I'm brand new to GS3 coming from AOKP on my GS2. I want to use the new JB search function (S Voice?) but my GS3 doesn't have a dedicated search button like my GS2 did and I don't know how to get that easily on AOKP for GS3.
I want to try CM10 and also codename android but don't want to flash them while at work right now and no access to my home pc.
If anyone has used these ROMS are they feature rich like aokp? I like features rather than a stock experience.

That epically sucks. I caused a boot loop on day one. Luckily I could still get into recovery and fixed. That's why I don't want to flash anything while I'm at work in case something doesn't go right.

The AOKP Rom seems to be missing some standard gs3 features too like face and voice unlock. The function to detect when you're looking at the phone for screen time out. It's like this rom is modeled too closely to the GS2 aokp rather than gs3 phones.

Day 1 of me owning my phone I came to xda immediately and did a search of Samsung Gaaxy S3 and at the time the interational forums were the only result.. I went there and found a nice rom I wanted, followed the rooting instructions using odin. Installed a recovery then flashed the rom.. needless to say, 3 hours into owning my epic phone I turned it into a paperweight lol.

I'm running the one dated 09/18 here: http://team-insomnia.org/GalaxyS3ROMs.html
No real problems to speak of. Apparently if you try to set a wallpaper via settings, the phone will reboot. But you can set a picture as wallpaper in the gallery as a workaround. Some of the bands that would normally show as 3G in the notification bar will show as 4G and LTE also shows as 4G, however the speeds are correct for the actual connection. One time the Play Store said it couldn't verify my account. I removed my account in settings and added it back and no more problems with that. Those are the only two bugs I can think of off the top of my head. I'm really happy with it.

According to their website the JB version is stock. I took a risk and flashed CM10 at work. I found a setting to remap hard keys so I mapped menu long press to voice search. I'm already pleased with that. ^_^

our rom does have voice search built in such as google now in jb and you can add svoice via debloated version, and so should you wanna use google now you can and you can use svoice should you choose for that in bloated version. enjoy and yeah you can remap it without any software via home button clearly go to settings and go to all applications and clear defaults for either velvet or google now or google or svoice and you're set with either or. enjoy
Best JB Rom
I have tried several, and drewgaren's latest JB Rom version 3.5 works well for me.

I just installed your latest rom, and cannot find Google Now. Or any of the Samsung apps, which I like. I started from scratch, and did a clean install, yet I still get forced close issues. What did I do wrong.

I had a droid incredible before this and we got pa port, the entire screen settings were completely than the pa jelly bean we had before this one. I haven't flashed this yet so I'll let you know if I need any help.

Its fantastic as of now, the only thing I'm disappointed in is I wish there was a way to enable a menu button. I'd like to change the keys too but that's fine if I was able to use a menu button. Other than that rock solid rom, battery is great too.

Is it all mashed together so that you can't slide to pick an option? If so then it has to do with the inverted GApps. All you need to do is take a Phone.apk (just any normal non-inverted one) from another rom and place it in /system/app and that should fix the problem.

That makes me nervous about this rom working for me or not. Does it also show you as roaming? I had that problem with ICS where I could only use 3 or 4 different roms and the rest would show that I was roaming. Never could find out why and only a couple other people even had the problem. Luckily once Jelly Bean came along I haven't had any issues *knock on wood*

BIG THANKS TO MOLESARECOMING FOR ALLOWING ME TO PORT THIS TO THE NS4G
ORIGINAL THREAD FOUND HERE
PER-APP-DPI/LAYOUT.
This is not tablet mode! Hybrid engine allows you to target apps individually. You get to pick their actual layouts which can tranform content drastically. Keep in mind, this has nothing to do with build.prop hacks or DPI changes. We list all layouts an app brings, you choose one, its as easy as that. It does not matter if your device runs itself in Phone-, Phablet or Tablet-UI, your apps will always look as you like. On top of that you can scale apps, to fit your screen, that way you can even bring full fledged tablet apps and make them run perfectly. Nothing will break, nothing will shrink, your market will be fine. Additionally we have rewritten many parts of the android framework and fixed countless of AOSP bugs to make way for these modifications - our "tablet mode" runs better on a phone than on a real tablet, that is guaranteed.
PER-APP-COLOR,
Paranoidandroids newest invention. Define apps in your regular hybrid panel. See your phone fade into the color definition of your current app, press home or go elsewhere and it fades back. Create as many combinations you like, you can even dabble with opacity. This feature is made possible by our hybrid engine, which is unique to this rom.
HOW TO INSTALL.
download rom
download gapps (skip if you have gapps)
place rom and gapps on root of sd
reboot into recovery
choose "install zip from sd"
choose paranoid-xxx-ns4g.zip and install
repeat for gapps
fix permissions
reboot
enjoy

TROUBLE?.
If you have an issue and you want to call our attention, here's what you do:
Try everything you can, find solutions for yourself. Wipe caches, revert all your settings you have made, go back to your stock Kernel, factory reset if you have to or reflash the rom. Assume that the issue is on your side and try your best to isolate it.
Search this thread and Cyanogenmods aswell (its our base) for possible reoccurences of your issue and hopefully solutions that may have come up.
If you think the issue is important enough that we should cease our work and look into it, post your issue, BUT ...
stay friendly, do not demand anything, do not threaten
explain your issue as precise as you can, name the exact apps and conditions that cause trouble, help us to replicate the issue right away. If we can't there's no way we can fix it and your post will simply clutter the thread
collect evidence, keep in mind this is a developer thread so even if you are not one, do us the favor and research how to record logcat. logcat is the single most important help you can give us to resolve your issue.

Well damn dude you're totally welcome haha, I was sick and tired of the lack of ROM choices this forum had to offer, and I like me some paranoidandroid, so I decided to port something to get me back in the dev game (I haven't done any development work since like last November) and in just a few short hours this happened! I do have one bug to report on my end, instead of it saying "Sprint" for the carrier labels, it says "Roaming Indicator Off" its a simple fix I should have it back to normal this weekend

Well looks like I overlooked that, yes 4G should work but I forgot to swap out the settings.apk with a stock one that has the 4G toggle. There are apps on the play store that have 4G toggles, I'd use "widgetsoid" because it puts toggles and stuff in the notification drawer

I was trying to figure that out before. I think it has something to do with the s5 launcher itself. There are a few apps it resizes itself. the accuweather and the calendar.
The resizable widget i made worked for a few, but on reboot the launcher broke them. So im going to try again after i get everything else done
Flashed the file it went fine but it kinda looks different

What:screwy:
I'm currently running just the stock rooted rom that effortless had in his instructions thread. I've not flashed any other mod than one I made for the 4 way reboot.
So I'm not sure man. I had one issue that I've seemed fixed. I had grumpy weather installed and it kept popping up unified daemon crashed. But I never saw that one
I know you know what your doing, so I'm not gonna ask if you screwed something up. Lol

When I installed the mod that was the only mod I had flashed lol

From talking to people, it should work fine. This doesn't touch anything that got changed

THANKS... I was going to flash it, but I was fixing my phone first, then my wifes...
after I get the backups done, I will flash it and try.... I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't affect anything else...
edit: just flashed it, working just fine... I use a black background, and all is good...
How do I revert back to the original? I'm running effortless rev6 with apex and it did something weird?
Seems to work fine on the stock launcher, doesn't like apex?
Well it's a Samsung widget so only TouchWiz launcher is all its gonna work on. All in all it likes apex just not for it?
@cbucz24
just wanted to give an update on this,
it has been working on all the new releases for our Tmobile N900T and also for the N9005 releases without issues,
I insert this on my own personal roms, what I do is, put this in my rom - accuweather apk, remove the odex file in my rom, since its a odex rom, it is just easier..
thanks...
just wanted to write this so others will see this on the first page, for whoever doesn't know about this....
I tried to find this in search but I wanted to see if there was a way to get text messages to show on the lockscreen like they do for the iphone. I have seen other Roms that show the number of emails and text messages in a little icon in the lockscreen, but I wanted them to actually show the full message. I have an app that has them popup over the lockscreen. Just curious as to if there was an app or mod I can flash. Im running Slimbean for the Tmobile S3. Im not sure is the SMS for Slimbean is considered ICS or AOSP, but it has the contact icon on every line of the text message conversation - no message bubbles. Thanks!
4.3 touchwiz does this on stock SMS app.. I've also seen this implemented on IOKP, and it works with 3rd party apps as well, you can show any notification on the lockscreen, but I'm not sure if its maintained any longer.. That's as far as I know

It's an option in lockscreen settings and/or messaging settings.
I used it once but you must not have pin or pattern lock screen, only swipe. Swipe likes to unlock my phone in my pocket so I don't use it.

If im running a non touchwiz rom thats 4.3, would I still be able to use this sms app if I flash it? I know there is the option in messaging to have it show in the status bar, but thats not what im looking for.

Unfortunately I can only find slimbean 4.4 builds on the official page. I'll have to try at lunch.

Well, I'll run a backup now and search later.
I'm on resurrection remix (4.4) right now.
But if you're on aosp you can look in the messaging app menu>settings
Look for something like this...

I have quick reply enabled and have the popup over the lock screen, but I wanted something like this: http://heresthethingblog.com/wp-con...xt-messages-from-appearing-on-lock-screen.jpg
I wondered if there was a rom that had this built in
Try C-Rom. I think it has this feature applicable to all messaging apps that I believe you are looking for.

What you want is SlideLock Locker. It's an app free in Google Play.
Nothing in settings.
Third party app suggestion is best answer.
