[Q] Has anyone ported the Touchwiz Task app? - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The one that you were able to set a to-do list and set alarms for each item. I've tried a few apps in the same vein, but nothing comes close to the functionality and simplicity of that app. It did exactly everything I needed.

Port it to what? CM?
There's a thread with some ported apps from tw to cm. I'm not sure if the task app is there. Ill check for u.
So it hasn't been ported yet, but here's now if u can figure out how to do it yourself.

[HELP]How to cook Launcher Pro Plus into CM6?

I need some help into cooking Launcher Pro Plus into CM6. I bought and installed it to my current CM6 test5 from koush and it runs really, really good. Best one yet. I understand that it works great, as is, but I'd like to cook it in and take ADW Launcher out.
I know I would need to do much more than just switching out apk's. What other files would I have to modify for cooking it in?
Would it be much easier for me to push, pull, and modify a few files from my current ROM?
I just want it installed as my main launcher in system. The PLUS version is a paid app so I'm sure I won't be the only one asking how to do this.
7 zip works.

Wouldnt it be as easy as deleting ADW and the just pushing Launcher Pro to /system/
Don't really think you need to do anything else.

Heh. Well that's what i'm trying to find out. I thought I would have to modify more files to instruct the install process or 2.2 to look for Launcher Pro Plus, instead of ADW.
I'm a noob so I don't know.

Ok. Thanks. Didn't think it would be that simple. I'll pull the ADW apk from test5 zip and replace with LauncherPro Plus apk.

You can have multiple launchers on your phone. If you put LauncherPro and others on your phone. If you have more then one installed at first it will ask you when your first boot your phone to select which one you want to run. It also has an option to set as default, meaning that is the default launcher that will always go to. If you don't set a default, every time you press the home key it will ask you which launcher to run. If you set a default and later want to change it to another launcher, go to settings>applications>choose the current default launcher and select clear defaults. Then it will go back to asking what you want to launch when you press the home key and you can choose a new default.
homeswitcher is an app in the market that lets u manage your launchers...very easy, great app!

Why not just remove ADW through root and reinstall LauncherProPlus from Titanium Backup? Provided you already have a version saved on there?
So... you're going to put one of t
he few paid apps that deserves a couple if bucks in a publicly available download?
Edit: nevermind, my noobness didn't read the post more carefully. My apologies.

[Q] noob question about launchers and app organization

Hello all. I've been lurking on the forum for a bit over a month now while trying to learn as much as i could about android and the epic4g. It's my first android phone and first experience with android.
That being said, i have had experience with ios devices (i own an ipod touch 4g and ipad2) and jailbroken apps like folderenhancer, and prior to going to android i've exclusively owned symbian devices.
For specs, I'm currently running LauncherPro Plus as my launcher on the genocide 2.0 kernel with the Syndicate Rom Frozen v1.2 rom, rooted of course.
What i'm wondering though, is if there is some way to create folders and nest folders to better organize all of the applications i have on the epic. I've played around with Folder Organizer, and it seems okay, but it's not the most intuitive software, especially when you start nesting folders by using their labels.
I would preferably like it within the launcher, so that when i hit the application button (or whatever it is called, the button that pulls up the list of all installed apps), i could then click on my custom folders and quickly find what app i want. Having to flick and scroll through all my apps alphabetically isn't the most efficient method of organization (IMO).
Thank you!
I'm not sure about launcher pro, I used it for a few days but I like the Anarchy Launcher that came with the TrInItY rom when I was running DK28 so I've just always used that . You should, however, just be able to long press and make/ set a folder on whatever screen you are on and then open up your app drawer and find the app you want and long press on it and drop it in the folder you made. Don't know if that will help you accomplish what you wanted to do but that's what I did to group apps for easy access...

Tw4 meaning touchwiz? I haven't looked into that, but i will, thanks. Go Launcher i have seen before, and that was what i was going to try, based on how many themes and things were available for it.

Go Launcher EX does the folder organizing you want very well. You can even create folders in the app drawer and create shortcuts to each folder on the Home screen, etc.

I agree and use GO in this manner as well. And when u open app drawer and move apps in folders, if that folder also has a shortcut to homescreen it will have the new added app as well. I had launcher pro come on my rom as well but removed it for GO instead bc I like the folder setup way better

[CM7/9] Ported Stock TW Apps

Here are some stock TouchWiz apps that have had TouchWiz removed to work with other Roms, specifically CM7.
Note: These will not work on Roms other than CM7, except maybe MIUI (Doubtful)
These are all CWM flashable zips, so download to your SD card and flash.
TouchWiz Calculator
Download
md5 - 52e1eb9387cc738153729bd524ee54b1
TouchWiz Calendar
This overwrites the stock CM7 Calendar and CalendarProvider apps.
Please re-check your calendar sync settings. This also might mess with any exchange accounts you have
Download Version 2
md5 - b895dff748526a0a61c1ae2787d16f3d
TouchWiz Memo

TouchWiz Task Manager
Download Version 2
md5 - b2618686b3d2f3de0dfa5034af658312
Touchwiz Clock Package
Note: This is the EL30 clock. It leaves the stock clock.
If you change alarms within one of the clock apps, it will disable the alarms in the other. Make sure your alarms are set before you sleep!
The smart alarm in this app is also fairly quiet

I might do some more, but this is all for now.
If your interested in the process, check here
If you have any issues, just let me know.
thanks. ill have to look into these once i get time to put cm7 on my epic.
hey your right on time
just installed cm and the task manager is a crutch of mine
though i am liking the cm long-press back, to kill apps, as well
is the Calendar the one from our Epics or or by chance the Fascinate Calender ?
Would very much appreciate it if you did the stock Music Player.

+1. I hope it's possible... I miss panoramic mode.
I was about to flame on another person who asked for them, till I saw who it was that posted! Nice job
All apps installed and work well from the get-go, except TW calendar which was FCing. I wiped data/cache (app and CWM), rebooted and reflashed the .zip several times to no avail. Was about to give up but the following fixed it: first backed up the TW calendar and storage apps then uninstalled both completely via TiB, restored CM7 calendar & storage app/data (pulled it via TiB from a previous nandroid) and then restored the TW Calendar and Calendar storage apk's (TiB). TW calendar works fine now, no FCs
Aside from the TW Camera app, I also miss the TW dialer (search contacts option, speed dial etc). Hopefully the OP will consider porting TW phone.apk as well.
Why don't we just port over TW entirely? Hell what's the point of cm7 anyway. Jk jk.

Is it possible to do this to the vvm apk? It would be nice to stop getting the text messages.

It is believed that it is part of the app and messaging combined. All AOSP ROMs have that happen. I wonder how the Nexus handles it. You can either get a messaging blocking app and block 9016 or turn off voicemail notifications and only have the text message notiify you.

I can give you the cm7 vvm apk and to get rid of notifications you go into settings>call settings>voicemail notifications (uncheck) and you'll be good. Also if you need to go into the voicemail settings in the same place and change *86 to your #

Confirmation that the task manager works, anyone? Does it add the 'task manager' button to the task switcher (long press home)? If so, that'll take care of the one thing I dislike about AOSP ROMs...
Awesome! Thank you very much. I would like to second the request for the clock app.

ICS Launcher

Will Team Syndicate's "ICS Launcher"(https://market.android.com/details?...sMSwyLDEsIm1vYmkuU3luZGljYXRlQXBwcy5JQ1N2MiJd) get updated, because right now I cant edit the icons in the dock or in the app drawer.
The only prob I have is it force closes like ten times a day. Other than that I think it's great. For the dock just drop the app you want where you want it.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
Ya I know but in the app drawer you can't edit where the icons are, like in Go launcher for example.Same goes for the dock.
It has potential but there is NO support for the launcher from the developer. Here is the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1268003 good luck.
Also, "Will this get updated" questions for market apps are pointless. No one here is in charge of it...

I fixed the FC by hitting menu button going into launcher settings.. then Launcher controls then *check* system persistent.. Ive never had a force close since then and im running the latest CM7 nightly 39 =D Hope this helps.
Just use Go Launcher with an ICS theme... looks and functions almost the same. I was running an older version of the ICS launcher, before it hit the market and it was much better.
go to their website: http://syndicateapps.com/main/ICS_Releases.html
and picked the 3th one, that the one i use and it doesnt fc.

Favorite things

I'm currently running AOKP's JB ROM and I'm trying to make a list of the things that are TouchWiz exclusive that I wish would be part of any original ROM. And so I turn to you good people so get a feel for what I might be missing.
Here's what I have:
The ability to slide left or right over a contact to call or send a text. Love that
I really like the messenging app. Clean and simple. Very fast and responsive.
What else am I missing?
