Hi, I have been the happy owner of an international HTC One X for just over a month now. I'm from Australia and my carrier is Vodafone.I have been using the Lee-Droid One Xtreme Rom without issue for almost the entire time I've owned the phone, however two days ago some huge issues appeared.
First the handset resest itself, this had happened before but this time it was stuck on the "HTC Quietly Brilliant" splash screen. I tried to wipe the cache from recovery but recovery wouldn't boot. I plugged the phone into my laptop and used "fastboot erase cache" which seemed to work but did not solve my problem, still hanging at the splash screen.
I then noticed that my bootloader had somehow locked itself again so I flashed my Unlock_code.bin again, the handset displayed the usual prompts which I followed but when my phone reset I was greeted with the now familiar hanging bootsplash plus a warning about the ROM being for internal HTC use only.
I also noticed this message in my terminal:
FAILED (status read failed (Cannot send after transport endpoint shutdown))
Can someone please help me here? I'm hesitant to send the phone away because I unocked the bootloader via htcdev.com so my warranty is invalid most likely.
Thanks for your time and sorry if this is a duplicate thread, I had done a few searches already and found nothing that spunded like my problem though.
Did your bootloader say locked or relocked

Did u flash de cwm last recovery? There are some problems with usb, try to use another One, install drivers, restart pc.
Htc One X Venom ViperX Rom & Show-p Kernel
@KrisPerry - the bootloader says either :
***LOCKED***
or
***LOCKED***
***SECURITY WARNING***
@drangonesdenano
last recovery I flashed CWM 5.8.4.0
have tried restarting pc, no change.
i use linux so there are no drivers to reinstall.
none of the cables i have fit, but this is the original htc cable, it seems to be in decent condition, i'll try and see if i can borrow one from a friend though.
sorry for taking a while to reply to you guys, i've been having login troubles with the xda site. thankyou for your help thusfar. any ideas?
Try closing and opening bootloader again, then flash recovery if not working properly. Has to do with usb ... I think ..not to cable. Then tell us

hi, sorry for taking so long to reply, i have been having some major troubles with both my computer and then getting enough charge into the phone. i ended up writing this script:
Code:
#!/bin/sh
while true
do
./fastboot getvar battery-voltage
./fastboot reboot-bootloader
sleep 10
done
writing from a different pc with a fresh linux mint install i've tried unlocking the bootloader again but this time i'm getting this from the terminal:
Code:
./fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
sending 'unlocktoken' (0 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.009s]
writing 'unlocktoken'...
(bootloader) unlock token check successfully
FAILED (status read failed (No such device))
finished. total time: 9.179s
what do you think? i bought a second usb cable and have been switching between the two but it makes no difference... i can't flash recovery because the bootloader is locked and i seem to be stuck in a bootloop so i can't boot into CWM either.
i've been reading about people flashing RUU's, is that what i need to do?
Just a gentle bump on this thread, I've been without a phone for over a week now and it's getting pretty annoying (first world problems). Has anyone seen this before? What should I do? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers, Toby.
RUUs
So I'm looking into the possibility of flashing an RUU, what are my options for doing so under Linux?
I've found this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1465747
Has anyone used openRUU? Does it work for the HOX?
The only other option I can see is making a Windows virtual machine... My only concern is installing the drivers, will that work seeing as I can only access fastboot?
Also I'm not sure exactly where to find an RUU... I've checked out this link: http://www.filefactory.com/f/7cc7b2fbdd03c031/
but my RUU (1.29.862.11) wasn't there and I've struggled to find a download elsewhere....
any clues?
Any help would be devoured thankfully.
Toby.

The RUU doesn't do anything fancy, it just packages the boot.img, recovery? and ROM, and uses the same method we would use to flash the bits individually.
If there is no RUU for your version, I hope you took the advise of making a backup.

Thanks man!
So I've set out on a mission and made a Virtualbox Windows XP install, installed the sdk and HTC sync, configured the usb settings, and the virtual install seems to be able to detect my handset in fastboot.
Good times.
I was able to run all the fastboot commands I wanted, including "fastboot oem get_identifier_token" which wasn't previously working on the Linux side and now through some kind of voodoo works a charm under Linux too. After running this command I visited the htcdev site and requested a new Unlock_code.bin but that didn't work, still getting FAILED errors...
One thing I have noticed is that every time I run "fastboot oem get_identifier_token" I get a dramatically different token, wil this result in a different Unlock_code.bin? Maybe one of the will work eventually (doubtful).
On the other hand it seems that I've got everything ready to flash an RUU, I just need that RUU... So does anyone know where I can find it?

I've read this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/HTC_One_X
and flashing the RUU seems to be the only way to go seeing as my bootloader is locked and won't unlock. Becuase you flash RUUs with a locked bootloader right?
I've read about vodafone releasing this RUU so I'm pretty sure it exists, I'm just not sure how to get it.
I did make a nandroid backup of the stock rom, is it possible to flash that?
I don't care how much data I lose, so long as I get a functional telephone in return.

Hmmm, so you were unlocked but.now it won't unlock? Odd.
With a stock recovery, you should still be able to flash signed ROMs, perhaps not your backup though.
If it's not on filefactory, it's probably not widely available. Google is your friend, I guess.

yeah, weird huh?
forgive my ignorance but what exactly is a signed rom?
i'm not sure what recovery i've got at the moment, last one i flashed was CWM 5.8.4.0 but that won't boot anymore.. do i need recovery to flash my backup?
in my backup i have a boot.img, recovery.img the md5 sum and a few tarballs (cache, data, system), if i flash recovery.img will i get the stock recovery? or do i need an unlocked bootloader to do that?
and if i get stock recovery what can i flash from there with a locked bootloader?
you were saying that an RUU does the same things as flashing the components individually, but also you say that i might not to be flash my backup, so i'm a bit confused.... n00bdom......

A signed ROM is an official one from HTC, signed by their private key. The CID also has to match your phone. Then the standard recovery will allow it to be flashed.
I find it strange that you are locked.with a nonstandard recovery. I think you should get back to unlocked before proceeding.
Try unlocking your phone from scratch using the normal procedure.
Why doesn't that work? What stage fails? What error do you get?

I've tried this numerous times, everything works right up to the final stage. My device is recognised by fastboot, I can get the identifier token, flash the Unlock_code.bin, it writes to the handset properly, the handset displays the black screen with "yes" and "no" options and the warnings about voiding your warranty, i choose "yes" and the phone reboots into fastboot while the terminal reads like so:
Code:
writing 'unlocktoken'...
(bootloader) unlock token check successfully
FAILED (status read failed (No such device))
that's under Linux, in my Windows XP virtual box it reads the same except the final line is:
Code:
FAILED (status read failed (Unkown error))
I've tried this on two different PCs, one running arch linux, another on ubuntu 12.04, also on a fresh install of Linux Mint 13. I've tried every different usb port available and I've tried generating different Unlock_code.bin files - nothing seems to work.......

This may have something to do with my udev rules, these are the ones i'm currently using, I can't remember now where i found them but they govern how the OS handles certain devices. Here's my /etc/udev/rules.d/51-android.rules
Code:
UBSYSTEMS=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="0bb4", ATTRS{idProduct}=="0fff", MODE="0666", OWNER="tobias"

SUBSYSTEMS=="usb",ATTRS{idVendor}=="0bb4",ATTRS{idProduct}=="0c01",SYMLINK+="android_fastboot"
does anyone with some linux knowhow see anything wrong with them?
or am i barking up the wrong tree?

Does somebody know which official RUU can I install to my phone, if I have a CID: HTC___032 ?
I am asking it, because I have screwed up my phone a bit, and a want to return to stock. I do this PD98IMG.zip stuff, but after the blue and the the yellow bar have filled in the top right side of the bootloader, i says an error: Main version is older. I am trying the European WWE 3.12.405.1 rom, but I know that mine says I am on 3.13.0.0 in the RUU installer. What should I do?

I have read that thread (search for Ace advance hack kit AAHK link is removed form xda)
Then choose the option root.
A goldcard (goldcard creation process is completely integrated in this procedure)
Temproot
To downgrade the mainver on the device
A HTC signed firmware package from a suitable OTA update.
If he said fail try it again (me did it the 3 time)
When jou phone complete s- off is choose the options back the stock. You must have a ruu for that.
[ READ CARFULL THE MANUAL !!! You are not the first with a corrupt boot loader.]
Your problem is that you have it unlock with HTC dev. If you use that method you are not able to flash radio and kernels. Whitout the kernel he won't boot. Hope that that your helps

Running the hack kit is easier than setting up adb.
You could try uninstalling the htc drivers and installing them again, reboot the pc. And yeah, you might as well set up adb while you are at it if you really want to learn stuff over here at xda.

I have white screen pain....
Hello!
I've a HTC Desire HD and I want to root it.
I tried several ways, first one I used the HTCdev and got an error message "(bootloader) [ERR] comand error!!!" after the command "fastboot oem get_identifier_token", I tried find a solution and discover (i think) that I have to do a downgrade of my software that is 3.13.163.3 , to 1.32..
Than I tried to downgrade throw this post "http://igyaan.in/2011/01/5431/how-to-root-htc-desire-hd-included-downgrade-from-1-72-405-3-to-1-32/" but again got an error after the command "Cowngrade>adb shell /data/local/tmp/psneuter" saying "Failed to set prot mask (Inappropriate ioctl for device)".. On this one i couldn't find a reason or a fix for it..
And at last tried the "Advanced Ace Hack Kit", done everthing in the tutorial but when I open hack-ace.exe as an ADMIN gives me, one more time, ERROR ERROR ERROR phone no plugged in or driver not installed or USB debugging not enabled. I do not know what more to do...
the softtware information of the phone are:
Android version: 2.3.5
HTC sense version: 3.0
Software number 3.13.163.3
MORE: Baseband, Kernel version, etc.
Thank you for your time and I hope you can help me

That is a Linux bootable CD. Anyway, now it is late. The Hack Kit was retired today about 15 minutes ago, so you won't have the RUU to downgrade and you might get stuck in the middle.

The only available option now is to unlock your bootloader with HTCDEV, then flash a custom recovery and root files separately. You will not be S-Off, so you cannot flash radios and will need to fastboot flash boot.img each time you flash a new ROM. For instructions look in post #7 in the thread in my signature.

UPDATE: NO progress overall, but I've been trying fastboot, but it gives me a verify failed error
What do I do?
Hey guys,
I'm really sorry if this has been answered already, but to the best of my surfing, it hasn't
Any way, so I ran the Advanced Ace Hack Kit on a VirtualBox Ubuntu environment.
so it offered to do all necessary for a downgrade, and it downloaded everything and SUCCESSFULLY downgraded my device(DHD) back to Froyo
now, I tried rooting..
I don't know what exactly went wrong.. but this is the status of the phone:
As usual, stuck in white screen
I CAN access H-BOOT, and CWM is apparently installed too... so I'm guessing it's rooted
However, The status is still clear:
S-on
Please put me on the light here?
AAHK is retired. The files it needs have been pulled and the server take down. If you have CWM and S-On, I have a hunch your bootloader is unlocked. Is it? If so you can flash ROMs. For S-On, each time you flash a ROM you need to fastboot flash boot.img.

I tend to like doing this in a forum, because if I screw up giving you directions someone else will come by and say so. To check whether you are unlocked, reboot holding down volume-down and power. What does it say? S-Off is currently not an option and it is unknown when it will be one, but yes, S-Off is better.

What does it say? S-Off is currently not an option and it is unknown when it will be one, but yes, S-Off is better.

I tried using aahk a few weeks ago before I realized that it wouldn't work. The phone was soft bricked after trying to use the downgrade file. 5 hours of tinkering and I got it to - s off and root but all I recall is using a combo of adb pushes, super one clicked some aahk..
Basically I 'mashed the keypad until I accidentally dialed the right number'.

Hmm..
But what can I do now? And thank you for your prompt responses, but I haven't been getting anywhere..
For starters, all I want to do now is to get it working...
How can I do that? I'll give custom ROMS a shot once I'm done that..
Thanks
Flash a ROM from CWM. Then fastboot flash boot.img.

Hmm I found instructions regarding fastboot, but now it's a different problem..
<waiting for device>
i installed drivers, but perhaps not the right ones.. do I need any sdk or something? or any specific adb drivers?

Make sure the driver is installed when the usb cable is unplugged. That is crucial for some cases

If you are running it in windows environment, aahk should provide adb and fastboot command. Just run the hack.ace.cmd as administrator and after that just close it. It should be installed then. To check whether it is installed, just type adb or fastboot in command prompt. It should gives an info regarding adb and fastboot option..
But from your problem, it shows that the adb and fastboot is already installed, but there is a problem with usb connection.
The driver is provided in aahk inside windrivers folder.. Just install it with cable unplugged from phone.
@ Bananagranola, yes your right. I read attn1's post on his website 3 weeks ago about discontinuing and thought he already did.
I now recall my problem was the downgrade file not installing and issues installing cwm.
Inside the aahk I noticed flash_adb was set to flash_hboot which wasn't helping my efforts. I turned flash_adb on and I think that got things rolling. I still had to use super one click to finish the job but I read recently that flashing boot.img would have solved that.
I'd rather do things manually than automated but super one click worked well for me.

hmm.. but I'm soft bricked..
also now I made some progress: I'm able to use adb, but I get the signature verify error, meaning my bootloader apparently is not unlocked..
is that what it means?
and I'm using the boot.img from the froyo official rom..
please help! anyone?
Anyone?
Are you trying to flash a ROM? The boot.img you need is the one in that ROM zip, not one in a Froyo RUU.
I've tried to root my Desire HD on 3 different computers, just won't work. I've isntalled all the drivers etc to unlock the bootloader and the fastboot bit just won't work what so ever, any help?
First off all, how do you do it? You following a guide ?
Yeah. I've tried every guide on the forum.
I think the driver that never installs is the simple "android" driver. everything else seems ok. Also when I install the android sdk the folder for it don't show up anywhere.
But its definitely the phone. I'm also using Windows 8.
How are you putting your phone in fastboot?
Pressing fastboot on the bootloader menu... it's more driver/phone related i think

Assuming you installed your drivers correctly with HTC Sync, I'm betting it's a Windows 8 problem.
Can't be as I've tried it on a Windows 7 computer with the same result.

Linux maybe? LiveCD? If that doesn't work your phone is probably just broken.
Linux won't change anything, and the phone is working fine.

Specifically, your phone's fastboot would be broken, not the entire thing. Have you run a RUU? Has it ever been unlocked or flashed with a custom ROM?
If the drivers are fine and the phone is fine, they would work, wouldn't they? Between those two something isn't fine. So either the computer's drivers aren't working or the phone's fastboot isn't working. If drivers are not working, you either installed them incorrectly (which you said you haven't) or you need to use a supported OS (like Linux as a last resort). If fastboot isn't working, you either aren't going into it correctly (which you said you have) or your phone's fastboot is broken (in which case I guess you could try a RUU).
Note: do not flash a Froyo RUU on a phone running GB.
Another note: I strongly advise that if you ask for help in the future, you put details on all the things you've tried in your OP all at once. Then you get a faster answer because there is less back-and-forth.
Never ran an RUU. Might try that. And no it Hasn't

Your bootloader may be too old to unlock. What does hboot say? What RUU did you run?

It's a 2.0 HBOOT.
There is no 2.0 hboot. It could be 2.00.0029, in which case you can unlock it, or 2.00.0027, in which case you need to make a goldcard and update the hboot with a newer RUU (unless there is a newer RUU made for your phone, in which case you don't need a goldcard). There are more specific instructions around here somewhere, but you will need to search for them.
