Beats for Galaxy Nexus - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hello All,
RockoDev has released a new version of the Beats profile that has been seen on the front page. It installed correctly on my Galaxy Nexus, so just wanted to bring it to the masses. Although, word of caution, I am still unsure of whether there is a true difference. I just feel this is really cool to see Beats on the Galaxy Nexus.
The thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1525226
All Credit Goes to RockoDev, I take no credit, just sharing.

This does not belong at all to developement.

Did you notice any differences? Thanks for sharing.

All it does is strictly no change in audio output.
If you claiming you're improving sound quality while implicitly asking for donations (aka [Donate to me] button) I strongly suggest you to bring some elements supporting your assumptions.
I might add that by distributing random files and libs you're violating several manufacturers copyrights and intellectual property.

supercurio say no, at least on his test.

Dev of Voodoo mod is taking a dump on that thread. I wouldnt flash it unless some solid and valid results are proven.
Edit: ok somebody posted right before me. Check out what supercurio said about it.

I too was wondering if this actually had an impact as well.

That quote is a perfect example why none of the other comments about sound improvements can be trusted. This basically just drops a bunch of files in /system/bin, /system/etc and /system/lib. Absolutely none of these are pre-existing in GN ROMs so the chances of any of them ever being executed or linked to are very remote. I'm with supercurio on this one. Waste of time. Yet another placebomod.

Supercurio is doing absolutely nothing with actual sound quality. He said the chip doesn't not meet up to his standards of voodoo sound. So instead we will be getting Voodoo Louder which will just increase the volume kind of like Franco's latest kernels.

The files are basically sound drivers that set the sound profile to whatever beats audio changes. It sounds better if you listen to music with a lot of bass. If you can't tell a difference it could be interfering with things like volume+ or DSP manager.

But the wolfson chip was built for audio and that is their main business the qcom part was made for consumer phones

It's because of the Apple/Android patent wars. Apple won the patent infringement case regarding the universal search feature. Google was forced to break the feature in order to comply with the terms of the lawsuit. Sucks, but it's how the US patent system works right now. Hopefully something more sensible gets put in place soon.

Whoa... gross misinfo there. One has nothing to do with the other. The op is asking about the Google Sound Search widget, aka Google Ears. It being frozen on the op's phone has absolutely nothing to do with the patent wars. Due to licensing constraints with the recording labels, its frozen outside of the states
To the op, just use Titanium Backup to unfreeze it.

it seems to get frozen after each reboot, I assume there are some startup scripts that are responsible for it.
any ideas where to start looking for them so I can come up with a way to disable this 'functionality'?

I'd be interested in this as well.
I've just been using the terminal emulator to enable Google Ears.
Code:
pm enable code.google.android.ears
I've tried looking into a way to enable it permanently but I'm no android developer. This might benefit someone:
developer.android.com/reference/android/content/pm/PackageManager.html#setApplicationEnabledSetting(java.lang.String,int, int)
Perhaps editing the manifest and repackaging the app would do the trick? I'd assume you'd have to remove Google Ears first. I tried that and wasn't able to remove it. Hopefully someone with more knowledge can comment.
Apologies for getting around the "No URLs, new user!" restriction but I don't know how else to point those interested in this direction.

Useless Build Prop Tweaks and Other Useless Tweaks!!!!

First of all I am not knocking anybody simply trying to figure out myself what really works on the SGH-T989 and what really doesn't. Digging into the inside if my phones files and other resources I discovered alot of things that everybody puts into their build props and int.d tweaks etc. don't really do anything. One source I found was here Pt.1 & Pt.2 http://www.jeffmixon.com/series/examining-build-prop-tweaks-for-android-ics-a-comprehensive-guide/ It's very interesting and this guy is a mobile software engineer so he's not just some jo-schmo talking crap. I found some like - ro.APP_ADJ=1 to lock home into memory ( only really works on GB roms), - profiler.force_disable_err_rpt=1 (only works on HTC devices),- profiler.disable_ulog=1 ( only works on HTC devices), - windowsmgr_max_events_per_sec= anything other than 90 doesn't do anything, - any net.tcp. buffersize tweaks - don't do anything as they are already baked into the init.rc file on the phone. These are just a few I discoverd tinkering around and from other sources through researching.
Other ones that bug me are the music tweaks such as af.resampler=255 or af.resampler=3? Which one really works some use 255 such as the AC!D mod and others such as KingBeatz say it's bogus use 3 instead. So who knows I could not tell the difference myself. Also the sampling rate = 48000 tweak to me it really doesn't work. Yeah you can run a logcat and it will say 99resampling done or whatever. But if you use a player like power amp or other players with the sampling rate visible at the bottom you will see it says 44.1khz . Why? Because in the audiopolicy.conf all the way at the bottom you will see it is set at 44100 sampling rate and if you try to change it to 48000 guess what happens your music player will stop working! So I think the tweak is useless.
A couple more before I go why does half of the roms out there have this in their audioeffects.conf "dolby-dsp.so" located in system/lib/soundfx? 80% of the roms that have this do not have any dolby-dsp.so in soundfx folder so it's pointless! The final one is audioeffectservice.apk on any rom I have ever used it is not installed for REAL!I it is just there for no reason it doesn't do anything. Logcat will say audioeffectservice.apk ignoring invalid files etc. and if you check all of your apps in titanium backup or even your settings app you will not find it. Any app that is actually installed if you click on it wil say something like replace or uninstall depends on what you are doing. Click on audioeffectservice, apk and it will ask you if you want to install it everytime. If it was actually on the phone and served a purpose it would say replace etc. I know I will hear arguments about this but this is just my own observations of stuff that is not needed or doesn't benefit the phone at all. Thanks for letting me put in my two cents for today!
Good post..but next time write in paragraph instead of a writing a wall of text..
I'm quite impressed with your effort in looking in to this subject. I don't do much tweaking myself, however, I agree with you that having any unnecessary code/tweaks (in this case within the build.prop) doesn't benefit the phone and just adds clutter.
Maybe it's also because I'm the type of guy who admits to the classic case of form follows function, ahaha.
I also agree with what qwerty123321, it was an eye-sore to read the post. Perhaps separating your finds into bullet points would help devs/others who will be reading this.

First of all it's "you're". Your is possessive. Fix your grammar or turn on your auto correct.
Second, what part of this thread provides useful information? The only people this information would be useful to are developers.. and since they're DEVELOPERS, you can bet that they already know this information. If not you would have seen devs chime in, but that hasn't happened has it?
Not all these tweaks are useless and it depends on the phone you use them with. We already use build prop tweaks that actually benefit this phone so in turn this thread is absolutely useless.
Also thanks for mentioning that I'm incredible. I'm glad you realize this. Enjoy banging your head against that wall, idiot.

Bravia Engine is useless too if you don't have a compatible device.
You'll find that also includes apps to the system apps folder which aren't installed at all.
Those who promotes that kind of apps should search more information before saying that are compatible with all ROMS and devices as well.

Test your broken headphones with other settings and other devices
Test IQ to see if you should be getting a check from the government
After you figure it out
Test new headphones that you got with the check from the government
Repeat steps as needed
No, the driver won't crap out. Those are safe, unless of course you pump the volume up to max and keep it running for over 100+ hours with no rest in between, then yes, it may damage the buds.
But anyone sane wouldn't do that anyway so yes you're perfectly safe.

And what were the results of your IQ test?
If you think those settings blew out your speakers why would someone use those settings to check if they are the cause of it?
Its a useful post because someone may have used those settings and could give insight or someone in the future may wonder the same thing (probably not because no one searches) but your question was.....remedial at best
