Hi I was just wondering if there is any way to unlock the bootloader on the R800at. I know you cannot normally do it but what if I flashed a ROM with flashtool that was of a PLAY that could be unlocked? (i.e. R800i, 4.0.x firmware) sorry if this sounds like a noob question :-/
Sent from my R800at using xda app-developers app
You can only unlock via testpoint unlock, which costs $24. Flashing different firmwares won't do anything to help you there. You can do the testpoint unlock here: http://unlock-bootloader.com/
i don't mean to be rude, by commenting on someones post, just didn't see the point in making a new topic if there's already one here.
I have the R800i, I am happy with my play but if i wanted to unlock my bootloader, what would i have to do, is this possible, can i do it myself? or would i have to pay for someone to do it like above?

Now, I might be wrong here, someone correct me if I am, but from what I've been told. The R800i isn't locked to any specific carrier, therefore it can be unlocked for free thru a computer program.

most of r800i can be unlocked for free but some with bl unlock allowed= no(type *#7378423*# see in configuration) cannot be unlocked for free they require se tool to unlock via testpoint. and carrier unlock is completely diff from bl unlock
Edit: actually its *#*#7378423#*#* [service] and you dont have to hit call button after that it automatically opens configuration
What would you need to use to unlock the bootloader of the R800i?

Your bootloader is obviiously locked end of story. There is a number to check if your bootloaderr on the xperia play but you have do a search on the threads.
I tried that I just get invalid mmi how do I go about getting it unlocked? It doesn't look like I can do it

There is a way to find out if your bootloader is unlocked if it says no you can't do it yourself but can pay for it, if it says yes you can do it with software, but when i enter the numbers to bring up systen config to find if it's unlocked it says it's 'connection problem or invalid mmi code'? i must be missing out something but i have tried loads of times.
I have tried getting it up using '*#7378423*#' and '*#*#7378423#*#*'
I don't know, have you tried googling the issue?
*#*#7378423#*#* works fine for me

Are you pressing call one you enter the number? You shouldn't do this, the service menu should pop up by itself. Also, try entering the plus sign before entering the code (although I'm not sure this will work) or try to enter a comma after the code
You could also try asking in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1662199
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using xda app-developers app
I enter the code leave it the code disapears and just leaves the dialler, nothing happens!
Have you tried the other 2 things?
Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app
Thanks for your help, i have tried the + first it doesnt do anything and i cant find a comma on my dialler, what if i just go ahead and try and unlock it?
I don't know the answer to that, sorry.
The other thing i can advise you is to try googling the issue and making absolute sure you are typing the code in right

If you are sim locked then dont try it bcoz you can loose phone singnal even if you unlocked sucessfully and if not after repairing it you will have no signal
edit: just realized you have r800i i.e not sim locked probably so you can try unlocking it if anything goes wrong ther is a fix for it too. most probably semcboot can be damaged which is less likely to happen
then also I say try it at your own risk first double check everything and try to type *#*#service#*#* again and again:-/

Hey guys I unlocked mine using software unlock. It did a temp root then changed the unlock code to "00000000".
I paid to get it unlocked with the tool.
I want to start a thread that everyone does memory scan and dumps. That way we can try to start
Unlocking our Devices free. Now I can't do one on mine since its pointless since mine was made into 0's.
For those of you who have unlocked it already and k ow your unlock code or are wanting to unlock it I encourage to do a memory scan and a dump.
Now I suggest using CDMA workshop or using QXDM to scan the memory.
You are going to look for it both in hex and plain text.

Also installed the samsung drivers from the link qxdm and qpst.
When I connected my phone, it installed several new drivers on Windows. However it couldn't find one driver for device Android ?
Also I'm new to all this I don't know how to use QXDM, can you post a step by step guide for it? Also once I'm done, should I set back USB to PDA (on *#7284#) ?

Sounds like you are missing the ADB driver. What I have done to get the adb driver to load properly, is to plug phone in and make sure I get the "typical usb" message in phone. Disconnect cable and reboot phone. Reconnect cable and see if windows loads more drivers. Those would be the "adb " drivers.
I have adb on my PC's which does download Google drivers as well.

Hey guys sorry for the no replies. I am currently on vacation on a lake in North Carolina and the wife complains when I try to get on the laptop lol.
The point is to try to understand where in the Memory the Lock code is stored.
That way we don't have to visit sites and request unlock codes both paid and free.
That way we can do it ourselves.
And about the Android Driver he is right. Im about 99% sure you are missing the adb drivers.
Thank you all for helping out. As soon as I get back I am going to connect and try to see if I can find my unlock code which was reset to 0's.
And yes its safe and permanent when you make it all 0's.
Well back to vacation.
Again thanks to all for helping while I am away
Waiting for the free unlock code too. If you can figure out, please post it. Have a nice vacation.

This seems like its a similar process to the galaxy s 4g. on that phone you would create a memory backup up file through terminal emulator using some commands. i would make a .bak file that you would scan with a hex editor on the pc...

If any one out there had their phone unlocked by a code and willing to share phone's NV items through QCN file (please remove sim before extracting QCN), I can compare them to my locked version and see what items are affected.
Please DO NOT POST your QCN files here instead go to text tab in QCN view and copy all content except address 550 and send it me.

I guess @davidreavis is looking for differences in unlock.bin and "lock.bin".
So maybe it's possible to find out what makes a locked bootloader to an unlocked one.:fingers-crossed:
i think in the unlock.bin is the Device-ID included and when you start it, this check if the Serial to the Emei is correct
When i have right and the Device-ID is included and it will it replaced to the own Device-ID... with Hex-Editor i think this can work. But i find its a very hard risk and can produce hardbricked devices...
good luck
