on volume, it can be pretty strong sometimes.

I'd reboot myself too, if you plugged Koss headphones into me...
Cuz you hava a good ear piece, lmao
Yup, my senn IE8s and Ety ER4p are both producing noticeable hiss at low volumes, sounds like the gain is way up and the line level is low.
There were some amazing KOSS headsets back in the day, especially known for their electrostats. I'd pick a KOSS ESP950 over a dr. dre beats, BOSE, HK, or whatever else is popular out there these days.
+1 on the Koss. I used to use Radio Shack Optimus - those were all Koss - and some of the best sound headphones under $50 I have ever owned.
I have Sennheiser CX300-II's and they are quiet compared to other headsets and bass response is sub-par (compared to what they sounded like in my iphone). My Klipsh Image One's sound awesome, but the mic/volume don't work (and the AHJ detects and then disables the phone's mics, so lots of features 'break' with it, trying a Fiio LU1 adapter in a few days). My rocket fish cheapos work the best, and sound the most 'normal' with good bass response, general sound - however they hiss - which is less noticeable at higher volume!
Just purchased Note-2 last week and was upset to know this.
MP3 music volume is low compared to galaxy S-2(my previous mobile) even with different headphones.
I am surprised to know, note-2 is expensive but how come inferior with music.
Annoying thing is if I go to custom equalizer and increase 14k or any slider, the effect is there but volume decrease further. The higher I move slider, the further music volume decrease.
What is this? Help is appreciated, any way to boost its volume. (without rooting)
Thanks,

Definetly volume is much higher than S2. it is in par with S1. maybe your loud speaker is faulty.

I am concerned mainly with headphone volume, that is low.
Pl. share if music sound decreases in your Note-2 when you move equalizer sliders up?

sorry. i never use it with headphones. i mainly leave it at my desk in work and hear some music.
maybe someone else can comment on headphone sound.:good:
Get Noozxoide Eizo app from Play Store. Should help boost the volume.
I recently purchased a pair of Bluetooth headphones. They connect fine, but with the volume on max, they aren't very loud. I have used some Bluetooth headphone in the past and I had the same issues but I figured it was just those headphones. However, when I connected them to my iPad and turned it up, the were almost unbearably loud. Much louder than on my Pixel.
Anyone has that issue and been able to resolve it?
I did try disabling absolute volume but that didn't do anything.
My pixel is stock and not rooted.
I have three sets of BT headphones and all I run at volume lever 8-10. Max level would hurt my ears. Sounds like you have a hardware defect, likely the BT radio. RMA that thing.

Not necessarily. I've seen a video that someone was reviewing a pair of BT headsets and the Pixel 2 XL did have a lower output than the iPhone. I wouldn't be surprised if your BT headphones would be even louder on an iPhone too. Those and mine just happened to be loud enough for us but we don't know any better because we don't connect them to an iPhone.

I don't have that issue with my studio beats. Them things are very very loud on my pixel. I could put it to Max volume have the beats just hanging around my neck and you can hear everything perfectly that's how loud it is.
A few questions to help troubleshoot:
1. What BT headphones are these?
2. Do you have developer options enabled? If so, have you changed any BT codec settings there? If not, enable developer options and test various BT settings, based on the recommended connection for your headphones
I have a set of blueant pump airs and they are heaps loud - i can't go past 50% on my phone otherwise it'll do some serious damage.
