[Q] Rogers Unlock (Out of attempts) - Samsung Captivate Glide

I'm in need of some help. I have a Rogers Samsung Captivate Glide. I have succesfully unlocked the phone before using a unlock code given to me by the seller. I recently factory reset the phone and it asked me for the network unlock code. Since I was unable to contact the original seller I purchased my own code on ebay. To my knowledge the numbers did seem familiar compared to the last code I was given. Unfortunately it did not work this time around and I am now out of attempts and the phone is completely unusable and just stays on a screen that tells me to contact my service provider.
I have unlocked many phones before and I have never had a problem with them re locking after a reset. I did some research and have read that this is a known issue with the glides relocking after a reset.
Yes, I did double check the imei before submitting my order and I did make sure to enter the correct code. I also did some more research but was not able to find anyone with my exact problem. If I mised it I apologiize.
So basically my question is is there anyway I can unlock it by rooting or flashing a custom rom or something of the sort? Yes I am a noob.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

there may be a time frame you have to wait until it resets and allows use of the phone, if not, try rebooting into recovery and doing a full wipe/factory reset including wiping the cache. that might get you going.

It won't unlock now. You'll have to take it to the carrier otherwise you're out of luck.
sent from my Infuse running UnOfficial CM10 Jelly Bean. You Jelly bro?

Try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1860003

Have you tried the emergency recovery thing in Kies? That should wipe out everything...

When my glide got locked, I used this solution http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1595756
you might want to try it.

My phone's screen is stuck at opening htc logo. I never rooted it - shall I just flash it with standard stock rom? Would you please be so kind to point me in the right direction? Bless...

Try booting without the sd card.
How old is the phone? What happened / did you do (if such is the case) for it to get like that? Etc.....

Tried that before without result...also did a factory reset but to no avail. Phone was just over a year old when it happened, got it from my insurance policy so it's possibly a refurbished one. I can't remember doing anything to cause this...

Ok, enable USB debugging, plug the phone to the PC and then open a CMD ON the PC and type adb reboot-bootloader and once in bootloader type fastboot getvar all. You Need to post the INFOcidnum and INFOmain
How old is your phone? Isn't there still any warranty? If so you may try to contact your reseller, service provider or the manufacturer. If not glevitan may be your hero

Yes, from fastboot, plug the phone (You will see fastboot USB in red) type: fastboot getvar all
sounds like a boot loop?
try removing the battery, once you have done that re boot into boot loader from there you should see an option for recovery.you may want to do a full wipe and re flash the rom.:silly: keep in mind the initial flash normally will take the longest, best to leave it be for a few minutes while the phone adjust to the new settings, that sometimes will seem like you may have an issue, but patience most times is all that is needed.hope this helps.

Well....
1- over a year old bought refurbished.
2- he never rooted. We could assume that it is s-off from the previous owner but all of us failed to ask that question making another assumption that he isn't s-off.
3- he did a factory reset which didn't work (whatever that means with an s-on device / with an s-off device it really messes things up).
4- glevitan is here. If he doesn't know how to fix it (and from the few active members that tend to lend a hand in these type of posts) there may be just a handful who could help out. Hence, the OP is in good hands.
5- when someone messes up their phone without knowing what happened nor how to fix it, you need to give more detailed instructions on how to get it done.
6- I'm guessing that the info glevitan asked for is to find the correct ruu for the member to flash and to get his phone back to working conditions. If that doesn't work, chances are it's a hardware problem.

Bullet point, impressive. now a refurb with s off would mean a root from a previous owner?
"S-ON, which means it blocks you from flashing radio images — the code that manages your data, Wi-Fi and GPS connections. Switching your phone to S-OFF lets you flash new radios. Rooting doesn’t require S-OFF, but many rooting tools will give you S-OFF in addition to root access" So hince my question if attempting to flash a rom ,it would be a safe bet he would be rooted, because without it he would have no admin access, recovery or superser access and would not be able to complete the flash process.a factory reset would normally on a stock rom not result in a loss of the entire stock rom but only a loss off data i.e contacts apps etc. and with these things in mind it would seem to be a safe to assume its a hardware issue or a rooted refurb phone from a previous owner in a bootloop becauce a factory reset there would wipe everything?

Factory reset resets the phone to it's "as fabricated"-condition, wich means it wipes user data and cache on the phone. With or without root the procedure is the same and should usally not affect /system or /boot.
So we have to find out, if the phone is S-On/S-Off (phosphen, more information on the topic can be read for example here, second post).

Sorry guys, but before hijacking this thread maybe you can go and follow the discussion in the off topic thread. The idea here is to lend a hand to someone that is stuck and a noob and this for certain not helping him. Let's keep it clean....
BTW, the only solution in his case is to flash the OEM RUU or make a goldcard and flash an unbranded rom. With no s-off there´s no other way.

Network locked after flashing ParanoidAndroid 4.0

Hi
I just installed ParanoidAndroid 4.0 on my galaxy nexus and it all went well and I really like some of the new features.
After taking my SIM from my other phone (another SGN but running 4.3) and installing it in the upgraded phone I found the "SIM network unlock PIN" message on startup. This phone worked fine on 4.3 prior to flashing.
I have spent some time looking for the solution and have tried the following.
- Wiping and Reflashing ROM
- FuxkDocomoV3.1 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1548210 (keeps FCing, may not support 4.4)
- Tried to get Samsung_IMEI_Unlock_v1.2.2.rar as per here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LiduCD32bUE, but gave up very frustrated with the website and the adds/surveys.
- Also considered trying Samsung Network/Sim Unlock Code Generator/Patcher from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1731931
I don't have a problem paying a bit of money for an unlock code/application if it fixes the issue. I have read that 4.4 may have some type of region lock and I am worried that this may be the problem and therefore the unlock code will not help.
Does anyone have any suggestions of what else I can try or maybe a copy of Samsung_IMEI_Unlock_v1.2.2.rar. If a unlock code is required, any recommendations of which site I should get it.
I would first try out flashing a known stable 4.3 ROM first and see if the issues persists. If it still does, go and reflash factory image and see if its still SIM locked.

Sorry man. I'm not too sure. My phone never had this problem. And since you flashed stock 4.3, why don't you try flashing stock 4.0.4 and try the FuxkDocomo you mentioned. Back on ICS days, people used this app to unlock. Do be careful and backup your /efs using TWRP though before you touch that app as some people have lost their IMEI using that app.
Locked or Blocked?
This seems similar to an issue I had.
Before you flash anything else, check your IMEI number matches your sticker on the back.
I recently found that I had corrupted my onboard IMEI, and did not have a saved backup of this.
I had to ship the phone to a repair shop in Texas to get it repaired.
It seems I got lucky.
I contacted a few service provides either by phone or on their website until I found a record of the phones IMEI. Luckily it turned up on a provides website that supplies unlock codes.
I applied the code and it worked although I am pretty sure the message displayed after entering the code said something about unlock unsuccessful. I did a factory reset and it still seems OK.
Hopefully it remains unlocked now.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Bell S3 Unlocking Issues

Hey guys,
I've been trying to unlock my phone for a few days now. Long story short, I moved from Canada to Japan and now I want to unlock my S3 to use a Japanese SIM.
I bought an unlock code from eBay. I was previous running cyanogenmod but then I was told that rooting will cause issues, so I unrooted my phone after an unsuccessful SIM unlock attempt. (wiped the phone, installed stock TW)
Even after unrooting I still had issues, and was given directions for the Service mode. That did not work either. I have tried many different methods and troubleshooting tips and nothing seems to have worked.
Here are some screenshots of the debug mode, my phone details, and a simple root checker app I installed.
puu.sh/dPN0p.png
Here are some specs: SGH-i747m Samsung Galaxy S3 on Bell running official firmware 4.4.2
Thanks for reading, and I really hope someone can help ;_;
Does your phone display the correct imei as the one you provided to the unlocker? The imei using the dial pad is the same as the imei on label attached to the phone?

Yes it displays the same IMEI on the label of the phone, and when using *#06# on the dial pad.
Despite my flashing back to stock, multiple sellers I have been through on eBay believe my phone is still rooted. One of my friends believed the people on eBay are at fault.
I then bought a code from a somewhat reputable looking website (cellunlocker.net) and received the exact same code. They had provided some additional troubleshooting methods but they did not work.
So it just won't accept the code or the prompt to enter the code doesn't appear on the screen?

The prompt appears on screen no problem. It won't accept the code. Please refer to the screenshots I posted in the OP (the puu,sh link)
Is there some extra step I can do to get my phone back to normal? I thought just flashing stock and wiping data/cache would do it but I'm still having problems and I can't figure them out.
I'm aware downgrading firmware is out of the question, but I really have no options left.
I haven't technically activated the Japanese SIM card yet. Could that be an issue?
Did you restore stock using Odin and firmware from sammobile.com?
Don't attempt to downgrade if you have a 4.4.2 bootloader as that could brick your phone.

Yes I grabbed firmware from sammobile and flashed with Odin. I made sure to match the last four digits in the baseband of my phone which is FNH2 so I downloaded this one from sammobile
sammobile /firmwares/download/34795/I747MVLUFNH2_I747MOYCFNH2_BMC.zip/
On the Odin "Downloading..." screen, my warranty bit is 1. Could that be causing the issue?
If so how do I fix that
The warranty bit will not prevent your from unlocking the phone. When a phone is shipped, the warranty bit is set at 0. If a person flashes any non-Samsung approved software, it will change the warranty bit from 0 to 1. It cannot be reset to 0.
When flashing with Odin, I prefer 3.07. So you are just unzipping the file and flashing the tar.md5 file in PDA section? Try again but only check F reset time. Once you see reset in the status window, remove the usb cable, remove the battery, boot into recovery, do a factory wipe, and reboot.

Blah. Might just sell this phone and buy a Japanese one.
The only other thing I can think of is a corrupt EFS folder.

Thank you for all your help, hopefully no one else runs into thee issues in the future

Can Someone explain this to me?

Can anyone look at my screen shot of my phone specs and point me in the right direction to do a factory flash on my phone?
I do have a Best Buy store near me but there is no Samsung Experience Service Center.
Im not sure if I was looking for the right ODIN file
I thought that they locked rollback on coc5 and coc6. So if memory serves me correctly you can't flash vackwards. (Other xda members said this originally.)
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using XDA Free mobile app
I am intentionally staying on COC4 for this specific reason.
Thank you for the imput. No need to fubar the device then.
See for my unlock code they told me I need to do a factory reset to reset the counter for the unlock code attempts to be reset and if that didn't work to do a factory flash.. arnt they the same thing??

a factory reset can be done on the device and wipes personal data, while a factory flash is the entire system and partition is rewritten. i believe this is all.
Thank you. Ive done the factory reset but what I need to do is do the factory flash. The stock firmware that I got on the site here did not work. When I ran it through Odin it states that it failed. Any suggestions? Unfortunately the Best Buy in my area does not have a Samsung experience center that people keep telling me to go to.

OK it sounded like you wanted to get back to fully stock.
So you flashed the VZW radios and it stopped working? Not sure what steps you followed but the procedure is detailed in this thread and includes steps to reset your modems, which you will probably need to do to get things working properly.

NO. I bought an unlocked HTC 10 phone brand new. I updated the phone, flashed the verizon radios, s offed and all that jazz. It is still an unlocked phone, but it worked with verizon's radios for several months. Yesterday, I factory reset the phone because people told me I wouldn't need to reflash the radios so I reset the phone and now my data does not work (i.e. the radios aren't working). Not sure what I need to do to fix it.

No data does not necessarily equal radios not working. It could be a settings thing, especially after a factory reset.
Again, have you looked at the thread I linked you, including the OP which tells you how to enter the "secret menu" of the dial pad? Reset your modems?

Ok IDK how to reset modems, but I did check the secret menu before making this thread; I failed to mention it. The preferred network type is LTE/WCDMA/GSM auto (PRL) and the thread says "CDMA/EvDOGSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto". I do not see this option. Last night I went to sunshines live chat support and talked to beaups, but he sounded confused with my situation. Perhaps I was not explaining it clear enough. How do I get this "radio" to appear in the drop down box?

Ok IDK how to reset modems, but I did check the secret menu before making this thread; I failed to mention it. Steps for resetting/wiping your modem settings are in the thread I linked you, from the thread do a search for 'modemst1' and you'll see it.
Other than that not sure what else to suggest, but you're probably better off asking in that thread and perhaps @dottat can help you.
