Can't update past UCALEM without wifi acting up! - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hey fellas...hope you can help me out. I can't update my phone to anything past UCALEM without the wifi acting crazy. The phone will literally take 20 secs to wake from sleep! The *#0011# trick does seem to work....but I'm not trying to do that every time I reboot the phone! There has to be a better solution! Anyone?!
Galaxy S III I747

It was a kernel issue....for some reason faux's kernel doesn't like anything passed UCALEM. Good thing we have options as Ktoonsez's works just fine on the new H9

Post issues found in the ICS Leak (I927UCLG9)

its real nice to finally have some ICS goodness on my phone, but i have found some issues.
my Motorola Roadster 2 bluetooth speakerphone does not work well with this version of ICS. will not let me use the call/text button.
i am finding some apps not working correctly, i.e. Pushover - the notifications do not make a sound. Not sure if that is an app issue, or an ICS issue.
*edit* ok so it seems that i am not getting any notification sounds. sms, voicemail, etc...
also the volume in general does not seem as loud as the 2.3.6 firmware was.
anyone else find any issues?
*UPDATE* after wiping within cwmr most of my issues were no longer present. the only problem i had still was that notification sounds didnt work after a couple hours. i dont know the cause, but i used audio manager widget and set the profile to loud, and restarted phone. havent had them go out since.
I have all these issues except tue bluetooth thing

atleast it is not me.
i am going to reflash my phone to see if it may be an issue with not clearing out the phones memory and storage first...
My wifi didn't work for a while. It would see my access point but wouldn't connect. Reset the router and everything went back to normal. GPS works, Stereo BT/OBEX works, 4G works, camera works. Those were my big items, as I'm sure they are most people's.
My only issues are that I can't switch to 2g (At&t rom....) and how friggin Touch-wizzy everything is. I was expecting them to embrace the whole holo thing a lot more, but all the buttons feel like they belong in GB, same with the notification menu and the settings icons.
EDIT: I am on rogers, in case any rogers people see this so they know that everything works on our network
i wiped via cwmr and reflashed the ics rom. notifications work again. have not rooted yet, wondering if that may have been an issue with it...
Changing the lcd DPI causes the rom to corrupt i guess, since when i do it, after the reboot, i get to the samsung "logo" and then black screen, and it feels like the device has shut down. The only app that would say "success" when i change the value is Lcd Density Modder.
- i had the notification sound bug, but then i changed the notification sounds to my likings, and then i used Audio Manager widget to set the volume loud, no problems ever since.
ok rooted and all is fine. maybe i just had a bad flash. my bluetooth speakerphone still doesnt work, but that is an issue that i will have to research
For me, i had the only issue with ICS (excluding the known thing with the keyboard not flashing) - timezones from 2011 year with wrong summer times.
Luckyly fixed it with timezone fixer from google play.
Tethering doesn't work, seems to be broken and results in a blackscreen.. Both Usb and Wifi Hotspot give this issue.. Anyone else getting this
One weird thing my phone does is when it's been asleep for a while, the lockscreen clock will fall behind and when I wake it up, it'll catch up a couple dozen minutes at a time.

I've rogers version but unlocked and working with a local carrier. Wifi is not a problem at all, i'm getting the same speed and used wifi continuously for over 2 hrs to download all my apps back after the update.
When typing with the keyboard, pressing the alt. Key once makes it select all the special characters. I liked the older one where if you press it once, it operates just once when selecting the special character, and pressing it twice makes it select more than one. Not that big of an issue but to some people it may be.
Also, the brightness thing. When I turn off the screen, and turn it on again, it flashes from the highest brightness to the current.

On AT&T here, and having wifi issues as well... Once the phone drops wifi at idle, it doesn't want to pick it back up unless I turn wifi off and back on again. Setting the wifi to never sleep has been my only workaround.
Also having some issues with the button backlights. If I don't touch the phone long enough for the button backlight to turn off, touching the buttons won't turn the light back on. Touching the screen turns the backlight on again, but it's slightly annoying.
I haven't noticed any wifi issues and I use my Glide exclusively as a wifi device. I'm copying my backup of Inception v2 back right now though because the battery drain on the ICS ROM is definitely an issue. Losing like 10% an hour with my phone just sitting there with the screen off.

Have you ever took note of your battery life with a custom ROM or kernel? When I picked up my Glide it had a stock ROM but I only had it for an hour before I put a custom on it. I didn't mess with the stock one at all so I can't compare to stock 2.3.5/6. But with Inception v2/ardatdat, it was definitely better.
I was going to restore my backup but copying it back to my phone made me realize how painful it is to copy backups with CWMR 6 compared to 5. That new blobs folder makes so many files that it took 3 hours to copy 3 of my backups over USB. Ouch.
But since last night, the battery life seems to be behaving better. Its been sitting here and not just dying. I'm wondering if it could be the battery stats file. Maybe I'll try wiping it. I'm sure once we get a lower voltage kernel and I can underclock with profiles for the screen-off and stuff, it'll be fine again.
Unrelated but has anyone taken a screenshot with the ROM yet? ICS is supposed to have it built in, power button + volume down at the same time for a few seconds from what I read, but didn't seem to work.
Edit: Its home + power button at the same time.

[Q] How long does your GNex take to boot since upgrade to Jelly Bean?

My Verizon LTE GNexus now takes 3min and 34 seconds to reach the lock screen.
I'm thinking a 'fresh install' of Jelly Bean will speed it up, just like a mandatory fresh install of Win XP at least once a year.

Randomly, my phone will take 2-3 minutes booting as well. 90% of the time its stuck on the Google logo. Other times it boots up in under 30 seconds. Doing a fresh install of the stock roms does not solve this. Neither does installing a custom rom.
Does anybody actually ever shut their phone off? This phone is so good it doesn't ever need a reboot either, so if it took 10 minutes it wouldn't matter to me. I hope you get your phone issues resolved.
Yes. I reboot it from time to time and occasionally the phone reboots itself. It's not a major issue, just an annoyance.

To me a phone that reboots itself is a major issue. I think your phone has some big problems.
In my past experience, dirty flashing causes random reboots. And some kernel/ ROM combinations and different kernel settings can depending on set up. I had the looooong startup time after upgrading to JB too, Jelly Belly and AOKP, but since flashing CM10 (CM kernel) it's damn quick. 30 seconds top every time.
DarkPA 2.50 with the latest jellybean radios and bootloader. From the initial boot vibration @ the Google logo until the lock screen takes a max of maybe 45 seconds. Usually around 30 seconds. Always nice and quick for me. I usually always run Franco milestone 6 kernel and I always clean flash. Never ever dirty flash lol

No, not at all. If anything it's better. Really the only time I've ever had reception issues with the Gnex was the few weeks I was running JB with the ICS radios (before VZW JB radios were available).

This is exactly what I'm running into. I thought I installed the update.zip wrong (I used OTA Rootkeeper, which also saved me from reinstalling CWM) because I didn't wipe before the update, but apparently everyone is running into this issue?
(VZW GNex that was on 4.0.2 and upgraded to 4.1.1 Stock, unlocked, rooted)
Didn't really counted the time.

galaxy nexus gps lock is terrible

Getting a lock for gps can take minutes at a time. Has anybody else ran into this problem? and whats the fix?
No...haven't had this issue in a while. GPS lock extremely fast on mine.
What ROM and radios are installed? Kernel?
Have you tried any of the diagnostic apps like GPS test?
...beamed to your puny "phone" by my Sourcerized Galaxy Nexus.
Mine locks fast but locks about 1.3 kms away lol

I had a problem like that about 6 weeks ago -- last a couple of days, and then somehow "fixed itself". No idea what the issue was.
I suggest giving this a try, however -- I've found it very useful:

It takes so long for me to get a lock. Even with apps helping. I'm on the latest paranoid android, air kernel, and I think the latest radios

I'm having the same exact issue, takes forever to get a gps lock, i've tried downloading apps, and it never seems to work, I always have to sit there for a while or restart the phone. Even clicking the GPS/location services on and off doesnt work. Has ANYONE figured out the issue yet??? I have the verizon galaxy nexus, stock, not rooted. I even tried factory resets.
You guys ever tried something like GPS fix from the play store, it was helpful for me

CM 10.1 stable randomly powers off phone & facebook contacts won't sync

I recently started using CM 10.1 stable after realizing that sprint/samsung is never going to update us to 4.2 and everything has been working great except for the fact that I randomly find the phone has turned itself off without any manner of shutdown animation. This never happens while it's in use; it only appears to happen when the screen is powered off. How do I go about fixing this?
Also, a much more minor problem; I can't seem to sync my facebook contacts. It says they're synced under accounts but they don't appear in my contacts.
I do not know why your power turns off.. maybe try a new download and reflash?
For your contacts, AOSP doesn't sync contacts straight through the app. Use a Facebook contact sync (I use Haxsync) so it syncs your Facebook.

I just put stable cm 10.1.3 on my buddy's s3 and it was working fine for 3 days. Today he woke up to a bootloop on cm spinning loading screen. After a few attempts to get into recovery or start phone it now does not turn on at all. Is there anyway to figure out what is going on? When connected to a computer it makes the noise on Windows as if you were connecting a USB device but nothing appears on laptop or s3.

Its either bricked or got "sudden death syndrome" plug it in without the battery then put the battery in . Red led should come on nothing else. If that happens its a hard brick

I'm still having this problem after flashing fresh MD4 with Odin, downloading a new copy of CM 10.1.3 stable and installing it. I THINK it may only happen when the GPS turns on based on battery stats but I'm unsure of whether or not that's actually the case every time.
This is the exact same problem I have with mine. I thought I was alone in this. I made a video on youtube of my phone on boot-loop for about 10 minutes before finally booting normally; it does this randomly. I posted on this forum, even offered a bounty, but a mod just tried to put me down by saying bounties are not welcome and that I should stick with what works for me, which will be Touchwiz. I do not like Touchwiz and I believe that the aim of this forum is finding solutions to help each other. I really felt bad because I know so many people offer bounties on XDA, why should mine meet with such scorn from a mod? Maybe because of my geographical location? Or something else? It nearly killed my faith in this forum, but then I did not start coming here because of one short-minded mod. I'm trying to learn how to build my own kernels from other AOSP sources other than CM because I discovered that the issue has to do with the 3.4 CM kernels changed around March this year from 3.0 version. If I am successful in this I will post up a solution that works for me.

[Q] Phone has been acting erratically since 4.3

I got the Galaxy Gear back in December so I had to make the jump to 4.3 on my T-mo Note 2. I flashed via ODIN and it got connected with the Gear and everything was pretty much fine, except that the phone was INCREDIBLY slow now that I was on a stock Samsung ROM. Well last month I was tired of it being slow and having absolutely awful battery life, so I rooted again and flashed Jedi Master X2, since it's the only custom ROM I could find that has Samsung's applications for the Gear and S-Pen. I had had a lot of success with Jedi X17-X20 and Jedi Master X1 so I thought X2 would be just as great.
Since I've put on Jedi Master X2 the phone has sped up a little, but there are a number of things that are very wrong with it. For one, batter life is even worse than the stock Samsung ROM. I'm lucky to get 6 hours with minimal usage. On older Jedi Master or Jedi X ROMs I would get at least 12-24 hours depending on how heavy usage was. Maybe my battery is shot, it's been over a year, but I'm not sure.
The second issue is the phone is still slow to react to input. Whether that input is hitting the power button, home button, menu or back keys, or touch screen, it takes at least 2 extra seconds to recognize input if the phone hasn't been touched in a few minutes or if I've been using it for more than 5min.
The third issue is the biggest: Every few minutes I will lose signal completely and it will say my SIM is not inserted. This is the most annoying problem I've ever had with this phone. I can't get through a single phone call without dropping signal, unless I'm on Wi-Fi calling and then there is an awful echo on the other person's end of their own voice.
Has anyone else had issues with updating to 4.3? How can I solve these issues? I really don't want to flash my phone AGAIN. I've tried re-flashing Jedi Master X2, and that didn't solve any of the problems.

1) Jedi Master is a work in progress with a very busy Dev. Try a custom kernel such as Agni from the N7105 forum and play with settings.
2) See above
3) Change SELinux to permissive for data drop issues. Can't tell you about sim card issue but it couldn't hurt in diagnosing the situation. Either do it in exposed or selinux changer from the market.

2 I would try agni kernel for note 2 7105 for better battery
3 Make sure apn settings are correct for signal loss issue
