So, eventhough the Google Navigation is navigating, when it's time to make a direction change or turn, she keeps announcing the same street and directions. No matter where I'm at or what I'm doing, she keeps announcing the exact same street and turn. Really weird.
Any ideas?
Clear your app cache for Google navigation and maps and that should fix the repeating voice problem
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
Trikage is absolutely right. Had this problem myself after a nandroid restore. Clearing cache/data resolved it completely.
Same thing happened to me. Cleared map cache and hasn't come back yet but others are reporting after some time it will return...
... I just hope it doesn't happen with my sister (iphone) in the car or I'll never hear the end of it!

Welp, it came back. I just upgraded to Wicked v.6 ROM, so we'll see what happens now.
Anyone know what the cause of this is?
Yup happened to me a fee more times.. Thinking of putting a script on startup to erase all app data for Google maps on every startup

Have you guys tried a different version of Maps?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I've been having it happen over and over. I really don't watn to delete my data, but must because of this.
Also, other issues:
When click the icon to enter destination by voice, it opens for voice input for about two seconds, then closes. This has happened on different ROMS, and different Kernels.
Sometimes when I open Nav, the app itself closes
Frustrating.

I am on a totally stock non-rooted EL29 sprint rom. This was also happening on EK02 which I used auto root on. When using google navigation for turn by turn directions instead of saying the street names and turn right here it is giving me html code. Has anyone ever had this issue before or any suggestions on how to fix it?
anyone have any suggestions?

How bizarre! I've never heard of such a thing. I'd love to hear a recording of this.
Text-To-Speech
Is your text to speech set to Samsung? Once upon a time mine did this. I changed it to pico & it hasn't happened since. Try that. Good luck.
I would try clearing cache and data in maps. Go to settings -> applications

Wether you're on Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread or ICS.
Have you guys noticed how Google Maps on Android tends to "jump" to your current location when you're driving around, whilist iPhone users have a smooth moving gps point indicator? I've noticed out location indicator is smooth when you use "navigation" and it seems to be tied down to signal aside from obviously a gps lock.
I wish there was a modded Google Maps that has our location indicator "fluidly moving" on maps while we're moving like the iphone. Thoughts, comments, post away.

I use Telenav...super smooth. My daughter's iphone uses Telenav as well.

I have noticed it before, but I haven't noticed it anytime the last dozen or so times I've used it. Maybe I've missed it, or maybe it's actually getting better?
I think noticed on my last Android but I hardly ever use good maps because I have a older Garmin nuvi that works pretty good.

I have even had the same trouble when using navigation. Mostly just recently, and when traveling in new areas. I just figured it was happening because the maps data wasn't cached and there was some delay in retrieving it.
Further, when I switch on 4g while using navigation my whole phone freezes and requires a battery pull to get back on track. Terrible.

Mj, go into ur google maps app, and see if u can clear the data or uninstall the update , power off ur phone, then turn it back on and reinstall the update.

Have u tried updating ur prl and rebooting ur phone?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
Keep in mind, google maps mostly works off of "network position". So if u don't update ur prl every now and then, ur position locking proximity will and could be off.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
I always keep my prl up to date. I switch to 01115 though so I don't think that's the issue. No matter how well your reception is, it seems (so far) that google maps indicator will always be jumpy.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
We'll, google is always working on improving they're products
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
It is because Maps caches the map and has to download the next section and that causes the stop and go of the flow. Telenav seems to have a better cache system and does not display this.

Just an update
I've noticed, that since Beta 1, while having the latest version of Google Apps flashed, it is MUCH smoother on MAPS! that's totally a first for me, I've always seen it jumpy, and smooth only when using Google Navigation! It's these little unimportant things i pay attention to, which I wouldn't even noticed if iPhone's version of Google Maps wasn't so smooth.. Just wanted to keep you guys who cared to post up to date. ;D
my GS3 was working flawlessly for more than a month, and i use it as GPS everyday, to and from work. I use waze.
anyway i dont know what went wrong, today when i was driving, it started disconnecting every couple of minutes, in waze, in google maps...
i have GPS monitor app installed which shows in notification bar how satellites its connected to, so i could see it going to zero and back to 13-15 which is usually the case...
i have not installed any new app which should affect GPS, the only thing i installed and then uninstalled was "Apartment guide" app.
is anybody else having this issue? what can i do apart from reflash OS? by the way i am on wanamlite ROM.
thank you.
Never had this problem before. I would use faster gps app to resolve your problem. It sounds like the app is crashing because of incompatibility
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
kitkit201, thanks for your reply, but i am having this issue even with google maps, i dont think its incompatibility...and the app itself is not crashing, but only GPS disconnects...and then reconnects...

ok i have found out an app that was causing these GPS issues..it was an app named GPS Monitor (https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wMiwiZXUuaWxseXJpdW0udG9vbHMuZ3BzbW9uaXRvciJd)
i uninstalled it and everything worked fine...please note this if anyone else is using this app, it can cause issues...
ive been noticing this as well. i use a speedometer apps and it tells me how much sats im locked onto...ill randomly watch it turn red and slowly lose sat by sat till im not even connected. i dont have that app you mentioned installed.......???
I've noticed that my S. Voice no longer speaks back to me. Anybody know how I can fix this? The little button in the bottom left on the S Voice screen is enabled, so I'm not sure what the issue is.

S Voice.... No Voice!!!
Im having the very same problem. Tried to have a meaningful conversaion with my pocket friend and she didnt speak back to me. Checked everything was enabled plus checked for system update but still nothing. Maybe it is to do with the lawsuit or maybe theres an update coming for it.... Annoying, but glad im not the only one.

Besides the fact that S-Voice and the S3 weren't even mentioned in the lawsuit and they haven't pushed any updates I'm going out on a limb and saying no.
This diffently isn't a setting issue and is widespread. I just did a hard reset on my phone to factory, and still no S Voice lady. I went to the Sprint store and use 2 of their phones, and samething. This issue is really weird!

Same here, no voice. I was on another forum and people were saying there was no voice for english but there was voice for spanish, so I tried it out and sure enough the voice spoke back when I used spanish. Very weird.
I cleared the data and got it back...
settings> application manager> (select all tab) scroll to s voice and select it and clear data. I then went into app and it kept giving me network errors. I restarted phone and got it back.
My problem is that I only had 2.5 mb built up. This will get annoying if it happens every time I hit 2.5 mb.
Anyways, give it a try. Hope it helps...
Nice heads up. Thanks op. Weird but true issue. Vlingo may be updating something on the servers. No idea. New voice perhaps ;D

clearing data worked for me, thanks man.. hope I don't have to do that often. Not that I'll prolly use the s voice often, but it's fun to show off.. Thanks again Bdozier!
Mine also stopped working. The English and yeah UK English wouldn't make a sound but the others were fine. Magically it's working today

Just as title says the navigation voice gets stuck. It usually gets stuck if I end navigation early. The next time I use navigation it will get stuck saying in 1000 feet or turn right etc. Only fix I found was clearing app data but it always comes back. Any help?
Using aokp and ktoonsez's kernal too. Also did full wipe decently and it didn't fix it.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda premium
Mine does this as well, on tw and aosp roms. Only temp fix I've found is clearing data. This has been driving me nuts, at least it's not just me. Let me know if you figure anything else out.

I use my nav like 2 times a week.. Usually only for 20-30min trips. Haven't experienced that myself.
I'm stock rom rooted with kt kernel

After doing more Google research it looks like it is happening on multiple phones on multiple Rome. Might be an issue with the app
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda premium
Since I've seen this post I've used navigation everywhere I've gone...
Noticed my nav would show me the right direction for places but the voice would tell me how to get to my previous destination...
It would say turn left etc on streets in the city I was in earlier.

I"m guessing that uninstall/reinstall only really accomplishes the same thing as clearing data. Because when you uninstall, it will of course clear the data.
I too am having this problem, consistentlyh, and on different ROMS. Very frustrating.
It tells me to turn right from the street I live on, over and over again.
same problem here
I too am having this problem.. i just restart the phone, but thats the same as clearing app data.. though less screens to go through
is there any fix in sight for this? its really aggravating.
By the way, another problem I am having with the Nav app is that when I click on Voice Entry for a destination, it flashes over to enter voice, then right back to the initial destination screen. Am unable to use voice entry.
I have had this problem on Stock ROM, as well as current Ariel Rom.
Maybe I should open a thread on this topic to see if anyone else has the issue.
