Hi,
I've just rooted the wifes Desire HD.
I installed Android Revolution HD because it's the most successful ROM the Development Thread. I picked this because I assumed it was the most stable & reliable custom ROM available.
My question is how does IceColdSandwich compare to Android Revolution HD with stability & battery usage?
Cheers
If you want 100% stable roms stick with gingerbread. All newer ones have issues because htc f'd us.

IceColdSandwich has gotten buggy over time because the developer didn't have a phone to test it on. It's not the most stable ICS ROM to use. The most stable ICS ROM is aospX by existz (found in the HTC Inspire 4G development forum), and the most stable JellyBean ROMs are codefireX nightlies and JellyTime. These are all AOSP ROMs, so you'll get a stock Android experience. Everything works on them including 720p video recording. aospX the most stable, while the other two are newer JellyBean ROMs and are still in a very active development/bug fixing stage, but good to use nonetheless if you want JellyBean.
There are a few ICS ROMs with HTC Sense if you like that, such as Blackout ICS XL, Virtuous Infinity, Sabsa Prime and a couple more. Since all these ROMs are quite stable for daily use, you don't have to be stuck with Gingerbread. You can use any one of them.
Trickdroid is a good and stable rom!

Virtuous infinity is the more stable and fully functional rom I have tested, but you have to deal with a little high battery drain

1) is already known that ginger is more stable of ics
2) virtuous infinity is quite stable and is full sense 4.
it is true that poor battery life with this rom, but you can work around the problem by installing the kernel beatsmode 1.5.
if you want to try the infinity I can post the kernel beastmode
we are here to help

You are right! I have installed this kernel some hours ago after reading post on the virtuous infinity thread and it seems to improve battery life.
This is my rom for daily-use: http://miuiandroid.com/community/threads/two-roms-miui-dhd-ics-4-0-4-2-9-21.18060/
rly awesome and smooth

Hey people. I just bought my Desire HD today, and just finished rooting it. Now, i want the most stable, and performanced rom. I don't want to flash my radio and all that, i just want something that works best (AND DOSEN'T CRASH)
Thanks in advance
Wow... Bought and rooted immediately...
I think the 2 stable one are Cyanogenmod and LeeDroid.
For sense Leedroid is the go. The other sense roms are perfectly stable and usable but Leedroid has a slight edge.
If you want AOSP then Cyanogenmod 6.1.3 is the only choice.

Latest radio will improve your battery life, so I would seriously recommend it
ive been using Android Revolution HD for a few days and its been great
great battery life and very stable its as stable as the stock rom
Hello guys,
I can't decide which Android 2.3 + Sense Rom I should flash on my DHD.
there are the following Roms to choose:
- LeeDroid HD 2.3.4 beta 3
- CoreDroid V4
- Android Revolution HD 4.0 beta 1
- VillainRom 2.0.1
- RCMix HD 4.2
Which Rom did you choose and why did you choose it ???
Thanks very much
VillainROM because Nathan, the maker of it, made also many very excellent ROMs for the HTC Hero and so I trust him that he'll also make good ROMs for Desire HD.
i had leedroid 2.2 and it worked fine. then i wiped my phone and installed leedroid 2.3, but only part of sense showed up on my phone! really weird. then i flased RCmix 2.3 and it works brilliant!
you mean RCMix HD 4.2, right ??
If you MUST use Sense (I dont know why...) The Beta ARHD 4.0 is your best bet. Its a good experience so far.
That said, I am a CM7 User, and I hate Sense, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
I had the same question some time ago and it's often a thing of personal decision. So you probably will have to try for yourself. All the ROMs have good performance.
I'm using Revo HD because it looks like stock but with nice tweaks.

I'd go with Revolution. Best Sense ROM IMO.

Only reason that I use sense is because I like some of the Sense apps(Dialer and messaging mainly)
I'd Choose either of Revolution or Leedroid , both are gr8 roms, the others listed Tbh i havent flashed those on my DHD so can't really give my opinion on those tilli try em out. i've used leedroid since v.1.5 and its been my personal fave one to use daily.

Actually I am concerned about the daily usability of the different builds and if it's worth to jump to gingerbread seen the source is a leaked build probably in very early stage. I would like to try it but I feel so confortable with AR3 ... Please someone tell me I would not regret it

You could always back up your rom before flashing ?
I would obviously do it, but I am so lazy that was wondering if this rom is worth it ... I promise I'll do my homeworks and let you know here if it is
Android Revolution HD 4.0 beta 1 without a doubt.
Beta 2 out tomorrow so maybe you should wait for that one to flash.

Any idea what time beta 2 is being released?? Im looking forward to going to Gingerbread but am completely reliant on my phone for work and dont have a spare so want it to be as stable and have everything working before i take the plunge!! Also does anyone know if the GB roms can be overclocked yet and which radio should be used??
Thanks in advance!!
Nevermind, just checked and Beta 2 is OUT NOW!!!!
I am using leedroid 2.3.4 beta 4 r2. The reason i'm running this is that i have used his leedroid vesion on my phone since i bought it, and that he is very quick with updates and fixes. Also lee's rom is always lightning fast!
Got a Desire HD and have to admit I am impressed with the stock phone as is.
However many have told me that going Custom is like day/night and have decided to take the plunge.
So many choices so please recommend a ROM for first ever flash. Prefer something stable, reliable and does not drain the battery.
Cheers
With the criterias you have I would go for Android revolution 3.5 based on software version 1.84. It's stable and a rom for day to day use. And you can get it both with sense and no sense.
I personaly are using Revolution 4.0 beta, and haven't had any issues with it, but a full version of gingerbread will not be available with sense before a official or leaked version.
But it's a lot of stable ROM's out there, so in the end it's up to personal references..
Good luck

Thanks for MDJ's great work! Very fast and stable!

if u want htc sense based rom that it has to be either leedroid v2.2.3 or android revolution 3.5
or
if u want a rom with no htc sense that it has to be cynogenmod7 for Desire HD
Thanks guys, simple straight forward answers.
Android Revolution 3.5 and LeeDroid looks to be the go as I prefer HTC Sense.
I have just install CyanogenMod 7.0.0 without Sense.
Everything looking good.
Phone HTC Desire HD
ROM CyanogenMod 7.0.0
Radio 12.48.60.23P_26.08.04.07_M3
HBoot 0.85.2007
Kernal 2.6.32.35-cyanogenmod
CWM Recovery 3.0.2.5 / Manager 3.0.1.4
ENG S-OFF / Radio S-OFF
I tried Cyanogen 7, coredroid and revolution 3.5 ..
And for me revolution definitely is the fastest, most stable. The other 2 roms showed my trouble in their first day, being sluggish or even hanging. But i've been running revolution without a problem for like 2 weeks now.
I only had the soft microphone and wheater problem. But these are known (do not occur to everyone) and there are tested and working patches out for it.
In a nutshell .... Am really happy with revolution 3.5
If your after the stock look, but customizable, and want the best battery saving Froyo ROM and kernel, definitely LeeDrOiD hands down.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
RCMix 5.95, running fine on my device, nice and smooth. Also used he latest radio file and RIL file to go with it, signal and battery both seem good to me.
I need my DHD for work, I have currently the prime Sabsa Rom 8.5 and I've tried a few and I can not find one that is stable, without restarts and without stay frozen, from time to time. I have bad luck or may not have an updated rom without these problems?
Any advice?
1. wrong thread!? how can you miss that lol.
2.something that you are doing is making the rom reboot or its a bug, post the problem to the thread. maybe they can help you
Wrong thread. But if you need stable rom you should try any GB based rom e.g. Energy, RevolutionHD,LeeDroid and so on. Do not install ICS based rom 'cause they are not stable enough for daily use or have some minor bugs which can drive crazy.
The only stable, fully working sense roms are the sense 3.x roms.
Affinity
Android Revolution
etc.
All the ICS roms except Icecoldsandwich have major or minor bugs like camera issues, dialer issues or non working headset buttons.
So, if you want a stable rom I'd personally recommend a sense 3.5 rom.
Try aospx by existz. I found it very stable. Ran it for weeks now issues. Now I have moved on to jelly time.
Sent from my Inspire 4G
try official cm7 or official HTC roms.
and move this thread some1.
the most stable ics rom I find is Existz AOSP. it's located in the inspire development :good:
In the end I did was to format the SD card, hacele one full Wipe, install the rom 8.0 and then the 8.5 and after a week I work very well.
Thanks for your interest.
Jellytime is very stable ive only had one reboot since i started to use it..
Hi, I'm back and I got my Desire Z back. Running Andromadus build 12, and I have some questions.
What is the best recovery out there? (I have goomanager installed and I would like to have TWRP, but I'm scared it isn't compatible)
Fastest ROM? I noticed that latest 4.2 builds isn't so fast, even with oc to 1.4 GHz, which worked fine with Virtuous Unity.
A lot have changed, you got camera working on Sense 4.0 and a lot of full Sense 4.0/4.1 ROMs.
I can be a ROM alpha/beta tester (I'm not afraid of bricks).
(Yes, this is a useless thread )

1. I use 4ext..love it
2. I would say gingerbread is best for stability and speed.
Sense 4 best was gen.y..but its only my opinion..sabsa prime not that bad too..
No offence, but I really really appreciate the developers work

4EXT cuz TWRP isn't there yet
CM7 cuz sense is slow as hell, and ICS/JB are still a little laggy/buggy

I use CM7, I used JB in a while, and it lagged more than Sense
I tried all the Senses and found (at least for me) Gen's Sense 4.0A was the best, and while it was useable for a DD, I still found lag in bringing up both phone and text messages, so back to GB I went.
