i was seriously considering this phone, only to find it comes with just 16gb of memory, this day in age comeon google,so basically you would need an extra mp3 player for music?
Mine has 32GB but I use less than 16GB since I use Google Music.
I also don't really watch any video on my phone either, that is what my 64GB iPad is for.
Plenty for me. I don't watch movies on it. I stream all of my music from Google music. I think I have about 9 GB free.

Thanks for reply, but hangon, i thought it only had 16gig, were did yu buy yours cause went into vodafone today, and was told it only had 16gig?
16 gig is more than enough
i still have 9 gig free space
Its manageable
The LTE version has 32 GB, the GSM's only have 16. I have a 16 GB version in Canada where we can't get Google Music and its only ok because I have a tablet with most of my music. If all I had was the phone it would be an annoyance.
16gigs sucks. I have to manage my data. And the speed of the internal NAND is slow. My atrix external sd card was 3 times faster and the internal storage was 4 times faster.

Fine for me. Music is on separate mp3 player, don't watch films on it
Lots of space for apps only and a few photos wallpapers

Well in this day and age I believe streaming is king so the only local data you need to worry about are a few photos and apps. The rest you can store on the cloud and 16gbs then looks like a huge amount!
I've been very happy with it and don't see how I will ever fill up this device.
Streaming may be king .... unless you have a restricted data plan like everyone in the uk. So internal memory is a big deal if your phone is used as a music player

I could easily use the full 16gig, however, if I actually moved all my videos, photos, backups and unneeded downloads on to my pc, I could easily run with about 10gig free.

Is there no unlimited data contracts any more? Good thing I didn't give mine up/renew when I got it a few years ago...
For me 16 gigabyte is way too much. Have around 2 gigabyte of music,a gigabyte of photos and videos, a half gigabyte of apps and a few 100 megabyte of other things like browser cache and kindle books.

Yes. It is enough. 9.01GB free right now.
Plenty of room, got play music for all my music needs, netflix for films and upload all pictures instantly to google+, titanium backup synced to box. Net, what else could you ask for

Yes, but what a freaking hassle lol.
I have the 16GB version as well, and it doesn't bother me much. I am used to having a 32GB sdcard, but that's not an option so I make due. Much like the others, I stream music and watch movies via Netflix.
Thank you

Because I had the cash to
because I like to carry my tablet alone, not a wire and a usb stick or harddrive so its a ease of convenience factor.
Because I don't want to carry a bunch of extra peripherals and have junk dangling from my tablet.
Because of course no one Will like to have wire hanging out your device and also internal flash is way faster than usb also pendrive sucks huge amount of battery every time you use it
Liked My Suggestion Please Use Thanks Button
Basically what every one else said the price difference is so low why not have the extra onboard storage. I really don't carrying around extra stuff as it is. Its sorta why I refuse to buy a laptop with a DVD drive, because I know I'd end up buying an external one because all my media is not in the cloud, especially the things I do for work.
convenience. Do you really want to have a tail hanging out of the bottom of the device everytime you want to watch a movie?
I think a better question would be, why would you want to carry around extra crap?
Because it'd rather not have to rely on having a usb stick/hard drive plugged in every time I want to watch something

because it was what, 40 dollars more? what a silly question. I have a 16 gig s4 with a 64 gig card. I need space. my old nexus was 32. my HTC dna is only 16 with no card and at every given moment I only have like 700mb free. it's awful.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
I wanted the 32gb, but it was out of stock.
Now knowing that usb otg works i have no regrets though - i think it was a better choice actually!
I'm importing this thing so an extra $40 = more like $60, and i never had any space issues with my old 16gb n7.
Also backed the microsd kickstarter, which is very compact and can store my 64gb sandisk with media on it.
It takes like half a min to copy over a movie to internal and you're done.
Also being able to access and manage files without the need to plug my n7 to a PC (when i want to add a movie) is so much easier, just plug in the portable hard drive and play...
There are some really portable otg cables out there, mine is smaller than an average usb drive.
Unused space = wasted space, so no regrets...
I got the 16GB. My 32GB original N7 was never filled past halfway. All my music is on my phone and when I watch something on it, it's usually via netflix. If I really need that space for some reason (long plane ride or something) I can deal with the OTG cable sticking out.

Personally, since it has no sd card, I played it safe. My music alone would never fill it up, though i have some ~ 3,900 songs.
When I load up game of thrones, it takes some space. I'd use my otg for long trips or if i won't have access for a while.
Also, you can't use otg without an app that will mount it, currently, until its enabled in custom roms.
Indeed, loading up movies & videos for viewing while travelling, it eats up space fast. For an extra $40 seems silly not to opt for the 32gb if one had the availability and choice.

Because USB OTG requires root in order to mount the flash drive and I'd rather be root free.

Different strokes for different folks

I am actually a big fan of secure cloud. Netflix and YouTube, Hulu, and other less known sites. I have many devices but I don't think I've gone beyond 8 on any. Just not a prob for me. But I can see where it would be for some. I have like more books on nook than I can readily count, music, games and when it comes to backup's I push to PC, usually wirelessly lol. I find it safer to store on PC plus no room issues. This is a play with device to hold me till the big boys start popping out and I'm frugal. That said I'm coming to like her much more than I thought I would. When this tab gets a few more mods it will really be a beauty.
Like the man said, different strokes.
As many of you, I'm considering the 16gb model. I have like 2gb of music and another few for apps. My question is, after the OS how much space can we expect to have.
On my Nexus 5, 12.55 GB formatted/installed with no apps installed, which isn't really a possible scenario. FWIW, I have 3.52GB of apps installed, a few megs of images and other, and 517MB of cached data and have 6.4GB left.
Before installing the Marshmallow official version, I was routinely running into storage problems just with downloaded/cached music after a few months of use.
Yeah I was kinda thinking that around 12gb would be free. I have a galaxy s6 now and there is like 9 gb of "other" storage which is prolly all the Verizon crap in addition to the OS.
Something to consider.
I'm on the marshmallow Preview on my Nexus 6 and I've noticed the OS seems to cache higher amounts of data. I'm constantly seeing 1gb cache in my storage and clearing it. Not sure of this is a marshmallow thing or just some weird quirk with the preview build

I preorderd a 16 and 32 and will return one obvi but want to be safe and not regret not getting enough space down the road.
I went 32 just to safe than sorry. Currently my usage on the Nexus 5 I would have 6GB of free space on a 16 model. I got the 32GB in case I decided put my music and a couple of videos on my phone for vacation trips I will be taking this year.

That's been my thinking as well. 32GB is really the minimum if you want to have some media files on hand for those (admittedly rare) moments when there's no internet connection.
I don't need my entire music collection or video collection, just a few albums and a couple HD episodes or a movie as backup. Oh and a few games, most of which are getting into the 2GB+ sizes (Hearthstone, etc.)
Also if someone intends to record 4k videos it would be advised not to go with the 16GB version.
Hopefully this won't be a problem at all. I imagine we will get "lite" roms and such. Something tells me it will be manageable.

As its a pure android phone the software won't take a large space.I think 12.5 GB will be available for users.I don't think 16 GB model is right choice but if you doesn't download many apps and games then its a good option.

Pay me no mind I got the 32GB. Honestly if I just stick with my most use apps I would only need 8GB on the phone. I got the 32GB only because I am taking a lengthy vacation. Might want to carry a few movies and also might take a lot of photos and videos while out and about.

Whats the main reason for getting 128gb if they give you unlimited storage?
Video content / Music content / Offline photos / Documents / Apps / App data

I think the big reason behind people getting the larger size would be for those interested in doing more with Daydream. I chose 32 because I have never used close to that much on any previous device.
I keep about 100gb of music on my device. Prefer to stream offline than to use data...

You are not getting unlimited storage. It is only unlimited Google Drive storage for the videos and photos you take with your Pixel phone. So when you run out of storage on your device Photos will automatically delete photos and videos from your device after which you will need to use data in order to view them again.
Why 128Gig ?
I travel a lot and regardless what people say for me Data roaming is impossibly expensive and WiFi is not always easy to find.
My Nexus 6 has 32Gig the apps and OS take 29Gig .... If I want to have one movie in local storage my device is filled.
I got the 128 because I download all my Spotify playlist to my phone to save data
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I have Google music and cache a lot of playlists. Even though I have unlimited data I want interruption free music playback. I offline a lot of YouTube videos for later viewing as well. Photos and 4k videos although may be uploaded for free but 4k streaming may not be as fast when you're re watching. Also when going through an album of high res photos, download from the cloud can't be faster than local. Unlimited cloud storage is mostly great for peace of mind knowing you probably won't lose your media
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
It's kind of an insurance policy into the future. With virtual reality and other things either coming on board now or in the near future I for one am not sure what my needs are going to be in the future and when I say future that could be in the next 6 months. I don't know what 7.1 is going to use up by itself so I ordered the 128 and would recommend anyone who asks to order the 128.

Unlimited storage is most likely only for photos and videos not everything else.
Got the 32GB but I wish they offered 64GB instead, LIKE MY DEAD NOTE 7
95% of my life or more I'm connected to wifi....32gb for me.
Why drive an SUV? Why have a 3 TB in your desktop? Why have a 36" fridge instead of a 22"?
This is really a pretty lame question but the number one answer that may not be as obvious as the rest...
RESALE VALUE... big time, the extra amount you pay will be ,made up for later (not to mention all your fav music and movies when you are stuck somewhere with no data)
So the limited edition blue is only in 32gb size... Guess I'm going black 128gb. Need it for Google music and Netflix.

I ordered the 128gig because everytime I get a 32gig phone about 6 months in I'm having to start removing stuff to make room for other stuff, it all comes down to how you use the device, the unlimited camera pictures/videos is a nice touch but for how I use my phone that free storage won't even make a dent in what I keep on my phone. on the other hand if it had an SD slot I would have probably took the 32gig as I could offload some stuff to the card, a middle ground option of 64gig would have been nice tho.

as the owner of nexus6 can say that 128gb must be a basic model.
I got the 64 GB model and it's more than I need. I'm constantly upload my photos to Google Photos and delete photos older than a few months from my phone, since I can always access them online when I need to. Music is probably the only thing always growing. I'm using Spotify and syncing 4 different playlists with several hundred songs in extreme quality. If I ever encounter any space issues, I either reduce the audio quality or split things up into multiple smaller playlists.
Had a 64 GB Oneplus Two for the past 2 years and I didn't have any space issues either.
Do you play games and stuff?
That's a big ass music portfolio lol.
I usually stream my music and use photos as storage.
Never store my photos on the actual phone.
