As The Name Suggest This To0l Will Create An OTA Update Package For You,
It Doesn't Work Like The Actually OTA Packages Due To The Nature Of Custom ROM And Their Customization Ability,
Making patching near to impossible, however this will scan to folder and compare them,
picking the differences, creating a new OTA Folder, which you just zip and broadcast.
The Advantage Of Using This Tool Are SimpleSmaller Update Packages,
Faster Upload From The Dev,
Faster Download For the User,
It's Also Allows user to update without having to reflash stock kernel, as the modules (if they're the same) wouldn't be included,
It's Also Allow You To See The Actual Difference between each updates
Updates:Initial Release V1.0: Simple OTA Maker
Update V1.2:
Bug Fix
Update V1.1:
Logger Will Show An Error Should One Occurs
Exceptions (These Will Not Be Compared But Will Be Copied)
Upcoming Updates:
SuggestionsAll Suggestion are welcome
Notice:
1) For Aroma Users I highly Recommend that after using the tool to copy and paste that folder yourself,
usually Aroma options don't change and thus ignored by this app
2) The Same Apply To the update binary
3) If You Use This App, Please Credit, There is no need to tell me but i'd like to know
4) Some ROM format the /system partition before installing the ROM, if so make sure to comment out that line
5) I'd Highly Recommend You test the OTA package before publishing it
DOWNLOAD HERE
Look @ The 2nd Post For A Quick How To.
How To Use1) Extract The Old ROM (v1) Into A Folder And Place The Folder Into The "ROM" Folder
2) Extract The Updated ROM (v2) Into A Folder And Place The Folder Into The "ROM" Folder
3) Run The Tool & Click Refresh
4) Choose The Old ROM 1st & Then The 2nd ROM
5) Select A Name For Your OTA Folder
6) Click Process & Wait For The Magic To Happen
7) Now A Folder Will Be Created With The Name You Specified & Placed In The OTA Folder
8) Now You "Probably" Need To Edit The Binary Script To Make Sure It Works Correctly,
^^ You Won't/Shouldn't Remove/Edit Symlink/Chmod Or Extract Unless They Specify A Specific File

what a great idea OP, my congratulations I'll try it asap, thx a lot:good:
Awesome idea. Nice one. Would be useful if the devs that use this have a script to remove any .dex incase the ota receiver has reodexed their rom. But that's another matter.
Thanks, that is amazing!

thats a different story,
though i'm not yet 100% yet sure if odex apk/jar are interchangable, but let say they are,
this would work the same way,
and i doubt a dev would release 2 roms an odex and deodexed, but thats a the cooks problem not mine

Made this while experimenting with RAM... Found it quite good during 2 days testing
Quick notes:
1) System is fully loaded into RAM, you will need to modify CWR flash.cfg and reflash partitions (read below)
2) You can't modify system via Root explorer or etc.
Read below how it can be done.
3) Uhm... nothing more.
4)Replace stock launcher with other btw, it's laggy even with this configuration sometimes
(ADW EX - my choice)

1) Download latest CWR with system layout (any)
2) Modify flash.cfg like this:
Code:
misc ya 1M
recovery rrecov|ro|nospr filesize recovery-raw.img
boot ya|boot|ro 100M
system ya 15M
cache ya 10M
userdata ya|asize|hr allsize
3) Flash partitions (run DAF.exe)
4) Boot into recovery
5) Select Mounts and Storage > Mount USB Storage
DONT COPY ZIP USING MAGLDR, USE ONLY THIS WAY! (or cardreader)
6) Copy zip to SD card
7) Select Install zip from sdcard > Select zip from sdcard
8) Select uploaded zip, select yes, wait
9) Reboot, wait
Modifiying system files
Click to collapse
As I already said, it's not possible to modify system using Root Explorer, ADB or else.
So, to modify system:
1) Make .ramfs folder in root of your sd card
Download .ramfs folder if you can't create it
2) Now .ramfs acts like your /system, so create any files/folders you need to modify under .ramfs
Example: I need to modify framework-res.apk in /framework, here what I should do:
1) Copy .ramfs folder to sdcard root
2) Create framework folder in .ramfs
3) Copy framework-res.apk to framework folder
4) Reboot
Don't delete .ramfs after you made this!
If you delete this folder, system will be restored to default state. (your modified files will be replaced with default ones)

Why should you? I don't think there's a lot of useless apps cause system is close to stock. (I haven't removed some really useless apps like OD updater, I'll remove them in update)
Not bad build for now
Only one thing - why it didn't recognize my operator's settings for mobile internet?

ha il support ext3, data.img ?????????????
It's not really needed - you have 250+mb after install.
But I'll think about including simple a2sd script.
WOW this looks VERY promising!!!
Everything works till now, enough memory, no FC's, all my applications work, fast.
Don't know why not more people try this!
Now I'm gonna try to change some (system)settings (gpsconf, build.prop because font is too big, usb-tp-pc). And try some superuser things like fix_permissions.
Seems g-sensor callibration option is gone?
fix_permissions will have no effect after reboot
But you can do it to check root
How you gonna change system settings? (just to make sure you're doing it right )
DISCONTINUED.
I've sold the phone, but recreating the rom is VERY easy, I'll help you guys out as an goodbye-present
1. Download iNexusTheme
2. Download Theme Porter
3. Download 7Zip
4. Download CyanogenMod 7 & the GAPPS package.
5. extract the theme porter to c:\ make sure there are no spaces in the directory name
6. extract system/framework/framework-res.apk from iNexusTheme into the old/framework folder of the theme porter. Next extract all files system/app/ from iNexusTheme into the old/app folder of the theme porter.
7. extract system/framework/framework-res.apk from CM7 into the new/framework folder of the theme porter. Next extract all files system/app/ from CM7 into the new/app folder of the theme porter.
8. run the theme porter and tell it to port the theme.
9. When it's done open up the archive of CM7
10. Open the Gapps archive and move all folders but the META INF into CM7
11. go to your themeporter/new folder. Drag all files from /app into /system/app on the cm7 archive. Drag framework-res.apk from /framework into /system/framework on the CM7 archive.
Should work on future updates too.

Same here, after wipe and install from Rom Manager (after copying the zip to my SD card). In the setup wizard logging into my Google account seemed to start the sync process, but returned me to the login screen anyway. I entered my login info again (to see what would happen), and the wizard FC'ed. But the setup seemed to complete just fine.
Can't find the Honeycomb wallpaper in the live wallpapers, or anywhere else I looked. CM wallpapers still there.
But liking the themed apps so far, like the camera and dialer.
Good stuff..and gps works lol

Hey guys. We still need touchscreen calibration values for the SGS2.
If you want to help us out:
download the installer.zip file
reboot to recovery
flash the zip file
After the splash screen, hit the menu button on your phone and select "Calibrating tools" with your volume keys and select it with power.
When "alternative touch methods" comes up, select "no"
Follow the instructions on touching the white dots. You may need to hold your finger over them for a few seconds until it registers the touch, if not keep trying by lifting your finger and pressing for a few seconds again.
At the end of the calibration, it'll give you some text with the calibration values.
Type the text it gave you here so we can get the proper values updated and you can have a full touchscreen experience.
Note, that after this you will need to quit the installer. If you continue to go through with the installation your phone will be formatted. This will only happen if you don't quit the installer! You can quit it by hitting the menu key and selecting "quit installer"
i tried flashing this thru cwm, but it didnt work properly, there was what seemed like a new recovery but there was no text so i couldnt tell what i was doing.

Oh yes! The no text bug. I forgot about that. I'm gonna fix that right now. Download the installer.zip file in 5 minutes after I push the changes to github. You'll need to use the same link that's in the OP.

Okay the new file has been posted. You can grab it from the same link in the OP. It has font detection enabled so that it will use the font included by default if it doesn't find a ROM to use the font from

To be honest, this is not tablet mode at all, it has nothing to do with silly build.prop hacks. This is the first and only Android rom to feature true Hybrid mode. This rom lets you scale and project every app, every widget, even systemcomponents individually. Remember, android is modular, everything is an app: Lockscreen, navigationbar, dialogs, popups, keyboards, widgets, and your regular apps of course. Apps have the capability to switch into various designs or layouts according to the device they run on. This can result in a complete new experience as many apps will transform to the better.
Now for every element that you like chose a mode (PhoneUI, Phablet/Nexus-7UI, TabletUI) and/or a size. You are 100% independent of the system DPI which runs nicely in whatever value it has been assigned to. You do not need to boot your phone into a certain DPI. Neither will most of the changes you apply require a reboot. You will not suffer from the myriads of troubles which normally haunt you under build.prop tablet mode. Your market, phone, etc. will all work, apps won't shrink on you unless you shrink them yourself. This project will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the feel of your phone.
1.Make sure you're on the latest TWRP/CWM.
System Partition:ALL THOSE HAVING BAD BLOCKS PLEASE KEEP SYSTEM PARTITON ~220mb
Code:
misc ya 1M
boot yboot|ro 5M
system ya 210M
cache ya 2M
userdata ya|asize|hr allsize
2.MAKE A NANDROID!(OPTIONAL)
3.Wipe data/factory reset in recovery.
4.Flash ROM
5.Flash Gapps
6.Reboot
If you have an issue and you want to call our attention, here's what you do:
Try everything you can, find solutions for yourself. Wipe caches, revert all your settings you have made, go back to your stock Kernel, factory reset if you have to or reflash the rom. Assume that the issue is on your side and try your best to isolate it.
Search this thread and Cyanogenmods aswell (its our base) for possible reoccurences of your issue and hopefully solutions that may have come up.
If you think the issue is important enough that we should cease our work and look into it, post your issue, BUT:
1. Stay friendly, do not demand anything, do not threaten
2. Explain your issue as precise as you can, name the exact apps and conditions that cause trouble, help us to replicate the issue right away. If we can't there's no way we can fix it and your post will simply clutter the thread
3. Collect evidence, keep in mind this is a developer thread so even if you are not one, do us the favor and research how to record logcat. logcat is the single most important help you can give us to resolve your issue.

I decided to try downloading on my device - downloading now directly on my HD2 using the mobile's browser.

Hi,
For those who want to try NATIVESD and flash gapps.
1.Download gapps from gapps-jb-20121011_NativeSD.zip - 90.33 MB
2. replace file mount_NativeSD.sh from inside the zip with file attached (rename mount_NativeSD.sh.txt to mount_NativeSD.sh first )
3. flash zip from recovery

no it doesnt exist yet
and there is a big wifi issue on hd2 4.2.1 roms that probably requires
a new or ported kernel

Thanks for reply, I hear about wifi issue.
For me is biggest problem Data Drops, someone said that is because of MAGLDR - there is something wrong, did you hear about it? I don´t know what to do with magldr beacause there is very very old update.
Thanks
hello, to upgrade from version 2.54 to this, just change the name of the zip to update? or may not be updated and should be installed again erasing the above
thanks
Presenting to you my incredibly simple fix for the "Google+ Locations" Grey background maps issue that most of us have.
What is the problem?
Google+ Locations feature is replacing Latitude but for many of us this feature does not work. It fails to load the map leaving us with pictures of our contacts on a grey background - basically making the feature worthless to us all.
Whilst the fix itself is very simple (more info at bottom of this post), I know a lot of people here like things to be super easy, so I made a .zip for you all to flash.
Instructions
- Flash like any normal update.zip
- Reboot
In the unlikely event you find that the zip doesn't appear to work, or causes other Google+ issues then wipe app data (and cache) for Google+ and reboot.

Want to know more about 'the fix'?
Click this link to find out what exactly the fix does, or if you prefer not to use update.zip's to find out how to do it manually
Changelog
V1 - 12/07/2013
- Initial Release
- G+ version 4.0.2.48854689

Didn't work either way for me.
Tried your flash zip and after rebooting Google+ updated itself by Play probably reversing the changes.
That wouldn't reverse the changes, try to flash it a second time, one person said it worked the second time (everyone else was fine the first time)

Nope still doesn't work.
Reverted back to a previous nandroid (InsertCoin) backup prior to any Google+ modding.
Flashed your zip, rebooted and Google+ was no longer installed.
Had to re-install Google+ from Play store.
Weird you are the only one who has had issues. You were not wiping cache when you flashed it were you?
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4 Beta
No just a straight flash and reboot
Interesting. All the zip does it put the app and libs in the correct /system/ directory, there it no reason why it shouldnt work.
You could do it manually if you wanted.

I tried manually first time and still had a grey screen
This is normal?

You will only see people on your map if they are sharing their position with a circle you are in (on google+).

finally got this working...
After moving the files you need to manually clear Google+ data and then it works.

Weird, never had to do that for me (or anyone else who did my testing).
I will add a note to the OP.

I tried to do manually. Moving the "com.google.android.apps.plus-2.apk" to /system/app results in the error:
failed on 'com.google.android.apps.plus-2.apk' - Cross-device link
This is on Nexus4 running CM10.1.2-mako

Terminal Emulator (default in CM).
Alright,
I'm sure you arrived at this solution quite independently as It becomes kinda obvious once you have a proper look into it but I sorted this out weeks ago
https://plus.google.com/u/0/102811685695605940714/posts/5B8gYHciXDe [ Posts in the name of Steve Jones, ]
I made available a new gapps packages for fresh roms here http://goo.im/devs/trevd/gapps/gapps-jb-20130615-signed.zip this includes Google+ as a system app.
The problem you'll get now is that the original one installed from the PlayStore has been updated hence why the apk is now at -2. So at the moment if folks have that one installed in /data/ they should be able to flash your system app version with out removing anything ( in theory ) This might only work until the next update.
Probably the easiest approach is to uninstall using play. Flash a update zip which installs it as a system app.
Just My Thoughts :good:
@sashykanth use "busybox mv" to move files
Hack On!

Thanks for this, I hadn't seen your G+ Post before today. The new Gapps package will certainly be useful for roms which require Gapps.
