[Q] Stock ROMS with Virgin Mobile - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

For some reason when I use stock ROM on virgin mobile canada, it's really hard to get a data connection. I can text and make calls but the data doesn't connect. On cyanogenmod i get data whenever it's turned on. Any help would be appreciated!

found out if anyone wanted to know, i just flashed back the stock rom and fixed permission and data always working again (Y)

No 3g/4g on Virgin Mobile s3 (4.3, slim bean rom)

I have a virgin mobile s3 that I just updated to 4.3. I then flashed the newest sprint slim bean rom. Everything works good but i get no 3g or 4g.
I tried using the apk backup and restore tool to do the fix on this site but my phone cant backup or write the apks it says it has no access but I have enabled root access as far as i know. I am not even sure if this is the right fix...
Dialing ##72786# doesnt do anything, it doesnt trigger an activation or reboot.

Sounds like your APNs are not set for Virgin Mobile, I have done some searching, too many different sites list too many different APNs for Virgin Mobile. I would say to call Virgin Mobile and see if they can help you set up your APNs correctly. Your MMS probably doesn't work either?

[Q] How to enable network data after installing Cyanogenmod CM11 M7?

I tried flashing a custom ROM for the first time last night and so far I am really loving it. The only problem is, after flashing the CM11 M7 ROM it wont access any data over the cell network. I did figure out that if using Titanium Backup I restore my stock ROMs 4.3 data only from the Phone/Messaging Storage (SMS/MMS/APN) then reboot the network data does work. However, this causes the SMS to cease functioning. As soon as any app (default messenger, hangouts, 2-3 others I tried from store) tries to open it immediately crashes. Interestingly, it also will not allow me to restore my SMS records using Super Backup at this point. If I go back into Titanium backup then wipe the data for this process then the SMS starts working again, but all the old messages have been cleared, and as soon as I restart the phone the Network data is not working again.
Any ideas on what to do? I am wondering if maybe I need to adjust something in my APN profile, though I have absolutely no idea where I would get the information to do this.
This is what I am working with:
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S3 i747 (AT&T) -- [though currently I am using a TIGO sim card in Guatemala, wonder if this could have anything to do with it? was not a problem prior to switching the ROM though]
ROM: cm-11-20140608-SNAPSHOT-M7-d2lte.zip , the Cyanogenmod CM11 Snapshot lte release from yesterday
Android Version: 4.4.2
Baseband Version: I747UCUEMJB
Kernel Version: 3.4.91-cyanogenmod-g9b9605b8 [email protected] #1
Anyways, only having one or the other of my network data vs sms working is not really an option for me, so need to figure something out.
Thanks!

I apologize in advanced for not answering your question.
Is your issue that you cannot even get a signal with CM installed? I am also having the same issue.
Did your phone get signal/mobile network with the stock ROM? I am unable to find out if mine will work right now because it would take me a few days to download the stock ROM image...
Will be following this thread...

Have you checked that the APN on your phone is the right one for your carrier? Google search apn tigo guatemala galaxy s3 Many useful results will come up.
Ok here is how this played out. I did just need to reset then re enter the apn info for tigo in Guatemala. I actually managed to pull this info out of my pre flash backup from when I was using the stock Rom, then wipe the data for the process mentioned. This restored sms functionality and I then was able to manually enter the apn info (if anyone needs the Guatemala tigo apn info just post here and I can grab it when I am next at my cpu). I find it interesting that the apn info was automatically present and correct when I was using the stock Rom, but when I flashed cm11 over it was not there.
Just arrived back in the US and popped in my AT&T SIM card, everything worked fine right off the bat with it.
In answer to your question, after flashing cm11 I did have signal, but only for calls and sms. The data component of the network was not recognized.

[Q] No data

Hey guys, need some help. Ever since I have used KitKat roms, my data has not been working properly. It would say that I am on 4g but when using any app that needs internet service, it would say that I am offline and not connected to the internet. I have used CM11 monthlys and am currently on Paranoid android RC2 with the latest Gapps. If I toggle airplane mode, I do get data but can lose it at anytime. This has been frustrating. Is this a problem with the ROM or the phone itself?

[Q] LTE issues after cm12 (virgin mobile a5_chl)

So as the title states I have the virgin mobile a5_chl variant and after flashing cm12 (build 05052015) I can no longer (or at least hardly ever) gain LTE signal back, no matter what ROM im on. It comes across saying I have no service and no signal and I can't text or call when trying to use LTE.
I have done the following to try and fix:
1. flash apn fix (obviously)
2. restore stock backup
3. try a different rom
4. completely RUU back to stock.
I believe the issue lies somewhere within the HtcOMADM_SPCS.apk but I'm not 100% sure about that. According to any thing i've found the HtcOMADM_SPCS.apk is the "vDM client" that allows for profile updates (when i try to do a profile update it either says vDM client has stopped responding or the the profile update could not be completed). I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the HtcOMADM_SPCS.apk but that only provided a fix once and when i rebooted my phone I lost signal again.
I'm pretty much at a loss as to what to do as virgin mobile gives me the usual run around that they are "having tower issues" so I'm hoping maybe someone on here can help out. If you need any further information please ask and I'll provide, I tried to be thorough when creating this thread. Thanks for any help.
BUMP / Can someone from VM USA upload a copy of the HtcOMAD_SPCS.apk it can be found in system/app/HtcOMAD_SPCS. It would be very much appreciated if you could
Same exact issue

note 2 sph-l900 mobile data unavailable after odin flash

dear all,
I need your urgent help in resolving my inability of browsing on my sprint note 2 sph-l900. I flashed the rom with NE2 rom (ALL_SPT_L900VPUCNE2_L900SPTCNE2_1561791_REV04_user_low_ship.tar). Installation was successful and everything worked well except for the unavailability of the mobile data and apn. Phone restarts when i change the network mode from GSM to CDMA or any other one (still mobile data doesnt come up). Connections optimizer (intelligent mobile network and wifi settings) reports a setup has not finished yet, try again later error message.
I can make and receive call, sms and everything seems normal apart from the mobile data.
goodmorning folks, 28 views and no reply. please can somebody help a brother in need. i cant use my sprint phone to surf as mobile data is not in the toggle
Happened to me too. Download the NE2 modem from RWilco12's repository, and flash it. You should have your data back. To verify this is the same issue, go to the about my phone section under settings and it should say that your hardware and software version are unavailable. If it says this, just like minded, flash the modem and you should be good to go.
