[Q] Sol Republic Amps HD volume button on Android device? - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Is anyone know how to make the volume buttons work on Android cellphone?? (I have the Samsung Galaxy S3 AT&T version)

If it was designed for apple then it probably won't work.

Awwww damn it! Why only for Apple!! anyway thanks for the reply, and hopefully there will be some program to make it works later

Apple makes their own standard for headphone controls when there is already a standard utilized by every other phone in existence.

I remember reading a thread explaining how to change some of the button mapping for android (may involve a text editor if you're familiar with them).
That may be what you're interested in. Of course try the app mentioned above too.

Alternative Screencast app?

Like the title says does anyone know of a alternative app to screencast it seems like it is taking them forever to make it work on our Gnex?
Have you tried the built in screenshot taker by hold the volume down and power bottons?

Yes that ability to make a recording
Screencast
According to the developers, the GNex is at the top of their list for updates. However, you are right that it is taking forever. I too, would like to know if there is anything else out there to use.
wow ... so far nothing on screencast and Galaxy Nexus? This is taking forever!

Being able to control the phone over WiFi / 3G would be a welcomed feature that I miss from the pre-ICS era...

It sucks that it's taking so long. I bought a screencast app that works on my old HTC Desire for when I need to record things, hopefully one comes up soon.
Its September technically the end of the year. And the developers have had the Galaxy Nexus on their "top" priority since last 2011. I wonder what's taking them this long? Is it impossible? Instead of keeping us waiting for a fix why not tell us that it isn't possible.

Really no other apps that can do video exist? Thats sad.
I hope FRAPS bring something out for mobile devices. They are good on PC and think they could do good on mobile too

Use iPhone In-Line Controls with Android!

I found this really neat tutorial on how you can make the in-line controls for iDevice intended headphones to work with Android. I haven't tried it yet, as I want to make sure I find a backup cable for my headphones in case anything goes wrong. I may also just try to find some crappy iPhone buds to try it out on first.
All you need is a steady hand. So here is the how-to link:
http://www.instructables.com/id/Galaxy-Nexus-and-others-headset-remote-with-medi/#step1
If anyone does this I would love to hear how it works, as it would be awesome to finally have the volume controls working on my headphones.
It does list incompatibility with the Galaxy S, but doesn't mention the SII, and it does work with Galaxy Nexus, and the Note, so I'm assuming it will work with the SII.
If anyone tries this out, definitely post your results!
It works with any headphones that have a mic, just check on the box because some will say if they say if they are compatible with Android features,. The ifrogz work really good! But i do have a pair of the inline iphone control head phones well give them a shoot and see how it works and try the way you posted

+1. I had to install a signed headset mod to my rooted device to get it working though. Although, initially I used JAY's Headset Controls until they kept crapping out with the volume. Now I use the app recommended above. I bought it and it is worth it.

Did you try a different headset? My bluetooth headphones can play/pause, track up/down, control volume

However, volume up and down will never work unless it was specifically designed for the android.

Hi,
I have ie8i from a long time, I mean I am using since I bought Galaxy S1 from Sprint.
Right now, with Galaxy S3, only the pause button works. You cannot increase or decrease the volume and also you cannot answer the calls.
I want to place a bounty so that some one can come up with an app or something to make them work perfectly.
Regards
Sai
Oh well quality pair of headphones not make or break for me.
The app sounds like a good idea can it be done?
Oh and does the Mic work ?
Thanks for the help!

iSheep have different mentality. At least where I work... "But... wait... how... Wait a minute, I can jailbreak and do the same, just watch me"
I am not holding my breath.
I work at JCPenney's and with former apple bigwig now running the show here, its amazing how many problems I encounter daily with CR-apple devices...
I just want to pull Ron Johnson aside and tell him to invest in XDA Devs to manage competent android devices... been waiting months for any new app, and the ones we do have have are in serious need of updating(months overdue)... to think how fast devs get things accomplished for practically nothing on XDA, while apple devs under contract with JCP take months to get anything done is a travesty

You have to use the Samsung default keyboard, it'll float over any input field and you can move it around

First, be sure to have both apps opened. Then, on one of the apps touch on the typing area, to bring up the keyboard. Write at least one letter, and it should be able to float around. I tried to make it float without writing a single letter and it won't. Maybe it's just me, but it worked as described.
Cheers.

I wouldn't be surprised if a jailbroken iPhone could do that. And it'd be worth more in 2 years - and it'd still be getting software updates too, which I'm almost positive our Note 2s won't be getting in more than a year. >>
However, one thing the Note 2 can do that the iPhone will never be able to do is use a stylus like the s-pen. Sure, you can use a stylus, but it's like drawing with preschool crayons.
Just thought I'd be the voice of reason here lol

I don't have a note 2. I have an iPod touch and an Atrix 4G.
Apps on the iPhone can't resize. There is no framework for it. Even if it were possible the screen is too small.
Also I haven't seen any alternative keyboards.
The iPhone has a solid, simple, smart experience, however it does not have the potential of Android. An iPhone looks nicer, works seamlessly but isn't as capable as an Android phone.
