I've searched and haven't found anything. Any development for the HTC Desire 4G? Attached a screenshot. Is this device known of yet really?
There is no Desire 4G. You might be thinking of the Inspire 4G which is the 4G variant if the Desire HD.
Sent from my inter galactic super fantastic communication device.
He's talking about the rumoured HTC device headed for Verizon wireless in the us. I haven't heard anything new outside that screen shot that was released with that name.
Also I wouldn't say the inspire is the 4g variant of the dhd. Same phone just att decided to the 4g moniker to it. Its like the memory debacle. If anything I'd call it 3.25-3.5g max

My bad
If the I4G is just a DHD with AT&T branding then why do people have to flash things like the I4G sound fix (using JellyTime as an example)?

Slight differences. For one the inspire has a dual mic and one or two other things.

Mind posting pics? Where you get it. What carrier? As it was just announced for celcom.
You might also want to check out the Droid incredible 4g forums. Maybe this rebranded device will help them out with root and unlocking the bootloader

Alright. Basic pics of the device are attached. Along with a few screen caps from the about section.
I have an international GS3 and a Nexus 7 and I have to say, this device is really holding its own. At stock none the less! It has not disappointed me once.
Ok, cannot attach from app apparently... Lame? Will hop on chrome and attach in a couple minutes.

Have you tried unlocking the boot loader via HTC dev? You should definately post the Droid incredible 4g late forums. Maybe a dev can find a work around like what they did for the att one x to unlock the boot loader for them
Looks like a DHD with a sensation-like back cover. 1 GB RAM, a dual core processor and sense 4.0 sounds appealing

I have successfully unlocked the boot loader from HTC Dev site, but am unable to find a way to root the device.
I'm itching for some Su, so if anyone has any ideas on how to do this, please post or pm me.
I wad thinking of trying a droid incredible 4G TWRP recovery, but need a way to backup at least my recovery IMG first in case it doesnt work. Ideas are much thanked
Update: Great News! I have successfully flashed TWRP 2.1 to the Desire 4G! I used the toolkit found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1758682
Rebooted the phone and adb recovery into TWRP. Performing a Full Backup right now, will attempt to use the same toolkit to do Perm Root and report back. I'll try a DI4G kernel once I confirm the backup/restore process is all working correctly. I have to no RUU for this thing, so I can't get to crazy.
Well, can't flash DI4G kernel, but can get supersu via that link. Backup and restore from twrp seems to work ok, although I have lost mms capability(sending and recieving). Not sure what happened, only thing I can think of twrp. I hope I can get an ruu and reflash to stock. Otherwise I'm SOL

im a total noob to development but i decided i would at least give it a stab.
but looking into the build.prop, it looks like its not going to be easy to port. the build.prop is saying its for an hdpi phone "ro.product.locale.language=hdpi"
im going to continue playing around in the kitchen and see what happens though
Edit: Im not sure why it said hdpi there. looking at the build.prop on cyanogenmod in says 'en' which made more sense since that line looked more like language. still unsure what im looking at though :/ lol

Awesome that you are trying!
We got yer back.
The wildfire's res is 240x320 which is QVGA, not the same like our phones.
So it is like the htc tattoo which was hard to port since the res was lower than the 320x480 used at that time.
Yes the OG Wildfire is QVGA but the Wildfire S is HVGA...actually the Wildfire S is almost the same phone as ours but without the keyboard. Same res and same processor (if I remember correctly).

interesting.
Is it possible to get htc flash lite frameworks from Wildfire S and mix it in CM7? That would be the best ROM ever. I don't need Sense ui, all I want is flash as it used to be back on 2.1 stock fw
no progress...i was going to work on it this morning at work (slow day) but linux is not booting after the update i got last night (dual boot). so instead im reconfiguring my computer and re-setting up ubuntu
I'm patient.

Yeah it has FB button plus same specs as us...Excluding addition of BT 3.0 instead of 2.1(corr if MTS has 3.0 BT).
Yes but that one won't be out for some time since 2.4 won't be released til May. The Wildfire S Rom is out now and is based off 2.3.2 AND has Sense 2.1 on board. It'll be a huge source for things to use in Sense and Non Sense Ginger Roms. Plus Wildfire S is supposed to launch with 2.4 as well.
Finally got linux running on my pc again and had to start porting (attempting) from scratch. I did everything i could think of then signed and flashed it. Good news is, it installed. Bad news is that got boot loops. I'll work a little more with it and do some more research and see if any progress can be made.

Houston, we have lift-off! I got it working! Testing everything right now to see what works and what doesnt. Only drawback is that HTC has a watermark that is constantly on the screen. It doesnt make it impossible to see what your doing, its just annoying. Will make sure thats one of the first things to be fixed.

Ok, here's the deal. Let me start off by saying that I am no idiot, I have been a tech for 15 years and this is the first phone that I've had a problem with.
I have an incredible that I want to root then flash to metroPCS. I first tried unrevoked and it said that my firmware was too new. So I figured I would try to downgrade my bootloader after googling the error. I tried literally every set of directions that I could find.
If anyone could help me I would appreciate it.

I can only help you root your phone, I don't know anything about flashing to another carrier. What is your phone setup android version, etc?
If you are on Gingerbread (2.3.4) then you can follow this thread by Scotty1223. It is the only way to root Gingerbread that I know of for the Incredible.

Read First
No offense, but 15 years does not mean you know everything.
I explained that I routed three phones, and unrevoked said the same thing at first.
You have to read the entire document and then do all the steps that are like 5, then run the unrevoked that is the last.
The document is attached in Word.
well i recently got a g2. it is currently unlocked but i want to get it rooted too. will the rooting affect the status of it being unlocked? it is tmobile branded so i am guessing it will unlocked by typing in a special code? thanks. also how can i root the phone? just send me a link. i am experienced in rooting as i have a rooted epic 4g and also my girlfriend galaxy 2.
No rooting and unlocking are two seperate things and don't affect one another. Not @ a computer so just google the link try "htc g2 root wiki" will be one of the first hits I'm sure. Read first make sure you understand, having said that its safe and easy

Hi! I just got a new HTC One V and I like the phone a lot, I just don't like sense much at all and I feel like it is probably slowing the phone down.
I've rooted and put custom ROMs on both my Galaxy Nexus and before that my Motorola Droid 1, and I remember on the Droid there was a great ROM that was tweaked for squeezing the most performance out of the device, while eliminating those parts of the OS that hog memory and do nothing useful, like fancy graphics, etc.
Can anyone suggest a ROM that gives snappy performance. I would give up fancy graphics and transitions for just a plain and simple clean look with fast and accurate response from the phone.
I like CM but I'm not sure that would be the right fit, considering that this isn't the fastest phone, and I would rather it be fast and work, than slow and feature rich.
Thank in advancec.
One question. From gnex to HTC one V? Quite a few of us went the other way around. Why did you take this step?

I am working in a different state than I live, and I might be here for 6 months to 1 year, and my normal service provider has poor coverage where I am at, so I got a pay as you go phone from a small local provider for the time that I am working here. I got the One V because it was on sale and I figured I could root it and get this little phone to work really well for me.
Ah that makes sense. Well you should go for Sphongle. It's the best rom for hov right now. It's in the original development section. I'm assuming you know how to flash since you got a gnex too.

I do, but it has been a while. I was reading over the instructions and they seem pretty straight forward. I did want to check to make sure that the files for flashing recovery etc listed in the sticky are the newest versions?
Also, is TWRP2 the best recovery image for CDMA One V?
Can't help you with CDMA. I had a GSM. So scrap the Sphongle part than too. Just assumed you had GSM.

Oh, OK
I see CodeFireX for PrimioC is the next post in Original Development, maybe thats a good one.
Does anyone have any experience with a fast rom for CDMA?
Slimbean seems good. It's in the CDMA section. But for people that actually used it you'll have to wait a bit longer probably. Since the people in the USA are at work now.

I would dare say the EVO is legendary in its own right. It was the first 4G phone on Sprint, and was pretty revolutionary for its time and the first EVO in a line of good handsets to carry that name. The phone had a ton of development for it, and it still has support to this day. The biggest problem is the lack of driver support for both WiMax and the FFC, as I've already mentioned.

I am purchasing a new LCD and digitizer for my evo 4G (supersonic) since the screen got destroyed right before I bought my Evo 4G LTE (jewel). I wanted to see if there were any plans for a kitkat ROM for the evo 4G because I recently installed android 4.4.2 on my roomate's kindle fire and it runs amazing! I heard Google was trying to make kitkat run better on older devices. I think 4.4.2 could be great for the Evo 4G. I have high hopes that when I fix this phone someday there might be a 4.4.2 ROM available. I miss this device and the community that came along with it. Can't wait to get back into playing with this device again haha.

I don't see why it should be too hard to 'skin' a Sense theme to bring you Kit Kat goodness!!!

Is there any new updates on the CM 11 kitkat Rom unofficial? I've been itching to try this out and see the improvement on the OG EVO. I really want to see if kitkat can really run smooth on a low spec device. I've had a few JB ROMs that ran decently smooth.. with over clock at least.
I was trying to build a recovery with SELinux enabled for this, but it was too large. I read that I could probably change the compression to make the kernel smaller, but never got around to doing it, as my newer devices took precedence. I don't even remember where I left off with it, to be honest .
