the headphone (and receiver) driver is the Qualcomm audio codec wcd9310, the speaker driver is a TI audio amp

and what chip is better? Wolfson or quallcom?

Are you serious? Some people like Wolfson and some like Qualcomm.

And you as a user of the two phones, in what audio chip will sound better in your opinion?

What do you mean
? For the headphones, for the speaker, the ear piece receiver the digital audio 'processing.
But the wolfson chip was built for audio and that is their main business the qcom part was made for consumer phones

They both sound just fine for what they are: phone audio chips.

I find his attitude hilarious. The number of multi-threads and stupid responses has been pretty bad the last couple of days.
I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a thread asking whether the blue or white phone is better.

Hah, we've already had that. If you're ever bored look back to the beginning of this Q/A section. Or maybe it was the international Q/A where people were like "wtfuq y duz blue get better quadrantz???"

Beats for Galaxy Nexus

Hello All,
RockoDev has released a new version of the Beats profile that has been seen on the front page. It installed correctly on my Galaxy Nexus, so just wanted to bring it to the masses. Although, word of caution, I am still unsure of whether there is a true difference. I just feel this is really cool to see Beats on the Galaxy Nexus.
The thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1525226
All Credit Goes to RockoDev, I take no credit, just sharing.
This does not belong at all to developement.

All it does is strictly no change in audio output.
If you claiming you're improving sound quality while implicitly asking for donations (aka [Donate to me] button) I strongly suggest you to bring some elements supporting your assumptions.
I might add that by distributing random files and libs you're violating several manufacturers copyrights and intellectual property.

That quote is a perfect example why none of the other comments about sound improvements can be trusted. This basically just drops a bunch of files in /system/bin, /system/etc and /system/lib. Absolutely none of these are pre-existing in GN ROMs so the chances of any of them ever being executed or linked to are very remote. I'm with supercurio on this one. Waste of time. Yet another placebomod.

Supercurio is doing absolutely nothing with actual sound quality. He said the chip doesn't not meet up to his standards of voodoo sound. So instead we will be getting Voodoo Louder which will just increase the volume kind of like Franco's latest kernels.

The files are basically sound drivers that set the sound profile to whatever beats audio changes. It sounds better if you listen to music with a lot of bass. If you can't tell a difference it could be interfering with things like volume+ or DSP manager.

Galaxy note 2 hardware problems

Hey everyone I've been with my lg nitro HD for around a year now and I'm finally making the switch to the note 2 tomorrow but I was hoping that if you guys have found any hardware problems (like stuck buttons, plastic cracked, etc.) When you had first bought your note that you could post them here so that others could try and brainstorm help and also that I could look out for those problems. Thanks !

It's not being rude..if you bothered to even look through the post here...you can easily see some issues that some folks are having..and other issues folks are just way to anal about..that's the way it always is.
The phone is a damn good one...and has a good tract record...but every manufacturer of every phone has some bad ones get out..That isn't being rude...but just stating a fact of life..

other portals have an all in one know issues sticky. and yes, what you said, WAS rude.
the only issue i have is alot of blocked calls (calls that never connect but make the dropped call sound) and a REALLY LONG call connect time. i blame samsungs weak ass radios lol
so far ive heard of:
1 phantom digi
1 random broken speaker

Being factual. .is not being rude..and this is XDA....not some other portal..so learn to use the search feature...
Here you are expected to search before asking. ..and it is considered rude and lazy if you don't.
Sorry to talk to you as an adult...but you can expect the same response from others. .if you don't.
Mac
I agree with Mac Here.......Its how XDA is ( and is that way for a Reason )
but onto the hardware problems......i have read threads about big to small issues, some like stated above are just over reacting to certain things that really seem to annoy them....lol the creaking thing seems to be the smallest biggest gripe of the phone so far. i dont have that problem either, maybe its from them thinking pressing the screen should be some sort of fore arm excersize.
def check the threads out, what your asking is that a group of people out of the community take time to rewrite what they have already written in other threads as their gripes and make a list just for you so to speak. and one person will never be able to tell you what others are experiencing with the phone so just scroll the Q&A and Gernal section for thread titles and most likely you will see the problems people are having. just like when i clicked on this one THINKING that you had actually found a hardware problem.......Mislead i was when i graced the threshold.

Creaky number seems exaggerated by about 1230984602139460821391. I saw 5 in the 1 thread I saw. So let's multiply by 4 in case I missed a thread with that complaint. That gives us 22 hardware issues. Wait lets just make that 100 instances for each of the complaints you are highlighting. That makes 300. Have yet to see any thread on a device where you will see that many complaints. But I am not omniscient so lets say bump it up to 1000 each. What is the percentage of faulty equipment out of the millions sold?
The sample of total users of a device here on xda are inconsequential to the number of operartional/defective devices in the world.
Odds are you are going to get one that is fine so why worry about it. You get a bad one take it back. Simple. That is what the warranty is for.

I've heard there's no such thing as a stupid question.... but bro...
Test cheap headphones with those settings
Test your broken headphones with other settings and other devices
Test IQ to see if you should be getting a check from the government
After you figure it out
Test new headphones that you got with the check from the government
Repeat steps as needed
No, the driver won't crap out. Those are safe, unless of course you pump the volume up to max and keep it running for over 100+ hours with no rest in between, then yes, it may damage the buds.
But anyone sane wouldn't do that anyway so yes you're perfectly safe.

If you think those settings blew out your speakers why would someone use those settings to check if they are the cause of it?
Its a useful post because someone may have used those settings and could give insight or someone in the future may wonder the same thing (probably not because no one searches) but your question was.....remedial at best

what improvements do people want to see in the software on the G Pad? as in what features do we think are necessary on a custom g pad ROM?
contrary to a lot of the reviews, i feel that the stock LG software, optimus ui or whatever, is not THAT bad. overall minimal and the animations don't really seem to get in the way of performance and functionality mostly. thoughts on this?

I completely agree on the stock ROM, but you can make it stutter a bit. A little ROM+Kernel optimization should do the trick. Maybe add OC and voltage control.
