AT&T 6.1.C.1.107 update - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

After update to 105, I have another notice software update to 6.1.C.1.107 and updating right now

how are you getting these notifications. I'm not getting anything!

Yeah, I am getting no update notifications. Everything I try says I'm already up-to-date.

Im not getting any notifications either. When i check for and update it says i cant check for one until 24 hours has passed -.-

I tried to upgrade my girlfriends ion and it said the same as many of you, that it was up to date and there was no update. I used the Sony support chat line and asked what was up, I was told I wasn't really supposed to be aware of the upgrade as it had not officially been released yet, and that it would be official and ready at 9:30AM tomorrow. I was not told if that was EST or what time zone also, in case anyone is wondering.

Ics my xperia ion
I just check software update on xperia ion i28at but not new update , i connect to pc companion and notification say " your phone has last update " . Firmware my phone is 2.3.7 , xperia ion i28at

Yeh I flashed back to stock GB then updated via SUS. Once I booted up and connected to wifi I got the update notification on the phone to .107 even though SUS said I had the latest version. 107 was only about 23mb.

I'm getting a loop between .05and 07. Updated to version on SuS and booted up got a notification for .05 wth--

No loop for me. Once i got the notification for .107 on the phone and updated that was it. Can't check for updates manually on the phone more than once a day.

Clearing data for update center, then turning off automatic notifications will temporarily stop the update loop cycle. At least that has worked for me - no notification for the past 18 hours. So far the new ROM looks solid, rooted very easily with the new quick root method in this forum.
The best part is, the Cell standby battery use seems to have been fixed - YAY - so hoping to get a full day of use easily on this ROM. A few small quirks - maybe with individual apps (did not wipe data between my updates) - could be the reason. For example, Gemini app manager no longer can identify the permissions for each app - that was something I used heavily to keep my apps under control. Memory use is higher as some users pointed out, but I would expect it with a newer OS - does not seem to affect performance much, although my home launcher has been restarting every now and then (I use Holo Launcher HD).
So far so good - lets see how battery and performance work out for the next few days - but the Ion feels like a solid performer now with ICS - if we could get JB on it someday... but I guess I am being greedy
Cheers - thanks Spectre51 for yet another accurate prediction on the update.

Have you been checking the server all day? I have and now I cannot get 107 back ATM, maybe 107 wasn't even suppose to be out, I really think 107 had a security flaw I rooted that sooooo easy, but im having a hell of a time on 105 for some reason,
Speaking of which I fixed it, If you have Flash tool and got Superuser installed but didn't acttualy get root, install a fresh FtF then in Flash took click the lock Icon after you do the FtF flash and it roots with SuperSU not Superuser, hate superuser.......

Yeah iv been checking all day I got the update notice but it won't download its really frustrateing

I think AT&T pulled the update back. I flashed back to GB today and then couldn't update via SUS or PC Companion. Flashed the .105 ftf and get no update notification to .107. Guess we will have to wait to see what they release. Just a note .107 isn't listed as certified on ptcrb.com and one thing I did notice about .107 was that you could go to landscape mode even on the home screen which was nice. Can't in .105.

Doing this will break push notifications in some apps like Twitter, IMDB, Android Lost, etc. It depends on the app. If you stop receiving notifications from an app after doing this trick, the only way to get it working again is to clear the app's data and set it up again.

Is there a real advantage to having the .04 OTA over a ROM that is .04?
Not necessarily, except IMM76K could have some kind of telephony code that custom AOSP ROMs wouldn't have...but we wouldn't know that for sure until IMM76K gets tagged in AOSP, if it ever does.

I didn't want to restore to .02 and do all the hubub getting there if it really isn't necessary.

I have tried this a million of times, still no update
What worked for me on two devices so far was yo follow instructions and clear the data/force close. Then when you go check for updates and the screen says "last checked on 12/31/1969", quickly and repeatedly press the check now button. I pressed it as fast as I could and within a few seconds it started downloading the update. On my second phone I did this on, it worked the first try.

The same for me. I have a Google Galaxy Nexus and I can't force the update from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4
I tried a lot of tricks like the one you give, and it still does not want to update... I bought it directly from Google so there is no carrier involved...

Well then you must have installed a non-stock ROM at some point because no Galaxy Nexus model that I'm aware of has ever had Android 4.0.3 installed on it.

Thanks for your answer.
The fact is I was working at Google 6 months ago and so Google deployed 4.0.3 on my phone. Now that I'm gone, I'm stuck with 4.0.3 and I can't apparently update to 4.0.4. Any idea on how to change "admin" settings or downgrade to default version and then upgrade?
Thanks
I finally made the update.
I had to unlock my bootloader and then I used the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit to install 4.0.4 as the factory image. then, I used the OTA to have 4.1.1 (aka Jelly Bean).
The most important thing is to install the Android ADB Interface driver, so that your phone is available while on recovery mode.
After all these steps, you can lock the bootloader again, what I did

Can't update my phone in any way

Hey guys, I'm new here, so this thread is probably on here somewhere, but oh well. I can't update my S3 OTA or through Kies. I know there is an update, as my friend got it fine on his yesterday (it's the one with the brightness slider in notification center). On OTA, it says communication failed every single time, then says up to date. I have tried clearing data and all that as well. And in Kies, it also says I have the latest firmware, even though I know I don't. Any ideas? I really don't want this happening when Jelly Bean comes out. Oh yeah, I'm not rooted or anything by the way, I'm still on stock for now.
I have the same exact issue. I think it has something to do with ATT and the phone not being set up right in their system. Did you by chance have an iPhone before your S3 and use the same Sim card?
Mine wouldn't find the ota on the phone. I searched around here and found a thread someone had started that has instructions on how to download the flashable zip and install it via CWM. Worked like a champ. If you are rooted this is the way you'll want to go

Hey do you mind giving me instructions on how to do that? And is there a safe way to root my phone on a Mac? And last of all, can I still get updates such as Jelly Bean on a rooted GS3 without losing root without messing anything up? Sorry I'm coming from iPhones and jailbreaking so I'm not familiar with all this.

I've always recommended returning whatever device you have back to 100% stock (as it was out of the box) before taking any official updates. I've heard ppl say they can take them just fine while still rooted - but they lose root. Sometimes you can simply re-root, sometimes you have to wait for a new exploit to be discovered before you can root again. In light of this, I always wait a week (sometimes less) after a new OTA (Over The Air) update is released, just to be sure I can regain root immediately. Welcome to the wonderful world of Android OS!!!
[edit] to answer your post about not being able to take the last OTA update. Have you tried a factory reset? Through Android Recovery? You will lose personal settings and contacts if you dont back them up. But, it may solve your update issue. Another thing I know, that a lot of ppl do is - as soon as you buy a new device, such as the awesome Galaxy S III, is to immediately do the factory reset. (Who knows how many employees have goofed around with the new toys they just got in stock)
I had the same problem with not being able to get the OTA update on my S3. Turns out it was a bad sim. As soon as I got a new sim from AT&T everything worked fine. Wish I would have done that first cause I spent hours on the phone with AT&T and Samsung trying to fix the problem. Good luck. Hope that works for you.

Same issue here. Just spent a couple hours this Saturday at an AT&T store - end result is that they are swapping it out under the manufacture 1 year warranty.
Sim replacement did not fix it for me.
Tech support over the the stores land line says that the option to push OTA to phone is greyed out and not selectable with my account.
They are sending me a new phone so we'll see.

I'm not sure what else to suggest except trying a new sim card like someone else suggested... beyond that, a replacement device. Sorry man, wish I could be more useful...
[edit] The only other thing I can think to try would be to completely remove all your current USB Drivers for Samsung from your PC and reboot the PC, then re-install the USB Drivers, and try Kies again. If it still doesn't work, try a different PC.
Well I'm going to try a different computer, and if that doesn't work, I'm going to an AT&T store. Thanks for all the help guys.

[Q] Need Help with OTA on a stock unrooted please

Hello all, This is my situation...I recently got a message from t-mob saying they have a new update..I don't trust any t-mob updates and as such, I clicked on postpone for 1 day. I then updated the phones firmware using kies. Problem is that after I updated through kies I still get that annoying message stating update postponed. I tried going to about phone in settings to uncheck the marks and all it does is say "congratulations t-mobile has sent you a new software update for your device" nothing else can be accessed when I click on software update. My phone is not rooted and is stock. How do I get rid of this annoyance and how do I stop device management from sending me these ota udates?
53 people have viewed this, isn't there anyone with knowledge on this that can help please?
unfortunately the best advice I can give you is to try a factory data reset or just wait...usually tmobile will push updates for a certain amount of time and then stop, from then on only manual updates so you can try and ride it out
Also I'm not sure if this will work as I have never tried it but you can go into settings and applications and disable device management
Root and install Tb and delete the annoying app like I did. That thing kept reminding me left and right...

Updated last night. Phone got pretty hot. I was having a kind of increased battery drain since 5.0, but this seems to have taken care of it, as far as I can tell from just this morning.
To those who are experiencing the hotter than normal phones, are you using the supplied Fast Charger?
Mine is dead after charging overnight. When I picked it up this morning it was very hot, but couldn't get any response out of it. Taking it to a ATT Device Support Center to try and get a warranty replacement. This was the first time I had charged my phone after installing the update yesterday afternoon.
Maybe a chance the small update screwed with the fast charging somehow?
These updates are becoming more and more of a headache. I really wish they would stop just shoving these things out here before being throughly tested. And if they don't, at least they could unlock the bootloader. I'd take it from there.
I actually haven't had too much of an issue. Android system seems to be taking up less battery than before which is nice. Just to make sure I did a factory reset, cleared cache and installed everything fresh. So far battery life seems the same as before.
My battery life is better but won't know for sure until several days. I see android system taking way less %, actually android also.

I'm interested in seeing if the 'SIM or network error' is still happening after that update. I updated to the 5.0.1 and it broke forwarding, and thus my gear S...so I rolled back to kitkat last night and it's happy again.
