Hey,
will the fix described in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=972725 work for my desire a8181? it says it works for telus desire hd and I can't find information on whether it works for the a8181 or not...
If it's for another phone, then it most probably won't work. Try it out and tell us what you've got.

Hi all,
Since today my desire will show the uploading arrow flashing as if it is using data but the download one never shows any activity and no apps or internet pages will load. The app market says it cannot connect as if the mobile internet was turned off. My WiFi works fine but my mob data does not. Any ideas what the problem may be?

i had this problem with a de branded (with froyo 2.2 .ruu download) orange handset could not get it to work spent 2 hrs talking to orange about the problem no reason given or found, if i did reset then go into recovery console but do nothing for a while then battery pull it would come back for an undefined period of time phone ended up in a bowl of water orange care are replacing it
Thanks for the advice mate but I don't have the luxury of a replacement handset as I bought the phone off the net and stuck my own sim in it. Mine is a de branded Vodafone running 2.2 froyo Rom. Any other ideas that might help me cure this problem?

Quick update: the data seems to work ok on a g signal and the download problems seem to be just with the h signal downloads

Are you certain that it isn't a network problem?

This is what it is sounding like to me.
Phone, Vodafone and have them check their side? (Also, how old is your sim card?)
My sim card is about a year old now. Do you think I should be checking it out and possibly getting a new one?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I seriously doubt your SIM card is to blame if it was working ok previously.
One thought that does occur to me is are you regularly using MMS? If so, do you have a separate APN for MMS set up?
I'm just wondering if perhaps your phone is trying to send an MMS and continually failing.
Regards,
Dave
i didn't mean put it in water i just said that's what happened to mine so i couldn't get it sorted and looked like it would have been sent back
Hello,
I usually switch between Leedroid and AuraxTSense roms and they have been quite stable until the last few roms i have tried.....
Recently when i am listening to MP3s the phone either reboots or freezes and for the last two days using AuraxTSense rom my phone has switched itself off through the night and i need to remove the battery to start up....sometimes it will reboot while sitting there.
I also have a MIUI rom which i have been using and it works great with none of these problems.
Anybody got any idea to what is happening?
Cheers.
It's a problem with all desires. Look at the general section. They all start rebooting eventually due to a faulty motherboard. You need to send it to HTC for repair.

I didn't know that.
So i will need to unroot and will probably be sent back one of the newer phones without the Amoled screen?
I have UK T-Mobile contract....can anyone point me to where i can unroot my phone please?
Appreciate it.
Thanks for the reply
If you look on the den sections there is a list of ruus run the t mobile one with HTC sync installed. Should unroot. Call HTC they dont replace the phone only the motherboard.

Cheers!....will check it out.
Hello,
I've just bought on Ebay an HTC Desire HD New.
I've read some threats and I'm concerned about battery, is it so bad?
I have an HTC touch HD and I like it, but I think Desire HD will be a great upgrade, do you agree?
I want to test my new HTC (I dont want to be tricked) on hardware, is there any tool that can diagnostic me the hardware and search for any problem? Because I've 14 days to sent it back....
Thanks
Is it brand new? It can take up to a week to settle in.

The battery will be bad if you use 3G/HTCSense.com/GPS/Sync with always on. The custom roms provide a brilliant battery-saving boost to DHD.

Yes, its brand new, but the user had (0) feedback, but paypal cover the transaction.
It will arrive next week, then I will give some feedback.
Should I "install" new ROMs? In my TOUCH HD I have energy ROMs and they are very good.
When the phone arrives just use it, dont try and install any new roms or radios. Just get used to the phone and how it works/doesn't work.
Whilst your getting used to the phone have a read on how to s-off the HBoot and radio, root the phone and install new roms. Once you have all the info and the phone is going well, you can start enjoying yourself.
You should know very quickly if there is something wrong with the phone, but if you need any info or help just slap another post on here and people will be more then happy to help.
Good luck
Blinky
I've received today and its simply amazing and fast.
I'm still discovering all new functions.
Any software to have internet through PC? I have a MAC OSX, and I need to open the virtual windows to have internet on HTC (HTC SYNC).
when you connect your DHD to a computer a prompt should come up and choose Internet pass-through, or go to Settings>Connect to PC> Default Connection type and choose Internet pass-through
Yes, I know, but that works on Windows, and I need to work on MAC OSX, because everytime I want internet I need to open virtual windows.
There is any software like HTC Sync for MAC?

Does the wireless hotspot not work with mac's? Can understand why it wouldn't, acts the same as a wireless router.

I have a 3 yr old Ford Mondeo and cannot get my HTC Desire to connect to the built in phone system. All the other phones I had (last one being a Wildfire) connected with no trouble. The phone has it's moments when it decides to connect but these are very few and far between. Has anybody else had this problem?
Yes
I had the same problem when I first got my Desire. It was running 2.1 Stock firmware. (Virgin). I upgraded to 2.2 Froyo and the problem stopped.
Hope this helps.
Can you tell me how to do this please as I am unsure
same problem i have on my pioneer radio with bluetooth nokia was working fine but htc no i have froyo 2.2
you can try to go to settings>about phone>software updates
or maybe some custome rom?im gonna try to put custom rom with 2.3 and see if any changes.
Following on with this thread, I have been told by Carphone warehouse that this is a response to the Bluetooth hacking that took place recently. Apparently all Android phones will not Auto Link with bluetooth dvices. Has anybody heard the same?
I seriously doubt it. Think they're bullshitting you. What is you're firmware version?

Yeah, seriously!
I have always had good bt connection - stock, custom, unrooted, rooted...
Running Android 2.2, kernel version 2.6.32.15-gf5a401c htckernel18-2#1 build no. 2.29.405.5
Curious, could my radio version make it so someone with the same phone not rooted, same network is getting unsupporded media type message. I can receive mms messages from him. I am using the gingerbread Rom supernova. He is froyo unrooted, is that the issue perhaps. I am frustrated to hell, just want to know why I can't send pics to anyone.
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium
I have a friend who gets the unsupported media file type whenever he receives a message from a Samsung phone. and it's only one way. the samsung phones can receive MMS from the desire.
Tested so far:
HTC Desire -> HTC Desire works
Motorola Atrix -> HTC Desire works
desire -> atrix works
desire -> samsung galaxy s i9000 works
samsung galaxy s i9000 -> desire DOES NOT WORK
desire - > galaxy s 2 works
galaxy s 2 -> desire does not work
iphone 4 -> desire works
desire -> iphone 4 works
So from this what I think is happening is that the way the samsung phones are encoding, or whatever it may the picture or video file, is not working on the desire. even the simplest single picture file does not work.
Desire is on gingerbread stock.
any idea whats happening?
