I've searched and searched and haven't came up with anything so i'm resorting to asking. Was Running 4.0.1 AOKP and have been for a while with no problems. Just decided to flash ParanoidDroid so i ODIN EL26 it passed no problems, after phone rebooted it showed normal samsung boot and yellow triangle then screen goes black and it stops right there. When plugged into my computer my device manager recognizes it. If i try to boot into recovery it wont go but it will boot back into download mode. was it a bad kernal i flashed? Please tell me this isn't some sort of brick. I'll continue troubleshoting but any advice is appreciated.
Why not give a one click a go and see from there since you can get to download mode?
Or use pc odin and see if its just a bad kernel flash?
No blue light so id say your hunch is right.

Solid blue, hard brick. Seen some users talk about a blinking blue and were able to come back. Since you didn't talk about that, I'd assume you may be ok but try the one click.
Also, if you find that there are issues, crawrj has written a back to life thread. But it doesn't sound like you're there just yet.
Let us know after a one click try.. Someone may have additional suggestions.

One click says it was successful. Now it gets stuck at the samsung and yellow triangle screen, HOWEVER i can now boot into CWM. So what is the best/safest option at this point? Install a rom the CWM or maybe re-ODIN? I tried wiping everything from CWM but it didnt do anything. Thanks so much for the help

How long did you let it sit at the boot screen? Have seen it take 10-15 minutes before.
And if it was me, at this point id stay w a one click and not from recovery just yet.

Have been letting it sit about 10 minutes or so now. and i used:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342728
and just chose option C then OPTION F for EL26
Would it be an issue that i was running ICS and now Flashing back to GB? I have just read that when flashing a new rom always ODIN back to EL26 before wiping and installing new rom

I apologize. I was meaning a complete one click earlier.
But it does seem that you've got the kernel issue resolved.
So either you had a bad download of the rom you were trying from the start or a bad flash. I'd download the rom again, if you can transfer to sdcard via computer (if it has a sd adapter) and reflash.
Otherwise, id use this to get the phone in a working state. Then start again.

It can be confusing but when you flashed the rom from el26, you should have been left with the included kernel but it sounds like you had a bad flash.

Edit: wrong thread, I'll be back to answer your question shortly. Tapatalk flaked out on me :banghead:
Edit3: OK you may want to search for sfhubs factory reset from Odin thread and do a wipe through Odin and then use a one-click to restore a rom. Otherwise you can Odin el26+cwm direct boot, do a full wipe or run a format all script and then flash a twiz based rom through recovery, if you want an aosp based rom you'll need to flash a twiz based rom first, then boot up the phone and then Odin el26 again flash the aosp based rom, then factory reset and perform the wipes/format all script, flash the rom again and then gapps, wipe cache and dalvik and boot the phone, since your rom currently isn't full functional you'll need the twiz based rom to restore the system partitiom to be able tto flash a aosp based rom without receiving an error.

So somehow someway my phone is on the "Galaxy S 2 Yellow triangle with exclamation mark" screen and wont boot up.
I simply wiped factory reset, and dalvik ( coming from Caulks Rom ) and then flashed Blazer Rom 3.7 and it never went past that screen.
My question is can i simply re root on my mac and would my phone go back to stock rooted OS? Or do I have to restore it through Odin?
Note I did backup my previous rom!
Sorry forgot to mention I cant access recovery either! I hold down volume up and power and nothing just stays on the yellow triangle screen...

I would definitely recommend going this route. Follow the instructions in this thread it will help you to install ACS (CWM) Recovery.

for future reference recovery is volume Up + power. not down.
From the sounds of it id say you may need to flash more than the kernal I was in a similar situation where my recovery wouldnt work and I couldnt boot into the rom and I had to flash back to stock through Odin to get it working again. Then after that I re rooted and flashed a rom.

Im not sure, when it happened to me there wasnt a way. Its really simple though I mean when I did it I was back up and running, rerooted, and running a rom in about 10 minutes if that.
This is the file you would need to flash the stock tar file http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1409634 this is what I used then after I just re rooted.

Yes that guide is for rooting but you can flash ROM's with Heimdall too. Just do a Google search for it and you'll see. Either that or find yourself a windows box and ODIN a rooted ROM with clockwork recovery and then restore your backup.

I was on CM9 alpha 1 with the stock kernel
I tried to revert back to EL29 (via Odin) so that I could flash the new alpha 2
It boot-looped
I tried several different ROM/kernel/modem combos for GB ROMs (all .tar's that I flashed through Odin)
Still bootlooping
What am I missing? I'm pretty sure it's not completely screwed since it still gets to the 4G screen and then reboots
Thanks in advance for the help... and if there's some info that you need to help me just let me know, I'll pretty much be glued to the screen since this phone is my only one and I won't be able to use it till I get this fixed up...

I do not think it matters since you'll be using a one click, but since you said it was stock it's most likely on ICS. The one click method does everything for you so you do not need odin just download it, extract it to a folder on your desktop, and then click it and click it again, and then run as administrator. Plug the phone into the computer via USB make sure it's in download mode.

freezes at recovery in oneclick
so I dl the one click and it runs through for about 10 seconds then gets to the recovery labled in area next to the green status bar and yellow connected to port window and that is as far as shell go.
You must use a "restore " data one click file. You have no idea what was running previously on phone so you need to go with stock/rooted restore. The "no data " option cannot be used, it can only be used if you are staying on same build, example ics to ics or Jb to Jb.
Use restore and you should be good to go.

Make sure you are using a good USB cable that is plugged into a good port. Plug the phone in AFTER you have opened the One Click Odin package. You will see the COM port appear then you just need to click start or begin or whatever it says. Give it time to flash.

Ok so here is whats going on. There is this guy that goes to church with me that wants me to root his phone and his wifes phone so they can both use the WiFi Tether app. I tried to root them both on another computer because i did not have my laptop with me and i used this guide -->
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1726088
After i got done with Odin and the phone rebooted, i powered it down and went into CWM Recovery and the stock recovery showed up with the android man and the red triangle. No CWM whatsoever. i tried to root his wife's phone and the same thing happened and i did both of them on my laptop this time. But when i go into download mode on both of the phones it says their custom binary count is 2 and that the phone is rooted. Root Checker Basic says otherwise. They said they got these phones in December at the exact same time i got mine and i rooted mine fine with the instructions i followed in that link. does anyone know what could be the problem? i followed all the instruction carefully as well. Like i said, i got my phone at the same exact time as they did and i rooted mine no problem with the guide i used on here. Thank you for your help

After flashing the recovery in Odin are you pulling the battery while the phone is still in download mode, then booting into recovery? The S3 detests custom recoveries and you can't let it boot into its os after flashing the custom recovery or it won't stick. Also make sure both boxes in Odin are unchecked so the phone doesn't auto reboot after flashing.
Edit: I read that method you posted just now and it is very out dated, the newer s3 updates made it so the custom recoveries do not stick and the phone defaults to stock recovery, unless the battery is pulled while the phone is still in download mode, and then booted into recovery. Make sure auto reboot and f. reset time are UNCHECKED
Also, might I suggest this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2011491. You don't need to use TWRP you can still flash your cwm recovery
Make sure your friends' phones are on Sprint as well

Yes. In step 12 on the post you linked, the "power down" needs to be done by pulling the battery. The thread you posted is good, but I prefer the method in this post, as it both explains what's going on and it the formatting is more clear.
Hope you get it rooted for your friend!

Yes. In step 12 on the post you linked, the "power down" needs to be done by pulling the battery. The thread you posted is good, but I prefer the method in this post, as it both explains what's going on and it the formatting is more clear.
Hope you get it rooted for your friend!

Yeah your mistake was allowing the phone to reboot after the odin flash. Make sure you remove the check mark from the reboot option in odin.

Alright thanks everyone for your help! i will tell you if it works. i just unrooted my phone and returned to stock and im going to use the other guide you guys told me to use on my phone first just to make sure nothing bad happens like a hard brick. I would rather brick my phone than someone elses phone any day:fingers-crossed:
will any of these guides root 4.1.2? thats what is keeping their phone from rooting i just found out because i just got my replacement SIII from Sprint and it has android 4.1.1 and i rooted it fine with the guide i used on theirs so it has to be the 4.1.2 update

Okay this is a little late lol. Can I just uncheck f. Reset and auto reboot and not pull the battery or do I have to do both?

You have to pull the battery excuse you need the phone to shut off so that you can boot into recovery.
Have a great day!
