Pretty much every time I try to connect to my home wifi, it keeps getting stuck on authenticating then it will fail and do it over again and again until it says network disabled, poor connection, even though it has a full 4 bars... I've tried turning it off and back on, I've tried forgetting it and redoing it, I've tried restarting the phone.. The only thing that seems to work is for me to unplug my router and plug it back in while leaving the wifi on my phone on. When the router boots back up, then my phone will connect. I would say it's something wrong with my router, but my other phone has absolutely no problem connecting.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Edit: Oh yeah, the phone WILL connect if I turn the password off on my router. I am 100% sure I'm putting the correct password in on my phone, I've checked it numerous times, plus as I said, the phone will connect if I reboot the router every single time I want to connect, so the password is definitely correct.

Originally I was using the stock ROM on 4.0.4, now I'm using the most current CM9 nightly. Have the same problem on both ROMs.
Found a solution, set up my router so that the security is disabled, but so that only the mac addresses I allow can get through. Works perfect and no loss of security.

One could easily listen on your network to scrape your MAC address, and then spoof it. I suppose one could brute-force WPA encryption too, but it's much harder.
You can always just set a static ip. Tap and hold the wifi network and tap advanced and change dhcp to static and go on your pc and find your ip by launching cmd and enter ipconfig. Then enter the info cmd gives you onto your phone but to avoid ip conflicts just change the end of the ip address to something else like 84 no devices usually use that.
Ive seen that issue attempting to connect to my own wifi a couple of times, and in every case it was caused by the wrong PW. I would reset the PW on your router so you know exactly what it is. they are case-sensitive so it could be that you mistyped a letter or two on either the router or your phone. you should also be able to connect using WDS iirc, assuming the router supports it (most newer routers do)

Ok.. now that ive had time to cool off, here is the problem.
I work at a University. On a laptop, connecting to the Wi-Fi is a fairly painless process. Its a secure network, so it requires us to use our credentials (ie, our network login/pass phrase) to even connect to the Wi-Fi. Note that when i say pass phrase, that means its farily longer than a standard password. My own is somewhere in the neighborhood of ~20 characters.
The problem with my Touch Pro 2, lies in the final process of connecting to this network, where it will ask me for this information (login, password, domain). I get about 6 characters of my password in, before it pops up a message saying "Unable to connect", as if it thought i was done typing and went ahead and tried to connect.
Heres more info.
Auth: WPA2
Encryp: AES
EPA type : PEAP
Ive tried using Portrait keyboard, Landscape keyboard, and hardware keyboard.
edited for more info.
Seriously? NOBODY else has had this problem?
damn
my touch pro2 has this problem, too
anybody help us

umm.. then how will i see the network?
The issue is, in the way it asks for it. Its not something i can make a cert or something i can type before hand. Only thing i can do is try to connect, the Network will then ask me for a log in. If i manage to get it typed in, in time, i can save it and it will hold for a bit, until something happens like the network goes down. Which then, removes the saved log in, and i have to do the whole dam process over again.
No problem here and I use 20-character network keys on my WPA or WPA2 encrypted wireless networks (I manage or maintain several of my friends or clients networks)
Can you add and configure a connection to your network by pretending it to be a hidden network (non-broadcasting SSID)?
changing to hidden didnt work.
Ive also tried going into the Advanced settings, and on the LEAP tab, entering in my information manually, but when i do that and try to connect, it attempts to, then stops, tried to connect to a saved network that isnt in range, then stops like it didnt find anything.
LEAP - you need to configure to a domain network?
How did you try configuring for a hidden network?

Aye, we use a domain, and i have that info typed into it.
I just went though the network settings and check the box that it was a hidden network?
still having this issue. Trying to use the Enroll section by typing in my creds doesnt work, as it just tries to connect, sits for a second, then disconnects. At some point id like to try a cooked rom, but not gunna do that for a while (least till i read over it a couple more times) and even then can't guarantee the new rom wont have the same problem.
Any other suggestions?
bump-bump-bump
nobody know how to fix this hua
Anyone have any new info about this? i still cant type my password in fast enough..
Is their anyway to get it to WAIT for me to hit connect before actually trying to connect?
I am unable to connect to my WIFI at home, I have tried everything I can think of, which is quite a bit. All I get is obtaining IP loop and then says poor signal and quits trying, (I have tried sitting right next to the router) My router shows that DHCP has handed the phone an IP, but the phone does not seem to take.
Tried adding a network manually
Tried advanced settings, and giving a static IP address, I can get it to show its connected but can not get any internet, data etc.
Tried the *#0011#
Tried a master reset, and tried to connect to wifi before installing anything.
I am at a loss, would not be a big deal but the 4G at home is sketchy, cuts in and out a bunch, plus for what I paid for the phone the wifi should at least work.
Tmobile tech support is not much help, neither is Samsungs.
Any help is appreciated!

Does your phone's wifi work on other networks? (Coffee shop, neighbor's, etc..)
What type of authentication is your router using? Try disabling authentication and see if it works.
What model is your router? Does it have up to date firmware?

Yes it connects to my work wifi.
WPA/WPA2
Its a Belkin router, not sure of the model off the top of my head, I know its somewhat newer cause it has the N protocol.
I would really suspect the router if I did not have other devices that work fine on the network, 2 kindle fires, 3 laptops, 1 S,Captive, Wii, and Xbox, and my Vibrant worked fine till I got this phone. Not everything is on at the same time, but I am sure that would not matter cause I have never had an issue when it all was connected at the same time.
Have you flashed a kernel lately? I have issues connecting to my router flashing some kernels. Just a thought.

I have the same issue, but my Wifi wont connect to any network and actually show throughput if I set the wifi power **** to off with the *#0011# menu.
I was stuck on stock roms because akop based (cmx) dont have that service menu.
I recently flashed to Uvalh2 stock rooted and the wifi works as it should for the 1st time ever. I flashed back to ulvem and it needs the 0011 **** again...
my home router is also a belkin with b/g/n, but my wifi never worked anywhere without the menu trick;
ANY help to troubleshoot if this is radio/kernel/rom based or what setting the menu changes so we can possibly set it manually in terminal..
thanks for this thread
Best I can think of real quick is to try different kernels and modems. (Check out the Modem Flasher in dev, makes it really easy)

Just hate the fact I have to try other kernels and modems after paying an arm and a leg for this phone, should not have to.
And seeing I have never done that before it makes me heisatate even more, I am sure I can do it, just that whole what it.
I just dont get why if I give the phone a static IP then it will connect, but can not move data, I went to the *#0011# and was able to ping the router and laptop on the network etc. I am at a loss
Anyone have any other suggestions on this issue???

Anyone out there have any more Ideas? I was hoping JB might have fixed it, but it did not.
I never had problems with my Galaxy note 2 when it came to wifi until I stayed over my mother's house.
My Galaxy Note 2 constantly kept disconnecting, and reconnecting to her router.
I clicked forget network to monitor the signal strength. There was full bars and the signal never got lost.
So I did what a normal user would do. GOOGLE. And I saw A LOT of people experiencing this issue.
Yet there was no solution to the problem! Everyone is hoping to see an update and blah blah.
So I decided to try to figure the problem out myself.
I thought about it. What's different between my mom's optimum wifi vs my Verizon FiOS wifi.
My router has one network name.. Wait my mom has two? Hmmm...
DX20PR.. *disconnects*......... DX20PR 5G *connects*
WALAH! No more disconnecting and reconnecting.
Moral of the Story: If your Galaxy constantly loses wifi signal, check if your router has a '5G' signal, connect to that instead.
Why this works? idfk. But it solved my problem, and hopefully this will solve someone else's problem :good:
If you have AT&T Smart Wifi installed on your phone then that's been known to cause problems also. I had constant wifi connect/disconnect problems until I uninstalled it.
wifi issues set router to use one channel only
I had disconnects a lot as well until I changed my router setting to use only one channel.
I've seen this problem on multiple phones that I've had. A quick restart on the router always fixes it. Lead me to believe it's the router
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda app-developers app
Make sure you mom's router isn't set to lower then 50 DHCP Address: EX. 192.168.0.50
Sign into the router usually 192.16.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 from web browser. Go to DHCP Setting and make sure you see 192.168.0.XX (XX being the amount of device that can obtain a ip address to get access to internet). If it lower then 20 change to 50 or little higher.
Hope this helps
If my WIFI security is using WPA2 my GN2 will lose internet connectivity after some time of the screen being off. The only way to get it back is by turning off WIFI on my GN2 and turning it back on. I don't have this problem using WEP security in the router. However, using WEP security is less secure and severely limits WIFI speeds (can't use N speeds).
[Updated on 01/29/13]
I just want to provide a follow-up to this. I recently learned about the ARP table in my router which is responsible for mapping the IP address to its MAC address. If my GN2 doesn't access the internet for a certain period of time its IP address is removed from the ARP table and I have to toggle the WIFI on my phone to gain internet access again. I found that manually adding the IP/MAC address of my GN2 to the ARP table solved this problem. In a 24-hour period I've lost internet access 1 time after about 7 hours of inactivity (I was sleeping) and I gained internet access after a few minutes without having to toggle WIFI. I'm only sharing my own personal experience with this issue in the hopes it will help others. Below is the command I used to manually add a static entry into the ARP table of my router (model: Buffalo WZR-HP-G300N, firmware: DD-WRT):
arp -i br0 -s 192.168.0.101 38:AA:3C:85:1F:7C
I have WAP 2 and I don't lose internet connection. Yes I have a small delay when the SN2 wakes up but it connects right away. Go to your wifi setting and hit forget this network and re enter your pass key and see if this might help. You might have another device using the same ip address.

This did the trick for my father-in-law who was in town with is AT&T Galaxy Note II. His wifi kept turning off/on and disconnecting from my router and I couldn't save the network connection. My router is setup with an N network and a B/G network both with WPA2 , and he couldn't connect to either without the issue (everything other wifi device had no problems). I didn't uninstall the "AT&T Smart Wifi" just went into Manage Applications, stopped the services/application it was running and disabled the application. Immediately the phone was able to connect and keep connection with no problems. I didn't need to restart the router or do anything else.

Is anyone else having issues connecting to wifi? When I try to connect to wifi at my house, I get a pop-up error saying "AP currently not in use. Internet connection slow." If I click retry, it comes up again. If I click cancel, it says "Failed to obtain IP" and is not connected.
I have tried restarting my model/router with no luck. My Note 3, laptop, and other devices have no problem connecting to this wifi network...
I had a problem with wifi, but sounds different then your issue.Mine would just disable after obtaining ip.Samsung rep at best buy reflashed phone. That saved all data and apps.AND,it fixed wifi.If you can't work thru your issue,go to best buy or att store and get it reflashed.Cant hurt.
Good luck.

No go for me I just Got my N4 from Verizon last monday and having the same issue u had. I changed my encryption from wep to wap and still same problem. Ima go to a verizon store and see if the "reflash" the phone like some suggest here. Might help my problem
Hi all,
I also experience the same issue from time to time. I have this happen on both my home network (WPA2-Personal) and work (WPA2-Enterprise). My fix is to either reboot the phone or activate Airplane Mode for about 20 seconds and then disable Airplane Mode. After doing that, wifi picks right up for me. YMMV.
I can try to get the exact error log messages from our networking technician at work if it would be helpful to anyone.
Out of curiosity, do any of you have other peripherals connected at the time you experience the issue (Pebble Watch, etc.)?
Same issue
With my GN4, I can connect to my home WIFI no problem and my GF's WIFI no problem but when I go to my Dad's, I CANNOT connect to his WIFI (Netgear WTG624v3) but both of my sisters with a Samsung Tab 3 and Samsung S4 CAN connect to my Dad's WIFI. It's really aggravating. Basically, when I try to connect, it says "connecting" "saved" Then it says "scanning", and says "connecting" "saved" again and again ..... But never connects.
I have tried changing just about every WIFI setting on his router including resetting the router. Tried removing the encryption making an "Open" network and STILL can't connect... and tried every encryption type provided and still nothing. I set the dynamic address range from .4 to .254 (on router) so I could try connecting with a static address to 192.168.1.2 / .3 and still nothing. I tried removing my GN4 browser cache, and setting it to airplane mode(20 secs)... nothing.
I'm at a loss.. given that both of my sisters with two different devices can connect to my Dad's WIFI but I can't with my GN4? But I can connect my GN4 to other WIFI networks, no prob.
UPDATE: Next, I will try downgrading the firmware version on the router to an earlier version. Hopefully, that's the solution. I will report my findings here.
Downgrading or using an older Firmware version for this Netgear WTG624v3 router DID THE TRICK!
If anyone else is having the inability to log into a WIFI router, try installing an older router Firmware version. I got the idea from here:

Hello guys, I have a trouble.
Since I bought the phone I am with constant disconnections with the wifi of my house.
The signal is strong and other devices work well.
I have tried several things.
1. disconnect and connect from the toggle switch.
2. connect and disconnect airplane mode.
3. Rename the router's ssid.
4. I also deleted the password and wrote it again.
and I do not remember if anything else.
I am currently in the official rom and I do not know what else to do.
Maybe it's a trouble of the rom or the hardware?

Maybe it'a an IP conflict with one of your device connected to the router. Try to edit your wifi settings. Set IP SETTINGS to STATIC, then edit the end of your ip address to a higher number. Example from my attach file. My ip address is 192.168.1.3, try changing 3 to 5 or any number up to 255. It'll be 192.168.1.5 and save.

OP did you solve your wifi problem?
i also had that problem. phone had hardware failure so sent it back. havent got my phone yet.
Fixed my wifi issues by setting up a second router as access point and connecting to that instead. I was sure it was not my default router at fault because no other devices had issues with it. The problem showed up just 1 month after i bought the phone so i was sure it was the phone at fault since no other phones or computers had issues but i guess not
still no fix? this problem appears once every or every second day and only a restart helps. on every rom.
